On Friday, November 19, we discovered that the MyTopo.com website had been attacked. Out of an abundance of caution we took our site offline shortly after identifying the security incident.
MyTopo takes the protection of your information very seriously. We are contacting you as a precautionary measure to explain the incident and provide you with steps you can take to protect your personal information.
What information was involved
We believe the attacker may have accessed personal information maintained in your profile on MyTopo.com. This information includes name, email address, billing or shipping address, and MyTopo login password.
The attacker did not access any financial or credit card information since we do not store those details on MyTopo.com servers. The breach is isolated to MyTopo.com and does not impact any other sites or related services, including Terrain Navigator Pro.
When did this happen
The event was identified on November 19 and the services were taken offline within an hour of discovery. Current investigations indicate data may have been compromised as early as November 13.
What we are doing
Our team has been working since the attack was detected to determine the extent of any compromised information and to identify and mitigate any connected security issues. Our service will resume as soon as we have taken all appropriate steps to secure the MyTopo.com servers.
What you can do
We are notifying you so you can take immediate action to protect your personal information. If you use a common password between MyTopo.com and other websites, please change your password on those websites immediately. Once the MyTopo systems are restored and secured, you will be prompted to create a new password on the MyTopo site.
As a best practice, we recommend that you remain vigilant and promptly report to us and to the proper law enforcement authorities any suspicious activity or suspected identity theft.

Tulsa, Okla. (November 2021) –Adept Armor, an armor system engineering firm, is pleased to announce the Storm body armor system, anchored by the Foundation UHMWPE plate. Unlike standard ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene plates on the market today, Adept Armor’s new Storm: Foundation allows the user to inter-change strike-faces and upgrade from Level III to Level IV with ease.
Designed as a comfortable, all-day wearable 10” x 12” SAPI cut, the Storm: Foundation UHMWPE plate is among the lightest Level III-rated plates in the world, at just 2.4 pounds, and is among the thinnest plates in its category, at 0.9” thick. Special threat tested against mild steel core rounds in 7.62x39mm and 7.62x54mmR, it offers its wearer comprehensive protection from a wide variety of rifle threats, and yet allows for extreme mobility when the situation arises. The plate is resistant to water and can float. It is also resistant to most chemicals, microorganisms, and ultraviolet radiation, thereby extending the life of the plate. Adept Armor’s Storm: Foundation plate is also multi-hit capable, even in the same hit location.
Given its size and weight characteristics, the Storm: Foundation feels effortless to wear — but it is not entirely suitable for all threat environments, as, like all other UHMWPE plates, it won’t reliably stop 5.56x45mm M855. The unique feature of the Adept Armor Modular Storm System is the versatility of the removable strike-faces that allow the user to interchange threat levels based on missions without affecting the performance of the Storm: Foundation plate.
The Storm: Titanium, which is immediately available, is a low-profile titanium plate that can attach to the strike-face of the Foundation plate. When the two are combined, bringing the total thickness to just 1.1” and the weight to 5.5 pounds, it offers protection from high-velocity steel-cored rifle ball threats such as the M855 and 5.45x39mm 7N6. The Storm: Titanium can also be used standalone, as an ultra-low-profile Level IIIA/stab plate.
The Storm: Disruptor is a forthcoming, add-on armor plate, intended for the most extreme threat environments. Made of a toughened ceramic composite, it can combine with the Foundation to upgrade protection to Level IV. And, though it cannot be used as a standalone, it is the first example of a Level IV ceramic strike-face as a modular component part, which can easily and rapidly be replaced if it is damaged due to hard use in the field, or has sustained any impacts that would degrade its capabilities.
The Adept Armor Storm System is, for the first time, body armor that is truly modular and adaptable.

