Lake Charles, LA – (November 18, 2020) – For the fifth consecutive year, Legally Armed America will live-stream SHOT Show-themed video content to their audience of one million-plus fans. From Monday, January 18 through Friday, January 22, 2021, the ‘1791 Summit’ will showcase new-for-2021 products and brands while delivering an inside look at the shooting industry to gun enthusiasts.

According to Paul Glasco, President of Legally Armed America and host of the 1791 Summit, “Even though SHOT Show 2021 was canceled because of COVID, we still want our partners in the shooting industry to be able to promote their brands and innovations like they normally would. The 1791 Summit offers a digital video alternative to the in-person experience our fans are used to seeing from us during SHOT Show. RANGE DAY

Following the same calendar as SHOT Show, beginning on Monday, January 18, the 1791 Summit will live-stream “Range Day” content straight from their gun range in Lake Charles, LA. “While our audience watches, we’ll demonstrate the newest products and advancements with the live-fire excitement they’re used to. During each 15 to 20-minute segment, the folks at home can ask questions in real-time – providing engaging feedback for our industry partners,” Glasco said.

VIRTUAL BOOTH 

Beginning on Tuesday, January 19 through Friday, January 22, the 1791 Summit will live-stream virtual booth segments from sponsor companies. “These segments are completely up to our partners,” said Glasco. “Companies can take the audience through their actual booth or simply live-stream from their office. They could set up new products in their conference room and talk about them, or they could take the audience behind the scenes of their headquarters to talk with gunsmiths, engineers, or shooters. We can also follow the format we’ve used at SHOT Show where I ask questions and they discuss the products,” he said.

Another option for companies who wish to participate in the 1791 Summit includes 8 short-form segments where Paul Glasco presents a product and discusses what makes it compelling and noteworthy. “These Product Spot segments will be scattered throughout each day of the Rage Day, and Virtual Booth Experience,” said Glasco.

After years of steady growth, the company refuses to be influenced by political correctness.

SR is also reworking the consumer-facing side of their business to decrease turnaround time for orders. By the beginning of next year, 95 percent of orders will ship within 24 hours.

But even with all those changes, Carter says the spirit behind Shield Republic isn’t changing.

“We are staying tried and true to what we believe in,” Carter says. “We’re not jumping on the Politically Correct bandwagon or getting involved with cancel culture. We’re going to stay in the space where we are and give a voice to people like us, Republicans, gun-toting Americans.”

More isn’t always better. In fact, there’s often a point of diminishing returns. From my naive viewpoint, I’ve always kind of looked at the 10mm round that way. It was just too much of a good thing. Too long, too loud, too powerful, too much recoil. I mean, any cartridge that the FBI drops because it’s too hard to shoot probably isn’t my cup of tea.

    Savage Introduces Newest Backcountry Xtreme Rifle: The 110 Timberline

    The 110 Timberline’s stock is finished in RealTree Excape, a pattern well suited for high elevation hunts along the edge of the evergreens. The barrel, receiver and other critical parts are protected against corrosion and harsh terrain by an olive drab Cerakote finish.

    Like the other rifles in the Backcountry Xtreme series, the 110 Timberline comes with Savage’s AccuFit™ technology. This allows for easy adjustments to length-of-pull and comb height. The 110 Timberline’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger™ can be dialed in as low as 1.5-pounds, or as high as 4 pounds. The factory blueprinted Savage 110 action is bedded along its entire length with Savage’s innovative AccuStock™ system.

    The 110 Timberline will debut in 11 different short and long action chamberings, and the guns will be built in both right-hand and left-hand configurations. The 110 Timberline will be available at your local dealer by the end of December 2020.

    NSSF Releases Most Recent Firearm Production Figures

    Nearly 20 million Modern Sporting Rifles in Circulation

    NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF®, the firearm industry’s trade association, released the 2020 edition of its Firearm Production Report to members. The report compiles the most up to date information based on data sourced from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF’s) Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Export Reports (AFMER) as well as the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Key findings for public release showed:

