R.A.C.E allows for natural replication of audio communication and clear channel delineation during overlaps. MSRP $695-$850.

CAA USA Expands Popular MCK Line to Include S&W Models

Posted on Friday, 5 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

CAA USA, designer and developer of the MCK conversion kits, is expanding its line up to include MCK models for the S&W Shield, the S&W M&P 4”, and the S&W SDVE. As its model variety increases, so do new accessories exclusive for the CAA USA MCK, including a new MCK Glass Breaker and MCKBAYONET.

Pompano Beach (March 2021) – CAA USA, designers and developers of the MCK/Micro Conversion Kit, announce the release of three new MCK models specifically for S&W popular handguns. Now available are the MCK S&W Shield, the MCK S&W M&P 4”, and the MCK S&W SDVE. In addition to the new models, CAA USA is also growing their MCK accessory line with two new additions: the MCK Glass Breaker and the MCKBAYONET.

“There are those who believe that our MCK handgun conversion kit is exclusive to the GLOCK models, this is not accurate, we have an MCK for Springfield’s, Sig Sauer’s, Smith & Wesson’s models as well,” LTC. (Ret.) Mikey Hartman, CEO of CAA USA, explained. “During 2021, we will expand our line to include the Canik, CZ, Taurus, HK, as well as the Sig Sauer X-series and M17/M18. We have recently added to the Smith & Wesson options the SD9/SD40 & the Shield and both have been very well received by Smith & Wesson fans home and abroad.”

The S&W Shield is a super popular subcompact for EDC carry and is also a preferred choice by law enforcement as a back-up. CAA USA took on the S&W Shield challenge and has produced the thinnest conversion kit ever made yet. Featuring an aluminum top Picatinny rail, a Gen2 stabilizer, and a magazine button catch/release, the MCK Shield, just released, is already one of CAA USA’s top sellers. MSRP starts at $289.00.

Another popular S&W handgun, the M&P 4” now has an MCK conversion kit to call its own. CAA USA had already developed the MCK M&P conversion kits for both the 3.6” and the 4.25” model, and consumer demand had CAA USA filling in space with the new 4” MCK model. The MCK S&W 4” conversion kit also features an aluminum top Picatinny rail, Gen2 stabilizer, and mag button catch/release. MSRP starts at $249.00.

Rounding out the new S&W MCK models is the MCK S&W SDVE conversion kit. When the S&W SD9VE pistol was launched in 2012, it became a preferred conceal carry pistol featuring the Smith and Wesson Self Defense Trigger. CAA USA’s MCK SDVE is compatible with both the 9mm and .40 S&W caliber SDVE models and also features an aluminum Picatinny rail, Gen2 stabilizer, and mag button catch/release. MSRP starts at $289.00.

On the accessory side of the business, CAA USA is producing innovative and unique accessories that complement any of their MCK conversion kits. A must-have is the new MCK Glass Breaker, ideal for emergencies and tactical scenarios. Made of aircraft-grade aluminum, this durable glass breaker easily attaches to the barrel shroud of the MCK and fits right in the tactical style and duty application of the MCK. The MCK Glass Breaker works with all MCK and MCKGEN2 models and has an affordable MSRP of just under $60.

The new MCKBAYONET is certainly a talking point, if not a sticking point! Designed in a “thorn” style attachment from aircraft-grade aluminum, the MCKBAYONET is 4” in length and has a sleek, black finish that does not shine or reflect light. It uses the existing flashlight mount on the MCK, making this a quick and easy upgrade to any MCK. MSRP is $54.95.

“We are very proud that the MCK is made 100 percent in America by Americans and is carried by every major distributor in the USA,” Hartman continued. “It is a true honor for us at CAA USA to manufacture the most popular handgun conversion kit in the world. The most gratifying part of it all is to see the excitement on the faces of our loyal customers when our gray box arrives, there is nothing better than that.”

The CAA USA MCK MSRP starts at $249.00 at CAA USA online.

