ARS bullet traps safely stop bullets known for maximum stopping power; turn any suitable space into a shooting range

It takes utmost confidence to steadily advance to within a foot of a bullet trap’s face while pouring in everything from 9mm to .50 BMG rounds. Yet, that’s what Gary Mol, founder of American Range Systems, routinely does while testing the company’s many innovative bullet trap designs.

American Range Systems bullet traps are setting the pace for personal and professional range applications, facilitating the transformation of almost any space—from basements and barns to backyards and farms—into shooting ranges. Nine distinct models are available across ARS’sRanger, Warrior, Mobile and Badger lines, offering rugged, safe and reliable performance in any shooting application, from .22LR to .50 BMG.

The new ARS Mobile bullet trap is both versatile and affordable. It adjusts from ground height up to 6’ and is designed for calibers ranging from .22LR to the most potent .300 magnums, offering an incredible combination of portability and flexibility.

“You can hook it to an ATV and take it over uneven terrain, or put in in the back of a pickup and easily move it around in training settings,” says Mol. “Shooting paper targets at a range has its place, but the mobile unit is invaluable in terms of injecting challenge and authenticity. Tape a standard 16×24-inch target to it and move it around, creating variability for the situation without requiring security personnel to deviate from their vantage point. Move the target – not the shooter!” 

Besides the Mobile unit, American Range Systems’ consumer lineup consists of the popular Ranger series, designed for handguns; Badger clearing boxes for gunsmiths, gun shops and law enforcement that can handle .300 magnums; and the Warrior series, which includes the mighty Warrior 858 Max and versatile Warrior 540. The Warrior 858 Max stops everything .357 Mag up to .50 BMG, including ball ammo, armor piercing and tracer rounds.

The units set up easily. Just attach a target and zero your weapon, then back off and shoot.

“You can shoot as close as you want, which is great for practicing with your pistol, “Mol says. “Hunting enthusiasts who like to work up their own loads can set a unit in their basement or garage near their reloading bench and shoot through a chronograph and do all the ballistics work you could never get done at a public range.”

So, how do American Range Systems traps do such an effective job at stopping bullets? The technical term is “inelastic collision.” First, a uniquely designed, self-healing ballistic face slows down projectiles on impact. The bullet then collides back & forth with the ballistic compound medium that rapidly slows its momentum. If a bullet passes through the medium, the patented rear-angled AR-500 steel panels deflect high-powered projectiles back into the ballistic medium where they stop. ARS traps don’t result in the intense bullet fragmentation often seen in other trap designs. Users can reclaim the lead, since the bullets stay largely intact. This patented design solves both safety and environmental concerns.

The self-healing face material includes several layers of woven-in fabric. “I’m bringing a new face to the SHOT Show,” Mol says. “We shot it about 74,000 times and the unit was still working with that face. We’ve got some faces that have been shot more than 30,000 times and still look almost brand new.”

Mol calls maintenance on American Range Systems units “the utmost in simplicity. All you need is a ¾-inch wrench, a dustpan and a broom; that’s it. Simply remove two bolts and swing the door open. The old face hangs on two pins inside the door. You take the old one off, put the new one on, shut the door and tighten it. “I wish I could make it sound more complicated!” Mol says.

Doug Veldhuizen, National Sales Manager for ARS parent company, Nexus Outdoors, notes that a reliable American Range Systems bullet trap on a personal range helps mitigate the otherwise worrisome liability concerns about bullets going awry. “There are all kinds of potential safety problems associated with shooting on private property ranging from deflected bullets hitting neighboring livestock to ricochets hitting vehicles or dwellings. These units can solve many of those problems.”

Axeon Second Zero Opens Up Long Range Possibilities

FORT SMITH, Ark. (January 16, 2019) – The Axeon® Second Zero® is a precision optical device that gives any rifle shooter an instant additional zero distance whether in hunting or tactical application. It works with all optical sights from rifle scopes to dot sights.
Shooters typically zero their rifles with one consistent load at a known distance. The Second Zero provides your optic either a 4.3 or 11.5 MOA adjustment just by flipping its prismatic lens in front of your rifle scope or red dot. For many popular rifle loads this equates to an additional zero of 330 or 530 yards.
A 3×9 scope dialed in at 100 yards makes a .30-06 a versatile hunting tool. But what happens when a deer breaks through the hedgerow more than 320 yards out? While some hunters are well versed in ballistics and bullet drop, many don’t readily keep that information accessible or can recall in that short moment of “trophy opportunity”. The Second Zero offers a simple solution that eliminates the need for hold-over. There’s no complex math involved. Simply flip down the Second Zero precision lens, put the crosshairs on the target, and pull the trigger.