    • In 2018, 11.4 million total firearms were produced or imported in the United States (less exported firearms).
    • Approximately one-half (48%) of all rifles produced and imported (less exports) in 2018 were Modern Sporting Rifles.
    • Since 1990, there are an estimated 19.8 million Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) in circulation today.
    • An interim 2019 estimate showed a total of 6 million total firearms were produced in the United States. Of those, 3.6 million were pistols and revolvers, 2 million were rifles and 480,000 were shotguns. Those are interim figures that will be updated when complete reports become available from the ATF.
    • In 2019, there were approximately 3.3 million firearms imported into the United States which included 2.3 million pistols and revolvers, 301,000 rifles and 678,000 shotguns.
    • From 1991 to 2019, nearly 214 million firearms have been made available to the U.S. market.
    • According to reports such as: ATF Firearms Commerce in the United States, ATF AFMER and Congressional Research Service data, there are an estimated 434 million firearms in civilian possession in the United States.
    • There are approximately 71.2 million pistol magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds, and 79.2 million rifle magazines capable of holding 30 or more rounds in circulation.
    • Firearm and ammunition manufacturing accounted for nearly 12,000 employees producing over $3.9 billion in goods shipped in 2018. An estimated 8.7 billion rounds of all calibers and gauges were produced in 2018 for the U.S. market.

    “These figures, combined with the record-breaking 17.2 million NSSF-adjusted background checks for the sale or transfer of a firearm in the first ten months of 2020, demonstrates that Americans have a strong desire to continue purchasing firearms for lawful purposes,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President and CEO. “The Modern Sporting Rifle continues to be the most popular rifle sold in America today, and with nearly 20 million in circulation, is clearly a commonly-owned firearm that is being used for lawful purposes every day in America. The continued popularity of handguns demonstrates a strong interest by Americans to protect themselves, their family and homes, as well as to participate in the recreational shooting sports.”

    Today’s report also shows that as lawful firearm ownership in America continues to grow, criminal and unintentional misuse of firearms is falling. During the 28-year period covered by this report (1991–2018) the violent crime rate has decreased by 51.3 percent and unintentional firearm-related fatalities have declined by 68.2 percent.

    Drones are in vogue and this Christmas shopping season is no different. One of the top sellers for 2020 is projected to be DJI Mavic Mini and Mavic Mini 2. The performance of these tiny drones is just short of astonishing. Video and picture quality are excellent. The Mavic Mini 2 offers 4k video capability and a number of flight control enhancements. Part of their popularity is their size and meager 249 gram takeoff weight. FAA 14CFR Part 107 establishes a registration requirement for drones in the range of 0.55lbs to 55lbs. Weight as defined by the FAA under Part 107 includes any payload. The Mavic Mini’s takeoff weight comes in 0.548951 lbs. (249g) so technically you are under 0.55 lbs. But, lets take a closer look.

    This Mavic Mini’s take off weight is 8.66 oz. or 0.54125 lbs.; it’s equipped with a battery and microSD card. It’s clearly under the 0.55 lbs. lower limit but watch what happens when you add propeller guards.

    It now weighs 10.35 oz. which translates to 0.646875 lbs. You are now well within the .55lb to 55lbs range and must register your drome with the FAA. As you weigh you course of action, keep in mind that when adding any accessory to the Mavic Mini you’re likely to cross the 0.55 lb. lower limit. Some of those accessories include camera lens filters and there’s more to come. In closing, my recommendation is that you register your Mavic Mini so you can enjoy its considerable features.

    Galco’s extremely versatile WheelGunner™ and Ironhide™ belt holsters offer ambidextrous design as well as quick on-off capability. Suitable for casual concealment and outdoor sportsman’s carry, they both carry a large handgun high and close to the body.
    The WheelGunner secures a large revolver with a combination of hand molding and an adjustable hammer thong. Simply slip the hammer thong off and the gun is cleared for a fast, smooth draw.
    The Ironhide secures a semiautomatic pistol with a combination of hand molding and a reversible retention strap with a glove-friendly polymer tab. Release the strap and the pistol is cleared for a fast, smooth draw. The retention strap accommodates both hammer-down and cocked-and-locked carry on 1911-type pistols.
    Both designs allow right or left hand carry by unsnapping the holster from the belt slide, moving the belt slide to the opposite side of the body, reversing the retention strap (on the Ironhide), and reattaching the holster. Leaving the belt slide attached to the belt, the holster body can also be quickly detached, should the carrier need to enter a “non-permissive environment” and temporarily store the holstered handgun.