FAA Selects Five Host Airports to Test and Evaluate Unmanned Aircraft Detection and Mitigation Systems

Posted on Friday, 5 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

March 2, 2021

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today selected five host airports to evaluate technologies and systems that could detect and mitigate potential safety risks posed by unmanned aircraft. The effort is part of the agency’s Airport Unmanned Aircraft Systems Detection and Mitigation Research Program.

The FAA selected the following airports:

  • Atlantic City International Airport in Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Syracuse Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, New York
  • Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus, Ohio
  • Huntsville International Airport in Huntsville, Alabama
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seattle, Washington

These airports meet FAA requirements for diverse testing environments and represent airport operating conditions found across the United States.

The research will lead to the implementation of new technologies that will make airports safer for passengers and manned aircraft. Researchers plan to test and evaluate at least 10 technologies or systems at these airports. Testing will begin later this year and continue through 2023. It will create standards for future unmanned aircraft detection and mitigation technologies at airports around the country.

The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 requires the agency to ensure that technologies used to detect or mitigate potential risks posed by unmanned aircraft do not interfere with safe airport operations. The FAA does not support the use of counter-UAS systems by any entities other than federal departments with explicit statutory authority to use this technology, including requirements for extensive coordination with the FAA to ensure safety risks are mitigated.

What’s Up and Coming at EAA Corp

Posted on Friday, 5 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

EAA Corp. CEO Keith Bernkrant chats with CloverTac Productions, Chris Dover, on CloverTac Podcast.

Cocoa, Fla. (March 2021) – EAA Corp.’s CEO Keith Bernkrant returns to the CloverTac podcast to update host Chris Dover and his audience on how EAA Corp. is doing during the pandemic and what’s on the radar for new products in 2021 and 2022.

CloverTac Productions is an East Texas-based media production company devoted to the shooting sports community, safety, education, hunting, and more. Chris Dover, founder and host, invites firearms industry professionals to discuss their business and new products on his popular podcast. He recently caught up with Keith Bernkrant, a second time, to see what’s new at EAA Corp.

Business in the firearms industry has been brisk due to a perfect storm of events: the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing protests and riots across the country, and the presidential election. As a result, new gun ownership is exponentially on the rise. For the gun and ammo companies, this has resulted in unprecedented sales figures and empty shelves at most retailers’ stores. Bernkrant discusses how logistics during this high-demand period has kept EAA Corp. busy and assures listeners that EAA Corp. has been highly adaptable and capable of meeting its distribution channels’ needs.

From the popular MC312 Sport Shotgun with optics to Tanfoglio and Girsan products, Bernkrant discusses products in the works, including Girsan’s new MC9 Optics pistol with FAR DOT. EAA Corp.’s future plans for the Girsan line include producing Girsans (exception will be the Regard pistol line) with no optics adaptor plate; instead, the slide will be machined for optics. The MC9 Optics pistol is the first product of the new production change that incorporates the proprietary optic solution in the FAR DOT sight. Bernkrant spoke to how EAA Corp. is extremely involved in the design of products, including the new sights and how they integrate with the guns. The FAR DOT sight system has resolved the problem of finding the dot; therefore, the user does not have to raise their head off the gun sightline, making for quick target acquisition and repeat shots. Bernkrant also alluded to the future of FAR DOTs being illuminated for low to no light use.

EAA Corp. continues to supply its distribution partners with popular, affordable firearms for hunters and sport shooters. Although 2021 promises to be challenging, Keith Bernkrant informed the CloverTac listeners that EAA Corp. was busy working on a new optic pistol and long gun options, double-stack 1911’s and new 10mm pistol models.

SIR They’re Mooning Us!

Posted on Friday, 5 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

00-story-screaming-into-voidTGIF! We’ve made it through another week. It has not gone unnoticed that we haven’t had a shoot the shit for a few weeks and I sincerely hope you haven’t resorted to seeing a therapist; who, by the way, are salivating over the COVID lockdowns and the corresponding surge in victims, I meant patients, who haven’t figured out that a psychologist is a jackass who majored in psychology so they could understand themselves. Believe me, I understand the emotional toll these lockdowns have taken; however, all of it can be effectively dealt with a bit of exercise and shoot the shits.

