Winchester Assumes Full Management and Operational Control of Lake City Army Ammunition Plant

Olin Corporation announced today that its ammunition division assumed full management and operational control of the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.

CLAYTON, Mo. (October 1, 2020) — Olin Corporation (NYSE: OLN) announced that effective today, its ammunition division, Olin Winchester LLC (“Winchester”), assumed full management and operational control of the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. The U.S. Army selected Winchester to operate and manage the Lake City plant in September 2019. The contract has an initial term of seven years and may be extended by the U.S. Army for up to three additional years. Winchester is now the world’s largest small arms ammunition manufacturer.

Target size will vary in difficulty based on the shooter’s position, distance and time allotted. Most stages will include “stressors” of time and/or movement. Federal and CCI Ammunition Sponsored Shooters Set Multiple New Records at the Recent World Speed Shooting Championships

FP_WorldSpeedShootingChampionship_lg2ANOKA, Minnesota – October 1, 2020 – Team Federal/CCI had an excellent showing, setting several world records, at the recent 2020 Palmetto State Armory and Lead Star Arms World Speed Shooting Championships, presented by Federal Ammunition. The event was held September 23-27 at CMP Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama.

“With almost 650 guns across 13 divisions, the fast action and exciting turn of events of this match was thrilling to watch,” said Federal’s Shooting Sports Promotions Manager Jason Spradling. “Especially from three of our Team Federal/CCI shooters—Chris Barrett, Cole Busch, and Grant Kunkel—who dominated the match and claimed four world records. All three shooters run CCI 22 LR rimfire ammunition and Federal Syntech 9mm in their match guns.”

Early in the 2020 match, Team Federal/CCI shooter Grant Kunkel set a new world record in the Rimfire Rifle Optics Division with a blistering aggregate time of 57.52 seconds. Grant’s record time was short-lived, however, as his teammate Chris Barrett beat him out, the very next day, by taking first place and setting a new world record aggregate time of 56.57 seconds in that division.

Chris Barrett went on to claim two more first place finishes while setting new world records in the PCC Optics Division with a time of 60.33, and the PCC Irons Division with a time of 59.48.

Cole Busch claimed first place while setting a new world record in the Rimfire Rifle Irons Division with a time of 58.86 seconds.

Overall, Team Federal/CCI shooters claimed 4 first-place finishes, 15 top-five finishes and 18 top-ten finishes in eight of the divisions.

For the Rifle Master Title, Barrett, Kunkel and Busch finished first, second and third, respectively. Additionally, Busch earned the title of Rimfire Master.

“I’ve been so proud of these three young men and the hard work they’ve put into their sport. They each have a focus and determination to win that will make them champions in whatever they choose to pursue,” said Spradling. “Chris, Grant and Cole have demonstrated that they are the best all-around shooters in Steel Challenge. Fortunately for us, they’re also some of the best people and I’m proud to have them on our team. We congratulate all shooters on Team Federal/CCI for a job well done.”

The Israel Ministry of Defense has Delivered an Iron Dome Battery Developed by Rafael to the U.S. Army

È¯È ÎÈÙ˙ ·¯ÊÏ ‡˘„„ „Ò˜Today (30.09.2020), the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO), in the Directorate of Defense R&D (DDR&D), of the Israel Ministry of Defense, delivered the first of two Iron Dome Defense System batteries to the U.S. Army. On this occasion, a symbolic event was held at the Iron Dome production line of defense contractor, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz: “The Iron Dome system, as a part of [Israel’s] multi-layered missile defense system, reflects the strength of the Israeli defense establishment. As a result of the effectiveness of this system, many deaths were prevented on the home front of southern Israel, and it has a significant impact on the battlefield. I am proud that this advanced system will also protect U.S. Army troops. This is an extraordinary achievement for both the Ministry of Defense and for Israel’s excellent defense industries.

Last week I visited the United States and met with senior officials in the U.S. Department of Defense and the military. Among other things, we discussed procurement and information sharing in the field of technology.  The completion of this agreement serves as further proof that the defense alliance [between the U.S. and Israel], is based on common values and interests, which are stronger than ever.”

The event was conducted in the presence of Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, Minister of Economy, Amir Peretz, Head of the DDR&D, Dr. Dani Gold, Head of the IMDO, Moshe Patel Rafael Chairman, Dr. Uzi Landau, and Rafael CEO, Yoav Har-Even. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was conducted in accordance to regulations set by the Ministry of Health.

In August 2019 the United States and Israel signed an agreement for the procurement of two Iron Dome Defense System batteries (IDDS-A). The first battery was delivered in record time, and the second battery will be delivered in the near future within the framework of the agreement. These batteries will be employed in the defense of US troops against a variety of ballistic and aerial threats.

Head of the IMDO in the DDR&D of the Ministry of Defense: “In the coming year, The Iron Dome system will complete ten years of operational activity, with over 2,400 interceptions. This activity has saved thousands of lives. It is a great privilege for the State of Israel to deliver the first out of two Iron Dome batteries to the U.S. Army, for the protection of American troops. The very fact that we are handing over the first battery, a year after the agreement was signed, is an achievement in itself- alongside production for the benefit of the State of Israel, we have met the requirements of the U.S. military.”

