Tasmanian Tiger® Introduces Three New Modular and Multipurpose Products to its Tactical Accessories Line

Now Available to the U.S. market, Tasmanian Tiger® unveils the TT Multipurpose Equipment Insert, the TT Modular Equipment Case, and the TT Modular Laptop Case.

Knoxville, Tenn. (February 2023) – Tasmanian Tiger®, a tactical nylon line of products distributed exclusively for the US market by Proforce Equipment, Inc., is pleased to introduce three new products to the U.S. market from its tactical accessories line: the TT Multipurpose Equipment Insert, the TT Modular Equipment Case, and the TT Modular Laptop Case. These products will be available for purchase through TT Authorized Dealers.

  • The TT Multipurpose Equipment Insert is a padded inner bag with flexible dividers, suitable for the TT Modular Pack 45+. The main compartment features a lockable slider. It has a padded, zip-off front lid with a top handle. There is an external second opening for a camera on the top side. It also features transparent mesh interior compartments and a small organizer. With the hook and loop strips on the outside, it can be fixed precisely to modular hook and loop panels. The loops on the upper edge can be used to attach the insert to all MOLLE panels or the TT Modular Front Seat Panel with TT SE 256 Safety QA Buckles.
  • The TT Multipurpose Equipment Insert weighs 2.78 lbs. (1.26 kg.) and measures 12.5” H x 16” W x 6” D. It is made from T-Square Rip FD. Available in Olive, Black, and Titan Grey for an MSRP of $239.
  • The  TT Modular Equipment Case is an all-around padded shoulder bag with a 15-liter volume. It is versatile and can be used as a weapon bag, equipment bag, or camera bag. It features a MOLLE hook and loop panel on the inside, as well as flexible, padded dividers. The separate, width-adjustable laptop compartment (suitable for up to 12” laptops) can also be used as a weapons compartment. The flap is secured with hook-and-loop and quick-release fasteners. An extra zipper allows quick access from the top.
  • It also features detachable shoulder padding, rubberized on the underside, as well as a size-adjustable carrying strap. The TT Modular Equipment Case has a durable, reinforced handle and a mesh pocket on the inside of the lid. The case features a MOLLE system for attachment of a holster, magazine pockets, etc. under the lid.
  • The TT Modular Equipment Case weighs 2.78 lbs. (1.26 kg.) and measures 15.35” H x 10” W x 6” D (39 H x 25 W x 15 D cm). It is made from Cordura® 700 den and T-Square Rip FD. Available in Coyote, Black, and Titan Grey for an MSRP of $239.
  • The TT Modular Laptop Case is part of the TT Tac Series. It is a functional laptop bag suitable for security personnel or civilian use. The pouch has removable hook and loop attachments on the back side so that it can be attached to modular backpacks and bags. There is a padded 15.4” laptop compartment, a durable, reinforced handle, and a flap with hook and loop closure.
  • The TT Modular Laptop Case weighs 14.46 oz. (410 g.) and measures 9.8” H x 15” W x 1.57” D (25 H x 38 W x 4 D cm). It is made from Cordura® 700 den. Available in Black and Olive for an MSRP of $69.95.

Firearm Industry Committed to Veteran Suicide Prevention Ahead of State of the Union Speech

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is committed to reducing suicide – particularly suicide of America’s military veterans – that will be highlighted as part of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union to the nation tonight.

The White House released a Vision to Advance Progress on Unity Agenda in Year Ahead, which underscored the Biden administration’s pledge to reduce veteran suicides. This is a topic upon which the firearm industry is in agreement and is diligently working in complementary efforts to reduce the instances of veteran suicide.

NSSF, on behalf of the firearm industry, launched a partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in 2016, to confront and reduce these tragedies. The firearm industry recognizes that about 55 percent of firearm deaths are suicides and preventing access to lethal means is a crucial factor in reducing this figure. Keeping firearms securely stored puts space between the period of risk and the means to act, and sometimes that space can help save a life.

The firearm industry’s Project ChildSafe® fulfills a vital role in this effort to ensure firearms are inaccessible to those who should not possess them, including unsupervised children, prohibited individuals and those who may be suffering a mental health crisis. NSSF has partnered with 15,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states and five U.S. territories to distribute over 40 million free firearm safety kits, which include firearm locking devices. NSSF encourages all gun owners to secure firearms when not in use to prevent them from being accessible to those who cannot be trusted to possess them.

