KNDS appoints Philippe Balducchi as Chief Financial Officer

KNDS, the defense technology group which brings together Nexter (France) and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (Germany) to form Europe’s leading company for military land systems, is filling the position of its Group Chief Financial Officer with Philippe Balducchi, former CEO of Airbus Canada. Philippe Balducchi will be a member of the KNDS Executive Committee led by CEO Frank Haun. The 57-year-old will assume his new role on September 1, 2021. Until then, the position will be held jointly by Horst Rieder and Nicolas Million, the CFOs of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter.
Philippe Balducchi played a central role in the creation of Airbus Canada, which arose from the partnership between aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace, the Canadian province of Quebec, and Airbus in July 2018. As the CEO of the company, he led the transformation of the A220 program and its integration into Airbus with the launch of a new Final Assembly Line for the A220 in the US, a reshaped industrial set up, more than 150 deliveries and an order book that doubled.
Philippe Balducchi began his career in 1988 at US chip manufacturer Harris Semiconductor. This was followed by leadership positions in finance at Matra, before he moved to Airbus in 2001. There, he was CFO of Airbus North America, Head of Investor Relations for Airbus Group in Toulouse, and Head of Performance Management for Airbus’ commercial aircraft business, until he took over the leadership of Airbus Canada in 2018. He is an aviation engineer and holds an MBA from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales.

Gould Brothers Break World Record

Gould_Record_Breaking_Clay_lgANOKA, Minnesota – May 27, 2021 – There is a new distance record for breaking a clay target with a shotgun load following an epic day at a rural Minnesota farm. Federal Ammunition sponsored shooters Steve and Aaron Gould, who make up the popular Gould Brothers exhibition team, broke their own record not once but twice outside Osakis, Minnesota on a cold and windy day this spring.

“We are always trying to push the limits of what is possible, and we knew that Federal’s TSS would be the round to make it possible to break a clay pigeon at further distances than we had in the past,” exclaimed Steve Gould.

The previous record was 160 yards set several years back by the duo of brothers. Now with Federal, and having the world’s leading shotshell manufacturer backing them, a new record was ready to be set. The Gould Brothers teamed up with Federal’s Adam Moser, lead shotshell engineer, to better understand the capabilities of Heavyweight TSS in both 7 and 9 shot sizes at extreme ranges.

“The #7 TSS has a significant advantage at 170 yards over the #5 lead at 160 yards. Three times the pellet energy and 100+ more pellets in the payload,” stated Moser, when explaining the differences between Heavyweight TSS and the previously lead load used to set the record.

Having that knowledge, Steve and Aaron Gould attempted the 170-yard shot and Aaron was able to break the record only to be bested minutes later by brother Steve who successfully broke a clay target with Heavyweight TSS #7 at 180 yards!

“We knew we could break the record; we just didn’t know by how much. To pull the trigger of a shotgun and see a clay break at 180 yards, that is pretty cool,” stated Aaron Gould.

“Pulling off incredible shots requires the best performing ammunition and what an exciting accomplishment to witness with one of our category leading products,” stated Jason Nash, Federal’s Vice President of Marketing. “What is even more amazing, is the technology they used to capture the historic event, so fans of the Gould Brothers, Federal, and shooting in general can watch history play out.”

Lexington, Ken. The Uniformer is a podcast devoted to the companies, teams, and individuals who provide the uniforms, image apparel, and equipment worn by tens of millions of workers across North America.

When asked what he thought the next few years looked like for him and the company, Fadden replied that they are already developing and implementing strategies. He sees GALLS continuing its growth strategy through a three-pronged approach; first, through strategic and opportunistic acquisitions. The second approach is to increase current customer purchases through industry-leading technologies that provide the customer with a better, faster, smarter experience. And the third approach is to attract new customers by having an outstanding reputation in the industry for service.

Fadden discussed how he sees his executive team solely to support his sales team. With over 80 stores and multiple agencies, the single customer and smaller agency are still more likely to encounter GALLS through its online presence. Mike and his team have been working on reducing the time between when a uniform order comes in to when it goes out the door to no more than three days, a remarkable feat when considering the uniforms are individually decorated.

