Newly Updated Sizing and Flaring Dies for Shell Shock’s 9mm NAS³ Cases Now available from S3 RELOAD

Two different reloading die sets are now available for purchase for Shell Shock Technologies’ NAS3 cases.

Set One includes one S3 RELOAD and LEE Carbide 9mm Luger sizing de-capping die and one S3 RELOAD 9mm Luger expanding flaring die

Westport, Conn. (October 2020)Shell Shock Technologies, LLC., an early-stage technology and manufacturing company focused on developing innovative case technologies for the ammunition industry, is pleased to announce that two new reloading die sets are available from S3 RELOAD™. The reloading dies are used to reload Shell Shock’s 9mm NAS³ cases.

Set One includes one S3 RELOAD and LEE Carbide 9mm Luger sizing de-capping die and one S3 RELOAD 9mm Luger expanding flaring die. Designed specifically for reloading of Shell Shock Technologies’ 9mm Luger NAS3 9mm cartridge casings, the S3 RELOAD carbide die set fits 7/8-14” presses and features a unique spring-loaded mechanism to push cases out of the die, instead of pulling cases by the rim/ejector grove. The dies have been successfully tested with five-station Dillon, Hornady, RCBS, and Lee presses. For these presses, the flaring die can be mounted in the station before the powder drop. MSRP $85.95.

Set Two includes one S3 RELOAD and Lee Carbide 9mm Luger sizing de-capping die and one S3 RELOAD 9mm 380 ACP Powder Funnel for Dillon. The new and improved powder funnel will last longer, properly flaring and seating the bullet inside brass or NAS3 casing to prevent tipping over of the bullet during indexing of the shell plate. Made from wear-resistant hardened stainless steel, the funnel is designed to lower friction during flaring of brass or NAS³ cases. MSRP $85.95.

Full S3 RELOAD die instructions are available on the S3 RELOAD website https://s3reload.com/technology/.

Shell Shock Technologies’ NAS3 cases do not require any special dies for the initial loading, but S3 RELOAD dies are required for reloading pistol cases as our cases are not only a different material than a brass case but they also end up being a different physical shape after firing. NAS3 cases spring back to virtually their original size after being fired.

No special dies are required to seat the bullet or crimp the 9mm NAS3 cases. NAS³ cases only require a very light touch with the crimping dies as the tensile strength of the stainless-steel cylinders tends to grip a bullet tighter than a brass case would.

The body of the sizing die and its carbide insert is manufactured by Lee Precision. The other components of these sets are manufactured by S3 RELOAD.

About Shell Shock’s NAS3 Cases:

Shell Shock’s NAS3 9mm cases are 50 percent lighter than brass cases, offer greater lubricity, and will not abrade, clog, foul, wear-out, or damage breach and ejector mechanisms. The cases offer greater corrosion resistance, tensile strength (2x stronger), and elasticity in comparison to brass. NAS3 cases will not split, chip, crack, or grow (stretch). They are fully reloadable (using S3 Reload dies) and can be reloaded many more times than brass cases. NAS3 cases have been tested successfully by customers to pressures over 70k psi. NAS3 cases can be picked up with a magnet. The head can be colored for branding purposes and easy load identification.

NAS3 is “Best in Class” for maintaining consistent velocity between rounds. In an independent test performed by H.P. White Laboratory (a major munitions testing facility), rounds fired using NAS3 cases achieved a velocity standard deviation of 0.093 FPS (124-grain FMJ bullet, 4.2 grains Titegroup powder, 10 rounds, extreme variation 3fps).

Beating Your Meat Could Save Your Life

Man, it’s been three weeks since I’ve had a shoot the shit and I really need one. What a month? I had two fellow service members pass away and I already miss them, There’s comradery that comes with military service which is more often than not thicker than blood. “Fair winds and following seas to John and Rick.” Adding to that, I’ve been informally working to reelect the President. If you’ve been keeping up with the political climate you know all too well that one could easily end global hunger with the bull shit being fed to our voters by the Democrat Party. It’s unreal!

