Winchester Reigns Supreme at the 2021 NSCA National Championship

EAST ALTON, IL (November 22, 2021) — A fall classic gathered the greats of the shooting sports once again at the state-of-the-art National Shooting Complex for the 2021 National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Championship. This event, which took place October 22-31, was also the final NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester and the Winchester Ladies Cup.
The 2021 NSCA National Championship consisted of 13 events over 10 days, with more than 2,250 registered entrants, including 11 members of Team Winchester.
“Winchester is extremely proud of all the shooters who took part in NSCA events across the country this year,” said Matt Campbell, vice president of sales and marketing at Winchester. “We have put a tremendous amount of effort into supporting the NSCA and the attendees with our brand and our products. Winchester was very active at the National Championship Tour, and our Team Winchester athletes were once again terrific.”

Military Warriors Support Foundation heads to San Pedro Ranch for Epic Deer Hunt

San Antonio, TX– November 23, 2021 While struggling with hot weather and wind, Military Warriors Support Foundation headed to San Pedro Ranch in Carrizo Springs, Texas, with four Heroes on October 26-28, 2021. This was an exciting trip while being surrounded by both beautiful nature and unique history.

San Pedro Ranch has been in the Fitzsimons family since 1932. Its 23,000 acres has many soil types, which means an array of flora and fauna are present. This particular ranch was part of the 1812 Spanish Land Act and the epitome of where a cowboy might work and rest their head. During WWII, parts of this ranch saw use as an aerial gunnery range, and remnants can still be found littering the ground and hills.

Four veterans had the opportunity to hunt this unique land for native whitetail deer. Due to the high heat and the rain this past summer, plenty of naturally-growing food was available for the deer to graze, and the feeders were not as effective as they typically are. Only two of the heroes tagged deer; however, Jonathan Fitzsimons invited the other two back for a future visit to the ranch in the upcoming year.

While this was a hunting trip, the benefits are multi-layered, as with all Skills4Life programs. Hunting these grounds with other veterans offered a chance for camaraderie and story sharing around the campfire and dinner table. Everyone had an opportunity to hear others’ stories of past hunting trips and past experiences while also getting to tell their own stories.

The Fitzsimons family and owners of San Pedro Ranch – along with the Skills4Life program – provided a rare and unique experience for these Heroes. We look forward to continuing to pass these experiences along to more combat-wounded heroes.

Just like everything else firearms related, shotguns have seen a huge boost in popularity over the last two years. Many purchased new ones while others looked to what they already owned to fit their needs. Some had to settle for whatever was available at the time of purchase.
Many of these shotgun owners will be interested in upgrades. If you are working on or planning content on shotguns, Choate Machine and Tool has easy-to-install accessories and components to make scatterguns better for tactical or sporting use.

More (Capacity) Is Better
For tactical shotguns increased capacity is a must, in particular if adapting a sporting shotgun for home defense. Choate is the industry leader in magazine tube extensions. Extensions are available for Benelli, Browning, CZ, Fabarm, Franchi, H&R 1871, Mossberg, Remington, Smith & Wesson, Steven, Stoeger, Weatherby and Winchester!

Light It Up
Choate Machine and Tool manufactures a variety of light and accessory mounting options for shotguns, including the Night Manager. The Night Manager is a magazine tube extension with an aluminum shroud that is drilled and tapped along the bottom and sides for mounting Picatinny rail sections. Its unique design allows the shroud to orient the attached Picatinny rails where needed and then uses an AR-15 castle nut to lock it in the desired location. Mounting accessories on the magazine tube extension allows use of the full length of the shotgun’s forend, which often can be short on law enforcement models. Currently the Night Manager is available for the Remington 870, 1100, 11-87 and also for the H&R Pardner pumps and Hawk 982. For Mossberg shotguns the Night Manager is available for the 500 (no extra shell capacity) 590, 835, 5500 and the 9200 shotguns.

Stock Options
Whether you want to upgrade from wood to the durability of polymer, or are looking for a different configuration entirely, Choate Machine and Tool has stocks to meet every need including folding stocks, less-lethal designated orange stocks, stocks that carry extra ammunition and others. Adding a folding or telescoping stock can be a fantastic upgrade for any home defense shotgun, making it easier to store or easier to adjust for clothing, body armor or the stature of the shooter.

On Friday, November 19, we discovered that the MyTopo.com website had been attacked. Out of an abundance of caution we took our site offline shortly after identifying the security incident.
MyTopo takes the protection of your information very seriously. We are contacting you as a precautionary measure to explain the incident and provide you with steps you can take to protect your personal information.
What information was involved
We believe the attacker may have accessed personal information maintained in your profile on MyTopo.com. This information includes name, email address, billing or shipping address, and MyTopo login password.
The attacker did not access any financial or credit card information since we do not store those details on MyTopo.com servers. The breach is isolated to MyTopo.com and does not impact any other sites or related services, including Terrain Navigator Pro.
When did this happen
The event was identified on November 19 and the services were taken offline within an hour of discovery. Current investigations indicate data may have been compromised as early as November 13.
What we are doing
Our team has been working since the attack was detected to determine the extent of any compromised information and to identify and mitigate any connected security issues. Our service will resume as soon as we have taken all appropriate steps to secure the MyTopo.com servers.
What you can do
We are notifying you so you can take immediate action to protect your personal information. If you use a common password between MyTopo.com and other websites, please change your password on those websites immediately. Tulsa, Okla. (November 2021) –Adept Armor, an armor system engineering firm, is pleased to announce the Storm body armor system, anchored by the Foundation UHMWPE plate. Unlike standard ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene plates on the market today, Adept Armor’s new Storm: Foundation allows the user to inter-change strike-faces and upgrade from Level III to Level IV with ease.

