NSSF Awards Five-Star Rating to CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park

NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF ,^® the firearm industry trade association, is pleased to announce that it has awarded a Five-Star rating to CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. This is the first outdoor range to be awarded a Five-Star Rating under NSSF’s revised star rating system for outdoor ranges.

Known as “The Home of Marksmanship” and owned and operated by the Civilian Marksmanship Program, this expansive facility sprawls across 500 acres in Talladega, Alabama. The facility is open to the public and requires no membership, making this range a tremendous draw for both the immediate community and thousands of yearly visitors from outside the state.

CMP Talladega has, literally, something for every shooting sports enthusiast, from airguns to long-range rifle, 3-Gun to clay-target sports. A 600-yard rifle range has target banks available at 200, 300 and 600 yards, with 54 covered shooting points that accommodate both casual target practice and formal matches attended by hundreds of competitors. A separate 100-yard range serves for multiple rifle shooting activities, while pistol shooters enjoy dedicated 25- and 50-yard handgun ranges and any of the facility’s 15 action-shooting bays. All static-target ranges feature the all-weather, electronically scored Kongsberg Target System. Shotgunners have their choice of a trap, skeet, five-stand field and a 15-station sporting clays course.

Truly a range that is meant for continuous all-day use by families and friends, CMP Talladega’s centerpiece is its 13,000-square-foot clubhouse. An immaculate reception and check-in area there is flanked by numerous multimedia classrooms, lounge areas, and the range’s highly regarded pro shop where visitors can purchase the highly sought after M1 Garand, ammunition and gear for use on the range or in one of the many instructional classes and clinics offered. Close-circuit TVs are available throughout so that visitors can watch the action while taking a break from any of the dozens of formal matches and tournaments that take place at CMP Talladega every month.

Range owners and operators interested in achieving an NSSF star rating must first apply to the program and complete the comprehensive self-assessment. Completed applications, along with photos and supporting documents, are then submitted to NSSF, and if the facility appears to qualify for the top Five-Star rating, that range will then receive an onsite visit from NSSF staff. Our Environment Could be Contributing to Small Packages

Hopefully, you’ve all had a great week, but seriously folks between the ammo shortage, 24 x 7 coverage of the “BORDER CRISES” and COVID I’m ready for a good shoot the shit. I’ve come to the conclusion that many of the mental disorders and stressors afflicting people today are the product of a news media that does not report anything that’s positive. Case in point…

We had two short-circuited squirrels that decided to go on a shooting rampage in Atlanta, GA and Boulder, CO. Personally the Atlanta shootings may have been due to a size comment made by the Atlanta masseuse during a happy ending. Who the hell knows, but, predictably, Democrats failed to attribute the events to a couple of genetic defects; choosing to blame the firearms because it plays well with the media. Ladies and gentlemen, I have yet to have a firearm suggest that I go out and shoot someone. We literally have elected officials saying to their constituents that the AR15 is a weapon of war like what he was given in Afghanistan. The guy is either completely inept or a liar, I think the later is the more accurate assessment.

It’s enough to drive you to therapy; however, this means seeing a psychologist otherwise know as a jackass who majored in Psych so they could understand themselves. So what’s the alternative? Have a good shoot the shit! What’s a shoot the shit say you?

A shoot the shit is a social interaction during which any topic can be discussed. Participants don’t need to know anything about the topic being discussed, they are free to make unsupported comments, use uncensured profanity, insult anyone the wish or change the subject altogether. The efficacy of a good shoot the shit is far better than a therapist and will save you $150+ per hour.

So let’s get started.

Modular Driven Technologies a.k.a. MDT is a Canadian Company , located in British Columbia. A number of years ago, the Company introduced the TAC21 chassis for precision rifles and shooters. The design was revolutionary but more importantly they were able to do it at a very competitive price. They’ve come a long way since then producing an array of modular enhancements, magazines and other accessories to enhance the precision rifle. On April 1st, 2021, someone suffered a mental lapse and decided to introduce the MDT MLOK Hat. It had to be the result of a Canadian COVID variant or maple syrup overdose. However, you can be assured that someone will buy the hat.

On a more serious note…

Euronews published an article “PENISES ARE SHRINKING BECAUSE OF POLLUTION, WARNS ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST” revealing the work of Dr Shanna Swan’s who in her book “Count Down” argues that our modern world is altering humans’ reproductive development and threatening the future of our species. Her book outlines how pollution is leading to higher rates of erectile dysfunction, fertility decline, and growing numbers of babies born with small penises. According to Dr Swan’s research, this disruption in genital development is caused by phthalates, chemicals used in plastic manufacturing, which can impact how the hormone endocrine is produced. Dr. Swan has written a number of papers on what she believes is a decline in the female sex drive, which is understandable given the reduction in male size. It also explains the documented increase in demand for large adult toys.

In the India Today article “Human penises shrinking due to pollution: Scientist” they report that a scientist, Dr, Shana Swan, has claimed that human penises are shrinking and a number of babies are being born with smaller penises due to pollution. Most of the research appears to be driven by a baby’s penis size. No discussion on methodology is made in these articles but there are very specific ways of measuring penis sizes.