Rafael Executive Vice President and Head of Air and Missile Defense Division, Pini Yungman: “The Iron Dome system which will serve the U.S. military is tailored according to U.S. requirements. This being said, its performance capabilities, as seen in Israel, will remain the same. We began the project with a series of tests and demonstrations in the ‘White Sands’ testing field in the US. To date, we have conducted three demonstrations and intercepted targets chosen by the U.S. Army for the Iron Dome system.”

The Iron Dome system has been operational in Israel since 2011 and has demonstrated its outstanding capabilities with over 2400 successful interceptions of incoming threats. It is an integral part of Israel’s multi-layered defense array developed by the IMDO. The defense array includes the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow-2 and Arrow-3 weapon systems.

The prime contractor for the development and production of the Iron Dome is Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The MMR radar is developed by ELTA, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and the command and control system (BMC), is developed by mPrest.

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. to Acquire Marlin Firearms Assets

SOUTHPORT, Conn.–Sturm, Ruger and Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) announced today that its offer to purchase substantially all of the Marlin Firearms assets was accepted by Remington Outdoor Company, Inc. and approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The Company will pay the $30 million purchase price from cash on hand at the time of closing, which is expected to occur in October.

“The value of Marlin and its 150-year legacy was too great of an opportunity for us to pass up,” said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. “The brand aligns perfectly with ours and the Marlin product portfolio will help us widen our already diverse product offerings.”

The transaction is exclusively for the Marlin Firearms assets. Remington firearms, ammunition, other Remington Outdoor brands, and all facilities and real estate are excluded from the Ruger purchase. Once the purchase is completed, the Company will begin the process of relocating the Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities.

U. S. Coast Guard Selects and Fields GLOCK Pistols

ICYMI: Biden Gun Control Would Choke Gun Sales

NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF®, the trade association for the firearm industry, is shining a spotlight on former Vice President Joe Biden’s radical antigun campaign promise to end gun sales as America knows it. His far-left driven agenda would end Second Amendment rights to lawfully acquire, keep and bear firearms by individuals by dismantling the Constitutionally-protected commerce in arms.

“The single greatest threat to gun rights in America is Joe Biden. The single greatest safeguard against his agenda is an educated and engaged voter in the voting booth,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Joe Biden blatantly called the firearm industry ‘the enemy’ from the debate stage. His agenda to restrict the lawful means for Americans to exercise their Second Amendment right is a grave danger to our God-given rights and our civil liberties. All Americans must understand the unconstitutional overreach he would enact to obliterate firearm businesses across America.”

The Biden-Harris gun control agenda would stamp out firearm retailers and deny their customers the ability to shop online and purchase firearms, which can only be transferred by the retailer to the customer in a face-to-face transaction after a mandatory FBI background check. A Biden-Harris administration would end the online sale of ammunition and all gun parts, eliminating the right Americans have enjoyed since the founding of our nation to make and assemble their own firearm. They claim to support “gun safety” but want to make it difficult for gun owners to repair their firearms. Lastly, Biden and running mate U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) would ration the exercise of the Second Amendment by restricting law abiding Americans to purchasing just one firearm a month. This is a constraint of which has never been considered – and would never be tolerated – for any individual right contained in the Bill of Rights.

More than 5 million Americans purchased a firearm for the first time in 2020, based on a NSSF retailer survey. Fully 40 percent of these new gun owners are women. The largest increase of any demographic is among African-Americans, which skyrocketed 58 percent over 2019. To date, more than 13.8 million background checks have been completed for the sale of a firearm, surpassing 2019’s full-year total of nearly 13.2 million.

NSSF strongly opposes these unconstitutional proposals of the Biden-Harris campaign and encourages all Americans to vote on Election Day to protect their Second Amendment rights.

Czech Republic chooses Rafael’s SPYDER air defense system

Spyder-SR FiringThe Czech Ministry of Defense has Informed the Israel Ministry of Defense of its Decision to Equip its Military with an Israeli Air Defense System Produced by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

Defense Minister, Benny Gantz: “We thank the Czech government for their partnership and for the decision to equip their military with Israeli air defense systems. This is another significant step in strengthening security relations between our two countries, and it is also great news for Israeli defense industries during such a complex period.”

Following an international tender process, which lasted several years, the Czech Ministry of Defense informed the Directorate of International Defense Cooperation (SIBAT) in the Israel Ministry of Defense, of its decision to equip its military with Israeli air defense systems.

On Friday (25.09.2020), the Czech government approved the launch of procurement negotiations for four Israeli “SPYDER” batteries, within the framework of a GTG agreement between the two countries. Israel was selected as the sole supplier for the project and the expected agreement between the countries’ defense ministries is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.

SPYDER (Surface-to-Air Python & Derby), is a quick reaction, low- to-high surface-to-air missile system designed to counter attacks by a variety of aerial threats including aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. The system provides effective protection of valuable assets, as well as first-class defense for maneuvering forces located in combat areas. The SPYDER system includes a radar system produced by Elta, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association and members of the Acquisition Reform Working Group submitted the annual packet for the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2021, the Arlington, Virginia, nonprofit group announces today.
Some of the themes covered include: comprehensive reforms to weapon systems acquisition; improvements to commercial-item procurements; and enhancing public-private partnerships to support warfighting capabilities. FN Awarded U.S. Army Contract for M249 SAW
