SWEET HOME, Oregon – February 22, 2022 – Visitors to HEVI-Shot booth at the National Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF) 46th Annual Convention and Sport Show, held February 16-20, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee, saw firsthand the turkey load product lines from HEVI-Shot, including HEVI-18 TSS. These shotshells are packed with TSS 18 g/cc density pellets for long-range performance and high pellet count. Hevi-18 TSS Turkey are offered in No. 7 and No. 9 shot sizes for 12 and 20 gauge and .410 bore shotguns.
“TSS shot is an excellent option for turkey hunters, and we are excited to feature it in the new HEVI-18 shotshells,” said Scott Turner, HEVI-Shot’s Product Line Manager. “A great benefit of this load is that hunters have an extremely effective .410 option without sacrificing performance. This allows hunters of all ages and sizes to be able to carry a smaller shotgun without having to second guess the shotshell payload or penetrating power.”
Tungsten Super Shot (TSS) has been a proven performer in the turkey woods. HEVI-18 TSS features an ultra-high pellet density of 18 grams per cubic centimeter, is 56 percent denser than lead, and is harder than steel. The increased pellet density results in an extended lethal range of the payload. For all-weather reliability in semi-automatic shotguns, the shotshells feature a thicker base-wad, hotter primer, and clean-burning propellants.
“With the increased density of TSS, we can feature smaller pellets in our offerings, increasing the pellet count. This results in better pattern densities without sacrificing penetration,” continued Turner. “A No. 9 TSS pellet carries at least as much penetration as a No. 5 lead pellet at the same ranges.”
HEVI-18 TSS Turkey is available in two 3-inch and 3-1/2-inch 12-gauge options in No. 7 or No. 9 shot with charge weights of 2 ounces in 3-inch and 2-1/4 in 3-1/2-inch shotshells. All 12-gauge options feature a 1,250 feet-per-second (FPS) velocity. Two 3-inch 20-gauge options are available in No. 7 or No. 9 shot size with a 1-1/2 ounce charge weight and 1,250 FPS velocity. For those that prefer a .410 bore, a No. 7 and No. 9 shot size will be available in a 3-inch shotshell with a 13/16-ounce charge weight and FPS velocity of 1,090. Each HEVI-18 TSS Turkey is sold in boxes of 5.

SHOT SHOW 2022 – OTIS TECHNOLOGY
OTIS Technology requires no introduction, this Lyons Fall, NY company is the industry standard for weapon cleaning technologies widely used by the Department of Defense, and globally. A woman owned business, with interesting beginnings best told by the video below
Next to the OTIS exhibit was DRD Tactical’s booth, originally Atlanta based, the company was acquired by OTIS on October of 2019. DRD Tactical manufactures some very special firearms and holds two patents, quick barrel change and internal recoil system which allows firing the weapon with the buttstock folded. Founded in 2010, DRD tactical embarked on a project for the Joint Special Operations Program to design a Clandestine Sniper Rifle dubbed PARATUS. The design resulted in a 7.62 platform that could fit in a briefcase.
For OTIS Technology, the acquisition of DRD Tactical was a natural, the company is a dominant force in weapon cleaning systems and lubricants so using its existing manufacturing facilities to incorporate weapon systems made a great deal of sense. While at the DRD booth, I had the opportunity to get an education from Don Halpin, DRD’s lead gunsmith. Today DRD Tactical produces firearms in a variety of calibers to include pistol platforms. These are very high quality and exceptionally accurate platforms for military, law enforcement and commercial customers.

SHOT SHOW 2022–Federal Ammunition
Does the world really need another pistol cartridge? The Federal Ammunition folks think so and in a very gutsy move, launched the 30 Super Carry adding to an expanding Personal Defense line of high-performance ammunition. The new 30 Super Carry cartridge provides the power of the 9mm Luger with comparable felt recoil. The .312-inch diameter projectile carries the same energy as 9mm Luger at the muzzle, with better ballistics than the 380 Auto, and in addition, it can be chambered in smaller easier to conceal handguns once gun manufacturers start to offer guns designed and built specifically for this cartridge. The 30 Super Carry opens the door to a higher capacity smaller frame size than the 9mm but with similar muzzle blast, recoil, and terminal performance, 30 Super Carry offers a decided advantage.
Was Federal Ammunition presumptuous in thinking that firearm manufacturers would retool and introduce a 30 super carry pistol?
I was able to answer that question in a brief conversation with one of the engineers responsible for the 30 super carry project. Concurrent with the development process, Federal Ammunition socialized the concept with firearm manufacturers, and Smith&Wesson jumped onboard introducing 4 models of carry pistols chambered in the 30 Super Carry. Just how many manufacturers will follow suit remains to be seen but Federal’s 30 Super Carry may solve problems that are presently being addressed via magazine extensions or redesigned grips to add capacity.