The casual suggestion in all this is that climate change, which some in the scientific community believe is driven by the pollution of our air and oceans will result in a reduction of male genital size. So, being inundated by rising ocean waters is not the only threat you could experience.

There is an Old Wives’ Tale about Chinese men having much smaller penises. It may not be an Old Wives’ Tale after all; given the pollution the Chinese are generating.

With Easter Sunday just around the corner we find ourselves thinking about what happens when we die. The internet helps us answer that nagging question. In cyber space, you’ll find a number of sights that can help you determine if you’re going to Heaven, they’ll introduce you to people that have been to Heaven, or suggest what you need to say to get there. One such site is Heaven or Not.

We’re living in very difficult times but the end is at hand so keep those sweat pumps in low speed. Schedule a shoot the shit with your buds and family it works wonders especially when supported by a good BBQ.

ANOKA, Minnesota – March 30, 2021 – Team Federal congratulates Tank Lunsford and Aaron Willoughby for their impressive performances this past weekend. The two shooters achieved several top finishes at the 2021 Florida State Shoot, held March 23-28 at Silver Dollar Shooters Club in Odessa, Florida. The Silver Dollar is the Southeast’s Premier Trap Shooting Club and is recognized as one of the elite shooting clubs in the nation.
“Team Federal continues to dominate Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays in 2021. Tank and Aaron did great,” said Mike Hampton Sr., Team Federal’s Manager for Shotgun Sports. “Federal congratulates these shooters for jobs well done.”
At the Florida State Shoot, Lunsford won Championship honors for High Overall, High All Around, and was the winner of the Doubles Championship (Non-Resident). He was also the Sub Vet Champ in Prelim Singles, Prelim Doubles, Class Singles and Sunshine State Handicap. Willoughby won Runner Up honors in both the Prelim Handicap and the Handicap Championship (Non-Resident).
Tank and Aaron were pictured at the event with Debbie Ohye Nielsen, a Trap Shooting Hall of Fame Member and the first woman to complete the ATA Grand Slam.
The 2021 Southern Grand American event was held the week earlier, March 15-21, and was also hosted at the Silver Dollar Shooters Club. At that shoot, Lunsford won Runner Up Prelim Handicap – Sub Vet. Willoughby was the AAA Class Champion of the Singles Championship. Ohye won Singles, Doubles, High All Around and the High Over All for the Ladies Division at the event.

Project ChildSafe is a program of the National Shooting Sports Foundation actively promoting firearms safety and education in all 50 states and U.S. territories. The program is dedicated to promoting responsible firearm handling and storage through the distribution of safety education messages and free firearm safety kits.

The SHOT Show New Product Premiere served as a virtual destination for consumers seeking comprehensive, detailed and up-to-date information on products normally introduced during the NSSF’s annual trade show. The SHOT Show New Product Premiere was a multimedia, first-of-its-kind review on the latest new products and technology in the hunting/shooting space and was showcased for the first time on network television. Consumers were able to tune into Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel each night for new product reviews traditionally limited to searching industry websites and social media outlets for product reviews.

NSSF Condemns City of Gary, Ind., Scapegoating of Public Safety; Calls Upon Indiana to End Legal Abuse

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The National Shooting Sports Foundation^®, the firearm industry trade association, strongly criticized the City of Gary, Ind., effort to revive its lawsuit against firearm manufacturers that seeks to hold members of the firearm industry legally responsible for the harm caused to the city by the actions of criminals who misuse firearms.

“The decision by elected officials in the City of Gary to try to breathe life back into this junk lawsuit after failing for two decades to litigate its case is unfathomable,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF^® Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The city has ignored the basic tenets of enforcing law and holding criminals accountable for their misdeeds. Instead, they’ve chosen to squander citizen tax dollars to pursue baseless claims that have been repeatedly thrown out of court in similar cases when municipalities attempted lawsuit abuse tactics. The firearm industry has been proactive and responsible in preventing the criminal and negligent misuse of firearms. The same cannot be said of the City of Gary.”

The City of Gary, Ind., first filed their claims in 1999, after 40 big city mayors conspired through the U.S. Conference of Mayors with gun control activist lawyers for claims of public nuisance and other crime-related injuries. New York’s Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, then serving as President Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, organized dozens of local housing authorities to bring lawsuits against gunmakers and threatened the industry with “death by a thousand cuts.”

Cases were dismissed, including those brought by the cities of New Orleans, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston.

The claims brought by the City of Gary have been dismissed three times, only to be revived. The State of Indiana, in 2001, passed a statute to stop such frivolous lawsuits. From 2009-2015, the City did nothing to pursue its claims in court. In 2015, Indiana extended its law to apply retroactively to Aug. 26, 1999, days before the City of Gary filed its claims.

“On behalf of the entire firearm industry, NSSF calls upon the State of Indiana to immediately take the lawful steps necessary to end this lawsuit abuse by the City of Gary,” said Keane. The future of the Second Amendment is at stake in the Hoosier State.