So, what’s a shoot the shit? It is a social interaction during which any topic can be discussed. Participants don’t need to know anything about the subject, they are free to make unsupported comments, use uncensured profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether. The efficacy of a good shoot the shit will amaze you and as importantly it will save you $150+ per hour that you can use for other things.

I’ve got to tell you that things are so screwed up that it’s hard to come up with a good topic. The morons that mounted an assault on the U.S. Capitol scared the poop out of the Democrats who want to permanently militarize the Washington D.C. area.  The authorities have gone from requesting .50 caliber M2HB machine guns to having the National Guard permanently remain there. The latest intelligence, was suggesting that the U.S. Capitol would be attacked today by extremists, who remain unnamed by the Capitol Police, in the interest of intelligence security. Hopefully the FBI did more than intercept a couple of rednecks self-actualizing.

Well, Thursday has come and gone and the only assault we may see on 6 March may look something like this …

tenor

Somebody needs to get a handle on this thing and get the U.S. Capitol back to being The People’s House and not a militarized compound! It would be so nice to have adults in Congress. I’m waiting for the Capitol Police to request antiaircraft missile batteries – in case extremists plan mounting an aerial assault.

20210304_093750

As much as possible have a great weekend. Do yourselves a favor and keep your sweat pumps in low speed. Make yours and your kid’s lives better by having family shoot the shits, they work.

NSSF Applauds Sen. Cramer’s ‘Fair Access to Banking Act’

Posted on Thursday, 4 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

Senator Cramer’s ‘Fair Access to Banking’ bill is a crucial, timely piece of legislation that will ensure financial institutions, when deciding whether or not to offer services to fully legal and lawful businesses.

March 3, 2021

Conn. – The NSSF®, the firearm industry’s trade association, applauded U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer’s (R-N.D.) introduction of the Fair Access to Banking Act. The much-needed legislation will pick up where the Fair Access to Financial Services Banking Rule left off, which was proposed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency until the Biden administration “paused” publication of the finalized rule.
The bill was introduced with 26 cosponsors and expands upon the work begun in the last Congress by Sen. Cramer’s introduction of S. 821, Freedom Financing Act. The Fair Access to Banking Act would require banks to provide access to services, capital, and credit based on the objective risk assessment of individual customers, rather than subjective broad-based decisions affecting whole categories or classes of customers.
The Fair Access to Banking Act would stop corporate banks from picking winners and losers based on executives’ personal politics. It also protects banks from outside pressure by special interest groups seeking to use the banks as a political weapon to advance their agenda.
“Senator Cramer’s ‘Fair Access to Banking’ bill is a crucial, timely piece of legislation that will ensure financial institutions, when deciding whether or not to offer services to fully legal and lawful businesses, make such decisions based upon verifiable financial data and not on the political or social views of a few bank executives,” said Lawrence G. Keane, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation. “It is unacceptable that banking institutions increasingly think they can arbitrarily deny services to legal, constitutionally protected businesses such as those in the firearm industry, which gainfully employs hundreds of thousands of Americans and helps guarantee the right to keep and bear arms. The firearm industry thanks Senator Cramer for his work to guarantee all legal and regulated American companies have fair and uniform access to financial services as required by Federal law.”
Corporate banks have privatized “Operation Choke Point,” the illegal discrimination scheme that began under the Obama-Biden administration. The Department of Justice and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation-led (FDIC) effort, directed financial institutions to deny entire industries access to services, including the firearm industry. Despite being a constitutionally-protected industry, the Obama-Biden administration illegally coerced banks to end existing business relationships and denying new ones.
After the illegal practice was ended under the Trump administration, banks and special interest advocates simply privatized this scheme by adopting policies that specifically denied firearm businesses financial services for being in the business of selling certain types of lawful firearms. They forced these discriminatory practices while exploiting taxpayer-funded resources like FDIC insurance protections.
Find more information about how the Fair Access for Banking Act would protect the firearm industry and other industries targeted by illegal discriminatory practices here.

