Team SIG’s Lena Miculek Earns Fourth Straight Title as USPSA PCC Lady’s National Champion

NEWINGTON, N.H., (June 24, 2020) – SIG SAUER, Inc. congratulates Team SIG professional shooter Lena Miculek for defending her title as USPSA PCC Lady’s National Champion, and taking the High Lady title at the 2020 USPSA PCC Nationals for the fourth consecutive year. The 2020 USPSA PCC Nationals was held at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, FL, June 19-21, 2020.

“After an extended time away from the competition it was great to get back to shooting competitively at this elite level for Team SIG. PCC competition is relatively new, and it is great to see the popularity of both the PCC platform and PCC competition gain momentum,” said Miculek. “This year’s nationals grew to nearly 250 competitors overall, and in the Lady’s Division especially, the competition was fierce and I was challenged throughout. First California Police Department Implements New Transparency Technology

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – June 23, 2020 – The King City, California Police Department has deployed the FACT Duty™ Weapon-Mounted Camera (WMC™). As transparency in Law Enforcement once again becomes a critical need at this juncture in society today, Chief Robert Masterson and the department have the only technology and tool dedicated to capturing Officer Involved Shootings.

King City is in Monterey County of Central California and sits almost equidistant from several large, major California cities on the banks of the Salinas River. King City is the first department in California to complete implementation of the FACT Duty which is in various stages of testing and implementation in over 40 states across the country.

NAUMD Names Smith & Warren 2020 Innovation Award Winner

Smith & Warren Cited for Innovative Badge Design for Commerce City Police Department, CO.

Omaha, Neb. (June 2020) – The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) today announced the winners of its 2020 Innovation Awards, a program that recognizes unique design, advanced technology and excellence within the public safety uniform and apparel industry. Topping the list was Smith & Warren, who received the Best Badge or Emblem Design for its work with the Commerce City Police Department.

The Commerce City breast and shirt badges were designed using the BadgeStudio process by Smith & Warren. BadgeStudio combines traditional concept design through sketching with digital 3D design and laser die-cutting technologies. Both badges in the program feature a black background along with uniquely integrated symbols representing the country, state, and municipality served by the department. Smith & Warren and Commerce City Police Department worked very closely together over several months to develop the concept and bring it to reality. While Smith & Warren provided the creative and technical services, it was really a collaborative effort between two organizations who were passionate about the project.

3D digital rendering and laser die cutting are innovative technologies exclusive to Smith & Warren in the badge business. The 3D rendering allows customers to see exactly how the badge will look before the die is cut. Laser die cutting provides a level of detail far superior to traditional machining methods. 

“We’re excited to shine a spotlight on the uniform suppliers who went above and beyond to create more stylish, efficient and comfortable apparel,” said Steve Zalkin, president, NAUMD. “Our Innovation Awards represent the unique ways shoes, textiles, badges and more transform the overall function of a uniform. The competition is open to all companies in the image apparel and uniform industry. Participants must submit a completed entry form, as well as photographs or drawings depicting the innovation. INDRA, THE COMPANY THAT WILL LEAD THE MOST PROJECTS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF EUROPEAN DEFENCE

· Its participation in two other projects raises the total projects undertaken to five. These will generate more than 175 million euros and be funded with more than 107 million by the European Commission

· Indra establishes itself as a key player for the next phase of the European Defence Fund, which is expected to surpass five times the investment of the European Commission in defence programs, reaching 1,250 million euros yearly during the 2021-27 period, and which will be complemented by an equal investment by the Member States

Madrid, June 19, 2020.- Indra will lead three of the main projects financed by the European Commission within the European Defence Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) and will participate as a partner in two more, strengthening its position as one of the large companies leading the construction of “European Defence”. The company has been awarded the contracts for the three proposals that it submitted as leader and it is the company coordinating the most projects of this call.

The result of this call positions Spain as a key player in the new “European Defence” thanks to the firm support that Spain’s Defence Ministry is providing for its national industry.

The five initiatives in which Indra is going to participate will generate a total of 175 million euros and will have a funding of 107 million euros from the European Commission, more than 50% of the total budget of this first call of the EDIDP program. Said projects include the participation of defense companies from more than 20 countries.