Meat Tenderize GIF - Meat Tenderize Beating - Discover & Share GIFs

Having said that, you’ll be proud of me not resorting to paying $150+ per hour to some jackass who majored in psychology so they could understand themselves. As evidence of the appropriateness of my decision let’s visit the Jeffrey Toobin, CNN Legal Analyst, incident. Jeff, apparently, had a couple of ZOOM video calls in progress, one with the New Yorker Magazine and the other with an unidentified participant. It’s been reported that during a pause in the call with the New Yorker, for some breakout discussions, Jeffery Toobin switched to a second call that was the video-call equivalent of phone sex, according to the two people familiar with the call, apparently Jeff thought he had the call with The New Yorker muted but as luck would have it NOT! It appears that Jeff was exposing himself to the second caller. Who was that second caller?

Could it be a psychologist attempting to diagnose PDD? People with PDD feel shame and anxiety about penis size. They may mistakenly believe that they have a micropenis, even when their penis size is normal. Jeffery may have attempted to enlarge his tool responding by beating his meat . Who the hell knows, but CNN and The New Yorker told him to take a little time off.

But was it a case of PDD or was it due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The only people that have handled the lockdown well are ex submarine sailors, everyone one else is committing suicide. I say this jokingly but suicides are through the roof, and before you consider suicide schedule a shoot the shit and beat your meat, which is permissible.

What is a shoot the shit? It is a social interaction during which the participants don’t need to know anything about the topic, they can make any unsupported comment, they can use uncensured profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether.

For this shoot the shit, I’d like to talk a little about cultural interactions in language and art.

Cubans speak Spanish, there’s is no such thing as speaking Cuban; however, there are applications of Spanish words in its vernacular that completely misrepresent the original word. One such word is Coño (pronounced kon-yo). The correct meaning of Coño is the female genital pubescence. But to a Cuban, saying Coño communicates a variety of things. For example, you’re sitting at an outdoor café in Zurich having a CAFE CREME when you see a gorgeous woman walk past you. You say Konyoooooo! However, you wake up to urinate in the middle of the night and stub your toe you say KONyo that’s a loud and hard emphasis on the KON. And, if you’re being annoyed by some jackass you would say el KONYO de tu madre, referring to his or her mother’s genital pubescence. So as you can see, a word like Conyo has many uses. If you find yourself in Barcelona, Coño retains its proper meaning.

Since the appearance of man, art has been both a tool and an expression of human condition. Russia has consistently excelled in the fine arts: ballet, symphony and prose. Russian art has one defining characteristic it is very intense and usually tragic, simply stated it is deeply profound. But in its somber tone there lies enormous inspiration; for example, Tchaikovsky’s – the Full 1812 Overture (with Cannons). Try taking in this piece before you show up at your advanced tactical carbine class. Film is equally powerful and one of the best Russian directors is a Muscovite by the name of Andrei Konchalovsky.

Konchalovsky’s recent film, is the story of Michelangelo, titled SIN Il Peccato (il Peccato is sin in Italian). It’s superbly directed, powerful and worth watching. Konchalovsky does an amazing job of capturing all the savagery of the Renaissance Period that’s normally overlooked in other films. Here’s the official trailer.

All right folks, it’s Friday so have a great weekend; be safe be happy and schedule your own shoot the shit, the benefits are measurable.

CMC Triggers Announces the Release of the KRAGOS™ Glock® Aftermarket Slide

CMC Triggers Logo

ABOUT US TRIGGERS BARRELS PARTS

CMC Triggers KRAGOS Slide on Glock 17

Fort Worth TX: CMC Triggers’ new KRAGOS™ Glock® compatible slide symbolizes victory and strength, much like that of the Greek God in which the name was inspired. The KRAGOS™ Slide solidifies CMC’s reputation for producing premium aftermarket Glock® parts and accessories. The aggressively sleek design and enhanced aesthetics of the KRAGOS™ improve accuracy and performance without sacrificing reliability or concealment.

The KRAGOS™ is manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility to tighter tolerances than factory slides for increased consistency in barrel lockup, improving accuracy. Constructed from 17-4 stainless-steel billet, CMC’s KRAGOS™ Glock® Slides are then heat-treated to H900 42-44RC and coated with a Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) finish for added corrosion resistance and durability. DLC coatings exhibit a desirable combination of low coefficient friction and high micro-hardness, making it the perfect upgrade in high wear applications.

The KRAGOS™ features a wraparound scalloped serration pattern that improves grip while manipulating the slide, like press checking the chamber or clearing a malfunction. The 45-degree chamfer edge eases holster ingress and egress, preventing snags on gear. All slides come with standard Glock® sight cuts equipped with tritium night sights and pre-cut optic pocket for the easy, secure, low-profile mounting that accommodates all red dot pistol optics that share an RMR® footprint.

