Thank God it’s Friday! We’ve made it through another hellacious week. In all candor, the COVID-19 Delta strain, get a vaccine, don’t get a vaccine, you need a mask you don’t need a mask extravaganza has me completely bored. You may be thinking of going to visit a therapist but folks they’re as screwed up as you are. I got word yesterday afternoon that my nephew’s son has tested positive for the COVID Delta variant, he is 12 years old and is now isolated from his younger brother, so you can take the transmissibility reputation of the Delta variant to the bank. The solution is to get yourself and immediate members of your family vaccinated. If you or your family members have preexisting conditions you’ll want to discuss it with your family physician.
The medical component of the COVID national response was first rate but the communication and public relations is an absolute disaster. The first to blame for the communications failure is the media who handled this pandemic like imbeciles, they were concerned more with showing how much they knew than communicating an accurate message. The CDC was equally incompetent and I say that with respect for the work they do. They should have hired a public relations firm to manage the messaging and distribute information in a clear, palatable and non-threating manner. What we have done is demonstrate how utterly incompetent the country is in dealing with what I will describe as a CBRN incident. All I can say is we better get our shit together because this will happen again and from my point of view it won’t be a random natural event.
So, if all of this stuff stresses you out, for God’s sake don’t go to a therapist; instead schedule a shoot the shit. A therapist is a jackass who majored in psychology so they could understand themselves. A shoot the shit , especially with free food, on the other hand, will set you back the price of a couple of pizzas. Participants don’t need to know anything about the topic being discussed, they are free to make any unsupported statement they wish, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether. So, let’s shoot the shit…
Who besides me is excited about the prospect of commercial space travel? This month we saw two of the world’s richest men fly to space aboard crafts and technology they funded. We literally have morons in Congress that feel they should be paying taxes and not investing in space related ventures. You’ve got to be extraordinarily stupid. Someone should suggest to them that the reason they’re paying so little taxes is that they’re using laws they created. I love wealthy people, but what we should be doing is providing every fiscal incentive available for new business creation.
What Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson and Jeff Bezos accomplished on July 11 and July 20 respectively is a major accomplishment. Their projects will expedite colonization of the moon and possibly Mars, and the activities needed to support their efforts will create hundreds of thousands of jobs impacting a broad base of the U.S. Economy. The first thing that comes to mind is the impact of reusable launch vehicles on things like telecommunications, navigation and a variety of industries or organizations that rely on space based assets. So let’s encourage more of this activity and not discourage it.

There were two distinct approaches to a common endeavor, space travel. Jeff Bezos propels an unpiloted capsule using a reusable first stage. Interestingly, some prominent media commentators have compared Blue Origin’s vehicles to a phallic symbol, but unless I’ve misread Jeff Bezos, it’s unlikely you’ll see mockups in adult toy stores or Black & Decker offering vibrating models.
Virgin Galactic’s vehicle is a far less suggestive design. The space vehicle is flown by a host aircraft to an altitude of 50,000 feet AGL; then released, and under its own power fly to space. Branson’s trip was piloted and took him to an altitude of 300,000 feet AGL.
I can’t wait to see what Elon Musk will do but he’s already demonstrated his abilities with SpaceX

Pro Tip: Ballistic App and Suppressed Rifles
Gainesville, GA (July 21, 2021) Suppressors are great tools for serious shooters, especially long-distance competitors and hunters. Quality suppressors reduce muzzle blasts to safe hearing levels without hearing protection, making communication between shooters more efficient. In most cases, a suppressor will even lessen the felt recoil of a rifle. However, shooters need to make specific allowances for suppressed firearms.
“A suppressor can change your rifle’s point of impact,” said Curt Vaughn, veteran long-distance shooting competitor and Head of Product for Ballistic. “If you shoot with your suppressor on all the time, you should be fine. However, if you have it on and off, you will, in most cases, see a shift in impact from zero when going from an unsuppressed to a suppressed rifle.”
When possible, Vaughn advised, always keep the suppressor attached to your rifle. However, if you do have to remove it for certain shots, make sure you know the point of impact shift which will result, and hold over and/or to the side accordingly.
One question that frequently comes up: how might a suppressor affect your bullet’s velocity? Interestingly, a recent study looked at this question and found that a suppressor can alter your load’s feet per second (fps) velocity. And here, Ballistic can aid the long-distance shooter.
The study, “Effects of Sound Suppressors on Muzzle Velocity, Bullet Yaw, and Drag,”
https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1802/1802.05748.pdf was written by four researchers based on tests they conducted at the Fusilier Complex, a private shooting range in Lafayette, Louisiana. Using rifles chambered in .300 Win Mag, the researchers shot four different factory ammunition loads; three of the loads were fired through rifles equipped with different models of suppressors, while the fourth load was shot unsuppressed.
Among other variables, muzzle velocities were recorded for each load. Compared to the rifles and loads with no suppression, many suppressed loads showed a slight decrease in fps, from 10- to 30-fps slower. However, depending on the ammunition used, some of the suppressed loads produced muzzle velocities 10- to 20-fps above non-suppressed loads. Will plus or minus 10- to 30-fps affect your accuracy? Not if you are shooting at steel or a big bull elk a couple of hundred yards away.
But once you go long, like 1,000 yards or more, a difference of 30-fps can and will change important variables including bullet drop and the point at which the bullet goes from super- to sub-sonic, Vaughn noted.
The only way to know the effect of your suppressor on your bullet’s velocity is to chronograph your loads with your rifle’s suppressor attached and with it off. If the velocities are the same? Your current Ballistic profile for that round is good to go. But if there’s a variation, you will want to develop a new Ballistic profile and have both profiles ready in your iPhone, iPad or laptop. Name one, “6.5 CM-UNSUPP,” for example, the other “6.5CM-Suppressed.”
This way, you will be ready for that precision shot with or without your suppressor attached.

