T.G.I.F! Hope you got through your week happy, healthy and a little wiser. I was able to get some range time in and I’m currently putting the wraps on a Ruger RPR Gen 3 review. What a rifle folks! I won’t get into the details other than to say get one.

It’s also time for our weekly shoot the shit. For new readers, a shoot the shit is a social interaction during which the participants don’t need to know anything about the topic being discussed, they are free to make any unsupported comment, use uncensored profanity or change the subject. Shoot the shits promote people to people interaction and are far more effective than paying a jackass, who studied psychology so they could understand themselves, over $150 per hour for what a shoot the shit will accomplish for free. I recommend that you have weekly shoot the shits with your coworkers and staff, friends and family. You’ll see positive results in short order. So, let’s shoot the shit.

Our industry is without question one of the most innovative on the planet and contributing $50 – $52 billion annually to the country’s GDP. Covering its news and events is a full time endeavor and one producing some truly outstanding media, but we are not without our own prima donnas. I, recently read a short article by such an individual, who allegedly is an authority on ammunition and shooting in general. I will not link the article because I don’t want to malign the publication or its author.

The thrust of the article was to get the reader to accept that muzzle velocity has nothing to do with barrel length and went as far as to suggest that if you think a shorter barrels produces lower muzzle velocities you’re delusional. He makes his point by talking about “loads, chambers, and barrels”; all of which was designed to impress the reader, who is undoubtedly sitting there saying “no shit Sherlock”, with his enormous knowledge. Indeed, all of these things influence muzzle velocity but it does nothing to establish that shorter barrels produce lower muzzle velocities. He also pulls a number of 25 fps, out of thin air, as the “proper” muzzle velocity lost for every inch of barrel reduction.

The way you answer the barrel length/muzzle velocity relationship question is with a structured approach along these lines; start with a 24” barrel, using the same ammunition from the same lot, chronograph ten rounds, then cut the barrel back one inch repeating that process for however many cycles are needed, but making sure you have enough barrel length left to stabilize the projectile. The procedure should reveal that muzzle velocity decreases per inch reduction of barrel length; however, the amount of the incremental decrease will vary barrel to barrel. You don’t need to be a luminary, it’s simply physics and not magic. I’ve personally observed changes in muzzle velocity from 30 fps to 50 fps reductions per inch.

For example, Federal Ammunition uses a 24” test barrel to measure the velocity of their .308 Winchester 168 grain GMM. The company quotes muzzle velocity at 2650 f.p.s. (feet per second). I shot 10 rounds using that ammunition out of a Ruger RPR .308 Win 20” barrel with the following results.

Synced on: 2019-08-28 13:37:35
Series 2019-08-28_13_37_35 Shots: 10
Notes
Min 2475 Max 2550
Avg. 2514 S-D 25.6
ES 75
Shot Speed
1 2543 ft/s
2 2517 ft/s
3 2475 ft/s
4 2530 ft/s
5 2541 ft/s
6 2550 ft/s
7 2494 ft/s
8 2499 ft/s
9 2490 ft/s
10 2505 ft/s

Using my average velocity of 2514 fps, it’s clearly lower than Federal’s test barrel at 2650 fps. My 20” barrel gave up 136 fps. My 20” barrel is 4 inches shorter than Federal’s 24” barrel, dividing 136 / 4 translates to a 34 fps loss per inch.

So, not everything that you read online is accurate or even factual but a few of these publications are more interested in likes and retweets than the quality of what is put out.

I can’t stop laughing…

Lawrence O’Donnell , while on The Rachel Maddow Show, tells Maddow, and MSNBC viewers, that sources from Deutsche Bank have informed him Trump’s loans were cosigned by Russian oligarchs, the next day O’Donnell retracted an apologized. It would not surprise me to hear media reports that Vladimir Putin cosigned Trump’s car loan.