In every case, we are talking about long-term and technologically advanced undertakings that will strengthen Indra’s innovative and competitive capabilities and that will provide Europe with key capabilities for defense and security, as proven by the fact that all projects led by Indra or in which Indra participates are encompassed within the Permanent Structured Cooperation for Defense matters (PESCO) approved by the EU Council in December 2017. These are strategic projects for the EU and will give structure to the European model for industry cooperation.

With this achievement, Indra is established as the company unifying the defense systems of Europe, and as a driving force in the Spanish technological defense sector, strengthening its competitiveness on a global level in the defense market.

The success of Indra in the EDIDP ensures the continuity of the position attained during the Preparatory Action on Defense Research (PADR). Since its origin in 2017, Indra has participated in the main projects, such as OCEAN 2020 and currently leads the development of the future generation of multi-function antennas (CROWN) that will boost the electronic defense and radar capacity of the next generation of combat aircraft.

Furthermore, Indra is positioned as a key player for the second phase of the European Defense Fund, which will begin next year and is expected to surpass five times the investment of the European Commission in defense programs, reaching 1,250 million euros yearly during the 2021-27 period, and that will be complemented by an equal investment by the Member States.

The three EDIDP projects that Indra leads in this call are centered around the development of command and control capabilities, electronic defense and cybersecurity, three areas in which Indra has extensive experience and a leading position in technological terms internationally. These are:

· The European Strategic Command and Control (ESC2) System will give the EU essential command and control capabilities so that all European countries can act in unison and coordinate with their allies in international missions for peacekeeping. It will be a fully interoperable system with the command and control structures and systems of the EU, the member countries, NATO and civil agencies.

· The Responsive Electronic Attack for Cooperative Task (REACT) Program will enable the air forces of the Member States to conduct operations in which the enemy prevents or denies access to an airspace (A2/AD, anti-access/area denial). These electronic defense systems will be implemented with different configurations, from pods that can be adapted to currently-operating aircraft to specific configurations integrated in future combat aircraft developments, such as the FCAS or in unmanned systems (RPAS).

· Development of the European Cyber Situational Awareness Platform (ECYSAP), which will offer integrated and real-time imaging of cyber threats to which a defense system may be subjected. It will enable immediate reaction capabilities, as well as smart support tools for decision-making.

The other two projects that Indra will participate in as a partner are:

· The anti-collision European system for unmanned aircraft (EUDAAS), which will increase flight safety and will enable the integration of RPAS into the airspace. This is a key capability to enable the operation of large military RPAS without interfering with civil air traffic, and particularly with EuroMALE, currently in development.

· Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) based on Galileo (GEODE) will develop an array of antennas, military receivers and security modules for satellite navigation using the Galileo constellation signals. The devices will be deployed in RPAS, land and naval platforms and time synchronization systems of different nations; furthermore, they will have a common underlying structure that will ensure secure operation of the system.

The 3rd Annual Precision Rifle Expo will be held Sept. 26 – 27, 2020, at the Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia.

Blakely, Ga. (June 2020) – The Precision Rifle Expo (PRE) opens registration for its 3rd annual, two-day event featuring the top brands in the precision, long-range rifle market. This year, the PRE will be held Sept. 26 – 27, 2020, at the Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia. Registration is now open.

With attendance from 2019 exceeding expectations from the inaugural year, 2020 promises attendees an outstanding opportunity to access the exhibitor tent, attend multiple education classes taught by leading names in the precision rifle category, and various range experiences. Novices and professionals, competitors, and industry experts, all converge on one of the Country’s premier shooting facilities to learn from each other, test their skills, and build long-lasting relationships.

This year, attendees will not have to pre-register for any of the classes. Classes will be posted on the website and at the event. Also, pre-registration is $35 with onsite registration at $50. Firearm Industry Praises Senate Passage of Great American Outdoors Act

NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF®, the firearm industry trade association, praised the U.S. Senate’s passage of the Great American Outdoors Act, (H.R. 1957). This historic legislation, which received overwhelming bipartisan support, is among the most meaningful legislative measures for sportsmen conservationists ever. The Senate’s approval is a major step forward toward delivering on the promise of sustained wildlife conservation, public land hunting and recreational shooting on behalf of current and future generations of outdoorsmen and women.

