Designed for longevity, the XRL contains a 250mAh lithium-ion battery that recharges via USB-C in approximately an hour and offers over 100 ignitions per charge; the equivalent of a box of matches, but infinitely more sustainable. A power/charge indicator displays remaining energy at a glance, and the protective locking cover ensures the lighter is safe to pack, store, or carry in your gear bag or glove box.
In addition to ignition, the XRL includes an integrated three-mode LED flashlight built directly into its frame. Capable of emitting up to 55 lumens on high for one hour, 35 lumens on low for two hours, or functioning in strobe mode for emergency signaling, this added feature makes the XRL a dual-purpose tool ideal for camping, roadside emergencies, power outages, or any low-light scenario where visibility and fire starting might go hand in hand.

NSSF Awards $50,000 in Patron Member Student Scholarships
20 Students are recognized for their essays on firearm-related topics
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has awarded $50,000 in scholarship funds to 20 students in its essay contest open to employees of Patron Member companies and their family members.
“On behalf of the NSSF, I would like to congratulate the scholarship award winners and extend our appreciation to all who entered the essay contest,” said Tammy McIntyre, NSSF’s Manager, Member Services, who oversees the NSSF Patron Member Scholarship Program. “This year’s essays allowed students to explore deep-rooted topics that affect firearm ownership in America today and tap into the history of our constitutional rights. It was great to see so many applicants submit passionate essays and to have these students honored through the NSSF Patron Member Scholarship Program,” said McIntyre.
To earn one of the 20 scholarships offered, employees of NSSF Patron Member companies or their qualified family members submitted applications and essays on one of the following topics:
- Colonial militias at Concord and Lexington pushed back British regulars in April of 1775, marking the start of the American Revolutionary War. In this 250th anniversary year of the “shot heard round the world,” discuss the importance of keeping and bearing arms to American history.
- Elaborate on the intrinsic connection between the First and Second Amendments.
- Discuss the difference between a Right and a Privilege and how it impacts our understanding of the Bill of Rights and our Constitutional Amendments.
- Reflect on a personal experience or story that shaped your view on responsible gun ownership. How has this influenced your perspective on safety, rights or advocacy in the firearms community?
The $8,000 Grand Prize scholarship winner was Anthony D., Olin Winchester.

At the core of the BE:1 Reactor Heated Puffy Vest is a safe and sophisticated warming system. First, ScentLok included five contemporary internal heating pads in key areas: two on the chest, one on the back, and pair covering the kidney area. Its new 7.4V/2.4A powerhouse also produces more warmth than the common 5V/2A models on the market.
Activating the heat is made simple via a one-button design. Choose from low, medium, or high, each setting telegraphed by their unique colors beaming through the button, so you’ll always know the temperature setting.
The BE:1 Reactor Heated Puffy Vest loft comes from its 80g of Sorona® Aura insulation. Sorona Aura is breathable and retains warmth with less filling and weight, creating a more comfortable garment. It’s partially plant based, too, which reduces its impact on the environment and certified by the Sorona® Common Thread Fabric Certification Program to ensure the origin and the high-performance standards of this innovative, sustainably sourced insulation. It also maintains its loft wash after wash, so you can look good and stay warm day after day.
Like the majority of ScentLok garments, the BE:1 Reactor Heated Puffy Vest also sports Carbon Alloy® technology, which combines treated carbon, activated carbon, and zeolite to absorb odors emitted by your body. Carbon Alloy utilizes natural coconut shell carbon, as it has the largest internal surface area of any carbon on earth. This massive surface area promotes the adsorption of the broadest scent molecule range. It innately secures these molecules and holds them until you reactivate your gear in a household dryer.

Instructor Madison Pope holds a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in psychology and has 19 years of martial arts experience, earning her Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt in 2022. With eight years of teaching experience, she has led self-defense seminars for all ages and became the youngest instructor for the special operations community, where she developed and taught Low Visibility Applications courses within USASOC and worked as a surveillance technician.

NSSF Applauds President’s Executive Order Ending Banking Discrimination
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, applauds President Donald Trump’s signing today at The White House the Executive Order Guaranteeing Free and Fair Banking for All Americans. Today’s executive order enforces a firearm industry priority to end banking discrimination against individuals and entities based on political beliefs. For years, members of the firearm industry have been denied banking and financial services by banks espousing “woke” anti-Second Amendment policies.
“President Trump is yet again delivering on his promise to protect Americans’ rights. This time by ensuring that banks cannot discriminate against firearm-related businesses based on unaccountable corporate executives trying to impose a “woke” gun control agenda beyond what the law requires,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “American businesses, and firearm businesses in particular, must have fair access to essential banking services that are based on an objective criteria and creditworthiness. Politics should not enter into a bank’s lending decision. NSSF is encouraged that President Trump is today putting an end to ‘woke banking.’”
President Trump’s Executive Order highlighted attempts by the previous administration to illegally surveil Americans lawfully exercising their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms through the willing cooperation of corporate banks. The president also noted the illegal “Operation Choke Point,” executed by the Obama administration, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the Department of Justice (DOJ), along with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), to deny essential banking services to firearm-related businesses based on an ill-defined and amorphous “reputational risk” criteria.
These banking discrimination efforts had a devastating effect on firearm-related businesses, both large and small. Recent news reports, though, show that banking regulators during the Biden administration continued to illegally pressure banks to refuse banking services based on politics. However, during the prior Trump administration, large banks free from regulatory pressure simply privatized “woke” banking policies against conservative groups including members of the firearm industry. This led to a proposed Fair Access to Banking rule by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) that the Biden administration stopped in January of 2021 before it could become effective.
NSSF continues to support Congressional efforts to codify these protections against banking discrimination by the Fair Access to Banking Act, introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by U.S. Rep. Andy Barr (R-Ky.) as H.R. 987 and in the U.S. Senate by U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) as S. 401, as well as the Firearm Industry Nondiscrimination (FIND) Act, introduced in the House by Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.) as H.R. 45 and the Senate by Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) as S. 137.