The KRAGOS™ Slide accepts factory or aftermarket barrels and parts, is the ideal upgrade for your factory Gen 3 Glock® 17 or Glock® 19 pistols and pairs nicely with Polymer 80 frames for new custom gun builds.

October 21, 2020

NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF®, the trade association for the firearm industry, is pleased to announce the launch of the new #RangeChallengeSM “Aiming in Autumn” target game for use by indoor and outdoor ranges across the country.

Building on the success of the #RangeChallenge Summer Series, which debuted during August’s National Shooting Sports Month® and concluded on the last day of summer, this fun activity was developed to encourage range participation and mentorship by shooters of all experience levels. It offers a distinct challenge to those who regularly participate in the shooting sports, while offering a highly entertaining and easy introduction to target shooting for those new to firearms. Supported by weekly prize giveaways, host ranges participating in the #RangeChallenge Summer Series said their customers enjoyed the target games and can’t wait to do it again.

“We know that getting the millions of people who purchased their first firearm this year educated about safety, basic handling skills and safe storage are paramount tasks for our industry. But just as important is showing them that target shooting can provide a lifetime of enjoyment,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Retail & Range Business Development. “Whether they go on to shoot formal competitions or merely discover the joys of honing newly acquired skills, the #RangeChallenge is one way to encourage these new gun owners to take up regular practice time on the range.”

The #RangeChallenge “Aiming for Autumn” Series runs through Dec. 29 at 11:59 p.m. To shoot the target, consumers can locate a host range with the #RangeChallenge targets in their area or download and print the target themselves. It takes just 10 rounds to complete the challenge. To enter a target to win one of the weekly giveaways, all participants need to do is post a picture with their target to Instagram using the #RangeChallenge hashtag.

Ranges interested in becoming #RangeChallenge Aiming for Autumn hosts should contact Zach Snow at zsnow@nssf.org to receive a complementary package of challenge-series targets and promotional materials while supplies last. Those ranges agreeing to host the “Aiming for Autumn” series will also be included on #RangeChallenge Series Host Map on LetsGoShooting.org.

NSSF Recognized for its Leadership in Receiving NASGW’s Highest Award

 October 20, 2020

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers today presented the National Shooting Sports Foundation® with its highest award, the Chairwoman’s Award, in recognition of the extraordinary contributions NSSF® has made to all who work in the shooting sports industry.

NASGW Chair Laurie Lipsey-Aronson made the announcement during a video presentation of the NASGW’s annual Achievement Awards.

“I’m extremely proud to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the NSSF team,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “We’re honored to be recognized by NASGW and Chairwoman Lipsey-Aronson for the work NSSF has done during this challenging year to protect industry jobs and make it possible for our industry to deliver products to Americans from all walks of life and keep our country safe.”

Lipsey-Aronson said the Chairwoman’s Award normally is presented to an individual in the industry but that during this extraordinary year of challenges, ranging from the pandemic to the upcoming election, it was decided to bestow the award on an organization—NSSF—for demonstrating leadership when leadership was needed most.

“This year has been much bigger than one individual,” said Lipsey-Aronson during the video presentation. “It took a team of individuals to help us navigate the unprecedented challenges we face. I think we can all agree [NSSF] has stepped out in front of our industry and led the way. Because of their efforts, we have all benefited and will continue to benefit through their leadership. This year’s 2020 Chairwoman’s Award goes to the entire team at the National Shooting Sports Foundation!”

Lipsey-Aronson cited NSSF’s work in helping to keep firearm industry companies operating as essential businesses during the pandemic as being crucial to success of industry during 2020.

A Guide for Parents: Understanding Youth Mental Health and Preventing Unauthorized Access to Firearms

October 20, 2020

To Book Interviews with Joe Bartozzi, President and CEO, National Shooting Sports Foundation:

Contact Bill Brassard, Senior Communications Director, bbrassard@nssf.com or 203-426-1320 ext 212

To View the Resource and Video, Visit: www.projectchildsafe.org/parents-resources/

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®) today released a new guide, developed in consultation with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), that helps parents recognize signs their children may be struggling with mental health issues and offers advice on how to talk to kids about suicide, make homes safer for those who may be at-risk and help reduce the risk of suicide among America’s teens.

