Para Trap Shooter Sophia Bultema Joins Team Winchester

EAST ALTON, IL (June 29, 2022) — Winchester announces the signing of ISSF para trap shooter Sophia Bultema. The 18-year-old sport shooter hails from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will be shooting the world-famous AA target loads at the upcoming National Championships at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. She will also represent the U.S. and Team Winchester at the World Championships in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
Sophia recently competed at the World Cup France, where she set the junior world record in qualification and the final, becoming the first woman in para trap history to make a World Cup final.

Sophia began competing with her high school team through the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) because shooting was a sport where people can still compete with their peers despite physical impairments. Soon after starting with the high school team, Sophia was introduced to para trap, where she has earned the right to represent the United States in this emerging sport that is on track to be added to the Paralympic Games.

Open to athletes who have a physical impairment, the discipline of para trap shooting is based on the Olympic trap discipline, differing in only some equipment and qualification requirements. Athletes use a shotgun to hit “clays,” which are propelled into the air from machines on the ground and strive to make as many “hits” (when a clay is broken) as possible. During the competition, athletes shoot from five central positions on the range and shoot at a total of 125 clays in the qualification round.

Kansas City, KS (June 27, 2022) – On the heels of CZ’s introduction of the 457 Varmint Precision Trainer MTR comes the 457 Varmint Precision Chassis MTR in 22 LR. This precision rimfire is packed with features that make it a serious competition gun, but with a price tag nowhere near that of a custom rimfire rifle.

While CZ is known for their tight chamber tolerances that aid in making their rifles some of the most accurate production rimfires available, they first debuted an even tighter ‘Match’ chamber in the popular 457 Varmint MTR. This wood-stocked plinker became a favorite among shooters wanting even more accuracy than the standard 457 delivers.

The MTR variants of the VPT and VPC allow rimfire competition shooters to buy an affordable, match-chambered rifle that’s ready to win competitions right out of the box, eliminating the perceived need to upgrade any major components, putting both 457 variants a step above the competition.

The 457 VPC MTR comes with CZ’s famous cold hammer-forged and lapped barrel, 16 inches in length and with 1/2×28 threads for mounting a suppressor or muzzle device. Robotic Autonomous Systems (RAS)

Armed forces around the world are beginning to integrate robotic and autonomous military systems and electric vehicles into their operations. Once a vision of the future, these technologies have now become reality in international conflicts and deployments. Armies and other emergency forces will increasingly use RAS, for example, for disaster control and explosive ordnance disposal. Unmanned, computer-controlled vehicles can provide situational awareness or assistance in remote regions. Already, RAS are being deployed for border surveillance and to provide support in hostile environments, particularly in extreme climatic conditions or in response to heightened military threats. A wide range of sensors and systems are used to survey and reconnoiter entire areas, thus facilitating the mission. These systems can help emergency responders perform tasks more safely and efficiently. Typical application areas include cargo mules for transporting supplies, medical evacuations, and remote-controlled combat systems. These unmanned ground vehicles must be able to detect obstacles and people so that hazards can be eliminated.

Armies must rely on innovations and cutting-edge technologies of this kind to eliminate the need for “boots on the ground”. However, this also entails a risk that should not be underestimated. The lack of personnel in the field means that certain processes must be redesigned. In the event of a system failure, service or maintenance personnel may be unable to enter the area of operations directly due to a hazardous situation. Therefore, the interfaces to the different situational awareness systems or drive technologies must be designed in a way that guarantees maximum reliability – even under the most adverse environmental conditions and when subjected to extreme vibrations. In areas where a decision must be made by humans, it must be possible to flexibly switch over to a remote drive-by-wire or follow-me function, depending on the system. The latter is only possible by coupling 360° all-round-vision cameras and infrared and laser technology to the integrated soldier systems.

Interfaces must therefore be developed to match the respective applications and connect the deployed systems in a fail-safe manner. Highly robust, reliable, and application-specific connector systems and cable assemblies are required to transmit mission-critical data.

Robust under high loads and extreme temperatures, resistant to dust, water and vibrations – this is what ODU connector systems stand for. Optimized for demanding applications and transmission reliability even under the most technically challenging environmental conditions – as successfully demonstrated in projects such as the Colossus firefighting robot and the Mars rover. We were able to meet the extremely demanding requirements with regard to high-speed data technology and high-frequency transmissions thanks to our expertise in the field of Dismounted Soldier Systems (DSS) as well as our in-depth understanding of the operational and environmental conditions to which both user and device are exposed.

Different transfer protocols (USB/HDMI/Displayport) ensure high-speed data transmissions that are also protected against access by third parties and standard interfaces. Pin-and-groove coding and color coding provide extra support in extreme situations and prevent incorrect mating. Even in the smallest installation space, different transmission variants can be individually configured. The top loader offers a large zippered front opening into the main compartment, a separate bottom compartment, side insert pockets, and a height-adjustable lid with zippered front lid compartment. The front and sides feature a MOLLE system. In addition, the backpack has a lacing system on the front and a removable helmet holder. It is hydration system compatible, has a height-adjustable chest belt, a durable handle, load control straps, and features compression around the perimeter of the base. The bag is specially constructed whereby the hip belt fixation is redirected to allow for single-handed adjustment. EAST ALTON, IL (June 27, 2022) — In 1952, the late John Olin, then-president of Olin Industries, Winchester’s parent company, had a vision of linking hunting, shooting, champion gun dogs and conservation and began transforming 650 acres of barren pasture in Brighton, Illinois, near the Mississippi River into an ideal habitat of fields, timber and water. This year, the NILO he made turns the landmark age of 70, watch the NILO short film.
From the beginning, NILO (Olin spelled backward) has had a strong connection to Winchester. It has been the testing grounds for legendary Winchester ammunition products including AA® shotshells, and a prime destination to learn about the rich Winchester history. Joe Fanizzi of Team Winchester Wins NSCA South Central Regional

