SOFIC 2022–ISOF Capabilities Demonstration

SOF operators from eleven countries wowed a large audience with a variety of excercises performed while conducting a rescue and extraction of a dignitary captured by hostile forces. SOF operators performed air, sea and ground assaults. In the video we see two Special Operations Craft – Riverine boats enter the area of operations firing their GAU-17 miniguns and other armaments.

CAA USA To Offer MCK Rifle Line Up

The overwhelming success of the CAA USA MCK (Micro Conversion Kit) which takes popular handguns to the next level, has contributed to a natural evolution for CAA USA.

Pompano Beach, FL. (May 2022) – CAA USA designers, and developers of the world-famous MCK/Micro Conversion Kit, have decided to move into the gun manufacturing world utilizing the same MCK “look” that hundreds of thousands of customers have become accustomed to.

The new rifle line-up has been in the design and R&D phase for some time, as LTC. (Ret.) Mikey Hartman described the new products. “If it was not for all our loyal, distributors, retailers, and end-users, this dream of a complete rifle system, based on the design principles of our MCK line, would not be possible. Design, tooling, and testing is an expensive endeavor, and it’s with tremendous appreciation for our customers’ passion for the MCK line, that we have been able to move forward with this project.”

The new rifle is based on the ergonomic design of the original MCK. Three models will be the first released between 2022 and 2023. A 16-inch barrel and 10-inch with a welded faux suppressor and a 10-inch NFA model will be offered. The 9mm and 10mm rifles are built on a blowback system, and the .223 will be a traditional gas operating system. The 9mm and 10mm models will be the first available in 2022.

The MCK 9mm and 10mm rifles will both accept GLOCK magazines and feature a spare magazine holder. A full-length top Picatinny rail provides plenty of room for optics, and two sides Picatinny rails for lights, lasers, and additional accessories. The folding stock folds left or right for ambidextrous storage and transportation. All three models are expected to retail for under $900.00.

In preparation for the end-of-year launch, CAA USA is asking for help from their valued customers in naming the new rifles in the CAA USA “Name Our Rifle Giveaway”. The winner of each of the officially accepted names for the 9mm, 10mm, and .223 will receive, respectively, the first of each new model as an award for the winning name.

“We used to think we know it all, but the past few years have taught us very clearly that our fan base can and does contribute to our R&D decisions. We have become better because of them”, LTC. (Ret.) Hartman continued. “That is why we are excited to again have our customers participate in the official naming of our new rifles. We are looking forward to seeing what they come up with.”

“GSMSG was the first US surgical team to arrive in Ukraine when the conflict broke out, and we are still present and supporting our Ukrainian partners,” Dr. Epstein explained. “In nearly two months, we have trained hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers in tactical combat casualty care, along with over 4,000 civilians. In addition, we also provide train-the-trainer programs to further the instruction in other Ukrainian communities. To date, we have trained more Ukrainian troops and civilians, than any other international organization.”

In addition to providing medical training, GSMSG has also provided Ukrainian EMS command with procedures for mass decontamination in case of a chemical weapons incident, and translated the US Army tactical combat casualty care (TCCC) All Service Members (ASM) course into native Ukrainian and distributed to the Ukrainian forces and population.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF®, the firearm industry trade association, launched a social media campaign, called #ThanksLEO, to show support of the law enforcement community during Police Week 2022.

“The firearm and ammunition industry is extremely grateful to the law enforcement community and the work they do every day to keep our communities safe,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President and CEO. “We are proud to partner with law enforcement in our ‘Real Solutions. Safer Communities’ efforts to work together to make a positive difference in communities across this great country. That’s why NSSF kicked off our #ThanksLEO social media campaign and encourages everyone to participate in thanking our law enforcement community for the work they do each and every day to protect and serve our communities.”

The #ThanksLEO campaign allows people across the country to get involved this Police Week by posting pictures of “thank you” cards to law enforcement for their communities and connections to see. NSSF is working with Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops to create “thank you” cards, as well as paid promotion on social media to raise awareness.

Project ChildSafe® is a partnership with over 15,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states and five U.S. territories to provide free firearm education and safe storage kits for police to distribute in their communities. This partnership has resulted in over 40 million free firearm safety kits distributed in the more than two decades of this cooperative partnership.

Part of this effort includes helping ATF to educate firearm retailers to spot signs of a potential straw purchase to stop the illegal attempt in its tracks.