The free resource – “A Guide for Parents: Understanding Youth Mental Health and Preventing Unauthorized Access to Firearms” – can be downloaded at NSSF’s Project ChildSafe® website or AFSP’s Project 2025 website.

“Mental health may seem like a difficult topic to raise with children, but it doesn’t have to be,” said Doreen Marshall, AFSP’s Vice President of Mission Engagement. “Talking openly with our young people about mental health, just as we would physical health, can help protect our kids and give them the support they need, long before a crisis occurs.”

Multiple studies show today’s teens are dealing with higher levels of stress, anxiety, depression and other mental or emotional health concerns than any generation before them. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a new set of challenges for teens, including loss of structure, separation from peers and increased feelings of isolation—adding to the stressors young people are already bearing.

“With these realities, it’s crucial that parents take steps to secure potentially lethal methods of harming oneself or others. That may mean rethinking how and where you store your guns and other possible methods of self-harm,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO.

The new guide covers the health, environmental and historical factors that may lead to kids being more at-risk, as well as warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide, and critical advice on how and when to take action. There are also recommendations on how to secure firearms, prescription drugs, harmful chemicals and other lethal means so they can’t be accessed by a person in distress.

“Keeping guns out of the wrong hands is a firearm owner’s most important priority, and securing a firearm is one of the most important steps parents can take to protect at-risk teens and others in the home,” Bartozzi said. “Our Project ChildSafe website offers several resources on how to determine the best safe storage option for your home and family.”

NSSF and AFSP have developed supplemental resources, including A Tip Sheet For Parents: Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Firearm Safety and Being There for Your Friends: A Guide to Helping Prevent Suicide, for teens who may be concerned about their friends but don’t know what steps to take.

“Suicide is preventable—increasing our knowledge of adolescents’ mental health, combined with secure firearm storage options, is a powerful combination to save lives,” Bartozzi said.

Importantly, anyone experiencing a crisis is urged to reach out to any of the following resources:

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Call 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255)
  • Crisis Text Line: Text TALK to 741741
  • Emergency Response: Call 911 or contact your local emergency room

About Project ChildSafe

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association of the firearms industry, launched Project ChildSafe in 1999 (originally as Project HomeSafe). Since then, the program has provided nearly 40 million free firearm safety kits and gun locks to firearm owners in all 50 states through partnerships with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country. That’s in addition to the more than 70 million free locking devices manufacturers have included, and continue to include, with new firearms sold since 1998. While helping to prevent accidents among children is a focus, Project ChildSafe is intended to help adults practice greater firearm safety in the home. Sneak Preview: Mantis Blackbeard AR-15 Trigger Reset System

One of the great impediments to dry fire carbine training is having to manipulate the charging handle for each and every trigger pull. At the 2020 Shot Show Mantis introduced the Blackbeard; solving the problem while enhancing safety. I’ll be publishing my review this November.

But for now, a word to the wise. If you’ve been a good boy or girl, get Mantis’ Blackbeard on Santa’s list now to make sure you’ll have it for Christmas. It’s a superb training tool and as my ridge runner buddy would say, “it’s funerer than hayel.”

ICYMI: Biden-Harris Wants to Repeal PLCAA

The bipartisan law prevents activist lawyers and politicians from attacking the firearm industry with frivolous lawsuits that are designed to bankrupt manufacturers for the heinous crimes committed by individuals. October 19, 2020

NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF®, the trade association for the firearm industry, is focusing on former Vice President Joe Biden’s radical antigun campaign promise to repeal the industry-essential Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). The bipartisan law prevents activist lawyers and politicians from attacking the firearm industry with frivolous lawsuits that are designed to bankrupt manufacturers for the heinous crimes committed by individuals.
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his running mate U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) have sworn to eliminate the law that was passed with strong bipartisan support in Congress in 2005.
“Joe Biden and Senator Harris have promised to repeal this law for one single reason. They want to unleash a wave of baseless lawsuits filed by agenda-driven antigun groups and plaintiffs to tie up firearm manufacturers in legal proceedings and bankrupt them through court costs, judgments and penalties,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The Biden campaign refuses to blame criminals that commit crimes and instead purposefully misleads the public into believing a responsible industry is at fault in order to achieve their gun control agenda. The Biden-Harris plan would allow harassing lawsuits that would be similar to suing Ford for a death caused by a drunk driver.”
Biden has repeated the false claim that firearm manufacturers cannot be sued. It is the same campaign tactic employed by Hillary Clinton in 2016, which Politifact labeled “false” four years ago. It is still just as false today.
The PLCAA does not totally exempt firearm manufacturers from all liability. Just like other industries, including auto makers, pharmaceutical companies and others, firearm manufacturers can be held liable for defective products, breach of warranty, criminal misconduct and other behaviors for which they are directly responsible. This is no different from a car company being held liable for defective air bags, but not when a drunk driver kills a pedestrian. Biden knows this but still continues to make his deceptive claims.
Biden’s plan to roll back PLCAA is in keeping with his admonition during the Democratic primary when he said, “Our enemy is the gun manufacturers.” Biden attacks the industry that produces firearms for the U.S. military, federal, state and local police agencies. It’s the same industry that more than 15.4 million people turned to in order to obtain firearms this year to protect themselves and their family. Nearly 6.2 million have done so for the first time in 2020. Under a Biden administration, the industry that provides the means for tens of millions of law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves and their loved ones would be at risk.

EXTREMA RATIO: SETHLANS

Image

EXTREMA RATIO SETHLANS” is a fixed blade work knife born to face a wide range of situations, suitable for survival, bushcraft, prepping, but also as a backup blade.

SETHLANS was designed in collaboration with Daniele Dal Canto, Master Advanced F.I.S.S.S. instructor (Italian Federation of Sports and Experimental Survival).

SETHLANS is available in two different versions with two different kinds of steel.

The stone washed version is produced with Böhler N690 heat treated at 58 HRC, chosen for the reliability it has demonstrated over the last 20 years due to its resistance to oxidation and durability of the edge.

The black version is produced in D2 steel, heat and cryogenically treated at 60 HRC, which presents an high resharpening capacity even with makeshift tools. In order to give greater qualities of hardness and resistance, the blade is coated with the new Teflon-based product “EXP DARK”, proposed by Extrema Ratio.

The knife comes with G10 grips that feature the ergonomic design characteristic of Extrema Ratio handles. They can be removed by releasing the skeletonized structure of the knife, that allows maximum lightness with minimum thickness. For lovers of extreme customization, the full-tang structure allows the handle to be covered with a paracord cord.

The sheath is composed of a part in very light and minimalist Kydex. It can be disassembled and can be adapted for both left and right handed users. The addition of an optional belt clip allows the knife to be positioned both vertically and horizontally and makes the sheath much more versatile than the textile version. It is also equipped with a mini pouch with M.O.L.L.E. system. containing a two-sided stone for sharpening and a firesteel for lighting fires.

The retail price of both Sethlans versions is € 395,00.

Winchester, the Official Ammunition of the SCTP International Team

As the official ammunition of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and the SCTP International Team, Winchester is promoting the SCTP mission.

EAST ALTON, Ill. (October 16, 2020) — Winchester Ammunition is the champion in supporting the youth shooting sports. As the official ammunition of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and the SCTP International Team, Winchester is helping promote the SCTP mission and provide access to competitive shooting sports to thousands of young men and women around the country each year.
The new 2020-2021 SCTP International Team was decided this summer at the 2020 National Championship event and is listed below. These elite competitors distinguished themselves from their peers in the extremely challenging international events where targets are harder, faster and travel farther than those within American Trap and Skeet. Winchester congratulates the new International Team members and all those who participated in the competition.

  • Bunker Trap women:
      Aiko Coloso – Florida
      Taylor Dale – Wisconsin
      Sydney Krieger – Arizona
      Loretta Christian – Arizona
    Bunker Trap men:
      Logan Samson – Alaska
      Tristan Schroder – Michigan
      Matthew Killeen – Arizona
  • International Skeet women:
      Erin Lokke – Minnesota
      Sarah Schwacher – Wisconsin
      Phoebe Smith – Tennessee
      Madeline Corbin – Wisconsin
    International Skeet men:
      Zachary Maggard – Tennessee
      Josh Corbin – Wisconsin
      Preston Bailey – Missouri
      Jordan Sapp – Arizona

The SCTP will host the 2020 Bunker 300 October 16-18, an open International Trap competition at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio. The 2020-2021 SCTP International Team members will be on-site competing in the event against any SCTP challengers that care to test their mettle.
Participants use a AA® load specifically developed by Winchester for International Shooting Sport Federation rules that contains a lightweight 24-gram shot load that travels at 1325 fps. While most target loads contain 1 or 1-1/8 oz of shot, the lighter 24-gram load is intended to make international competition even more challenging while the high velocity is needed to connect on these fast-flying targets. Winchester SKUs for these items are as follows – Trap: AANL127 and Skeet: AANL129.
Winchester will be sharing some pictures and updates from the event on Facebook (
@WinchesterOfficial), Instagram (@winchesterammunition) and Twitter (@winchester).

