EAST ALTON, IL (April 21, 2022) — Registration is now open for the first-ever Winchester Shoot With the Pros event, which will be held June 7-9, 2022. The event will take place at both the Winchester headquarters in East Alton, Illinois, and the famous NILO hunting and shooting preserve in Brighton, Illinois. Both locations are located approximately 40 minutes from downtown St. Louis, Missouri.
The cost to attend this experience is $3,500 per person, with only 18 slots available. The Shoot With the Pros experience includes:
•  Training with six of the most accomplished clay target shooters in the world 
•  An exclusive tour of the Winchester shotshell facility
•  Shooting at legendary NILO and the Winchester trap and skeet facility
• Meals, lodging, ammunition, clay targets and a Winchester gear package

The SIG FURY Hybrid Ammunition (6.8 Common Cartridge), SIG-LMG (XM250), SIG MCX-SPEAR Rifle (XM5) and SIG SLX Suppressors meaningfully advance soldier weapons technology to meet the emerging requirements of the U.S. Army.

The SIG 6.8×51 FURY Hybrid Ammunition uses a patented lightweight metallic case designed to handle pressures higher than conventional ammunition, resulting in dramatically increased velocity and on-target energy in lighter weapons.

EAST ALTON, IL (April 20, 2022) — The U.S. Army Contracting Command has awarded Winchester a significant contract for pistol ammunition that will be manufactured at Winchester’s facilities in Oxford, Mississippi, and East Alton, Illinois.
Winchester® was awarded a contract to manufacture .38 caliber, .45 caliber and 9mm ammunition with a potential value of $145,000,000. Winchester is the largest supplier of small-caliber ammunition to the U.S. Military, and this five-year contract award upholds Winchester’s position as the leading supplier of pistol ammunition to the U.S. Military.

Barrett Releases New Range of Automatic HF Antenna Tuning Units

Barrett Communications is pleased to announce the release of its new range of Automatic HF Antenna Tuners (ATUs). The 4045 Automatic HF Antenna Tuner, the 4049 Automatic Tuning Mobile HF Antenna and the 411 Automatic HF Antenna Tuner have been specifically designed to interface with Barrett 4000 series transceivers.
Available in both black and NATO green, the 4045 ATUs are housed in a compact, rugged Nylon-66 glass-filled casing with a powder-coated stainless-steel base. Suitable for land-mobile, marine and base station installations, this versatile ATU can be optioned with anti-vibration mounting to ensure its suitability for even the toughest of terrain. Equipped with a built-in GPS, the 4045 is suitable for ALE 2G and 3G operations, simplifying the installation of tracking networks. Like all Barrett ATUs, the 4045 typically tunes a frequency in less than 1.5 seconds and tunes from memory – when paired with a Barrett 4000 series transceiver – in less than 100ms.
The 4049 Automatic Tuning Mobile HF Antenna has been designed from the same rugged material as the 4045 but to attach perfectly to a vehicle. The antenna comes standard with a two-section fiberglass whip or can be paired with the Barrett NVIS Whip antenna which can greatly improve communications in hilly or mountainous terrain. The Integrated Anti-vibration mounting system and integrated GPS come as standard for this model.
With an aluminum base rather than stainless steel, the 411 ATU enters the market at a lower price point. Although it does not have the in-built GPS capability of the 4045, the 411 is perfect for the professional, amateur or hobbyist markets, lending itself to bespoke installations with OEM transceivers.
All Barrett ATUs provide continuous coverage over 1.5 to 30MHz, subject to wire or whip antenna length, and full 150 W PEP (digital, voice and data) performance.

NDIA is accepting nominations for the two Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Division Awards for presentation at the 2022 CBRN Defense Conference and Exhibition on July 26 – 28, 2022 in Baltimore, MD.

Honorary William C. Baugh CBRN Defense Excellence Award

The Honorary William C. Baugh CBRN Defense Excellence Award recognizes an individual who has made the greatest overall contribution to CBRN defense programs during their lifetime. Achievements for which this award will be considered may relate to any of the many components that make up this highly diverse, complex, vital commodity:

Research and development through the acquisition of capabilities needed by the warfighters and first responders;
Identification of ever-growing threats; or
Innovation in training for the current, or future fight and identifying readiness initiatives for business opportunities.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

The CBRN planning team is monitoring the COVID-19 situation as the health of our event participants, members, and partners remains our top priority. We are committed to following the guidelines and precautions as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the venue. Attendees should adhere to the following at the conference:

PROOF OF VACCINATION: All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arriving onsite for badge pick-up. Details for securely providing documentation will be provided shortly on the event website.
MASKS: NDIA follows CDC and state guidelines. Currently, it is recommended that fully vaccinated attendees wear a mask indoors, but they may choose not to. All attendees that are not fully vaccinated or do not wish to disclose that information will be required to wear face masks. Please plan and bring your own face mask. A very limited supply of disposable masks will be available onsite.
WAIVER: All registrants are required to sign NDIA’s COVID-19 waiver during the online registration process. Attendees may disclose their vaccination status at the time of signing.
SOCIAL DISTANCING: Additional venue space will be available to allow for attendees to spread out.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE: Food and beverage areas will be designed to minimize touchpoints utilizing individually packaged or attended stations.