A Girl & A Gun Filed Amicus Brief Defending Rights to Keep and Bear Arms
AUSTIN, TX (AGirlandAGun.org) — One of the nation’s largest female firearms organizations, A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG), has filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court urging justices to declare a New York state concealed carry gun law unconstitutional.
For the first time in several years, the United States Supreme Court will hear a major gun control case. On Monday the Court granted a writ of certiorari to New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Keith Corlett, over whether Corlett’s Second Amendment right was violated when New York denied his applications for a concealed carry license because the applicant did not show an “actual and articulable” need to carry.
An amicus curiae is Latin for “friend of the court” and is a common feature in appellate state and federal appellate courts especially in the U.S. Supreme Court. The brief allows A Girl & A Gun to express its views directly to the Supreme Court, since the resolution of this case could affect how its members exercise their rights to keep and bear arms.
In the amicus brief, AG & AG joins Black Guns Matter and Armed Equality, organizations whose members also have a vested interest in the outcome of this case. The brief states, “African Americans, women, sexual minorities, religious minorities, immigrants, political dissidents and other historically marginalized groups are especially vulnerable to abuse under New York’s discretionary scheme.”
“The right to self-defense is a fundamental right,” says Robyn Sandoval, Executive Director of A Girl & A Gun. “The gun is ‘the great equalizer’ that allows a woman to defend herself and her family against a much larger and stronger threat. Americans should not have to seek arbitrary consent to exercise their Constitutional rights. The bureaucratic delays and denials put families’ lives at risk.”
New York is among eight states that limit who has the right to carry a firearm in public. The others are California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.
Sandoval was also quoted in a second amicus brief submitted by the Independent Women’s Law Center. This brief argues that “the Second Amendment secures a personal right to carry a firearm outside the home for purposes of self-defense. This right is especially important for individuals for whom a firearm is the great equalizer: women.”
The DC Project, Operation Blazing Sword, and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, as well as 25 U.S. Senators, 26 States Attorneys General, and several other interested parties, have also submitted briefs for this case.

For systems requiring the highest assurance, such as commercial aerospace, medical device, and autonomous driving applications, the QGen code generator is being qualified by AdaCore and its partner Verocel at DO-178C Tool Qualification Level 1 (TQL-1), which is the highest level of qualification recognized by the FAA. QGen with TQL-1 allows developers to use the generated code without any manual review, streamlining the critical-system development and verification process. In addition, QGen includes an interactive model-level debugger, displaying the model together with the generated source code to provide a uniquely productive bridge between control engineering and software engineering.
QGen is now available with an Enterprise Qualification Package. This package comes with flexible licensing so that projects of any size, company-wide, can take advantage of the use of a TQL-1 qualified autocode generator. The package is based on a unique subscription approach, which provides an enhanced qualification kit every year. The same warranties are provided to all projects, including expert support for certification audits. Large organisations that perform many of their development and verification activities through model simulation can now dramatically reduce verification activities on the generated code, reducing costs while streamlining the overall certification process.

Being 0.75” deep this knife design fits easily inside a pocket with a deep carry clip position. It is both concealable and quick to remove from a pocket when needed. Combining these two features makes this an outstanding daily carry knife. A black oxide finish also mutes the metal making it blend well to dark clothing – like jeans – and hiding potential dirt stuck to the blade or scales.
The scales themselves are G10 and do house the liner locking mechanism. Set within the scales is a lanyard loop to affix a variety of lanyard or safety devices of choice. Beyond the aesthetic design is the practical texturing of the G10. Similar to the checkering of a gunstock, the scales feature a deep but subtle texture for grip retention and comfort. This reduces the potential slippage when using the knife around various environmental factors like rain or oil.

NSSF has supported every ATF director nomination that has been reported out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, including President Barack Obama’s nominee, B. Todd Jones who was confirmed by the Senate.
Keane added, “NSSF encourages President Biden to withdraw the nominee and nominate an unbiased, more qualified person to run ATF, someone the industry could support.”