That partnership with AFSP was extended to include the Department of Veterans Affairs and resulted in a Secure Firearm Storage Toolkit designed to help prevent suicide among U.S. Veterans. The toolkit guides communities through the process of building coalitions to raise awareness about securely storing firearms when not in use.

NSSF is devoted to this goal of reducing suicide, especially to those who have served to protect our nation’s freedoms. That is why NSSF supported portions of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act that invested resources into mental health, including youth and school-based health services.

Common to many ESCORT semi-automatic shotguns, the PS Turkey Hunter features Hatsan’s FAST Loading System and Smart Valve Piston technologies. The FAST Loading System enables faster and easier loading with one hand and without the need to change shooting position. The loading button acts as both a carrier latch release for loading and the bolt release when the bolt is locked back. This gun’s Smart Valve Piston will cycle 7/8 oz, 2 ¾ in. all the way up to 3 in. full magnum loads, credited to its self-regulating design. This patented design is so reliable that one can mix heavy and light loads in the same magazine without a hiccup.

The PS Turkey Hunter is available in two camo patterns: RealTree® Timber and Mossy Oak® BottomLand. Each gun ships with 3 interchangeable chokes suitable for a variety of turkey hunting situations. A 5 in. long cantilever optics rail features 4 cross-slots to accommodate a variety of Weaver mounts. The gun is also equipped with bright fiber optic front and rear sights for low-light hunting. The red front fiber is windage adjustable while the rear green fiber sight is both windage and elevation adjustable. Both fibers can be removed entirely to make way for mounted optics. All Hatsan’s barrels are hard chrome-lined for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. Safety is a significant concern for any firearm, so a manual cross-button safety is built in. Mounted sling studs make for easy carry and firing support.

Barrett 2023 Training Courses

THE BARRETT 2023 TRAINING SCHEDULE IS FILLING UP

Barrett’s training department is ready to take you to the next level. Learn the intricacies of long-range shooting and maintain your Barrett rifles at an armorer level. Offering shooting courses at locations around the country, as well as armorer courses at the Murfreesboro, Tennessee, factory, Barrett has the course to fit your large-caliber training needs.  Courses are only available with use of a personal or rented Barrett firearm.

Please make plans to purchase ammo ahead of time as we are not able to source ammo for each student.  Rental rifles from Barrett still include ammo. If you are planning to ship your ammo to the training facility please make sure it’s scheduled to arrive at least 3 days in advance.  Additional accessories such as cleaning supplies, shooting mats, drag bags, accessory rails, bag riders & rear bags are also available though Barrett and should be secured as needed prior to the course start.

LONG RANGE 50
A 3 1/2 day course for .50 BMG and .416 Barrett calibers only that teaches shooters the fundamentals of marksmanship and introduces components of successful long range shooting including wind estimation, ballistics, and data collection. Long Range 50 is a learning experience for both the new and experienced shooters at distances up to 1000 yards.

Dear Valued Cooper Customers,

I know that there are questions following the announcement of Nighthawk Custom’s acquisition of Cooper Firearms of Montana. I hope this will clarify the current state of Cooper.
The backstory:
Nighthawk Custom was contacted by Cooper the week before Thanksgiving to see if we were interested in purchasing Cooper Firearms of Montana. This acquisition happened very quickly. It was not a scenario that had been in the works for a long period of time.
By the first week of December, a fact-finding team from Nighthawk Custom went to Montana to research the opportunity. After analysis and discussion, an asset purchase deal was made. By December 9th, a second group from Nighthawk Custom traveled to Montana to inventory, load six semi-trucks, and move everything to Arkansas.
This asset purchase includes the Cooper name, the intellectual properties/drawings, tools, and all inventory. We did not purchase any of their CNC machines; however, we have ordered new machines and are currently waiting on them to be delivered. To summarize, we are completely rebuilding Cooper Rifles from the ground up in Arkansas and plan to be operational in late 2023.
In the meantime, we are working on hiring some of the existing Cooper staff that will move to Arkansas and begin rebuilding Cooper, as Cooper Rifles of Arkansas. I know a lot of you have questions about existing orders, warranties, and other things. I ask for your patience and hope you can understand that this happened quickly and is a process. We want to make sure that this is completely planned out, so that we can take the best care of you all going forward.

Two State Suppressor Bans Introduced!

Virginia & New Mexico Introduce Legislation to Ban Suppressors!