Designed as a comfortable, all-day wearable 10” x 12” SAPI cut, the Storm: Foundation UHMWPE plate is among the lightest Level III-rated plates in the world, at just 2.4 pounds, and is among the thinnest plates in its category, at 0.9” thick. Special threat tested against mild steel core rounds in 7.62x39mm and 7.62x54mmR, it offers its wearer comprehensive protection from a wide variety of rifle threats, and yet allows for extreme mobility when the situation arises. The plate is resistant to water and can float. It is also resistant to most chemicals, microorganisms, and ultraviolet radiation, thereby extending the life of the plate. Adept Armor’s Storm: Foundation plate is also multi-hit capable, even in the same hit location.

Given its size and weight characteristics, the Storm: Foundation feels effortless to wear — but it is not entirely suitable for all threat environments, as, like all other UHMWPE plates, it won’t reliably stop 5.56x45mm M855. The unique feature of the Adept Armor Modular Storm System is the versatility of the removable strike-faces that allow the user to interchange threat levels based on missions without affecting the performance of the Storm: Foundation plate.

The Storm: Titanium, which is immediately available, is a low-profile titanium plate that can attach to the strike-face of the Foundation plate. When the two are combined, bringing the total thickness to just 1.1” and the weight to 5.5 pounds, it offers protection from high-velocity steel-cored rifle ball threats such as the M855 and 5.45x39mm 7N6. The Storm: Titanium can also be used standalone, as an ultra-low-profile Level IIIA/stab plate.

The Storm: Disruptor is a forthcoming, add-on armor plate, intended for the most extreme threat environments. Made of a toughened ceramic composite, it can combine with the Foundation to upgrade protection to Level IV. And, though it cannot be used as a standalone, it is the first example of a Level IV ceramic strike-face as a modular component part, which can easily and rapidly be replaced if it is damaged due to hard use in the field, or has sustained any impacts that would degrade its capabilities.

The Adept Armor Storm System is, for the first time, body armor that is truly modular and adaptable.

The Caimano Nero is a tactical knife delivered to the G.O.I., Gruppo Operativo Incursori (Operational Raiders Group) of the Italian Navy, and designed by Extrema Ratio, official COMSUBIN supplier.

Its name is a reference and a tribute to the heroic Caimani Neri del Piave (Black Caimans of the Piave river), a unit of the Arditi della Regia Marina (Italian Royal Navy), who used to swim across the Piave river to carry out raids on enemy territory during the First World War.

It is an automatic knife with a 4 mm asymmetrical spearpoint blade and a partial sharp false edge to improve the coefficient of penetration.

The serrated part of the edge allow to cut highly-resistent cables and fabrics without losing its sharpening.

It is a medium folder with a robust structure.

It is light and balanced thanks to numerous removal processes applied to its highly-thick aluminum handle scales.

The pommel, which recalls the shape of the tail/propel section of the Siluro a lenta corsa (S.L.C.), is designed to improve a rapid extraction of the knife from the pocket.

The DLC-coated titanium clip can be positioned in three different angles on both sides to allow maximum customization while wearing it. Its shape is designed to conceal the handle sticking out of the pocket.

The automatic blade release system guarantees a complete opening even in the event of accidental impacts during the opening rotation.

Among its features, it is equipped with an hard-metal glass breaker and a lock, which prevents the blade from dangerously closing by accident.

NSSF Praises Senate Bipartisan Outdoor Recreation Act

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearm industry trade association, praised the introduction of the bipartisan Outdoor Recreation Act. This legislation, introduced by U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Ranking Member John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), would increase and improve outdoor recreation opportunities across the nation while improving infrastructure and driving economic growth in rural communities.

“The National Shooting Sports Foundation commends Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Sen. Joe Manchin and Ranking Member Sen. John Barrasso for introducing this vitally important outdoor recreation package,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “In particular, NSSF appreciates the bipartisan measures included in this legislation that would require the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to ensure that both agencies have at least one qualifying recreational shooting range in each National Forest and BLM district. Recreational shooting is tied to approximately 85 percent of the Pittman-Robertson excise taxes currently being paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers, making it a major driving contributor to wildlife conservation. This legislation would ensure that recreational marksmanship can be practiced in accessible and safe environments while also benefiting conservation.”

Senator Manchin explained in a press release that the Outdoor Recreation Act would support outdoor recreation economies and provide an economic boost to local communities while preserving public lands for future generations. Sen. Barrasso added that the bill not only establishes public access to shooting ranges on USFS and BLM lands, but also ensures access to public lands and modernizes campgrounds.

Specifically, the legislation would direct the Forest Service to issue guidance for recreational climbing in designated Wilderness Areas and require the Forest Service and BLM to designate many new shooting ranges on National Forests and BLM land.