Last but least…

Folks there is no end to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s display of ignorance or falsehoods. In her latest display of ignorance, she publishes an Instagram video in which she claims that young people are more “informed” and “willing to go to the streets” in protest than earlier generations.

Here you are AOC…

Have a great weekend folks be safe and spend some quality time with your buds and family it’s time well spent.

Shell Shock Technologies Sponsored Shooter John Vlieger Places Second Overall at the 2019 EGW Area 8 Championship

Vlieger also finished second in the Open Division with 1452.5935 match points and a time of 175.81.

Westport, Conn. (August 2019)Shell Shock Technologies, LLC., an early-stage technology and manufacturing company focused on developing innovative case technologies for the ammunition industry, is pleased to announce its sponsored shooter, John Vlieger, placed second overall and second in the Open Division at the 2019 EGW Area 8 Championship, held Aug. 22 – 25, 2019, at the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania. Vlieger competed against 521 competitors to finish with 1452.5935 match points and a time of 175.81.  Watch the competition video here:https://www.facebook.com/JohnVliegerShooting/videos/382159292450261/.

“Another regional championship with zero failures to hold me back or keep me from competing at my peak. While a second-place finish is never easy to accept, the capability of my equipment shows through with how close the finish was. I have the utmost confidence in my ammunition loaded with Shell Shock Technologies NAS3 cases and plan to use them for all of my future competitions,” commented Vlieger.

Vlieger has fired over 55,000 rounds of ammunition with Shell Shock Technologies’ NAS3cases since becoming sponsored in 2017 and plans to continue using it. He can be seen competing next at the 2019 Cheely Custom Gunworks USPSA Area 5 Championship, to be held Sept. 4 – 8, 2019, at the Briar Rabbit Shooting Sports Club located in Zanesville, Ohio.

About Shell Shock Technologies NAS3 Cases:

NAS3 9mm cases are 50 percent lighter than brass cases, offer greater lubricity and will not abrade, clog, foul, wear-out or damage breach and ejector mechanisms. The cases offer greater corrosion resistance, tensile strength (2x stronger) and elasticity than brass. NAS3cases will not split, chip, crack or grow (stretch) and are fully reloadable (using S3 Reload dies) and can be reloaded many more times than brass cases. NAS3 cases have been tested successfully by customers to pressures over 70k psi. NAS3 cases can be picked up with a magnet. The head can be colored for branding purposes and easy load identification.

NAS3 is “Best in Class” for maintaining consistent velocity between rounds. In an independent test performed by H.P. White Laboratory (a major munitions testing facility), rounds fired using NAS3 cases achieved a velocity standard deviation of 0.093 FPS (124-grain FMJ bullet, 4.2 grains Titegroup powder, 10 rounds, extreme variation 3fps).

Two leading innovators in the firearms industry team up to create a revolutionary rifle for the Army NGSW program