As state legislatures across the country convene for the 2023 session, ASA is already working to defend against statewide suppressor bans in two states – Virginia and New Mexico. If this feels like deja vu, that’s because ASA already helped successfully defended against a ban in Virginia in 2019-2020. We stand ready to defend your right to own and use suppressors again in 2023!
In New Mexico, Sen. William P. Soules (D-37), has introduced SB 171, which would outright ban the “manufacture, sale, barter, trade, gift, transfer or acquisition of… mufflers, silencers or devices for deadening or muffling the sound of discharged firearms.” ASA will be in Santa Fe on Monday, February 6th, to testify in opposition to this bill in the Senate Health and Public Affairs Committee.
In Virginia, Del. Dan Helmer (D-40), introduced HB 2240, “prohibiting the sale, transport, etc., of assault firearms, large-capacity firearm magazines, and silencers.” ASA testified in opposition to the bill on Thursday, January 26th, and the House Public Safety Sub-Committee voted 6-4 to “pass by” or table the bill indefinitely.
Make no mistake, ASA will remain steadfast in combating any attempt to ban, confiscate, or further regulate suppressors at the state and federal levels.

SAAMI Releases Update of Ammunition Standards for Centerfire Pistol and Revolver

SHELTON, Conn. — The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute®, Inc., (SAAMI®) is pleased to announce the release of the 2022 update to American National Standard SAAMI Z299.3-2022, Voluntary Industry Performance Standards for Velocity and Pressure of Centerfire Pistol and Revolver Sporting Ammunition for the Use of Commercial Manufacturers.

SAAMI is an accredited standards developer recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The 2022 American National Standard SAAMI Z299.3-2022 update details ammunition performance guidelines, test equipment and procedures, and provides the dimensional guidelines for ammunition cartridges and firearm chambers.

The publication of these standards is a primary part of SAAMI’s mission to establish and maintain standards to ensure safety, reliability and interchangeability of firearms, ammunition and components.

SAAMI American National Standards are periodically updated to ensure they remain current with developments in the industry and to capture new cartridge designs introduced by its member companies.

Following development by SAAMI member companies, the standard is reviewed by independent manufacturers, government agencies, testing laboratories, users and outside experts.

Capability Provides Global Coverage That Enables Operations Anywhere in the World

Successful Antenna Technology Validation on Telesat LEO SatelliteSAN DIEGO – 02 February 2023 – On Dec. 22, 2022, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and the Air National Guard (ANG), with joint support from the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and U.S. Air Force (USAF), flight tested an MQ-9A remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) equipped with a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communications (SATCOM) Command and Control system. This groundbreaking capability provides global coverage and connectivity that will enable pole-to-pole operations for GA-ASI’s family of RPA – including models such as the MQ-9B SkyGuardian®/SeaGuardian®, MQ-9A Reaper, and Gray Eagle 25M.

“This is truly game-changing for our platforms,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “Using LEO SATCOM not only keeps GA-ASI aircraft connected from the North Pole to the South Pole to allow operations in the most austere environments, but it will also provide resilient connectivity that allows operators to pass much more data to and from the aircraft.”

Early testing indicates LEO SATCOM significantly reduces latency and can be used in all phases of flight. For customers across the MQ-9 family of systems, LEO SATCOM should decrease operational costs, and the smaller hardware footprint will ultimately increase flexibility and reduce future payload integration costs.

The MQ-9A flight test was based out of GA-ASI’s Gray Butte Flight Operations Facility near Palmdale, Calif., and followed several weeks of ground testing.

GA-ASI Selected to Build OBSS for AFRL

SAN DIEGO – 02 February 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) will manufacture and perform demonstration flights of the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) unmanned Off-Board Sensing Station (OBSS) aircraft. Following a 12-month base period that culminated in a critical design review (CDR), AFRL exercised a build and flight test option.

GA-ASI’s innovative Gambit Series aircraft will validate the “genus/species” concept first developed by AFRL as part of the Low-Cost Attritable Aircraft Platform Sharing (LCAAPS) program focused on building several aircraft variants from a common core chassis. LCAAPS is a major air vehicle effort under AFRL’s Autonomous Collaborative Enabling Technologies (ACET) portfolio, which is focused on developing technologies for Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP).

“Throughout our 30-year history, GA-ASI has pioneered the advancement of unmanned aircraft systems that support our warfighters,” said GA-ASI President David R.
