ICYMI: Biden Gun Control Would Choke Gun Sales

NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF^®, the trade association for the firearm industry, is shining a spotlight on former Vice President Joe Biden’s radical antigun campaign promise to end gun sales as America knows it. His far-left driven agenda would end Second Amendment rights to lawfully acquire, keep and bear firearms by individuals by dismantling the Constitutionally-protected commerce in arms.

“The single greatest threat to gun rights in America is Joe Biden. The single greatest safeguard against his agenda is an educated and engaged voter in the voting booth,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Joe Biden blatantly called the firearm industry ‘the enemy’ from the debate stage. His agenda to restrict the lawful means for Americans to exercise their Second Amendment right is a grave danger to our God-given rights and our civil liberties. All Americans must understand the unconstitutional overreach he would enact to obliterate firearm businesses across America.”

The Biden-Harris gun control agenda would stamp out firearm retailers and deny their customers the ability to shop online and purchase firearms, which can only be transferred by the retailer to the customer in a face-to-face transaction after a mandatory FBI background check. A Biden-Harris administration would end the online sale of ammunition and all gun parts, eliminating the right Americans have enjoyed since the founding of our nation to make and assemble their own firearm. They claim to support “gun safety” but want to make it difficult for gun owners to repair their firearms. Lastly, Biden and running mate U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) would ration the exercise of the Second Amendment by restricting law abiding Americans to purchasing just one firearm a month. This is a constraint of which has never been considered – and would never be tolerated – for any individual right contained in the Bill of Rights.

More than 5 million Americans purchased a firearm for the first time in 2020, based on a NSSF retailer survey. Fully 40 percent of these new gun owners are women. The largest increase of any demographic is among African-Americans, which skyrocketed 58 percent over 2019. To date, more than 13.8 million background checks have been completed for the sale of a firearm, surpassing 2019’s full-year total of nearly 13.2 million.

NSSF strongly opposes these unconstitutional proposals of the Biden-Harris campaign and encourages all Americans to vote on Election Day to protect their Second Amendment rights.

Czech Republic chooses Rafael’s SPYDER air defense system

The Czech Ministry of Defense has Informed the Israel Ministry of Defense of its Decision to Equip its Military with an Israeli Air Defense System Produced by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

Defense Minister, Benny Gantz: “We thank the Czech government for their partnership and for the decision to equip their military with Israeli air defense systems. This is another significant step in strengthening security relations between our two countries, and it is also great news for Israeli defense industries during such a complex period.”

Following an international tender process, which lasted several years, the Czech Ministry of Defense informed the Directorate of International Defense Cooperation (SIBAT) in the Israel Ministry of Defense, of its decision to equip its military with Israeli air defense systems.

On Friday (25.09.2020), the Czech government approved the launch of procurement negotiations for four Israeli “SPYDER” batteries, within the framework of a GTG agreement between the two countries. Israel was selected as the sole supplier for the project and the expected agreement between the countries’ defense ministries is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.

SPYDER (Surface-to-Air Python & Derby), is a quick reaction, low- to-high surface-to-air missile system designed to counter attacks by a variety of aerial threats including aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. The system provides effective protection of valuable assets, as well as first-class defense for maneuvering forces located in combat areas. The SPYDER system includes a radar system produced by Elta, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association and members of the Acquisition Reform Working Group submitted the annual packet for the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2021, the Arlington, Virginia, nonprofit group announces today.
Some of the themes covered include: comprehensive reforms to weapon systems acquisition; improvements to commercial-item procurements; and enhancing public-private partnerships to support warfighting capabilities. FN has been the sole source manufacturer of the 5.56-chambered belt-fed lightweight machine gun. ECA GROUP reaches another milestone to manufacture drones in Belgium for the MCM program of the Belgian Navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy

ECA Robotics, a French subsidiary of ECA GROUP, has recently signed a contract worth several hundred million euros. This contract comprises the outsourcing to its Belgian subsidiary ECA Robotics Belgium of the manufacturing and delivery of unmanned vehicles dedicated to underwater mine countermeasures as part of the renewal of the mine countermeasures capacity.

Belgium and the Netherlands have awarded the renewal program to the consortium Belgium Naval & Robotics, set up by Naval Group and ECA GROUP. This program consists of 12 new generation vessels (six for the Belgian Navy and six for the Royal Netherlands Navy) and containerized systems. It is the first program that applies the stand-off concept by using a Toolbox. This Toolbox is comprised of several unmanned vehicles that operators can command and deploy from a safe distance in order to carry out autonomous mine countermeasure missions.

The contract that ECA Robotics France awards to ECA Robotics Belgium involves the manufacturing, supplying and delivery of the following products:

The USV INSPECTOR 125-M: surface drone capable of deploying all of the Toolbox elements in a specific zone
The USV INSPECTOR 125-S: surface drone able to tow a sweep system for mine clearance
The sweep system which will be equipped with magnetic and acoustic modules
The AUV A18-M: underwater drone integrating the synthetic aperture sonar UMISAS used for mine detection
Towed sonar T18-M: sonar towed by the USV and which also detects mines
MIDS system (Mine Identification and Disposal System) consisting of the SEASCAN MK2 and the K-STER C. These two components respectively ensure the identification and the clearance of the mines
Transfer and integration of the UMISOFT software for the management of the mission and data analysis
Supply of UAV V200 Skeldar aerial drones with integrated payloads (LiDAR, optronics pod) for the detection and identification of surface mines, and communication relay
Acceptance tests and trials for the systems
Training
Program management

The unmanned vehicles will be manufactured in a new, very modern plant to be built in Ostend, Belgium. Building will start early 2021 so that production can commence in 2022.