NEWINGTON, N.H., (April 19, 2022) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is honored to announce the conclusion of the Fourth Annual SIG Relentless Warrior Championship.  On Saturday, April 9, 2022, over eighty cadets from the United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy, United States Coast Guard Academy, United States Military Academy at West Point, Texas A & M, Virginia Military Institute (VMI), Virginia Tech and the Royal Military College of Canada competed in the SIG Relentless Warrior Championship at the SIG SAUER Academy in Epping, New Hampshire.  The course of fire consisted of six mission stages that tested the marksmanship and leadership skills of our future military leaders.  The U.S. Military Academy at West Point Combat Weapons Team defended their title to earn the honor of 2022 SIG Relentless Warrior Champion.

“The SIG Relentless Warrior Championship is the highlight of the season for West Point’s Combat Weapons Team, as it is the ultimate test of our Cadets’ abilities to problem solve, plan, and test their training and shooting skills against some of the best collegiate-level combat weapons shooters in the nation,” explained Lieutenant Colonel Charles Faint, the Team’s Officer in Charge (OIC). “This was an exceptional win for the Team and validates our program’s focus on developing our Cadets to be the best leaders, shooters, and warriors that they can be.”

Apex Issues Mandatory Safety Recall of Apex Trigger Kits for Slim Frame Glocks Assembled with Apex Manufactured Trigger Bar

PEORIA, Ariz. – Apex Tactical Specialties announces a mandatory recall of a limited number of Apex Action Enhancement Kits, for the Slim Frame Glock pistols (G43, G43X, G48), sold between October 2021 through March 2022. These specific kits are assembled with an Apex in-house manufactured trigger bar – NOT a Glock factory trigger bar – and were sold through Apex’s dealer and distributor network.
Apex has identified an issue with the Apex trigger bar where under certain circumstances the dimensions of the trigger bar are out of spec resulting in a failure to reset the trigger.
Apex is instructing customers to discontinue the use of these trigger kits, part numbers 102-117 (Black) and 102-157 (Red), and visit ApexTactical.com for details and instructions on how to return the affected kits for replacement.
Please note that Apex kits assembled with a Glock made factory trigger bar and sold prior to the identified timeframe are NOT at issue and not subject to the recall. Apex’s ‘No Bar’ kits, part numbers 102-114 and 102-154, are also NOT at issue.

Hatsan’s Customizable Competition PCP Rifle – Factor RC

Bentonville, AR (April 19th, 2022) – HatsanUSA® is proud to introduce a new competition PCP air rifle. The Hatsan Factor RC is an all-new platform designed with competition and customization in mind. Available in .177, .22, and .25 calibers, it can be fine-tuned and tailored to various competitions and shooting styles. Among its many features is the ability to accept commercially available pistol grips and buttstocks made for modern sporting rifles and a reversible cocking lever for ambidextrous operation.

You’ll find that the ergonomic pistol grip is covered in a soft, durable rubber and is textured to provide maximum grip and control. The 5-position telescoping buttstock also features an elevation adjustable cheek rest that can be moved in 5mm increments up to 40mm tall, or it can be removed for low-profile optics. Hatsan’s famous fully adjustable Quattro Trigger now includes a trigger pad that can be moved vertically and rotated left or right for maximum precision and comfort.

The Factor RC’s power output is also highly adjustable, featuring an externally adjustable pressure regulator with its own output pressure gauge. A power level knob controls the amount of air transferred into the barrel. On the opposite side, a hammer preload adjuster helps fine-tune power output and cocking effort and features a removable 580cc carbon fiber air tank. The Factor RC is also equipped with a Foster-style quick-disconnect fill inlet. In place of the normal fill nozzle, an extended QD is included. An integrated color-coded manometer allows the system pressure to be easily monitored at a glance.

The 23-inch-long precision rifled and choked barrel will ensure accuracy, while Hatsan’s QuietEnergy technology full-length barrel shroud will reduce noise output. A standard ½” UNF threaded muzzle piece is included to allow a larger sound moderator or air stripper to be added without modifications. To round out the Factor RC’s features, 2 high-capacity SwingLoad magazines (that can be linked together to facilitate faster mag changes) and a single shot tray for precision loading are included, a picatinny rail installed beneath the forearm, along with a combination optic system that will accept Picatinny, Weaver, and 11mm dovetail mounts.