NATO Standardizes FN’s 5.7x28mm Caliber

Posted on Wednesday, 3 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

(McLean, VA – March 1, 2021) FN America, LLC is pleased to announce that the FN-designed 5.7x28mm caliber has been standardized by NATO. The caliber was designed in the late 1980s for use with the FN P90® and FN Five-seveN® pistol. With almost three decades of trusted use, the FN 5.7x28mm continues to leverage the groundbreaking design to improve range, accuracy and terminal performance from small arms. As NATO adds the FN 5.7x28mm to their standard small caliber ammunition portfolio, FN proudly continues its long legacy of small arm innovation as it enhances service to civilians, law enforcement, and militaries across the globe.

Image

In a continuous effort to promote interchangeability of all small caliber ammunition used by allied armed forces, NATO has recently finalized the standardization process of the FN®-designed 5.7x28mm caliber by approving the standardization agreement (STANAG) 4509.

The 5.7x28mm caliber is now integrated into the Multi-Caliber Manual Of Proof and Inspection (AEP-97) and joins the standardized NATO small caliber ammunition portfolio, along with the 9x19mm NATO, the 5.56x45mm NATO, the 7.62x51mm NATO and the 12.7x99mm NATO (also widely known as the .50 caliber).

As a NATO standardized caliber, the 5.7x28mm provides armies with the guarantee of interchangeability between ammunition from different manufacturers and operational efficiency in weapons of this caliber.

Coming after the FN®-designed 5.56x45mm and 7.62x51mm calibers which were standardized by NATO in 1957 and 1981 respectively, this new NATO standardization confirms FN Herstal’s leading position as a designer and manufacturer of small caliber weapon-ammunition systems. It also reinforces the company’s strategy and dedication to provide modern-day armed forces and security forces all across the world with the best performing and efficient small caliber ammunition concepts and designs.

German Precision Optics Launches New SPECTRA™ 6X Riflescopes

RICHMOND, Va. (March 2, 2021) — German Precision Optics (GPO) announces six new riflescopes to its line of premium optics. Designed for today’s discriminating hunter, the new SPECTRA™ 6X riflescope lineup offers precise, reliable and top-of-the-line performance to meet the demands of any situation hunters may find themselves in. A 30mm main tube, proprietary GPObright™ high-transmission lens coating technology, iControl™ illumination technology, PASSIONdrop™ hydrophobic exterior lens coatings and a double HD glass objective lens are just some of the features you will find in these models. Models in the 6X line include the SPECTRA™ 1-6x24i, 1,5-9x32i, 1,5-9x44i, 2-12x44i, 2-12x50i, and 3-18x56i.
Both the SPECTRA 1-6x24i and 1,5-9x32i riflescopes are compact and lightweight, with magnification from 1x to 9x between to 2 models, which allows for quick shooting on fast-moving targets at close range, and a choice between 24mm and 32mm objective lens diameter. The GPO G4i reticle enhances the ability to make fast and accurate shot placements. The SPECTRA 1,5-9x44i also offers a wide magnification range for a scope of its size, but has a 44mm objective lens for enhanced light gathering, and the GPO G4i Drop reticle for precise long-range shot placements.
For medium- and long-range hunting, both the SPECTRA™ 2-12x44i and 2-12x50i feature magnification from 2x to 12x and either the BRWi ballistic reticle or the G4i, with your choice of either a 44mm or 50mm objective lens for enhanced light transmission. For the ultimate in light transmission and low-light accuracy, the SPECTRA 3-18x56i features magnification from 3x to 18x, a massive 56mm objective lens, and the exclusive GPO BRi reticle, which gives you a fully illuminated ballistic reticle with illuminated holdover markers, for the ultimate in long-range precision in low light.
Exclusive to GPO, the proprietary iCONTROL™ illumination system can be adjusted between barely visible for low-light conditions or extremely bright for daylight usage. The system automatically powers down the illumination when the electronic module has been stationary for more than three hours and alerts the user when the battery has 15 percent power remaining.
With the introduction of the Spectra riflescope lines, GPO has modernized the hunting turret systems for the shooting enthusiast who wants both a ballistic turret for easy dialing but also protection from the elements of outdoor field use with a capped ballistic turret. With a low-profile knob that has easy-to-read dial numbers, the aluminum cap fits snugly over the top. This system has clockwise rotating cm click turrets with solid knurled knobs easy to grab in any hunting environment. A blank turret is provided in every box for customization.
The new SPECTRA 6x line of riflescopes are crafted from a solid, one-piece dust-proof, waterproof, nitrogen-filled body that offers constant point-of-impact and the ultimate in strength and durability. Premier Body Armor Delivers Multi-Hit Capable Level IV STRATIS Plate