Procedural twists allowed the cases to be revived. NSSF denies that firearm manufacturers bear responsibility for the illegal actions committed by criminals through the unlawful use of a lawfully manufactured, lawfully sold product that is regulated by a verification through the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The firearm industry has long-standing partnerships with federal, state and local law enforcement to realize Real Solutions^® for Safer Communities.

source Flight Control Systems (FCS) domain of the Army’s multi-year small UAS contract on February 25, 2021. The value of the contract option is $20,979,905 and includes avionics and data link upgrade packages to modify radio frequencies employed by the Army’s existing fleet of Raven^® tactical UAS. The period of Performance ends June 30, 2022.

The contract option was exercised under the Army’s FCS domain awarded to AeroVironment in June 2019 with an initial base delivery order of $862,488. FCS is the first of six domains comprising the Army’s existing five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) SUAS contract and has a potential value of up to $55 million. The Army’s first option under the existing contract – valued at $21,058,643 – was exercised in April 2020, bringing the total value to date to $42,901,035.

Miramar, Fla. (March 2021) – Tasmanian Tiger®, a tactical nylon line of products distributed exclusively for the US market by Proforce Equipment, Inc., increases its offerings in the TACVEC series. The TACVEC series of products are designed for use in police and SWAT vehicles providing instant accessibility, customization, modularity, and scalability of medical, tactical gear and tools.

The first new item for 2021 in the TACVEC series is the TT TACVEC Container for storage and emergency gear. The bag is divided into three parts with hook-and-loop color-marked and writeable strips for product identification. Just because ammo is scare doesn’t mean you have to stop training. Even though extended mags are pretty rare at the range these days, here’s how you

can train when ammo is low.

Even pro’s use dry fire to practice because it’s a great way to build your muscle memory and perfect your trigger pull. If you are worried about damaging your gun, consider getting snap caps or other dummy rounds.

Low round count drills build your fundamentals and keep you ready without blowing through whole clips at a time. Popular drills include “one-reload-one” or “draw-load-one-reload-one” Tailor your drills to the skills you need the most practice with.

Consider a tool to help train. Some people use life-like air-soft guns to practice firearm manipulation, but you can also use the MantisX. This tool analyzes your movements as you fire to give real-time coaching.

NSSF Denounces 9th Circuit Ruling Ignoring Plain Second Amendment Language

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The National Shooting Sports Foundation^®, the firearm industry trade association, rejects the legal gymnastics the 7-4 en banc panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit employed to rule the Second Amendment does not guarantee the right to bear arms outside the home. The court’s ruling on Young v Hawaii ignores the clear and simple language of the Second Amendment and U.S. Supreme Court precedent of the landmark 2008 Heller decision and 2010 McDonald decision, which displayed the exact opposite findings.

The Ninth Circuit’s ruling underscores the need for the U.S. Supreme Court to accept firearm-related cases for review to settle the long-standing disputes. Lower courts are repeatedly failing to apply Supreme Court precedents and are, in fact, treating the Second Amendment as a second-class right, as alleged by Justice Clarence Thomas.

“The blatant defiance of the Supreme Court to undermine Heller and hollow out rights afforded to individuals by their Creator and clearly protected by the Constitution is unconscionable,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “It is with amazing boldness that the Ninth Circuit brazenly sets aside not just the previous findings of the Supreme Court, which legally they are bound to apply, but actively chooses to ignore plain English and refuses to acknowledge the right to bear arms. We look forward to filing an amicus brief when this heads to the Supreme Court.”

Four sitting U.S. Supreme Court justices have previously expressed frustration with lower courts’ refusal to faithfully apply judicial precedent and frustration with the Supreme Court’s refusal to take up gun-related cases for review. Just last year, 10 cases were pending before the court and all were denied certiorari, or review. Since, Justice Amy Coney Barrett has been seated on the bench and was a stalwart defender of Second Amendment rights during her confirmation hearings in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Justice Barrett testified that Heller affirmed an individual right to keep and bear arms and if state laws were passed to the contrary, the U.S. Supreme Court would be bound to review challenges to those laws.

The Expo’s educational tracks will benefit both established firearm range and retail operators as well entrepreneurs focused on launching a new range or FFL retail shop. Attendees also will find many networking opportunities to renew friendships and build new relationships, plus a range-retailer trade show. The trade show’s vendors will showcase the latest in range equipment, software solutions designed to streamline enterprise processes and enhance the customer experience, target manufacturers and equipment distributors, among others.

“With the millions of new gun owners and shooters now part of the firearm community, demand on the range, retail floor and for classroom time has never been higher. Attending the Expo is critical for existing businesses who want to gain, maintain or retain a competitive edge in this new environment,” said Snow. “There’s really no other event like it, and this year it has the added dimension of bringing industry a step closer to returning to normalcy.”

NSSF’s Range-Retailer Business Expo takes place July 12-14 in West Palm Beach, Florida. All firearm retailers and range operators are invited to attend, and NSSF members receive a significant discount on their registration fee.