The Second Zero, a patented prism optical device invented by John Baker of TACOHMQ, will revolutionize the way shooters achieve accuracy at long distances. It mounts forward of a traditional scope or other optic such as a red dot or ACOG. Optics function normally when the Second Zero is not being used. When engaged, the prisms of the Second Zero, shift the image by its pre-determined MOA value to compensate for bullet drop. Simply place the crosshairs on the target just as you would at 100 yards.
Mounting the Second Zero is simple. Attach it to the bell of a scope or install the rail mount model on available rail space in front of an optic using its quick connect mount. The prismatic lens shifts the optical image without magnification, so the size of the target doesn’t change. Because it shifts the target image optically (not mechanically) before a targeting device “sees” that image, the shift works when paired with any optic. Precision alignment is not required. The shooter sees the same image before and after the Second Zero is employed.
The Second Zero is the fastest way to compensate for bullet drop at extended range. In less time than it takes to read this sentence, and without looking away from the target, a shooter can instantly pull up the Second Zero. Danyela D’Angelo to Appear at Kahr Firearms Group SHOT Show Booth

Danyela D’Angelo began shooting competitively at the age of 11, with her father’s invitation. Since then, D’Angelo has fired hundreds of thousands of rounds through practice and competitive events. By 2015, she was shooting in multiple local USPSA pistol matches each month, and discovered 3 Gun Competitions soon after. Her training and competitive experience have given her a valuable perspective: “Winning is just one aspect of competing. You have to lose a lot more than you win, so handling that is a big part of success,” D’Angelo says. She enjoys the competition shooting lifestyle and the relationships with people and companies, like Kahr Firearms Group, that it has afforded her. While D’Angelo continues to train with her father regularly, she also works with trainer and 7-discipline USPSA Grandmaster Nick Saiti of Secret Weapon Training.
D’Angelo’s skill and determination are beyond her years. Seeing her videos on social media, and watching her adeptly handle a .50 cal Desert Eagle, for example, make it hard to believe that she is a teenage girl rather than a seasoned professional. D’Angelo completed the last MGM Ironman at only 14 years old. She has competed in the Hard as Hell Multigun Match for the last four years. Her “tools” include a Beretta 1301 12-gauge, POF USA Renegade Plus in 5.56 with Vortex optics, and her Eddie Garcia custom open division .38 super comp race gun. D’Angelo continues to accumulate as many points as she can in hopes of representing the US at the 2020 World Shoot in Thailand. She works hard to balance school work with the demands of competition training so that she can become a lawyer in the future.

Huntsville, AL – The Jaeger 30 was designed to provide hunters with superior sound and recoil reduction when used on single-shot or bolt action rifles chambered up to 300 Win Mag.

The Jaeger 30 features a Grade 9 Titanium mount and blast chamber. The outer tube and monolithic core are machined from 7075 T6 Aluminum. The black anodized Titanium mount is the strongest component of the silencer, it carries the serial number and data panel. The 5/8-24 threads of the Jaeger 30 are compatible with the majority of .30 caliber hunting rifles found in today’s marketplace. The 7075 T6 Aluminum tube and monocore are finished with Type 3 hard coat anodize.

The Jaeger 30 can reduce to below 140 dB the sound pressure that results from the discharge of some of today’s most popular 30-caliber cartridges (e.g. 300 WM, 308 WIN, and 300 BLK)*. Barrett 4050 SDR obtains FCC and Industry Canada approval

Perth, Western Australia, 15 January 2019 – In November 2018 Barrett Communications was advised that the 4050 HF SDR transceiver was granted authorization by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States and by Industry Canada.
This product authorization was for FCC compliance under Rule Parts 87 – Aviation and Rule Part 90 – Private Land Mobile Radio. Industry Canada product authorization was under RSS-125 Issue 2 – AM Land‐Mobile and/or Fixed Radio Transmitter and Receiver. FCC approval is particularly defined within the United States but is also seen by many countries in South America and international organizations within the civil aviation, such as ICAO, as part of their homologation process.

Tasmanian Tiger® New Roller SD for the Road Warrior

The roller suitcase is constructed using a double frame for protection and durability. With 23 liters of room divided into a variety of multi-purpose pockets, the TT Roller SD with sturdy telescopic extension handle can be rolled through airports or converted into a backpack using the cushioned shoulder straps (stored in pocket when not in use) for traveling on rough terrain.