Operation Secure Store® is also an ATF and DOJ partnership. This effort assists firearm retailers in improving security at their store locations to deter and prevent burglaries and robberies. As part of this program, NSSF matches ATF reward offers if a firearm is stolen to recover those stolen firearms and bring those criminals to justice.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, reminds outdoor recreationists, including target shooters and hunters, to take precautions so they don’t accidentally ignite a wildfire.

NSSF’s “Help Prevent Wildfires” public service announcements campaign provides video and audio PSAs, an 8.5 x 11 poster, an infographic and shareable social media posts that remind recreational shooters and other outdoor enthusiasts to be mindful of their surroundings and to take precautions, such as:

  • · Being aware of restrictions on shooting and other activities in fire-prone areas
  • · Not using tracer rounds, exploding targets or ammunition that is steel-jacketed or contains steel-core components
  • · Knowing that a vehicle’s hot exhaust systems can ignite dry vegetation
  • · Making sure all campfires and smoking materials are properly extinguished

There were 58,985 wildfires in 2021 that burned 7.1 million acres of land throughout the country, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. These fires caused billions of dollars in damage along with hardship for both people and wildlife. Wildfires are tragic in many ways, including that in most cases they can be prevented when people pay attention to their surroundings and follow safe practices. Some 90 percent of wildland fires in the United States are caused by human actions.

“After seeing the terrible destruction and heartbreak wildfires can cause, no one would want to accidentally be the cause of one,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “As gun owners, we care about safeguarding our communities and our natural resources, and so we remind everyone to check the fire-danger levels in their area and take precautions before heading outdoors to pursue our warm-weather activities, including recreational shooting.”

NSSF encourages individuals and organizations to share the “Help Prevent Wildfires” public service announcements and infographic on their social media networks and to use the #GunOwnersCare hashtag.

Slovenia procures 45 BOXER vehicles
The Slovenian government, represented by the European procurement organization OCCAR, and ARTEC, a consortium of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, have signed a contract for the delivery of 45 BOXER wheeled vehicles in four different variants.
The volume of the order amounts to EUR 281.5 million. Delivery of the BOXER vehicles is scheduled to begin in 2024 and be completed in 2026.
Now that EU and NATO member Slovenia has joined the BOXER program, it has six user states.
Modular vehicle – versatile and proven in operation
The BOXER is a highly protected 8×8 wheeled vehicle. Its modular architecture allows a diversity of variants like no other vehicle system. So far, approximately 1,500 vehicles in twenty different versions are under contract in the four NATO member states Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the United Kingdom. NATO partner state Australia has opted for the BOXER as well.


ARTEC GmbH was founded in 1999 and is a joint venture between Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG, Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH and Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. The company coordinates series production and serves as the point of contact for all export issues relating to the BOXER.

NEW LINE EXTENSION OF POPULAR VARIABLE POWERED THERMAL IMAGER– INFIRAY OUTDOOR ZH50 – NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH iRAYUSA

Fort Worth, TX (May 12, 2022) – iRayUSA, a Texas-based designer, manufacturer, and distributor of premium thermal night vision devices, is proud to announce a line extension of the popular ZOOM Series with the addition of the ZH50. InfiRay Outdoor’s latest offering, the ZOOM ZH50, brings exciting innovation to the commercial thermal market; 4X variable optical zoom lens, an algorithm based shutterless non-uniformity correction feature and a 20X magnification eyepiece with full HD 1440×1080 resolution AMOLED display.
The ZH50 features InfiRay’s patented dual-field-of-view design allowing users to seamlessly switch between a wide field of view (FOV) for detection, and a narrow FOV for target identification. The ZH50 transitions optically from a base 2X magnification to 4X with an intuitive twist of the objective focus ring and maintains 100 percent of the sensor’s native 640×512 resolution.
The ZOOM Series offers a software based non-uniformity correction (NUC) feature. Unlike standard non-uniformity correction, which uses a shutter or lens cap, the ZOOM Series features InfiRay’s shutterless NUC algorithm, which is completely silent, requires no user input and allows for unmatched battery life.
The ZOOM Series also features an AMOLED viewing display in full HD 1440×1080 resolution to provide the most clarity possible. Additionally, images and live video can be transferred wirelessly via the ultra-fast InfiRay Outdoor app or can be recorded onboard with the ZOOM’s 32gb of internal storage.
“The ZH50 offers increased optical magnification with a larger objective lens, while still maintaining a seamless full-resolution transition from a wide field-of-view to a narrow field-of-view” stated Angelo Brewer, Director of Operations, iRayUSA. “The wide field-of-view of the ZOOM is ideal for detection and the narrow field-of-view is perfect for target identification” continued Brewer.
In addition to the ZOOM’s combination of sensor performance, optical magnification, display resolution, and battery life; other features include multiple color options, picture in picture mode, digital zoom, hot spot tracking, and stadiametric range finding.
The new ZOOM ZH50 will be available for purchase through the authorized iRayUSA dealer network the first week of July, and has a suggested price point of $4,499. As with all iRayUSA products, the ZOOM Series thermal imagers come with a 5-year warranty and a 1-week turnaround process. AEROSPIKE is a state-of-the-art, next generation EO/IR SOPGM  system, designed to meet the needs of complex modern warfare. It is light-weight, high precision (CEP ≤ 3 ft), and offers an significant stand-off range of 30 km, all within a contested environment, independent of GPS.