The Caimano Nero is a tactical knife delivered to the G.O.I., Gruppo Operativo Incursori (Operational Raiders Group) of the Italian Navy, and designed by Extrema Ratio, official COMSUBIN supplier.
Its name is a reference and a tribute to the heroic Caimani Neri del Piave (Black Caimans of the Piave river), a unit of the Arditi della Regia Marina (Italian Royal Navy), who used to swim across the Piave river to carry out raids on enemy territory during the First World War.
It is an automatic knife with a 4 mm asymmetrical spearpoint blade and a partial sharp false edge to improve the coefficient of penetration.
The serrated part of the edge allow to cut highly-resistent cables and fabrics without losing its sharpening.
It is a medium folder with a robust structure.
It is light and balanced thanks to numerous removal processes applied to its highly-thick aluminum handle scales.
The pommel, which recalls the shape of the tail/propel section of the Siluro a lenta corsa (S.L.C.), is designed to improve a rapid extraction of the knife from the pocket.
The DLC-coated titanium clip can be positioned in three different angles on both sides to allow maximum customization while wearing it. Its shape is designed to conceal the handle sticking out of the pocket.
The automatic blade release system guarantees a complete opening even in the event of accidental impacts during the opening rotation.
Among its features, it is equipped with an hard-metal glass breaker and a lock, which prevents the blade from dangerously closing by accident.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearm industry trade association, praised the introduction of the bipartisan Outdoor Recreation Act. This legislation, introduced by U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Ranking Member John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), would increase and improve outdoor recreation opportunities across the nation while improving infrastructure and driving economic growth in rural communities.
“The National Shooting Sports Foundation commends Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Sen. Joe Manchin and Ranking Member Sen. John Barrasso for introducing this vitally important outdoor recreation package,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “In particular, NSSF appreciates the bipartisan measures included in this legislation that would require the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to ensure that both agencies have at least one qualifying recreational shooting range in each National Forest and BLM district. Recreational shooting is tied to approximately 85 percent of the Pittman-Robertson excise taxes currently being paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers, making it a major driving contributor to wildlife conservation. This legislation would ensure that recreational marksmanship can be practiced in accessible and safe environments while also benefiting conservation.”
Senator Manchin explained in a press release that the Outdoor Recreation Act would support outdoor recreation economies and provide an economic boost to local communities while preserving public lands for future generations. Sen. Barrasso added that the bill not only establishes public access to shooting ranges on USFS and BLM lands, but also ensures access to public lands and modernizes campgrounds.
Specifically, the legislation would direct the Forest Service to issue guidance for recreational climbing in designated Wilderness Areas and require the Forest Service and BLM to designate many new shooting ranges on National Forests and BLM land.

NSSF Announces ‘Partner with a Payer®’ Web Resource and Video Series
Highlighting Longstanding Conservation Partnerships with Industries, State Agencies and USFWS
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearm industry, has announced an initiative designed to strengthen ties between all excise tax-paying manufacturers—firearms and ammunition, archery equipment, marine and sportfishing equipment—and the state agencies that use these funds to conserve wildlife and habitats through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
NSSF has launched a new web resource that will host videos and other materials that will highlight industry contributions to this partnership. The first video to be unveiled today, November 17, at 12:00 noon ET focuses on the amazing Ben Avery Shooting Range in Arizona, a state-run facility that would not be possible without excise taxes distributed through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration program.
Since 1937 when the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act was enacted (today better known as the Pittman-Robertson Act), the manufacturers of firearms and ammunition have been part of a network consisting of sportsmen and women, state fish and wildlife agencies and USFWS to collect and distribute excise taxes—some $14 billion during this period—on their products for the benefit of wildlife conservation, hunter education and shooting ranges.
“It is an incredible model of conservation funding that benefits all Americans, not just hunters and target shooters, and helps ensure sustainable wildlife and habitat for future generations. Our industry’s contributions to this program are something we’ve long been proud of, and we want the employees of companies and state agencies to be also, which is why we’re proud to be involved with the Partner with a Payer® program,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi.
NSSF recognized that new generations of workers entering industry, state agencies and USFWS will benefit from a better understanding of this public-private partnership. That is why the Partner with a Payer initiative was developed.
Partner with Payer brings together industry and state agency personnel by arranging tours of factory facilities such as those depicted in the video of Patriot Ordnance and Sturm Ruger. “We saw guns being produced, and I saw conservation being produced,” said Cliff Schleusner, Southwest Regional Manager of the USFWS. “The excise taxes on every one of those firearms goes to fund a legacy of conservation in this country that is unequaled.”
Partner with a Payer also arranges for industry employees to see conservation science taking place in the field, such as at black bear research projects. “These connections between industry professionals and state agency scientists and researchers builds long-lasting appreciation for each other’s work and also the funding that makes so much of what we enjoy possible,” said Bartozzi.
There are more videos highlighting additional aspects of this unique public-private partnership that will be added to the site in the weeks to come. The videos were produced by Shine United LLC / Kingdom Filmworks for the National Shooting Sports Foundation through a Multistate Conservation Grant awarded by the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Programs of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Grenoble, France, November 17, 2021 – Lynred, a leading global provider of high-quality infrared detectors for the aerospace, defense and commercial markets, today announces enhanced capabilities across the whole range of its 12 µm infrared detectors, to enable optronics systems to more accurately identify objects in low-contrast scenes. These 12 µm pixel pitch infrared detectors, based on a microbolometer technology, come with enhanced thermal sensitivity, permitting use in limitless applications.
Applications include integration into outdoor leisure equipment for use at dawn or at night. Lynred’s new range of 12µm microbolometers are ideal for enabling optronics systems to deliver the image quality end-users seek to observe nature in early forest mist and in all-weather conditions.