The base of the roller system is made to maintain stability. The main compartment features compression straps for securing belongings and a lockable zipper. Mesh pockets inside the main compartment keep smaller gear organized. A front pocket contains a cushioned laptop compartment, as well as a USB connector of charging devices, plus inside pockets for quick access to travel documents. All zippers are YKK zippers known for their outstanding durability. Laser cut MOLLE on the front pocket allows for the addition of pouches or other gear.

Montana Outdoor Group Acquires Montana Rifle Company

Kalispell, Mont. (January 2019) – Montana Outdoor Group, a private investor group, has acquired the Montana Rifle Company (MRC) from Owner and Founder Brian Sipe. According to industry veteran and new CEO Ron Petty, the acquisition was completed in July and new changes were immediately implemented to rejuvenate the facility and increase production capability. Petty commented, “we are extremely excited to acquire this prestigious company and already we are seeing sales and production on the rise.”

New machinery, including several state-of-the-art CNC machines, and several new key personnel have made a very positive impact, not only on production, but new products as well.

“With the acquisition, machinery and key personnel in place, we have established the Montana Custom Barrel Division and are actively producing barrel blanks for key industry partners,” Petty continued.

MRC produces custom actions, such as the Model 1999, designed by noted gunsmith and founder Brian Sipe. The action combines features of both the M70 Winchester’s 3-position safety and fully adjustable trigger with the Mauser controlled feed extractor. The action is a preferred choice of many custom gunsmiths and is available as an “action- only” in short, long and PH configuration for calibers .222 through the 505 Gibbs. Barreled actions are also available in over 70 calibers.

MRC’s selection of custom rifles includes models in both right- and left-hand actions and a complete range of calibers in both Chromoly Blue, Stainless, wood and synthetic stocks. MRC firearms have won almost every prestigious award, including Field & Stream’s 2015 “Best of the Best,” SCI’s 2017 “Gun of the Year” and many others. At Montana Outdoor Group, we are proud to keep this tradition alive and well!

It’s Good To Be A Cow!

It’s Friday, the weekend is upon us, the government is still shut down and the Democrats are still insisting that walls don’t work. It’s also time for our weekly shoot the shit.

A shoot the shit is a form of social interaction among individuals who may know nothing about the subject being discussed, like the House Democrats, where you can make unsupported statements, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone you wish or change the subject altogether.

So let’s get started.

Narendra Damodardas Modi is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. Well, Prime Minister Modi has been encouraging Indians to protect cows. As you know, cows are sacred to religious Hindus, something I could never figure out because a large percentage of the Indian population, especially in the outer states are going hungry. The move to protect cows by tightening cow protection laws has devastated India’s Muslim community who rely on beef for nutrition, employment and exports accounting for $4 billion in business.

I respect, an individual’s right to their brand of religiosity, but tighter cow protection laws may have unexpected consequences for India if Ann Navaro and Rosie O’Donell decide to make the country their new home!

Moving right along, the newly elected House member from the state of New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, wants to increase taxes on the wealthy. The only problem is that she is clueless on how a progressive tax works. I don’t know about you readers, but I have never worked for a poor person and employment prospects have always improved when the sources of capital are incentivized to start and grown existing businesses. When that happens personal incomes rise, crime drops, quality of life improves, the government’s tax base grows and communities are revitalized.

I can get over a lack of knowledge, but there’s no telling what else she has rattling around in her head and for that reason we placed her on the dark side of The Force.

Senator Schumer and Speaker Pelosi made a joint statement immediately after President Trump`s Border Security speech. Folks, whoever staged their photo op should never be allowed behind a camera lens ever again.

The company, Trailblazer Firearms, headquartered in the western part of North Carolina, home to many companies developing some of the leading machining technologies in the US, launched the LifeCard .22 LR folding, single-shot pistol in late 2017. The tiny pocket pistol filled the void between an EDC and a utility tool designed to eliminate vermin. Small enough to fit into the ubiquitous 5th pocket of a pair of Levi’s®, the LifeCard took on a life of its own and exceeded company sales projections in its first year on the market.

The newest model, the LifeCard .22 WMR, came as a result of customer requests and the company’s commitment to only producing products that met their high level of quality in form, function and performance. The new .22 WMR will provide customers with the advantage of a more powerful cartridge without compromising the tiny overall size and shape.