Washington Utah, August 28, 2019
The Army has been soliciting design and manufacturing firms for a next-generation weapon platform. This NGSW program is expected to produce a replacement for the M16 battle-rifle and SAW machine gun. Along with the request for this all-new weapon, this project demands a new cartridge to be developed alongside and incorporated into these new battle rifles.
The initial call-out for the program seeks to dramatically increase the terminal power and effective distance of the 5.56 NATO and even the 7.62 NATO. The performance of the new cartridge will rival the exterior and terminal ballistics of some current commercial magnum hunting cartridges. It seems a worthwhile endeavor to outfit each soldier with an 8lb rifle that can hit a 1 MOA hardened target, and  penetrate that target up to and exceeding 1000 yards. If that’s not enough to impress, this new weapon will fulfill these requirements without compromising the control and handling characteristics currently accepted in the M16 and SAW light machine gun.
MARS, INC of Montana teamed up with Cobalt Kinetics of Utah early in 2019 to realize this seemingly-impossible task. The brain-trust of MARS approach the modern semi-auto rifle from a fresh perspective while Cobalt Kinetics’ skill and expertise at precision manufacturing made the idea a reality. The resulting weapon presents as an extra-large framed AR-patterned rifle- with a huge magazine well to accommodate the new cartridge. Inside the handguard one can identify a large recoil spring wrapped around the barrel- an essential part of any long-recoil operating system. For those unfamiliar with this type of mechanism, it’s not unlike your grandfather’s Browning Auto-5 shotgun. But make no mistake, this is not your grandfather’s battle rifle. The bolt and barrel, while locked, are allowed to travel freely within the action under the recoil impulse generated by the 6.8mm short magnum cartridge (the guns fire 140gr .270 caliber bullets at 3200FPS). This operating system causes a great deal of recoil energy to be spent and dissipated before the total recoiling mass delivers a blow to the shooter’s shoulder. Similar systems have been employed over the past few decades in some soviet rifle and machine-gun designs. This operation has been labeled as “shifted pulse recoil”. The recoil impulse is effectively distributed over time, while its speed is reduced by a spring and buffer system before the stroke is complete. The result is a slower and softer impulse to the shooter- more to the point- This rifle is as controllable and comfortable to shoot as the old low-impulse 5.56 platform, while doubling the effective distance and energy.
Besides reduced recoil, there are many other advantages of long-recoil semi-auto operation. No gas escapes the barrel into the action- this rifle, with full-auto capability, runs as clean as any bolt action. When operating with a suppressor, the long-recoil system actually runs more reliably and with less recoil that unsuppressed. Of course, the added mass slows down the barrel/bolt assembly but that extra mass and resultant momentum to the recoiling assembly help the system power through dirt and particulate that can foul other semi-auto mechanisms. And the addition of suppressor does not contribute to increases fouling in the action as the system operates so slowly (relative to DI or piston) the propellant gasses and powder-charge fallout have fully evacuated by the time the bolt unlocks and opens to eject and reload the weapon.
MARS and Cobalt have developed 2 versions of the “MARS” rifle. A 13” barreled lightweight carbine and an 18” barreled light machine gun have been supplied to the ARMY for testing and evaluation. Both are fed from proprietary 20 round box or 70 round drum magazines. Both are capable of semi and full-auto fire. The MARS rifles have been designed to incorporate the newest “smart” battlefield tech to keep the soldier connected and adaptable as battlefield tactics become more advanced. These technologies include a central power source to supply all peripheral accessories while tracking and displaying their performance and status. Light, illumination, direction of fire, total rounds fired between service intervals, ammunition supply in the magazine, and operating temperature can be tracked by a central command module on the gun. This information can be communicated to remote command to support the soldier of tomorrow.
Michael Merino, President and CEO of MARS Inc. adds: “I can’t think of a better collaboration in this industry. Our MARS rifle design, coupled with the innovative approach to rifle manufacturing of the Cobalt Kinetics team, has been incredible. We believe that we have a rifle design that meets the requirements of the Army’s ambitious NGSW program. We are excited to be part of evolution of military effectiveness. We also plan to release a commercially available version of this rifle, in the first few months of 2020.”

SOUCY DEFENSE AT DSEI 2019

DSC_0277 (002)Our Defense Division is exhibiting our Composite Rubber Track (CRT) system in the Canadian Pavilion – booth N4-140 at DSEI 2019 from September 10th to 13th.

We are showcasing our CRT technology on a Warrior vehicle kindly supplied by Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL). The warrior family of vehicles is currently in service with the British Army and is one of its most capable vehicles. The vehicle displayed is a one-off prototype, developed by RBSL, as a Mortar or Armoured Battlegroup Support Vehicle. The Warrior Automotive Improvement Programme (WAIP) for the MOD and Private Venture work with Soucy Defense to fit Continuous Rubber Track (CRT), are just some of the initiatives on offer to enhance the performance and reduce through life costs of Warrior. Soucy’s CRT system consists of a continuously cased rubber band structure, reinforced with a range of composite materials and steel cord. It weighs up to 50% lighter than Steel track and offers a range of other benefits.