Building on over four decades of success with the original Concealable, the 2.0 version is updated for 21st century gun carriers. Cut low at the front, the new design accommodates most popular carry-style red dot optics. The raised sweat guard protects the wearer’s body from the pistol, and the pistol from the body’s natural perspiration. A mild butt-forward cant offers an easy draw from behind the dominant-side hip while also enhancing concealment with larger defensive pistols.

The Concealable 2.0’s unique two-piece construction is contoured on the body side to the natural curve of the hip, keeping all the molding on the front of the holster, allowing for significantly more comfortable carry and a narrower profile than an ordinary pancake type holster. Hand-molded to fit specific handguns, the Concealable 2.0 features a deeply hand-molded exterior for excellent retention properties and superior appearance, firing grip accessibility for speed, and double-stitched seams for long-lasting durability.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — “Tried and true and proven.” That’s the take-home message of a new Partner with a Payer video® that highlights the success of the Sport Fish Restoration Act in South Carolina.

This latest release features representatives from Z-Man Fishing Products, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), American Sportfishing Association (ASA), and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program (WSFR).

The video is a culmination of a Z-Man Fishing Products factory tour and a field tour hosted by SCDNR. Industry and conservation representatives speak to the irreplaceable industry-paid excise taxes that yield science-based fisheries management and increased angler-boater access.

Enacted in 1950, the Sport Fish Restoration Act (also known as the Dingell-Johnson Act), collects a 10-percent tax on select fishing tackle from manufacturers and a percentage of tax on motorboat fuels. The money is apportioned to the state fish and wildlife management agencies under the auspices of WSFR for the benefit of fisheries conservation and restoration, aquatic education, and boating and fishing access.

Paul Wilkes, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Southeast Region Regional Manager for the WSFR program, said the 72-year-old partnership between the tackle industry and state fish and wildlife management agencies has been transformational for fisheries management—and, in short, made fishing better.

Glenn Hughes, President of the ASA, describes opportunities for anglers that would not be possible without these critically important funds. Among other purposes, these funds pay for the maintenance of over 6,000 boating access sites to lakes, rivers, ponds and streams across the country, as well as the stocking of 1.3 billion fish each year of over 70 species of fish.

The Partner with a Payer initiative was developed to help generations of employees in the firearm, archery and angling industries, state agencies and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to better understand their, and each other’s, roles in conservation.

RAFAEL’s High-Power Laser Air Defense System “Iron Beam” Successfully Completes Series of Live Tests

April 14, 2022: RAFAEL, alongside the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) have successfully completed a series of ground-breaking tests with a high-power laser interception system against steep-track threats. The demonstrator successfully intercepted UAVs, mortars, rockets, and anti-tank missiles in various scenarios.

RAFAEL’s Iron Beam provides Israel with a capability unlike one seen elsewhere in the world by successfully developing a high-power laser technology at an operational standard with operational interception capabilities.  The tests are the first phase of a multi-year program led by the DDR&D and defense industries. The program aims to develop a high-power ground and aerial laser system equipped to deal with long-range, high-intensity threats. The laser will complement the “Iron Dome” system and will be an effective and economically efficient addition to Israel’s multi-tiered air defense array. The system’s development plan is led by the Research and Development Division in the Ministry of Defense’s DDR&D.

In Federal’s early years, shotshells were the heart of the lineup. Target loads went by many names and had many looks over the decades, from Hi-Power and Monarch to Reliable and Champion, and many more. There are four different retro packaging designs to be released throughout 2022. These shells are offered in 12 gauge, shot size No. 8 in 25-count boxes.

The QD system allows men, women, and children of all experience levels to be successful turkey hunters. The QD42 provides control, maneuverability, and stability by allowing and maintaining a proper shooting position, unlike other shooting sticks. Trying to hold the gun up with only a hand while staying motionless to prevent being spotted by excellent turkey eyesight is virtually impossible for any hunter.

When turkey hunting, frequently, there is a need to move, and that is where the QD comes in handy. “QD” stands for “quick-detach,” and simply press the button in the yoke center to open the QD mechanism and release the button to close it. On or off requires only seconds. This allows a hunter to quickly get up, and the QD42 extends from 14- to 42-inches in length.

The QD42 gives turkey hunters an advantage when a gobbler is slightly out of shooting range, while the hunter must stay in position for an extended period. Typically, the fatigue would sit in, causing the hunter to lower the gun or create unnecessary movement. This tiredness does not occur when using the QD42.

Having the gun in a shooting position allows the hunter to use their hands when a gobbler is approaching. When a tom hangs up slightly out of range, the hunter may need to make one more call to lure him closer. When using the QD42, the hands remain free to make a couple more yelps on a box call or create soft purrs on a slate call. When the gobblers commit, move back on the gun and already be in the position to make the shot.