Posted on Tuesday, 2 March, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

GASTONIA, N.C. – March 1, 2021 – Premier Body Armor is proud to announce availability of its new STRATIS level IV plates. These new composite/polyethylene plates are multi-hit capable and are the ideal for those looking for maximum protection from an exceptionally thin and light plate.

“The new STRATIS Level IV plates are rated to stop multiple hits from the most aggressive small arms ammunition, including M855 and .30-06 AP,” said Frank Stewart, President of Premier Body Armor. “We solve the two most common issues with traditional Level IV plates with this product. Traditional Level IV plates are heavy and fragile. We’ve utilized a tiled composite strike face that isolates trauma to the plate, thus allowing the plate to be drop-resistant and multi-hit capable. We lighten the overall weight of the plate by several pounds by using the latest Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene technology as the ballistic core of the armor. As with all of our armor solutions, the STRATIS Level IV plate is 100% made in the U.S.A.”

The STRAITS Level IV plates are special threat tested against these calibers at a distance of 15 meters:

  • 7.62×39 123gr PS Ball (MSC)
  • 7.62×51 147gr FMJ (M80) – up to 2850 ft/s
  • 5.56×45 55gr (M193) up to 3150ft/s
  • 5.56x45mm 62 grain steel core (M855)
  • 5.56x45mm M855 A1
  • 7.62x63mm M2 AP (.30-06)

These 10” x 12” single curve ESPAI cut plates meet the NIJ 0101.06 Level IV ballistic standard. STRAIS plates come with a 10-year warranty. The 5.3-pound plates are just .9” thick and finished with a Polyurea outer covering for abrasion and moisture resistance.

NDIA joins call for Section 3610 extension through fiscal year

Feb. 26, 2021

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association is among 11 trade organizations asking Congress to extend Section 3610 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which gives agencies funds to cover certain contractor costs and keep skilled personnel and workers in a ready state during the COVID-19 response, the organization announces today.
The Arlington, Virginia-based NDIA signed the Feb. 25 letter to the leadership of the House and Senate, urging for a six-month extension of Section 3610 to Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year. Without an extension, the authority will expire March 31.
The letter states that many federal agencies continue to use Section 3610 authority “to maintain the capabilities and workforce necessary to meet mission needs and protect our national security and other vital programs.” Further, it emphasizes that agencies are not mandated to use Section 3610, but “it is a tool the government can employ when needed to maintain their contractor workforce when COVID-19 forces facility closures, the implementation of social distancing measures and staggered shift work for those who are physically in the workplace.”
Sens. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), chair and vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, also sent a Feb. 25 letter to Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) imploring the extension of Section 3610. Their letter is available here<https://content.ndia.org/-/media/sites/press-releases/documents/2021/schumermcconnell_ssci_25feb21.ashx>.
NDIA signed the letter, available here<https://content.ndia.org/-/media/sites/press-releases/documents/2021/3610-multiassociation-extension-request-letter-final-for-distribution.ashx>, along with the Aerospace Industries Association, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the Associated General Contractors of America, the Center for Procurement Advocacy, the Computing Technology Industry Association, the Information Technology Industry Council, the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, the Professional Services Council, the Security Industry Association and the Shipbuilders Council of America.