Fort Worth, TX (October 15, 2020) – XS® Sights is proud to announce that Michelle Waldran and Jen Blake have been named XS Ambassadors.  As ambassadors, they will support the company’s social media efforts and help bring awareness to women about the importance of learning firearms safety and training for self-defense.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Michelle Waldran now lives in Oklahoma and was first introduced to handguns at age 14 when visiting her uncle on summer break.  She is now a certified NRA pistol instructor, Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) handgun instructor, and Oklahoma Self-Defense Act instructor.  Waldran is also a member of Team Walther Arms.

“The more I learned over the years attending advanced concealment courses, the more aware I became that a minor detail such as sights can influence the outcome of a critical encounter,” said Waldran.  “After a lot of research, I ordered XS F8 Night Sights.  These made a world of difference in my target acquisition throughout various defensive shooting drills. Especially the one hand reload drill. The rear sight posts are rock solid and can be used to rack the slide one handed on any surface. Their tag line – The Fastest Sights in Any Light – is true. They are incredibly fast and much easier to see in day and night than standard sights. I’m proud to be an ambassador and help spread the word about the advantages XS Sights provide when it comes to self-defense.”Michelle Waldran - XS Ambassador

An avid participant in 3-Gun competitions, Jen Blake is a concealed carry instructor and appointed NRA Counselor who teaches and certifies students to become NRA Instructors in southern Ohio. She has traveled the country training women to use firearms safely and enjoys helping grow women participation in gun ownership whether for protection, hunting, or shooting sports.  Blake is the mother of two boys and understands the need to be responsibly armed.

“The most rewarding part of my job is helping families feel proficient with their shooting skills and giving them the confidence to feel safe knowing they can defend themselves,” said Blake.  “I am extremely excited to be an ambassador for XS Sights. They’re #1 in quick sight acquisition which is extremely important, especially in moments where every second counts.  I’ve also found while teaching, the unique design of XS Sights has been a very easy sight picture for new shooters to comprehend over other types of sights.”

Zack Kinsley, Marketing Manager for XS Sights, said, “We are delighted to have Michelle and Jen as XS Ambassadors and know their efforts will help us bring awareness to even more women about the importance of learning firearms safety and training for self-defense. These ladies embody the core behind our business. If your fundamentals are bad, great night sights or any sights for that matter won’t correct the problem. We will lean on them to drive home the drills and training for so many women, as they already do, and also help those shooters discover the XS brand benefits. These ladies are down to earth. You know where they stand, and we relate to and appreciate those qualities here at XS Sights.”

Viasat, AeroVironment Team to Develop Enhanced Type 1 Encrypted Communications Capabilities for U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems

CARLSBAD, Calif. and SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 15, 2020Viasat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), a global communications company, and AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV), a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), today announced they will collaborate on a contract awarded under the U.S. Army Reconfigurable Communications for Small Unmanned Systems (RCSUS) initiative. The project will provide U.S. military customers flying small UAS platforms the ability to deploy a robust, on-demand, highly-secure communications network that will address the growing electronic warfare capabilities of peer and near-peer adversaries.

Viasat is the prime contractor on the award and will work with AeroVironment to develop and demonstrate advanced, encrypted communications suitable for AeroVironment’s portable, hand-launched Puma AE™ tactical UAS. The two companies will seek to strengthen the communications and transmission security of AeroVironment’s Digital Data Link™ (DDL) radios currently used by the U.S. Army by converting them into a Type 1 crypto communication system for video and data transmission.

In addition, Viasat and AeroVironment will develop critical interoperability standards for enabling UAS to generate a secure, digitally encrypted communications network—for protecting classified data and improving waveform performance in jamming environments—via the embedded DDL waveform. They will also create a standardized communications architecture that will allow UAS to access spectrum quickly and easily, especially when operating in contested environments.

