NSSF, Area Leaders Launch “Project ChildSafe Albuquerque” Firearm Safety Initiative
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), Albuquerque City Councilors Brook Bassan and Klarissa Peña, representatives from Albuquerque Public Schools, the New Mexico State Police, the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish, and the Albuquerque Police Department—together with local firearm retailers and training organizations—today launched “Project ChildSafe® Albuquerque” city-wide to help prevent firearm accidents and aid in suicide prevention efforts.
“We’re launching Project ChildSafe Albuquerque with the goal of helping reduce child gun accidents, thefts, suicides and misuse of firearms,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President and CEO and Chairman of the Project ChildSafe Foundation. “Central to all of this is a goal to encourage gun owners to store their firearms responsibly. We know safe and responsible gun storage works, and helps save lives.”
NSSF and its local partners are making hundreds of free gun locks, along with a library of educational materials on firearm safety in the home, available to the community. NSSF will emphasize firearm safety messaging and remind Albuquerque gun owners that a hidden gun is not a safely-stored gun through an ongoing digital advertising campaign.
NSSF is providing the free locks and resources through its Project ChildSafe initiative, which has distributed more than 40 million free gun locks through partnerships with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country.
The citywide initiative will also focus on suicide prevention by offering residents a free Parents Resource guide, developed by NSSF in consultation with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. As the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated mental health concerns, especially among teens, it is important for gun owners to understand mental health risks and warning signs of suicide—as well as proper gun storage practices to help prevent access to a potential method of self-harm.
The free guide can help parents recognize signs their kids may be struggling with mental health issues and offers advice on how to talk to kids about suicide, and make their homes safer for those who may be at-risk.
“We want to equip parents with resources and tips to have a conversation about mental health with their children and take steps to secure firearms and other potential lethal means,” Councilor Bassan said. “Secure gun storage is one important way to provide a vital ‘pause’ that can save a life.”
Proper firearm storage can also help make communities safer by preventing guns from being stolen and used in crimes.
“It is vital that we get these tools and information to our communities in an effort to prevent tragedies,” said Councilor Peña. “It’s been an honor working with my colleague Councilor Bassan, NSSF, APD and APS to give out the gun locks—but most importantly, working with families and connecting them to resources to help prevent suicide.”
“In recent years, thanks to partnerships like this, fatal firearm accidents have dropped to historic lows and that’s a trend we want to see continue in the right direction,” Bartozzi said. “That starts with a community-shared responsibility and emphasis on firearm safety. We’re grateful to Councilors Bassan and Peña, and all our local partners for joining us in this effort.”

The MFP-21 features a Picatinny rail incorporated on the rear of the receiver. It accepts any Picatinny rail attachment brace and offers improved brace stability. This pistol also includes a new patented gas block, ambidextrous bolt release and custom two-stage trigger, designed by DRD Tactical.

Bentonville, AR (November 9, 2021)-The PileDriver is Hatsan’s first .50 caliber air rifle, and the market’s most powerful production PCP rifle. The PileDriver is designed exclusively for high-powered hunting applications. Capable of producing over 800 ft-lbs. of energy in .50 cal, it is also available in a 700+ FPE-generating .45 caliber model. Although this rifle utilizes a 33-inch barrel, its bullpup design keeps the maximum length under 4 ft. The side lever cocking mechanism is easy to reach and operate. A 480cc carbon fiber bottle fills to 4350 PSI and will provide up to 6 high-powered shots on a single fill. The PileDriver’s unique, patented hammer design eliminates traditional steel coil springs in favor of a smoother, easier-to-cock, gas piston mechanism. This top-loading single-shot rifle also features an extra-large loading port that will accommodate ammo up to 34mm in length.
The all-weather synthetic bullpup stock features an ergonomic pistol grip with textured grip surfaces for enhanced feel and control. The soft rubber buttpad is both elevation and angle adjustable to ensure controlled recoil and a comfortable fit. An elevation adjustable cheek rest ensures proper sight alignment with any optic. The rifle’s 14-inch-long scope rail is cut to accept both Picatinny and 11mm Dovetail mounts, offering plenty of real estate for a wide variety of optics. Three Picatinny accessory rails are attached around the air bottle for added customization. The high-strength steel barrel is precision rifled for long-range accuracy, and the absence of a shroud allows for the use of sabot rounds, further expanding one’s ammunition options.

Remington Firearms to Locate Global Headquarters, Open New Advanced Manufacturing Facility, World-class Research and Development Center in LaGrange, GA

Atlanta, GA – Governor Brian P. Kemp today announced Remington Firearms (RemArms), America’s oldest firearms manufacturer, will locate its global headquarters and open a new advanced manufacturing operation as well as a world-class research and development center in LaGrange, Georgia. Through these projects, RemArms will invest $100 million and create 856 jobs over a five-year period in Troup County.
“Georgia’s firearms industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of investment in our communities,” said Governor Kemp. “I am a proud owner of some of Remington’s first-class product, and now, I am excited to welcome them to their new home in the Peach State. As yet another big manufacturing win for our state, I look forward to seeing the oldest firearms manufacturer in America thrive in Georgia’s pro-business environment.”
Founded in 1816, Remington Firearms is one of the United States’ largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles. Several of the company’s strategic products will be manufactured in Georgia. The new headquarters will also become home to an innovative research and development center.