Wrapping up the 42-minute conversation, Levine asks Fadden what he thinks of today’s challenges for our first responder communities and what it might mean for the community’s future. Fadden responds by saying GALLS is already answering those challenges. In regards to budget constraints, now and possibly in the future, GALLS has created a program that demonstrates how an agency can save money and with that extra money, be able to afford life-saving protection equipment such as body armor and helmets. With vendor partners, all working to keep the rising prices at a minimum, GALLS can help agencies of any size, with procurement processes. Fadden is also committed to making all of the GALLS branch stores a safe, respectful environment for first responders, where they can come in and receive recognition and be treated with dignity.

In a final reflection on the uniform industry, his job as CEO of GALLS and the first responder community, Fadden remains laser-focused on the people who wear the uniform and admits that his best days at work are when he is out with his employees.

Madrid, May 27, 2021.- The Board of Directors of the Company, meeting today, has considered that the proper performance of his duties by the Chief Executive Officer requires that at all times he has the full confidence of its main shareholder, given also his position, as a representative of the state public sector, the Company’s main client and whose decisions have a relevant impact on its business.

The Board also stressed that the permanence of the other two executive directors, who are already in charge in their respective responsibilities, of the Company’s operations, as well as the corporate general manager, guarantees the continuity of management at the highest level, executing the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan unanimously approved by the Board of Directors last February.

For the reasons indicated above and in pursuit of the company’s best interests, the Board unanimously, following a favourable report from the Appointments, Remuneration and Corporate Governance Committee, has adopted the following resolutions:

1. To revoke, with effect from today’s date, the powers delegated to D. Fernando Abril-Martorell as Executive Chairman, to dismiss him from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors and not to submit his re-election to the Meeting, thus entailing the termination of the contract for the provision of executive services that binds the parties.

2. To accept the resignation of Mr. Abril-Martorell as a member of the Board, submitted following the above-mentioned revocation, pursuant to the provisions of article 23.2 f) of the regulations of the Board of Directors.

3. To co-opt Mr. Marc Murtra Millar as director, with the qualification of other external.

4. To appoint Mr. Marc Murtra Millar as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.

5. To delegate in favor of the executive board members Mr. Ignacio Mataix Entero and Ms. Cristina Ruiz Ortega, respectively responsible for the Transport and Defense and Minsait divisions, all the delegable powers of the Board, appointing them jointly and severally as Chief Executive Officers.

The appointment of Marc Murtra as Indra’s non-executive chairman will help improve the company’s existing excellent relationship with the different authorities and enhance Indra’s positioning with a view to the NextGenerationEU European funds and, therefore, increasing its growth capacity.

The Board unanimously acknowledged Mr. Abril-Martorell’s valuable contribution and leadership throughout his tenure as Chairman, placing high value on his management and the substantial transformation the Company has undergone since he took office in 2015.

I hope you’ve all had a great week and are looking forward to a great Memorial Day. If you’re traveling, be safe and enjoy your journey. On this national holiday we remember the men and women in uniform who laid down their lives for our country. They paid the ultimate price to keep the United States of America the envy of the world. For 2021, I ask that you also remember the 593,000 citizens who succumbed to COVID-19. Their deaths are attributable to Chinese Communist Party actions.

There’s been a great deal of discussion about the origins of the corona virus only to be complicated by CCP lies and misinformation; however, the bottom line is that the virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It’s also become increasingly evident that the Lab was engaged in gain-of-function research. If you’re not familiar with the term, gain-of-function research involves modifying a pathogen to increase its pathogenicity, transmissibility and host vulnerability. The end product can be used to develop cures or vaccines in the event they surface naturally through mutations or it can be used as a biological weapon.

It’s also known that in November of 2019, three lab workers contracted COVID-19, an event that the CCP did not immediately disclose. The CCP response was to deny international investigators access to their lab, research documents and personnel. In December of 2019, it became clear to the CCP that COVID is highly transmissible, much more than the flu which led the CCP to lockdown Wuhan blocking all travel from China’s Hubei Province to the rest of China. However, the CCP encouraged and in fact demanded that foreign travel from the Hubei Province continue uninterrupted, a position that persisted until March of 2020 kicking off the global spread of COVID-19 . There are a couple of articles that support my statement.