SOUCY Defense Division requested NPrime to conduct new vibrational testing to capture data on the harshness of vibration experienced within specific locations where munitions are stored, as well as the impact of vibration on on-board electronics. These test results, presented along side our trials data from the Armoured Trials and Development Unit (ATDU), shows how fitting Soucy’s CRT to an Armoured Vehicle can provide a 40% reduction in mean vibration, less Ordinance Munition and Explosive (OME) propellent compaction which can increase ammunition life by up to 70%, as well as benefiting the platform electronics, the User and impacting on the total cost of ownership. Soucy are the only operationally proven rubber track provider for Armoured Fighting Vehicles.

Our defense Business Development (BD) teams will be on hand throughout DSEI at the Canadian Pavilion – Booth N4-140 to answer your questions about our CRT technology.

Steyr Arms USA Adds M-LOK Rail Systems to Its AUG Accessory Offerings

BESSEMER, Ala. (August 22, 2019) — As the exclusive U.S. distributor for Corvus Defensio, Steyr Arms USA is now offering two new ingenious aftermarket accessories to enhance a Steyr AUG from Corvus Defensio. The new M-LOK® Forward Accessory Rail and the A3 M-LOK Receiver Rail are currently in stock and available for purchase.

The Corvus Defensio M-LOK Forward Accessory Rail replaces the Vertical Fore-Grip on any AUG to provide ample mounting solutions for items such as aftermarket grips, bipods, laser sights and illumination devices. It incorporates a seven-slot Picatinny top rail and three M-LOK mounting positions on each side as well as at the bottom. The hard-anodized 7075-aluminum M-LOK Forward Accessory Rail weighs 2.1 ounces and has a suggested retail price of $159. Two accessory M-LOK-mounted Picatinny rails—a four-slot rail that can be mounted on either side and a 17-slot bottom rail—are also available for $34 and $49, respectively. Both accessory rails include the required hardened-steel mounting hardware.

The new A3 M-LOK Receiver Rail is a multi-function mounting system designed to replace the standard top rail on the original-style A3 receiver. At 14.76 inches in length, the 35-slot hard-anodized 7075-aluminum rail offers A3 owners the longest mounting system on the market for the attachment of optics, back-up iron sights, laser devices and other accessories. The A3 M-LOK Receiver Rail weighs 5.15 ounces and spans from 0.25 inches in front of the ejection port to a point over the barrel 1.5 inches beyond the forward edge of the gas block. It features two forward M-LOK slots on each side, QD-sling swivel attachment points on each side of the rail as well as an integrated barrel-rotation block. The A3 M-LOK Receiver Rail also provides an interface to direct-mount Trijicon® ACOG riflescopes via seven mounting holes after removing the Picatinny base. This rail’s suggested retail price is $199.

While the A3 M-LOK Receiver Rail is not compatible with the current AUG A3 M1, the similarly designed 23-slot M1 Receiver Rail is available for that rifle. Other Corvus Defensio AUG enhancement parts—the Anti-Rotation QD-Sling Attach, the Enhanced Release Button and the Case Deflector—are also available in the Steyr Arms USA Webstore.