The SIG SAUER CROSS-PRS features a precision free-floating 24” stainless heavy contour 5R barrel fitted to a one-piece aluminum receiver, a steel frame fully adjustable folding stock, a two-piece free floating M-LOK™ handguard that comes equipped with a steel arca rail for quick and easy attachment of bipods in a Cerakote Elite Concrete finish.  Additional features include a two-stage match-grade trigger that can be adjusted from 2.5 to 4.5lbs, forward angle PRS style grips, thumb rest selector, and an ambidextrous paddle magazine release.  The CROSS-PRS is available in 6.5 Creedmoor and 308 Win, ships with (2) AICS pattern magazines and is optimized for use with the SIG SLH Suppressors and SIERRA6BDX Riflescopes.

Rylander and DeProspero Award Nominations are Open!

NDIA’s Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Division (SO/LIC) is accepting nominations for the R. Lynn Rylander Award and the DeProspero Lifetime Achievement Award. We invite you to consider and nominate a high-performing colleague, mentor, or leader for one of these prestigious awards.

The R. Lynn Rylander Award is presented annually to an individual who has made distinctive contributions in the areas of Special Operations, Low-Intensity Conflict, or Irregular Warfare. Achievements may be singular or cumulative. However, in the spirit of R. Lynn Rylander’s service, the policy, guidance, leadership, or mission contributions must have been consequential – highly significant and lasting – to the SO/LIC community. The nominee’s contributions should also show support of the goals and objectives of NDIA and the SO/LIC Division as a cooperative open forum between government and industry.

The DeProspero Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes sustained, distinguished service and is presented annually to an individual who has made distinctive lifetime contributions with significant impact in the areas of Special Operations, Low Intensity Conflict, or Irregular Warfare.

The SIG MCX-SPEAR rifle is an adaptable multi-caliber rifle featuring rear and side non-reciprocating charging handles, 6-position folding stock, ambidextrous fire control, bolt-catch, and mag release, 2-stage match trigger, 2-position adjustable gas piston, a lightened free-float M-LOK™ handguard, a full-length picatinny rail, and ships with (1) 20-round magazine.

The SIG SAUER SLX Series of suppressors are designed to drastically reduce toxic fume inhalation by the end-user and sound reduction.  The SLX suppressors feature a monolithic core construction in Inconel, an internal multi-flow path to exhaust gases at a higher rate resulting in lower toxic fume inhalation, a sound-reducing baffle design, a flash reducing end cap, and are available with either the new Clutch-Lock QD mounting system for easy install and removal that offers an intuitive tactile locking ring with infinite radial locking positions or direct thread.

Grand Island, NE (May 12, 2022) – The Hornady Security® Wireless Hygrometer monitors temperature and humidity in real-time, all without opening the gun safe. In hot and humid conditions, firearms and ammo oxidize and degrade quickly, so monitoring their storage environment is critical. The Wireless Hygrometer makes this necessary task easy and convenient.

The wireless hygrometer employs a remote sensor inside the safe, vault or room. It measures temperature and humidity data, transmitting it to an external base display. Wireless technology eliminates the need to open the container and check the storage environment, preventing temperature and humidity spikes from the outside air.

The display features a large touchscreen that shows current high/low data from both the base and remote units in Fahrenheit or Celsius. Locating the base display in an accessible spot provides convenience and peace of mind, knowing at a glance if the safe’s contents are cool and dry—optimum storage conditions.

While the sensor works inside any space, its unique design snaps perfectly into the Hornady® Square-Lok™ system for a quick mounting option inside a compatible Hornady Security container.