The 12 µm pixel pitch microbolometer is the emerging standard for producing smaller thermal cameras that use space-saving optics. NETD (Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference) is one of several key parameters used to evaluate the image quality of optronics systems and thermal cameras.
With Lynred’s new 12 µm products, customers will benefit from gains in the performance of their NETD lower than 40 or 50mK, depending on the product grade, and other performance criteria: scene dynamics and mechanical robustness.

The hunter in your life will love this optic from Vortex Optics.

- Another excellent choice is Vortex Optics Prism Sight. Early this year, the company introduced the Spitfire HD GEN II 5x prism sight. This compact optic improves on red dot sights by providing outstanding clarity, 5X of magnification with a fully adjustable diopter. The benefit of the prism sight is that if reticle illumination fails, you’ll still be able to use the reticle. Two versions are available, 3X at a retail price of $399 and a 5X version at $449.

- On our recommended list is SIG SAUERS ZULU6 10X30 Image Stabilized binoculars. If you are a boater or do a lot of glassing these are the binoculars you need. Clarity, clarity, clarity is the name of the game with these binos. You won’t have a problem locating the channel marker you need or spotting that rare bird. The Zulu6 is available in 10×30 or 16×42. Retail price varies from $699.99 for the 16×42 model to $599.99 for the 10X30. Just about all of the product ratings have been five stars.

Kansas City, KS (November 16, 2021) – The 600 Series is the next generation of bolt action rifles loaded with premium features. Another common component of great rifles are superior triggers for improved shot-to-shot consistency. Most of the CZ 600 utilize a user-adjustable, single-stage trigger, the trail utilizes a two-stage trigger. The patented trigger adjustment allows users to customize the weight of the trigger pull without removing the chassis from the stock. The customized weight adjustments are selected on a 4-position dial with trigger weights ranging from 1.3 lbs. to 3 lbs., moving over just ½ lb. per click.
Reliability was a vital consideration in the 600 Series’ design. CZ selected the controlled round feed design for round-cycling consistency in all situations. A quiet, 2-position safety compliments this action, allowing a locked or cycling bolt with the safety on. In the field, this type of safety prevents unintentional opening. However, by depressing the bolt release you can still operate the bolt while the safety is engaged.
Shooters will love the 60-degree bolt throw, a design that increases clearance between the bolt and optic, allowing for larger scopes. In addition, it cycles considerably faster than traditional designs. All models use an oversized bolt knob for improved control with gloved hands.
Optional barrel conversion kits offer the ability to change cartridges (within the same-sized action) by swapping barrels, bolt face and magazines, without the need of a gunsmith. This lets shooters use one rifle for a wide range of shooting styles. A detachable magazine allows quick mag changes and secure magazine retention, with an optional locking feature. Magazines are designed to have the ability to be topped off through the ejection port for convenience on most models.
The 600 series rifles include four models: Alpha, Lux, Range and Trail. The 600 Alpha is the versatile hunter’s rifle. Its aluminum receiver and black soft-touch synthetic stock reduce overall weight for field use. It comes chambered in a variety of cartridges from 223 Rem to 300 Win Mag.
Classic wood furniture dresses up the 600 Lux rifle. It includes a steel receiver, wooden stock with Schnabel tip, and an oversized wooden bolt knob. The Lux is chambered for four popular hunting cartridges from 223 Rem to 300 Win Mag.
The 600 Range model is all about accuracy. In addition to the standard 600 series features, these rifles include a steel receiver, heavy barrel and laminate wood stock with a toolless height-adjustable cheekpiece.
The CZ 600 Trail is a super lightweight rifle built with an aluminum receiver, polymer chassis and aluminum forend with an M-LOCK interface. The Trail is chambered in 223 Rem or 7.62×39 and uses AR-15 or Bren 2 magazines. It also features familiar AR-15 controls (safety and mag release).