Federal’s New 224 Valkyrie Loads Stretch Long-Range Horizons

ANOKA, Minnesota – August 22, 2019 – Federal proudly announces two new flat-shooting Premium 224 Valkyrie loads that deliver precision accuracy at long ranges. Shipments of these Federal Premium 224 Valkyrie cartridges have been delivered to dealers.
In 2018, Federal transformed the MSR 15 platform and broke all boundaries of ballistic performance by introducing the 224 Valkyrie cartridge. Now, it’s giving hunters and shooters new loads that stretch the cartridge’s capabilities even farther: 80.5-grain Gold Medal Berger Hybrid and 78-grain Barnes Triple-Shock X.
Like all 224 Valkyrie offerings, the new loads provide extremely flat trajectories and match accuracy at extreme ranges. They offer significantly less wind drift and drop than other loads in their class, as well as less than half the recoil of cartridges with comparable ballistics.
“The 224 Valkyrie cartridge’s dramatically improved trajectories over all other MSR 15 cartridges, including the 22 Nosler, 223 Rem. and 6.5 Grendel—with less recoil of larger cartridges offering comparable ballistics, such as the 6.5 Creedmoor,” said Federal Centerfire Product Director Mike Holm. “And with the full array of high-performance projectiles available, it’s poised to deliver on virtually every shooter’s needs. For those looking for something new, different and better from their AR-15 platform, the 224 Valkyrie is it.”

Features
• New Berger Hybrid and Barnes TSX bullet offerings
• Least wind drift and drop in the category

Galco Celebrates 50 Years Of American Craftsmanship

World-leading holster manufacturer Galco International, LTD is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. With dozens of patents and singular innovations, the Galco Gunleather™ brand has now remained at the forefront of concealed carry methods and gear for a half century.

Richard Gallagher, Galco’s founder and President, first established the company in Chicago in 1969. He comments, “It’s hard to believe fifty years have passed since those early days in Chicago: the late 1960s and 1970s, when we were still called The Famous Jackass Leather Company. Looking back, what I remember most is the tremendous sense of excitement, optimism, accomplishment and camaraderie we shared from the beginning.”

The Famous Jackass Leather Company originally popularized the horizontal shoulder system that came to be closely associated with Galco, as Gallagher renamed the company in 1980, just ahead of a move to Phoenix in 1983. Gallagher has fond memories of that shoulder system, since it was the rig’s appearance on television’s Miami Vice that rocketed Galco to fame. As Gallagher comments, “When I designed that first horizontal shoulder holster for a real police officer back in the early 1970s, I’d have never guessed a fictional vice cop would make it world famous!”

The horizontal shoulder system, later renamed the Miami Classic™, quickly became the flagship of a line that’s since diversified to include every type of concealed carry holster, concealed carry handbags for women, and a wide range of hunting and sporting accessories.

It all began with leather holsters, at the time the most common and accessible material for holster construction. Horsehide was a particular favorite in the early years because of its robust durability, Steerhide holsters have always been at the forefront of Galco’s product line with innovations like the forward-molded design of the famous Concealable™ belt holster in 1971.

In the early 2000s, Galco recognized a need for economical holsters that performed better than the floppy nylon rigs that once dominated the entry-level concealed carry market. Galco developed Premium Center Cut Steerhide™, a heavy-duty unmolded napped leather. This material gave birth to the Carry Lite™ line of high-performance yet modestly-priced holsters, which are now in use by literally hundreds of thousands of gun carriers.

Galco was one of the early pioneers of the use of Kydex® in the early 1980s, well before it came into vogue as a holster material in the 2000s. Building on that experience, Galco developed hybrid holsters like the KingTuk™ IWB series that fuse the best properties of Kydex holster pockets and comfortable leather backing plates. Galco remains on the cutting edge in both design and production of concealed carry holsters. Heavily incorporating both Kydex and injection-molded polymers, the current thermoplastic holster lines add to the leather and hybrid models.

Today, Galco continues to invest in its employees and facility in Phoenix, to remain the manufacturer of the finest holsters and shooting accessories in the world. Galco is truly, “For those who demand the best…and know the difference.”

GIMME A BREAK !

Image result for give me a break gif

TGIF readers! You made it through another week and it’s now time to kick back and relax over the weekend. I now know what Noah felt like, this week has been non stop rain so I’m ready for a good shoot the shit. Remember that a shoot the shit is a social interaction  in which everything and anything is open to discussion. Participants don’t need to know anything about the topics being discussed, they can also use uncensored profanity, insult anyone the wish or change the subject all together. Shoot the shits enhance social interaction skills and save you the $150+ per hour you’d have to pay individuals that studied psychology so they could understand themselves.