Purple Heart Ranch once again hosts MWSF Skills4Life program during deer season
November 9, 2021 – On October 8th-10th Skills4Life heroes met for a local deer hunt at Purple Heart Ranch in Sterling City, Tx. Four heroes participated, and each had multiple opportunities to tag multiple deer for freezer meat as well as a trophy for taxidermy.
While a local hunt, several veterans came from opposite ends of the country. Two veterans represented Texas, while the others came from California and New York. All of them had the pleasure to share a hunting blind and swap some stories. What really stood out was the local community that came together to support our Heroes by providing meals for them and the guides.
This is not the first visit to Purple Heart Ranch, and as with all the past stays, this one was a success. We look forward to sharing blinds with more Heroes in the future at Purple Heart Ranch.

SCI Takes a Stand Against Big Tech’s Censorship of Hunting!
Tucson, AZ (November 8, 2021) – Unfortunately, censorship of hunting-related content on social media is everywhere—and Safari Club International thinks it’s time for hunters to stand up to this censorship by Big Tech!
Big Tech’s latest censorship attempt is occurring at YouTube, the world’s largest video content media mogul, which has added new guidelines to its “Ad-Friendly Content Guidelines.” New restrictions on any picture/video showing an animal in distress caused by human action will censor content from a hunting channel and limit views.
This move will demonetize hunters, as taking away views will remove any chance of making ad revenue, the only way to make money from YouTube. Furthermore, these new guidelines will limit videos used to educate new hunters on safety and conservation issues.
But SCI is fighting against Big Tech censorship on behalf of hunters across the country. If you haven’t already, now is the time to sign onto SCI’s “Petition to Stand Up to Big Tech” at safariclub.org/hunter-advocacy-action-center/. Hunter voices need to be heard!
Facebook continues to censor hunters, too. Scrolling through your News Feed on Facebook, you’ve no doubt discovered an innocent-looking photo posted from a hunter, guide or outfitter with the photo blurred out–or even removed–and the tag “sensitive content” added to the description.
Or, you may have been in a hunting-focused Facebook or group, only to log on one day to find out the group was deleted and banned by Facebook for violating their “community standards.”
“We’ve heard countless stories from hunters, guides, outfitters, and more, of their accounts being locked or even taken down entirely with little to no warning or justification–potentially impacting their business and livelihoods,” said Laird Hamberlin, CEO of SCI.
He added, “Hunters drive conservation, wildlife management, and sustainable use. We contribute billions to conservation funding, improve critical wildlife habitat, and support local economies. Yet, we are frequently treated like we are the bad guys for participating in a legal, regulated activity that provides immense benefits.”
SCI has been fighting back. For example, after The Hunting Consortium was locked out of their accounts in 2020, SCI sent a letter directly to Facebook Chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, calling for Facebook and Instagram to immediately halt the deliberate and ongoing censorship of The Hunting Consortium Inc., a well-regarded domestic and international hunting agency, as well as other hunting organizations on their platforms.
FB accused The Hunting Consortium of promoting the poaching of endangered species, which was completely untrue, as SCI pointed out in the letter.
“Based on this reasoning alone as it relates to The Hunting Consortium, it is imperative that Facebook immediately reverse the restrictions placed on The Hunting Consortium’s accounts,” the SCI letter read, “and also educate your content moderators as to the difference between the fully legal hunting expeditions offered by The Hunting Consortium versus criminal poaching and/or animal abuse….Furthermore, conflating illegal poaching with legal hunting is a dangerous tactic that undermines the wildlife conservation benefits brought by legal hunting…”

HAAC is a revolutionary software program that enables SCI members and outdoorsmen to impact legislative issues like never before. Through the HAAC, SCI’s Government Affairs staff connect SCI members directly to elected officials at the state and federal level, enabling engagement in public comment submissions and petitions related to issues that directly affect them, such as trophy import bans, expanding hunting access, and second amendment issues.
Through the HAAC, SCI members have made thousands of direct connections with state and federal legislators, ensuring their voice is heard in the political process. And an SCI membership is not required to participate in the Hunter Advocacy Action Center.
Despite all the positives we contribute to wildlife and local communities, Big Tech too often casts us in a negative way or deletes us and our accomplishments from social media. This must end, and SCI is leading the fight!

GRINNELL, Iowa (November 8, 2021) Brownells will donate a percentage of sales during Veterans Day week to Special Operations Wounded Warriors, a 501(c)3 charity dedicated to helping Purple Heart recipients of the Special Operations community.
Starting Monday, November 8, and lasting through Sunday, November 14, Brownells will track purchases made at www.Brownells.com and give 4% of those sales up to a total donation amount of $175,000 to the veterans’ charity.
SOWW’s main mission is to provide therapeutic outdoor experiences to wounded veterans from the various Special Operations forces of the United States military. SOWW also offers other services and counseling to both Special Operations veterans and their families.

The Warrior Women Awards – A brand new awards presentation to recognize the achievements of women in the defense sector
A new awards presentation to recognize the achievements of women in the military is being launched by Bradfield & Associates in partnership with Christina Mackenzie of Women in Combat. The Warrior Women awards are to be presented next year in Paris on the evening of 13th of June to coincide with Eurosatory, the Paris based defense exhibition that attracts exhibitors and visitors from around the world.
The new set of awards are for women in the armed forces – Army, Air Force and Navy and will also include a category for Security forces. In each category there is to be an award for non-commissioned, rank and file women and another for officers and senior ranks. In addition, there are to be awards for women in the defense industries plus an Outstanding Achievement award and a Lifetime Achievement award.
The Warrior Women awards build on the work of Christina Mackenzie’s Wombat-womenincombat.com website where she profiles women who’ve chosen to put their considerable skills into defending their countries.

The “Support 4 Sami” Golden Boy Silver lever-action rifles are a continuation of Henry Repeating Arms’ Guns For Great Causes program, a charitable arm of the company that focuses on raising funds through firearms donations for individual sick children, children’s hospitals, active-duty military and veterans organizations, wildlife and habitat conservation efforts, and supporting other Henry partners.