“I have been amazed at the excitement from people, not only female competitors but also sporting clays competitors all across the board, who are following along with the Winchester Ladies Cup this year,” said Team Winchester’s Desirae Edmunds, who finished third in the full-year points total and also helped shape the structure of the Winchester Ladies Cup. “The Winchester Ladies Cup has succeeded in drawing attention and excitement to the continually growing group of female clay target shooters. These types of opportunities and rewards have never been available for female shooters in this sport before. I am grateful and proud to stand by Winchester and their continued support of our industry.”
Also representing Team Winchester in San Antonio were outstanding shooters Kemble DuPont and Kayla Wilgus.
Female shooters, who have been challenging their male counterparts for decades, had the added incentive in 2021 of competing for the first time for the Winchester Ladies Cup across the span of the NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester. In its inaugural year, the Winchester Ladies Cup came with serious money. The top three shooters at each regional event split $5,000 (with $2,500 going to the champion, $1,500 to the runner-up and $1,000 to the third-place winner) paid out by Winchester. Then, during the grand finale in San Antonio, a $10,000 prize was split among the top three female competitors who headlined the full-season point race. More money. More incentive. More participation.
“A lot of thinking went into the Winchester Ladies Cup, and it started by looking at the current payout structure between the top male shooters and the top female shooters. There was a big difference in their earnings with the payout to the female winners being significantly lower,” said Brett Flaugher, president of Winchester Ammunition. “The Winchester Ladies Cup is an opportunity to add tremendous value to the many female sporting clays shooters across the country — a group of competitors who continue to grow each year and compete at a high level.”
Congratulations to all who participated in the Winchester Ladies Cup season. At the conclusion of the NSCA Nationals, which ended the evening of October 31, 2021, results were tallied and shared.

Hunt with SCI Founder C.J. McElroy’s Rifle
Celebrating 50 years, SCI will auction off a chance to hunt with the rifle belonging to none other than SCI’s late founder C.J. McElroy. When he died in 2002, his hunting rifle was enshrined in a custom display case at SCI’s headquarters in Tucson, Arizona.
While the rifle holds significance because it belonged to the man who founded the country’s most influential hunting group, it also has historical value. The Weatherby Mark V rifle chambered in the company’s flagship cartridge .300 Weatherby Magnum was gifted by Roy Weatherby himself.
Despite the sentiment, the rifle was built for the field. The winning bidder will be invited on a 15-day guided hunt in the Alaskan wild for Alaskan brown bear, black bear, mountain goat, and wolf. When attendees bid, they get not only the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but also a chance to become part of SCI history.

The 50th Anniversary Commemorative Rifle-Pistol Project
At SCI’s 2022 annual convention, attendees will have the chance to win the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Rifle-Pistol Project. The project is a two-year collaboration by custom rifle maker John Bolliger of Mountain Riflery and master engraver Mike Dubber. They plan to unveil and auction off the matching firearms at the annual convention in Las Vegas.
The Idaho-based Mountain Riflery custom rifle will use a Winchester Model 70 action chambered for .300 Winchester Magnum. The rifle will be constructed out of a Turkish walnut stock carved out of a 150-year-old tree.
Dubber will create a custom .45-caliber Colt 1911 to compliment the rifle. He will also engrave both firearms with elaborate scrolling and 24K gold animal vignettes. Plus, the pistol will feature the SCI logo and commemorative information.
“Some of the world’s best craftsmen have dedicated an enormous amount of time and effort to make this project truly special,” Bolliger said.