Man there is all kinds of stuff to shoot the shit about!

The Democrat Congress is on the “ban assault rifles” charade once more. I’ve reached the conclusion that Democrats legislate by anal extraction. Instead of confronting the reality that long guns, like the AR15s, account for about 1% of all gun homicides, they want to implement legislation to ban the most popular rifle in U.S. history. I love the “buy back” nonsense being discussed. What are they going to do, pay $100 for someone’s $5,000 AR15? That makes a lot of sense does it not? I’ll tell you what it does! It confirms that someone that stupid has no business being part of the legislative body of the most powerful country on the planet. In a category all of her own is Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Representative Ocasio-Cortez, who had to be genetically engineered to be utterly stupid – people with her level of I.Q. don’t just happen naturally – speaks out about the Electoral College.  One of her many illuminating comments is the accusation that the Electoral College is racist. Now, this is the same Electoral College that handed Barrack Obama, America’s first African American President, a victory in 2008 with 365 Electoral Votes  and 332 in the 2012. Now, this is even better!

She actually takes a drive through a desert area to show that this part of the country, which is a sparsely populated region, doesn’t need representation. She was trying to prove that the Electoral College should be abolished. Watch the video below. It’s hard to come up with civil discourse to adequately  capture her level of ignorance. Amazing!

Now for a more interesting topic.

I often get e-mails from readers asking for information on specific things. One that comes up from time to time, usually from HK and Steyr owners, are on the Hensoldt-Wetzlar 10×42 ZF 500 and ZF 800 rifle scopes.

Both of these scopes were produced in 1995 as a special order from the United States. Hensoldt produced and shipped 500 units of each model; sold to an undisclosed customer. The ZF 500 is a 25mm tube with an overall length of 300.6mm (depending on the diopter setting). The ZF 500  is calibrated to the .308 Win round (which I believe to be the FGMM 168gr ). Hensoldt did something interesting with the elevation turret (see the picture below).

20190822_101126 (2)

They calibrated the turret in meters and not MOA, so as shown above you’d be engaging a target at 300 meters. Do not confuse the markings with yards!

The ZF 500 is cammed from 100 meters to 500 meters with 50 meter increments. Elevation is adjustable in .25 MOA increments. The reticle is a USMC mil-dot

20190822_100948 (2)f1lg7q

The windage adjustment is in .25 MOA increments and the turret cap is etched with the more traditional MOA increments Left or Right .

20190822_101021 (2)

The ZF 800 is exactly like the ZF 500 with the following exceptions:

  1. The optic is cammed from 100 meters to 800 meters
  2. Elevation and wind adjustment increments are in .50 MOA per click.

I hope you enjoyed our shoot the shit. Have a great, and hopefully dry,  weekend; as always, be safe and try to spend some quality time with your buds and/or family

(NASDAQ: AVAV), a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems for both defense and commercial applications, today announced its 2019 Quantix and AV DSS University Collaboration Project. The project’s focus is to advance academic research, applications and crop production practices to improve the future of farming through the use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and advanced data analytics.

Through the project, AeroVironment has donated 87 Quantix™ hybrid drone and AV DSS™ ecosystems to the agricultural departments of 35 universities throughout the U.S., including Purdue University, The Ohio State University, Cornell University, University of Louisiana-Monroe, University of Florida, University of Georgia, North Dakota State University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and many others.

Participating universities will employ AeroVironment’s Quantix hybrid drone and AV DSS data analytics platform in a variety of in-field trials, application usage studies and precision agriculture systems research covering areas such as crop nutrient and input management, artificial intelligence for detecting weeds, pests and diseases, and improved accuracy of crop yield prediction. Participating universities will share their hands-on experience, along with use-case insights that can improve in-field performance and advance the adoption of drone-based technologies for the agriculture industry.