One article, How China locked down internally for COVID-19, but pushed foreign travel by Sandip Sen, writing for the Economic Times, India Today. Sandip opens his piece saying…

“There is new evidence to show that China locked down all domestic traffic internally by end January 2020 but pushed to open foreign travel till end March. Data from Tom Tom traffic index, a traffic location site that covers 416 cities across 57 countries show that as a result of this strategy, China, intentionally or otherwise, was able to lockdown its cities unknown to the world. While this reduced the spread of the Corona virus within China, China’s aggressive foreign travel policy lead to a virus explosion worldwide. Here is the chronological events of what happened with the requisite traffic data from 10 major cities globally and the statements from Chinese leaders that will help readers reach their own conclusions…”

“China may have allowed the new coronavirus to spread across the world by allowing international flights to and from Hubei province, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, while taking stronger measures to ensure the virus didn’t spread within China, according to the latest criticism of the country’s handling of the outbreak…”

This is where the story begins and I respectfully present my hypothesis. Readers familiar with the scientific method know that it’s a systematic process for evaluating findings to determine whether they’re fact or fiction.

My hypothesis is that the CCP understood the pathogenesis and transmissibility of the virus; furthermore, they allowed it to escape in order to disrupt the global economy. But, the real target was the United States and Donald J. Trump. Trump and his Administration was bad for China business, he imposed sanctions, tariffs and worked internationally to keep China in check.

I’ve already established that the CCP continued operating international flights into and out of the Hubei Province; in fact, it wasn’t until March that China closed to foreign travel, that’s nearly three months after their lab workers contracted the disease. Here’s what Reuters said “On February 4, the Civil Aviation Administration of China requested that local airlines keep operating international flights to countries that hadn’t imposed restrictions on inbound travel.”

I don’t believe that China was inept, or incompetent, I believe they were deliberate and their actions were calculated and designed to disrupt the global economy. China needed an event sufficiently large that the U.S. could not escape its effects, and by the time our government imposed widespread travel bans the virus had already entered the country and began to spread exponentially.

The chart above indicates the distribution of COVID cases worldwide. We see that China, which has 18.5% of the total world population, had 0.05% of the Covid cases.

This graph shows the COVID case growth, outside of China, from 22 Jan 2020, to 20 May 2021. I want to call your attention to the slope of the graph from 22 Jan to 06 March. That time slice coincides with the period during which China’s Civil Aviation Administration ordered international flights to continue operating.

Yesterday, the White House ordered the intelligence community to produce a full report in 90 days. I’m asking you not to lose sight of this investigation. This is not an event that should be forgotten as we get back to normal, and the CCP should be held to account. If we, as a country, fail to do this, you can be assured there will be more of attacks and possibly worse in scope. Unlike anthrax, turning a virus found in nature through gain-of-function enhancement into a bio weapon allows the perpetrator to say what the CCP is saying to this date, that it came from a bat, I think they call it plausible deniability.

I will continue to seek information that disproves my hypothesis but I have yet to find any, and everything that I’ve seen so far confirms it.

The Culmination of a Legacy

The following is a statement on the passing of Sen. John Warner (R-VA) from retired Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Arnold L. Punaro, chairman of the National Defense Industrial Association and former staff director of the Senate Armed Services Committee:

“Senator John Warner was one of the greatest of the Greatest Generation. He always put the country’s interests ahead of his personal interests and led from the front on both military and political battlefields. Our nation will truly miss Senator Warner, who was the epitome of leadership and bipartisanship.

“I was privileged to work almost daily with Senator Warner for almost 20 years, including when I was staff director of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He and my boss, Senator Sam Nunn, then SASC Chair, worked on a close bipartisan basis to address the many challenges facing our military and our nation. We travelled to war zones together and many other hot spots around the world, and we benefitted greatly from Warner’s insights from his own service in uniform in World War II and the Korean War. One of the most memorable times was our visit to the battleship USS Wisconsin on station in the first Gulf War. We were in the gun turret of the massive 16-inch guns, and I marveled as Senator Warner gave instructions to the crew on its operations.

“I was also privileged to have him write the forward for my memoir, ‘On War and Politics: The Battlefield Inside Washington’s Beltway.’ I was fortunate enough to work with him on a number of issues after he left the Senate, and I was always amazed by his ability to recount even the most minute details of all the major decisions he made in the Senate. He remained active in national security and military issues throughout his life, and our nation is stronger for his contributions.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends and former staff today.”