ECA Robotics Belgium will recruit about 70 people in Belgium to achieve the production for the contract that will take circa 10 years to complete. In addition, ECA Robotics Belgium will be able to perform maintenance on drones at the plant upon delivery of the first drones.

PRIMARY ARMS OPTICS EARNS 6 NEW RECOMMENDED RATINGS BY NATIONAL TACTICAL OFFICERS ASSOCIATION

HOUSTON, TEXAS – Primary Arms Optics has received six new ratings from the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), which evaluates products based on their performance in tactical law enforcement applications. These ratings cover many of Primary Arms’ 2020 releases, including the SLx® 3x Gen III Prism, the SLx 5x Gen III Prism, the SLx MD-25 Red Dot Sight, the GLx® 2x Prism, the GLx 2.5-10×44 FFP Rifle Scope, and GLx 30mm Rifle Scope Mount.
The NTOA’s testing draws from real-world performance, evaluating products by their build quality, ease-of-use, design features, and practicality for law enforcement operations. These tests cover weeks of analysis and trial usage, grading products according to at least 6 of 13 major evaluating criteria. To pass, the product must average at least a 3 across all criteria. Special recognition is granted to products that perform exceptionally well, achieving ‘Silver’ rating with a 4-4.49 average, or a ‘Gold’ rating with 4.5+.
This year, Primary Arms submitted 6 new products for evaluation, and each product came back with a positive recommendation by the NTOA assessors. Last year, Primary Arms received 5 ratings, with three optics earning silver rating, and two earning a full gold rating. In 2020, the first positive recommendation came for the SLx 3x Gen III Prism with ACSS CQB-M2 5.56 Reticle. Recognized for their exceptional performance, the SLx MD-25, GLx 2x Prism with ACSS CQB-M5 5.56/.308/5.45 Reticle, GLx 2.5-10x44mm FFP Rifle Scope with ACSS® Raptor M2 Reticle, and GLx 30mm 0 MOA Rifle Scope Mount received silver-medal recognition from their evaluators. The SLx 5x Gen III Prism with ACSS Aurora® M 5.56 Reticle went on to receive gold-medal recognition, the highest possible ranking with an average score of 4.52 out of 5. Evaluating officers noted the 5x Prism’s durability and image quality, which is supplemented by a versatile magnification and intuitive reticle design.

Operationally Parallax-free Optics

Operationally Parallax-free optics allow the shooter to achieve accurate hits on target without the requirement of a consistent address to the rifle. Parallax is essentially error in the transmission of light through the optic to the shooter resulting in a shift (sometimes significant) in the presentation of the dot (or reticle) on the target. In an optic that experiences this phenomena, the shooter must establish a consistent cheek weld in order to receive accurate information. In that circumstance, if the dot/reticle appears to the shooter it may represent a dangerously inaccurate aiming solution.

Conversely, in an operationally parallax-free optic – such as an Aimpoint sight – the shooter can trust the reticle no matter how they find it. A proper cheek weld is not required and accuracy is not compromised if the rifle is poorly mounted.

A rifle that features an Aimpoint optic and is properly zeroed gives the shooter great latitude in the employment of the weapon in any operational environment. Find the dot on the target and press the trigger.

Team Federal Hosted Successful PRS Series Gold Medal Match

ANOKA, Minnesota – September 18, 2020 – Federal Ammunition and Team Federal recently hosted its second annual Federal Gold Medal Match, a Precision Rifle Series Pro Series match, September 12-13, at Alabama Precision in Carbon Hill, Alabama.

Match Director, Jim Saunders, and his team presented a challenging course of fire for the PRS Pro Series Qualifier match which saw nearly 150 competitors battling heat, humidity and switching winds over the two days. Team Federal shooters Brian Allen and Shannon Kay both turned in strong performances with Kay finishing sixth overall and Allen finishing twelfth and earning the Top Senior trophy.

“This was a fantastic match. From the challenging course of fire to the support Federal showed the competitors, everything was top notch,” said Allan. “I’m proud to represent Team Federal and appreciate all their support for the precision rifle community.”

Greg Holloway, Ryan Hansen, Spence Pepper, Robert Brantley and Justin Pender all earned custom trophies for the top five shooters in the Open division. In addition to bringing home the coolest trophy on the entire PRS Pro Series circuit, Holloway also won a custom rifle built and presented by Team Federal’s own Brian Allen with A-Team Precision.

In other divisions, Ben Gossett earned the Top Military/Law Enforcement trophy for the second consecutive year. Phil Cashin of Masterpiece Arms won the trophy for the Production division. A strong performance from Melissa Gilliland earned her the Top Lady trophy. The Top Junior trophy went to Luke Holbrook. Finally, Mark Cooper used his .308 Win. to claim the Top Tactical trophy.

One highlight of the match came when Federal’s Shooting Sports Promotions Manager Jason Spradling and Phil Cashin from Masterpiece Arms presented a custom rifle to a deserving new shooter. The recipient, shooting his first match, was using a borrowed rifle and gear. He shot with a great attitude and showed excitement and passion for the sport.