“Working with the team at AeroVironment moved our drone-based agriculture research forward beyond what we could have done otherwise,” noted professor Quirine Ketterings, Cornell University Nutrient Management Spear Program. “Ultimately, our goal is to develop accurate corn yield predictions based on in-season nitrogen applications to achieve an optimal economic return for the producer.”

Featuring automated precision flight operation and an innovative VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) hybrid design, Quantix is purpose-built for crop scouting, and can survey up to 400 acres in just 45 minutes. During flight, integrated sensors capture high-resolution color and multispectral imagery via dual 18 megapixel cameras. On-board processing wirelessly transmits true color and NDVI imagery to the included operating tablet as soon as the drone lands, allowing growers to investigate issues while still in the field. For more detailed analysis, Quantix seamlessly integrates with AV DSS to perform advanced image processing and data analytics, including True Color, NDVI, GNDVI, canopy coverage, anomaly detection and more, providing users with deeper insights into plant emergence, vegetative health, inputs and resource management.

“AeroVironment’s donation of Quantix and AV DSS will enable participating universities to quickly and easily gain the on-demand field intelligence they need to advance multiple areas of agriculture research, while enhancing the understanding and application of drone-based technology,” said Rick Pedigo, vice president of business development at AeroVironment. “With on-demand access to high resolution imagery and advanced data analytics, we’re preparing the latest generation of farmers to employ drone technology, such as Quantix and AV DSS, throughout their farming practices, improving crop production and farming efficiencies for years to come.”

“Working with industry leaders such as AeroVironment allows our program to stay on the forefront of the UAS field. The donation of two drones to our program will allow us to provide outstanding hands-on experience to our students,” said Paul Karlowitz, director of operations, University of Louisiana Monroe’s Precision Agriculture and UAS Research Center.

Several participating universities will feature Quantix and AV DSS at upcoming agriculture and UAS learning events:

  • University of Illinois Department of Crop Sciences – Agronomy Day, Aug. 22, 2019

American Defense Mfg. Begins Delivery of Flik3 and Flik5 Magnifiers and Spek Red Dot

American Defense Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer in high quality, high performance firearms and accessory mounts, is pleased to announce that delivery of the Flik3 and Flik5 fixed power add-on magnifiers and Spek Micro Red Dot to dealers and wholesalers has begun.

ADM’s Flik3 and Flik5 fixed power magnifiers are high-performance, high-quality optics that offers a generous 2.6-inch and 2.5-inch eye relief respectively, adjustable diopter for precise focus, as well as a unique optic plate that provides additional eye relief solutions if needed. As with all ADM firearms and mounts, the Flik3 and Flik5 patent pending mounts are ambidextrous in design, allowing the user to configure the mount to flip away for left or right handed shooters. The optic can be mounted in a low position or the user can add either a 4mm or 8mm riser, both included, to properly position the magnifier to their favorite red dot or holographic set up. The standard mount includes ADM’s new titanium lever assembly that is 60% lighter than the standard ADM lever assembly, provides 2X stronger thread strength, and reduces movement related to extreme thermal temperatures by approximately 60%.

There are several factors that stand the Flik3 and Flik5 magnifiers apart from others. First, the Flik3 optic is only 3 inches in length and the Flik5 is only 3.74 inches. This is considerably shorter than other expensive, competitive add-on magnifiers. Second, the Flik3 and Flik5 include high-quality optics, flip mount, rubberized armor for added durability, more compatibility with a variety of red dots, and a limited lifetime warranty. Flik3 MSRP starts at $369 and Flik5 at $475.

The Spek Micro Red Dot offers an easy-to-see 2MOA aiming dot and is powered by a lithium AAA battery, included with the sight. The Spek offers rubberized push-button controls to manipulate the 10 day/3 NV brightness settings. Lastly, the Spek is offered in either low, co-witness, or lower-third co-witness in either an aluminum mount with titanium lever assembly or the new full titanium mount reducing mount weight by 45%. MSRP starts at $369. Full Titanium mount will be available in late October.