More Women Falling in Love with Precision Rifle Shooting

GRAND JUNCTION, CO (AGirlandAGun.org) — One of the most popular training topics at the 9th Annual A Girl & A Gun National Conference Presented by GLOCK was precision rifle. More than 40 women were able to participate in the training, which was led by Russell Anthon and Hank Ownbey of Defenders USA. Participants enjoyed Ruger precision rifles with Vortex optics and Hornady ammunition.

“I literally could have stayed up there all night to continue training,” said one student. “A fire has been lit and I cannot wait to continue training for precision rifle!”

Ruger, who was a Diamond Sponsor of the National Conference, supplied loaner rifles for the classes. Students used Ruger Precision rifles and Ruger American rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. The actions on the rifles all ran smooth and students could easily manipulate the bolt with consistent lockup. Subminute accuracy on the rifles was on point for training. The Ruger Precision modular chassis is easily customizable for the end user making it a stellar gateway rifle for these women at a great price point. The rifles had enough adjustability that all students could hit targets at 1,000 yards and beyond in minimal time.

“I had apprehension going into this class, but wanted to prove to myself that I could grasp the mechanics in shooting a precision rifle,” said another student. “After Russell and Hank explained the details of reading the MIL and MOA in the scope and the extreme basics, I hit 1,000 yards on my first attempt!”

The long range at Cameo Shooting and Education Complex was the perfect location for this class. Targets are placed incrementally out to 2,003 yards. The topography challenged the students to learn how to read the mirage and calculate the wind that is redirecting constantly off of the mountains. The beauty of the area is breath-taking with views of snowcapped mountains and the Colorado National Monument in the distance.

“I wanted to explore this new shooting discipline and LOVED it!” said a third student. “I am definitely expanding to this shooting platform, too. I can’t wait to take another class!”

Firearm Industry Honors Senator Kevin Cramer as Legislator of the Year

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearm, ammunition, hunting and recreational shooting sports industry, recognized U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) as the 2020 National Shooting Sports Foundation Legislator of the Year for his determined commitment to protect the firearm industry against discriminatory banking practices and preserving America’s Constitutional rights.

Senator Cramer was instrumental in calling for an end to the discriminatory practices against the firearm industry when he introduced the Freedom Financing Act, S. 821. The legislation was written to prevent financial institutions from accessing taxpayer-subsidized government programs while at the same time denying banking services to lawful and compliant industries. The bill would have prohibited access to the Federal Reserve Discount Window Lending Programs, Federal Deposit Insurance Company and Automated Clearing House Network to any financial institution with over $10 billion in assets, credit card processor and other financial institution which discriminated against the manufacturer and retailer of firearms, ammunition and shooting sports equipment.

“We are honored to present Senator Cramer with the 2020 NSSF Legislator of the Year Award for his bold and determined leadership in the U.S. Senate to end the discrimination against firearm businesses by those in the banking sector,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Senator Cramer has been an invaluable partner to the firearm and ammunition industry on Capitol Hill. NSSF appreciates his commitment to protect the firearm industry against this unwarranted discrimination and enable businesses to serve their customers not just in North Dakota, but across the nation.”

Senator Cramer’s Freedom Financing Act was just the first of many actions he spearheaded to guard the firearm industry against discriminatory lending practices. Senator Cramer led tough questioning of banking executives under oath to hold them accountable for their policy decisions to benefit from taxpayer protections and at the same time deny a Constitutionally-protected industry from banking services. Senator Cramer worked closely with the White House and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to publish the Fair Access Banking Rule, that was finalized by the Trump administration, only to be canceled by the Biden administration.

Undeterred, Senator Cramer introduced the Fair Access to Banking Act, S. 563 this year, that would require banks to provide access to services, capital, and credit based on the objective risk assessment of individual customers, rather than subjective broad-based decisions affecting whole categories or classes of customers.

The Fair Access to Banking Act would stop corporate banks from picking winners and losers based on executives’ personal politics. It also protects banks from outside pressure by special interest groups seeking to use the banks as a political weapon to advance their agenda. It currently has 31 co-sponsors.

Senate To Hold Hearing On Anti-gun ATF Director Nominee This Week!

WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, May 26th at 10:00 am EDT, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on President Biden’s nomination of anti-gun activist David Chipman to be the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).  The ASA urges all supporters of suppressor rights, and anyone who values hearing safety, to contact your Senators immediately and urge them to oppose this nomination.
Simply put, we cannot allow David Chipman and his gun and suppressor-banning cronies to run the ATF.  Chipman, who currently works as a lobbyist for the anti-gun Giffords group, has a repeated history of making false statements regarding the safety and efficacy of firearm suppressors.  In September of 2017, he testified against the SHARE Act and falsely claimed that suppressors “mask the sound of a gun, changing the sound into one not easily recognized as gunfire,” and that therefore they could make “assassination-style murders become easier.”  These false claims were so outlandish that even the Washington Post’s fact-checker gave them 3 Pinocchios.  
Contact your Senators today and ask them to vote NO on David Chipman.  Let them know you value your rights and your hearing, and don’t want an anti-suppressor activist running the ATF.

Gun control proponents are already making a full court press for senators to approve Chipman for the post. The entire firearm and ammunition industry, and all supporters of the Second Amendment, must make their voices heard in opposition to Chipman’s nomination.

Prague, 24 May, 2021 – CZG – Česká zbrojovka Group SE (“CZG” or “the Group”; PSE: CZG) today announced that, after securing all necessary regulatory approvals from the U.S. and Canadian authorities, it has successfully closed on its acquisition of 100% of the equity interest in Colt Holding Company LLC (“Colt”), the parent company of the U.S. firearms manufacturer, Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC as well as its Canadian subsidiary, Colt Canada Corporation.

CZG and Colt are confident that the merger will bring significant operational, commercial, and R&D synergies for the combined business, which generated pro-forma aggregated annual sales in excess of USD 570 million in 2020 and which has more than 2,000 employees in the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada and Germany.

“With this acquisition, we have created a strategic relationship between CZG and Colt, which will bring significant opportunities for the group. Command Master Chief Dewilde retired from the United States Navy in 2017 after serving more than 30 years in various operational and strategic leadership roles across USSOCOM. He has completed 17 overseas deployments and has planned and led numerous sensitive national combat and crisis response missions worldwide. His operational assignments and executive level leadership tours include the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGROUP), SEAL Team Two, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Naval Special Warfare Center and Naval Special Warfare Group Two. He has been awarded the Silver Star and four Bronze Stars for Valor along with many other medals and various unit and campaign awards. Prior to joining SENTRY, he served as Vice President of Operations for The Honor Foundation (THF), a nationwide educational institution assisting U.S. Special Operations service members in their career transitions.

FAA Milestone: 400 Licensed Commercial Space Launches and Counting

Today’s Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo flight from Spaceport America in New Mexico marks the 400th launch that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has licensed. This achievement is made possible by the U.S. commercial space industry’s ingenuity and the FAA’s commitment to public safety.

FAA licensing is a critical step in protecting public safety during commercial space operations. An FAA license is required to conduct any commercial space launch or reentry, the operation of any launch or reentry site by U.S. citizens anywhere in the world, or by any individual or entity within the United States.

The FAA works with operators to make sure they are meeting the requirements to conduct launches. This includes having FAA safety inspectors monitor all phases of licensed activities. The agency also works with the industry to safely and efficiently integrate commercial space operations in the National Airspace System.

There have been no fatalities, serious injuries or significant property damage to members of the public during any FAA-licensed launch. The FAA is committed to maintaining this safety record as the pace of commercial space operations quickens.

The number of FAA-licensed commercial space launches has dramatically accelerated from only one in 2011 to a record 39 in 2020. The growth is expected to continue as the industry looks towards space tourism in the coming years.

The first licensed launch occurred in New Mexico, when a Space Services Starfire launched from White Sands Missile Range in 1989.

The subsequent launches included suborbital and orbital flights and missions that delivered payloads to the Earth’s orbit and moon as well as interplanetary space. The missions had diverse goals such as carrying supplies and crew to the International Space Station, advancing scientific and medical research, and testing space capsules and rocket systems. They also involved deploying satellites for commercial use and for supporting the national interests of the United States.

The launches occurred in seven U.S. states, four foreign countries and the international waters of the Pacific Ocean. They were launched from traditional land-based sites, ocean platforms and while airborne using carrier aircraft.