“This is a monumental achievement that demonstrates a continued legacy of bipartisanship on wildlife, public lands and outdoor recreation issues,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “When enacted, this legislation will fulfill a promise to future generations that conservation, access to public lands and outdoor recreation including hunting and recreational shooting will be safeguarded well into the next century.”

The Great American Outdoors Act, introduced in the Senate by Sens. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.), would ensure full, dedicated funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and address the maintenance backlog of public lands and water projects across the United States. Those projects include wildlife habitat conservation, road and trail repairs and increased recreational access to our public lands and waters.

The legislation next heads to the U.S. House of Representatives for approval before it goes to the White House for signature, for which President Donald Trump has already indicated his support.

NSSF is especially grateful for Sens. Gardner and Daines sponsoring the legislation, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for placing this as priority legislation in the Senate and for Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) for their bipartisan leadership. The legislation was introduced with 55 bipartisan co-sponsors.

The legislation builds upon the success of the NSSF-supported John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act, which also enjoyed overwhelming bipartisan support and was signed into law by President Trump in 2019.

GAOA will provide $9.5 billion over five years for deferred federal public lands and waters maintenance projects, with $3 billion set aside for infrastructure restoration on hundreds of millions of acres for increased access for America’s sportsmen and women. The Great American Outdoors Act will also provide $900 million annually for permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The legislation would also ensure that a significant portion of LWCF funding is dedicated to increasing public access for hunting, recreational shooting, fishing and outdoor recreation.

Sportsmen and women play a critical conservation role in the nation’s wildlife resources and to date, hunters and purchasers of firearms and ammunition, collectively, are the single largest source of wildlife conservation funding, contributing more than $13 billion since the enactment of the Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act.

ANOKA, Minnesota – June 15, 2020 – The 350 Legend cartridge offers higher velocities than any straight-wall, deer-hunting cartridge. Federal initially launched the 350 Legend cartridge into its product catalog by offering two soft-point 180-grain options in its Power-Shok and Non-Typical lines. Now, Federal upgrades its product mix by adding a molecularly-bonded Fusion load in the lighter weight of 160 grains. Shipments of this product have begun to arrive at dealers.

“The 350 Legend delivers superior ballistics and fast velocities for a straight-wall cartridge. It has become quite popular because it’s legal for hunting in many areas where bottleneck centerfire rifle cartridges are prohibited,” said Federal Centerfire Product Manager Eric Miller. “Fusion is one of our most loved product lines because it offers best-in-class performance. Refined and modernized for the 21st century, Galco’s Miami Classic II™ for revolvers joins the many existing fits for autos. Like the version for autos, the new Miami Classic II for revolvers carries both the gun and spare ammo horizontally, allowing a fast and natural grasp when drawing the gun or speedloaders. All Miami Classic II harnesses have straps measuring 1 1/2″ at their widest point, distributing weight while also remaining concealable.
A key component of all Galco shoulder systems, including the Miami Classic II for revolvers and autos, is the harness. It uses a four-point harness that pivots independently, connected by our clover-shaped, trademarked Flexalon™ swivel back plate. Along with our patented swivel connectors, this results in a perfect fit and lasting comfort for virtually all body sizes and shapes. The Miami Classic II also features Galco’s improved key-hole harness fastener system that replaces the earlier Chicago screws. This gives you better security, ease of assembly, and greatly reduced chance of fastener loss.
The Miami Classic II is constructed of premium saddle leather and includes holster, harness, ammo carrier and a set of harness fasteners. It’s fully modular, so optional interchangeable accessories and components may be purchased separately to create a unique shoulder system all your own.

Winchester Awarded U.S. Department of Defense Contract

EAST ALTON, Ill. (June 15, 2020) — Winchester® Ammunition has recently been selected for a $38 million contract, this time by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). The selected 9mm frangible ammunition will be used for close-quarter battle (CQB) combat and indoor/outdoor CQB training.
“This is another opportunity for Winchester to demonstrate its leadership in support of the U.S. Warfighter,” said Brett Flaugher, president of Winchester Ammunition.