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), in partnership with mental health experts from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and George Washington University, today released a recorded webinar video to help parents of teens recognize signs that their children may be facing mental health challenges—and share resources on how to talk to kids about mental health, make homes safer for those who may be at risk and help reduce the risk of suicide among teens.
“Studies show that suicide is preventable and simple actions like storing firearms securely when not in use can help save a life,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President and CEO.
The video, which aired live from NSSF and Project ChildSafe’s Facebook page, features a panel discussion between Dr. Doreen Marshall, AFSP’s Vice President of Mission Engagement, and Dr. Sherry Molock, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at George Washington University, on signs teens exhibit when they are dealing with challenges to their mental health, including having thoughts of self-harm. Both experts emphasize the importance of parents having conversations with their kids if they sense their children are struggling.
Dr. Molock and Dr. Marshall encourage parents to watch for warning signs that their teen may be experiencing mental health challenges by observing what they say, how they behave and the moods they project. According to these experts, the most important things parents can do if they recognize any of these signs are to have a conversation with their kids and be proactive in preventing access to potential means of self-harm.
“We know many teens may be thinking about suicide, so talking about it with our kids—before it becomes a crisis—is really important,” Dr. Marshall says. “It may sound difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Talking openly with our young people about mental health, just as we would physical health, can be the key to preventing a crisis, and saving a life.”
Dr. Molock agrees, emphasizing that talking about mental health and self-harm with our kids does not cause them to attempt suicide.
“Many kids are actually relieved to be able to talk about it, so let the young person know you can handle the discussion, and you’re willing to do anything to keep them safe,” Dr. Molock says.
Also important is creating “time and distance” between a person having thoughts of suicide and a method of harm. When access to a potential lethal means is interrupted, it creates an opportunity for the person to change their mind and seek professional care. Recognizing that firearms are sometimes involved in suicide attempts, NSSF’s Bartozzi urges gun-owning parents to practice safe firearm storage and learn about available secure storage options.
“We need to discuss this issue openly and honestly as a community and give parents the tools and information they need to make the home environment safer if they’re concerned someone in their family is at risk,” Bartozzi says. “In addition to thinking about prescription drug and other means, it may also mean rethinking how and where you store your firearms.”
The webinar complements a free resource developed by NSSF and AFSP—“A Guide for Parents: Understanding Youth Mental Health and Preventing Unauthorized Access to Firearms”—available at NSSF’s Project ChildSafe® website or AFSP’s Project 2025 website.

It’s Friday and what a week it has been, so if you are feeling like Linda Blair I understand. The general population is having to deal with vaccination fights, critical race theory and the U.N. being asked to investigate racism in America. So, I think we’re in need of a good shoot the shit, the other alternative is a trip to the therapist which will cost you at least $150 per hour and you’ll be paying it to a jackass that majored in psychology so they could understand themselves. Example of psychology at work:
People who’ve suffered a family or spousal loss sometimes blame themselves for their loss, could they have done something to save them. A therapist would handle that by saying John or Mary nothing you did brought about their demise. I know you miss them but it’s not your fault. Now, the same jackass will advance critical race theory, which is designed to make your Caucasian child feel guilty about his or her race.
Take a look at Britney Spears, they had her on lithium carbonate, I don’t known how long she’s been on it, but lithium is used to treat manic disorders. I’ll give you just a couple of its side effects: pseudotumor cerebri (increased pressure in the brain), and all kinds of Encephalopathic syndromes especially when taken with other neuroleptics. Amazing!

Most of our life ending or serious medical conditions have genetic origin. Simply stated, your DNA has the code for that particular malady, cancer being one of the most common; the gene may never express itself, or it may be triggered by an environmental influence. Which is the reason we avoid certain things and don’t do others. Biochemically random events will cause free radicals which act on DNA to trigger gene expression.
The argument being advanced by the “don’t get vaccinated crowd” is based around potential side-effects, this is a valid concern especially if you are the one impacted, but you’re not being presented by the second half of the equation.
The first thing you need to know is that approximately 350,000 people a year go to emergency room services to be treated for medication side-effects and interactions. Why is that? Human beings are complex biological machines and what works for one person may not work for another. Over the counter medications can and have caused serious side effects in some individuals. The medical community is fully cognizant of side-effects and measure incidents to asses their statistical significance.
So, when the media reports that two thousand patients have reported adverse side-effects from the COVID-19 vaccine, the medical community weighs those incidents against the total positive outcomes to determine if it is a concern. The question they try to answer Is if the side-effects are statistically significant relative to the population size and downside risk of not being vaccinated.
The risks of not getting vaccinated are also complex, but it potentially increases the risk of viral mutations resistant to treatment or current vaccinations, it may also increase the risk of long term medical problems from things like viral protein fragments that could bring about undesirable gene expression resulting in long-term health issues like cancer.
I want to close by suggesting that you sit down with your family doctor; have a heart-to-heart talk and be sure to share your fears and concerns,but in the final analysis you are far better off being vaccinated than not.