Rodman’s first competition of the nine-match season will be at the Tactical Games Meridian, held February 19-20 in Meridian, Mississippi.
Outside of competition, Rodman has been a police officer for 15 years in Kokomo, Indiana. Rodman holds the rank of lieutenant and has been a member of the Kokomo SWAT Team for 12 years and a UC drug task force member for seven years. A family man, Rodman also coaches his son’s baseball team and is involved in the Kokomo community.
“The Tactical Games provide an arena where competitors can test their decision making, training, equipment and mental approach,” Rodman said. “The community surrounding the Tactical Games is second to none. Everyone learns from everyone. It’s not often that you find a sport in which a competitor lends advice to another competitor. I believe these athletes help each other because they understand that elevating those around them is one of the most important things in life. Many competitors are servants in their everyday professions, so it’s really no surprise.”
Throughout the season, Rodman will be running Blackhawk T-Series holsters and new Foundation Series Tac Nylon gear, including plater carrier, belt and pouches. Blackhawk’s T-Series holsters with leg straps are optimally designed to maintain proper holster position and security as competitors navigate unconventional obstacles throughout the Tactical Games. “Our team is outfitted with the same T-Series holster, so it’s important to me to maintain a consistent draw between competition and work,” said Rodman. “The T-Series leg strap adapter lets my leg move naturally but still secures the mid-ride holster to my leg when I run.”
Foundation Series Tac Nylon gear gives competitors some of the lightest weight gear in its class without sacrificing durability or modularity, which is critical to maintaining speed and endurance while wearing heavy plater carriers. “On the carrier, the shoulders straps are flat in the chest area, which helps prevent the sling from snagging and allows for good placement of the stock while shooting,” said Rodman. “It’s a minimalist design that allows you to build it for the task at hand.”
Blackhawk will follow Rodman as he competes throughout the Tactical Games, which culminates November 5-6 at the Tactical Games National Championship at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas.
Attendees at the upcoming Tactical Games Meridian will be able visit the Blackhawk booth to check out T-Series holsters and Foundation Series Tac Nylon gear. Based on podium position, winners in each category will have the opportunity to win a Foundation Series gun belt, IFAK pouch and dump pouch, or a Blackhawk holster.

About Stephen Willeford
Sunday morning, November 5, 2017, Willeford was alerted by his daughter that a mass shooting was occurring at the neighboring First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. He wasted no time responding. Grabbing his AR-15 and a handful of rounds, Willeford embodied the “good guy with a gun” persona as he rushed to the church. Shots were ringing in the air, and he knew the harsh truth: each shot represented the life of one of his neighbors. Willeford confronted the shooter without hesitation, shouting as he approached the place of worship to draw the shooter outside. His many hours logged at the gun range and his years of experience in gun safety helped prepare his response.
Twenty-six lives were lost that November morning, and 22 were injured in the tragic shooting. Willeford is the first to say that he stepped in and did what anyone would have done, but it was his unique background and personal beliefs that helped him act so courageously in his effort to save his friends, neighbors, and community. Kansas City, KS (February 16, 2022) – CZ-USA is proud to introduce two new affordable side-by-side purpose-built double guns. Both are an extension of the popular Bobwhite G2 shotgun line: the Bobwhite G2 Intermediate, with dimensions that are a little more compact, and the Bobwhite G2 Southpaw, designed for left-handed shotgunners.
Left-handed shooters always face difficulties when shooting guns cast for right-handed people, but there is a new double gun option from CZ-USA that will make things a bit easier for lefty shotgunners.
CZ is proud to expand its lefty-friendly offerings with the Bobwhite G2 Southpaw side-by-side. Nearly identical to the standard Bobwhite G2, the Southpaw’s stock is “cast on,” meaning it’s bent in the opposite direction so that it will properly fit when a shooter brings it to their left shoulder.
All other popular Bobwhite G2 features remain, including its CNC’d receiver, double triggers, English-style straight grip, and interchangeable choke tubes. It features 28-inch barrels and includes five flush chokes from Cylinder to Full in 12 or 20 gauge with an incredible price point of $709.
In 2019, CZ introduced its first “intermediate” model at the request of Pheasants Forever, the CZ Quail over/under. In 2021, CZ added another affordable mid-sized double gun, this time in a side-by-side configuration as part of the Bobwhite G2 line. The shorter barrel length and length of pull of the Bobwhite G2 Intermediate provide a better fit for teens and shooters of smaller stature. The shorter overall dimensions make for handling tight spaces like hunting woodcock in the northwoods much easier.
The Bobwhite G2 Intermediate has a 26-inch barrel, two inches shorter than the standard model, and a length of pull that is right at 14 inches. Otherwise, it includes all the great features found on the standard model. The new Bobwhite G2 Intermediate is available in 20 gauge only with a suggested retail price of $709.