    Elite Tactical Riflescope and Ammo on the Money for Shooting Pro

    OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – November 12, 2020 – Bushnell® and RCBS® congratulate Robert Brantley on his runner-up finish at the prestigious AG Cup held October 30 – November 1. Competing against many of the best precision rifle shooters in the world, Brantley utilized products from Bushnell and RCBS to help him claim 2nd place and take home $10,000.

    An invitation-only Precision Rifle Series (PRS) event, the AG Cup placed 50 of the best long-range competitors in a 3-day event with over $90,000 in prize money up for grabs. In this head-to-head style competition, competitors had to place at the top of the field each day in order to make it to the final cut of only 12 competitors. After finishing in 21st place after day one, Brantley slowly ascended the ranks on the second day of competition securing his spot in the finale.

    “Making it to the AG Cup was a goal I had set at the beginning of the year as soon as I had heard about the series,” said Brantley. “Driving across the country to the regional qualifying matches was the easy part as I knew I had the gear to get ready and the confidence knowing it would be true once I got there. Throughout my run, the RCBS equipment made accurate reloading quick and easy plus I knew my Bushnell Elite Tactical scope would always be on point.”

    Robert continued, “After making all the cuts and entering into the third day of the match, I knew it was up to me to make it happen. I had tons of confidence thanks to the support of my team and sponsors, so it was an incredible feeling to be able to finish the match in 2nd place.”

    Using his Bushnell Elite Tactical XRS II 4.5-30×50 and numerous reloading products from RCBS, Brantley has finished at the top of his class in numerous matches throughout the 2020 season. His consistent performance has secured him a spot in the PRS Series Finale taking place December 12-13 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.

    Armageddon Gear teamed with the PRS to create the AG Cup Series, which consisted of eight designated qualifier matches. Scores taken from the AG Cup Series were used to determine who would be invited to the final match, the AG Cup. The AG Cup was hosted by the Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia.

    According to WOMA President, Lenee Landis, “We chose Mia to receive the initial WOMA Founder’s Award because of her lifetime commitment to volunteerism and her passion for educating women and juniors to participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities.     Anstine has volunteered as an instructor at the WOMA’s annual She Never Quit charity event for 5 years, “We also want to recognize that she’s involved as a volunteer for other organizations on local, state and national levels” said Landis. “Mia embodies the generous and passionate spirit required to guide women with a desire to learn more about the outdoors on a journey of self-discovery and success.     Shotgun upgrades more relevant than ever!

    Turn a Sporting Shotgun into a Home Defense Platform
    It’s no secret that shotguns have been flying off the rack, purchased by new and experienced shooters alike. 
    Many of these buyers will be interested to learn how easy it is to turn a sporting-oriented shotgun into a home defense platform.  Choate Machine and Tool has     easy-to-install accessories and components to make this happen.

    More (Capacity) Is Better
    Unless you’re drowning or on fire, no one wants less ammunition capacity.  Choate is the industry leader in magazine tube extensions.  Extensions are available for Benelli, Browning, CZ, Fabarm, Franchi, H&R 1871, Mossberg, Remington, Smith & Wesson, Steven, Stoeger, Weatherby and Winchester!

    Light It Up
    Choate Machine and Tool manufactures a variety of light and accessory mounting options for shotguns, including the Night Manager.  The Night Manager is a magazine tube extension with an aluminum shroud that is drilled and tapped along the bottom and sides for mounting Picatinny rail sections.  Its unique design allows the shroud to orient the attached Picatinny rails where needed and then uses an AR-15 castle nut to lock it in the desired location.  Mounting accessories on the magazine tube extension allows use of the full length of the shotgun’s forend, which often can be short on law enforcement models.  Currently the Night Manager is available for the Remington 870, 1100, 11-87 and also for the H&R Pardner pumps and Hawk 982.  For Mossberg shotguns the Night Manager is available for the 500 (no extra shell capacity) 590, 835, 5500 and the 9200 shotguns.

    Stock Options
    Whether you want to upgrade from wood to the durability of polymer, or are looking for a different configuration entirely, Choate Machine and Tool has stocks to meet every need including folding stocks, less-lethal designated orange stocks, stocks that carry extra ammunition and others.  Adding a folding or telescoping stock can be a fantastic upgrade for any home defense shotgun, making it easier to store or easier to adjust for clothing, body armor or the stature of the shooter.