“Viasat’s robust military-grade cryptography and electronic countermeasure tactical waveform design will enable quick expansion of secure communications to a variety of small unmanned systems operating at the tactical edge,” said Ken Peterman, president, Government Systems, Viasat. “By collaborating with AeroVironment, an established leader in the tactical UAS sector, we can help the U.S. Army set new waveform standards that maximize connectivity and minimize the risk of signal intercept.”

Currently, tens of thousands of AeroVironment tactical unmanned aircraft are deployed around the world and are capable of serving as secure, digital network communication nodes for on-demand, mesh network applications in various operating environments.

“As U.S. forces plan for the potential of operating against peer and near-peer military adversaries possessing advanced electronic warfare capabilities, the need for even more secure communication capabilities is rapidly increasing,” said Scott Newbern, AeroVironment chief technology officer. “We will work with Viasat to provide customers requiring enhanced, secure communication capabilities with a portable, practical solution for maintaining secret-level communications via tactical unmanned aircraft systems operating at the battlefield’s edge.”

Diamond Age NeoSteel™ Tactical Helmet Accessories Now Available

The world’s toughest combat helmet just got even better with the addition of new accessories, and more to come.

McKinney, Texas (October 2020) – Texas-based, materials science and ballistics specialists, Diamond Age, unveiled the next generation steel NeoSteel™ Helmet in August, and now offer the first two helmet accessories, designed specifically for the NeoSteel Helmet.

The NeoSteel Helmet is a modular combat helmet produced using the most technologically advanced metal alloys resulting in a helmet that meets and exceeds VPAM-3 + Special Threats ballistic requirements. The design is based on the combat-proven M1 steel-pot helmet and is the evolutionary descendant featuring all-day comfort, balance, protection, and unlike the current K-pot polymer produced helmets today, will not degrade over time and weaken its protective capabilities.

The first two NeoSteel Helmet accessories available are the Combat Circlet and the Face Protector. The Combat Circlet is the ideal mounting platform for night vision gear (NVGs) and other head-worn accessories. Made from durable, glass-filled polymer and using the most advanced additive manufacturing techniques it is securely mounted to the NeoSteel Helmet by four retention-system holes on the helmet. The NVG bracket requires no additional drilling of holes into the front of the helmet and provides bungee cord ports for stabilization and retention. The M-LOK side rails accept accessories directly and can also be used as a platform for Picatinny adapters. The Combat Circlet’s vertical crest allows for additional stability and more accessory-mounting real estate. Future modules in development for the crest include applique blast protection and an applique ghillie module. The rear of the Combat Circlet features a tie-down bar for additional stability without using a counterweight. The Combat Circlet also allows for direct integration with the NeoSteel Helmet Face Protector.

The NeoSteel Ventail face protector offers the wearer an enhanced protection platform from ballistic threats. It covers the face, side of the head, and a portion of the anterior neck. It mounts easily and quickly to the helmet using the four retention system holes on the shell and protects from blunt impact, blast overpressure, and debris. The Ventail is also fully compatible with most ballistic glasses and offers an unconstrained field-of-view while being lighter in weight and tougher than traditional transparent ballistic visors.

“Unlike the composite helmets on the market today, the NeoSteel Helmet will serve the warfighter or LEO for years to come. Advances in steel technologies now enable a helmet that performs better than Kevlar or polyethylene composite helmets in many respects,” Diamond Age CEO, Jake Ganor, commented. “And a big plus for the wearer is that the helmet shell is largely incapable of deformation, so there’s a greatly reduced risk of behind helmet head trauma.”

For agencies concerned with “behind armor trauma,” in which the LEO or warfighter suffers from neck injuries due to the head acceleration from a ballistic hit, the NeoSteel Helmet spreads the kinetic energy load across the entire padding system protecting from any blunt impact injuries. Only the NeoSteel Helmet gives the wearer edge-to-edge protection with over 110 square inches of solid protection.

Diamond Age NeoSteel Helmet is now available in Black, Green, or Tan and in Medium or Large/Extra-Large for an MSRP starting at $195.00. The Combat Circlet is an additional $125.00 and the Ventail face protector is $187. Please allow anywhere from seven to fifteen weeks for helmets with accessories to ship.