Does MK Machining offer a military discount? — Knoji

Adaptive Precision Grip

Vertical.  Modular.  Customizable.

We wanted to make a precision oriented grip that wasn’t dedicated to a specific purpose.  So, we did.  With interchangeable grip panels, thumb rests, and more ideas planned, this grip can fill a variety of roles.

Get a Grip

Different textures for different folks.  Depending on just how secure you want your grip to be, we’ve got a variety of options.

Textures In Dropdown Menu

For those concerned mainly with precision work, a thumb rest was a very popular request.  Initially there are three offerings available for just $9.99.  These slide into a T-slot on the grip chassis, and are secured when the grip is bolted onto a firearm.
A “blank” T-Slot filler is included with a grip, thumb rests are optional.

Thumb Rest Add-On Pack

We have inventory conservatively set on the site, with backorders allowed. Email support@mkmachining.com if you’ve got any questions.  Figure one week for shipping and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
As always, thanks for supporting a small USA business.

Grip It. Grip It Good.

The Voodoo Behind EOTECH® Vudu® Rifle Scopes

Posted on Friday, 26 February, 2021 by twobirdsflyingpub

EOTECH® Vudu® Rifle Scopes

Pictured above: 5-25 x 50 FFP

Ann Arbor, MI (February 25, 2021) While Vudu® is relatively new compared to its parent company, EOTECH®, it has built a rock-solid reputation in the optics world. It has very quickly become the go-to-optic among precision shooters, hunters and operators with good reason!

There’s a kind of magic at work in a Vudu rifle scope. A long list of drool-inducing features and tough-as-nails construction somehow come together to create a precision amalgamation that is surprisingly affordable for a top-notch rifle optic. The recipe behind EOTECH’s line of Vudu rifle scopes creates a heady brew of durability, precision and versatility. Every scope is engineered and built to withstand the most rugged use and toughest conditions while also meeting the precision and performance demands of today’s serious precision shooters.

The body of every Vudu scope is cut from a solid piece of aircraft-grade aluminum and has a hard-anodized, durable finish. This combination provides clear advantages in the field, protecting the internal glass from water, fog dust and grime. All Vudu scopes are shock-resistant and can take a serious beating.

Vudu riflescopes offer both first-focal-plane and second-focal-plane models to suit all shooting applications. From low power variable optics (LPVO’s) designed for quick and accurate target acquisition, to medium and high powered rifle scopes that include bullet drop and wind hold solutions, the Vudu scope line has it covered.

Vudu lenses set the standard in scope design with superior optical clarity and shooter-friendly features. All scopes feature the highest-quality multi-coated, super-clear XC High-Density glass that provides incredible light transmission and color reproduction. This allows for exceptional edge-to-edge clarity and resolution.

With Vudu’s illuminated scope reticles that include either glass-etched or fiber-optic illumination solutions, shooters will find target acquisition in any lighting condition fast and absolute. With simple push-button operation and ten brightness levels, it can adapt to any situation, and a 2-hour auto-shutoff feature ensures the batteries won’t be drained when stored. Plus, etched reticles mean the scope can be used during daylight hours, without the illumination feature.

Vudu’s one-piece eyepiece makes transitioning from low to high magnification easy and fluid. The included, removable throw lever is easy to locate and allows shooters quick magnification changes. Vudu’s surgically precise turret systems allow shooters to re-index to zero after sighting in their optic, allowing for confident windage and elevation adjustments in the field to ensure critical shots hit their mark when it matters most.

With the variety of models currently available with a host of reticles to choose from, there’s a special brew that’s perfect for every shooter. For more information, visit www.eotechinc.com.