Joe Fanizzi of Team Winchester Wins NSCA South Central Regional

EAST ALTON, IL (June 27, 2022) — Event number four of the NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester, is complete, and Team Winchester shooter Joseph Fanizzi achieved high honors as the event champion. The South Central Regional was hosted by Providence Hill Farm Sporting Club in Jackson, Mississippi, with over 550 shooters participating. 
Fanizzi, the 2021 NSCA National champion, entered day two of the Winchester main event two targets behind several competitors and knew that he would likely have to shoot a perfect score on the Mustang course in order to be in the running for high overall. When the scores were tabulated, Fanizzi and fellow competitor David Radulovich were tied with a total of 196 targets each. A shoot-off ensued, and Fanizzi added a Regional Championship trophy to his already impressive list of achievements for the year. 
Teammate and mentor Zachary Kienbaum also had a stellar performance, winning high overall in the FITASC event and narrowly missing the podium in the main event, 5-stand and super sport events.
The Winchester Ladies Cup continues its run as well, with a highly competitive class of female shooters. Results from the South Central event included:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

The CBRN planning team is monitoring the COVID-19 situation as the health of our event participants, members, and partners remains our top priority. We are committed to following the guidelines and precautions as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the venue. Attendees should adhere to the following at the conference:

PROOF OF VACCINATION: All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to badge pick-up. NDIA will only allow the following tests that are administered by a medical professional: Rapid Antigen, Rapid PCR, and Regular PCR tests. Proof of antibodies or self-administered/at-home tests will not be accepted. COVID testing is the financial responsibility of the attendee.
MASKS: Attendees who are fully vaccinated (defined as 2 weeks after a 2 dose vaccine or 2 weeks after a single dose vaccine) may choose to wear a mask. Attendees who are unvaccinated will be required to wear a mask at all times indoors.
WAIVER: All registrants are required to sign the COVID-19 waiver during the online registration process. Attendees may disclose their vaccination status at the time of signing.
SOCIAL DISTANCING: Additional venue space will be available to allow for attendees to spread out.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE: Food and beverage areas will be designed to minimize touchpoints utilizing individually packaged or attended stations.

Gearfire gives industry the opportunity to support NSSF’s Project ChildSafe gun safety education program byGearfire-PCS-NSSF offering retailers and ranges the ability to activate a round-up or donation option for their customers to use at checkout.

In a new video, Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President and CEO and Chairman of the Project ChildSafe Foundation, and Eric Wille, Gearfire’s Director of Retail Product Management, announce the partnership. In the video, Wille illustrates how Gearfire’s clients can activate the Project ChildSafe donation option.

The SCS-MOS (Solar Charging Sight) is a pistol-mounted reflex sight that features an internal solar rechargeable battery. Not only does the optic self-regulate intensity to ambient light like all other Solar-Safe Holosun optics, but the solar panel also recharges the internal battery.

The SCS-MOS was designed from the ground up to match the form and style of the Glock™ MOS platform with serrations on the optic body that fit flush with the factory Glock™ slide serrations. It also features a low-profile deck, so standard Glock iron sights can still be used with the SCS-MOS attached. Potentially, this optic can function indefinitely with the correct lighting requirements. Holosun’s latest Auto-mode system adjusts reticle intensity instantly and includes an override function.

The SCS-MOS boasts a grade 5 Titanium IP67 rated housing and features our Super Green (540nm) LED technology using the MRS™ (Multi-Reticle System) to give users the choice between a 2 MOA Dot Only, 32 MOA Circle only, or a 32 MOA Circle with a 2 MOA dot. For best zeroing, a 30+/- MOA travel adjustment with 1 MOA click adjustment can be set by adjusting the windage and elevation on the top and side of the optic housing. The SCS-MOS is parallax-free with unlimited eye relief for the best possible target acquisition.

Having a large optic window is important and never more so than on a pistol reflex optic. Built into the 1.93×1.03×0.91 housing is a 0.77×0.58 window. This is a massive window to housing ratio and has helped keep the weight down to 1.3 oz. The window has been coated with various filters and anti-reflective properties to keep visual acuity. This helps to reduce glare, limit streaking and improve clarity when acquiring a target.

Holosun has taken the wants and needs of its users into account and has proven they are listening. A solar charging optic from Holosun has finally hit the market that eliminates the need to change batteries. With the SCS-MOS, a user never needs to worry about battery changes or having left a powered-off SCS optic idle for too long. A battery life indicator provides remaining battery life when powered on, and the internal battery can last for up to 20,000 hours in a worst-case scenario. In March 2022, TEAM5 Medical Foundation traveled on its first post-COVID humanitarian aid mission to the Palpa regions of Nepal, providing much-needed medical relief for indigenous peoples in the rural and mountainous areas of the country. Knoxville, Tenn. (June 2022) – Tasmanian Tiger®, a tactical nylon line of products distributed exclusively for the US market by Proforce Equipment, Inc., welcomes the return of the TEAM5 Medical Foundation from its mission to provide medical relief to several remote villages in the Palpa region of Nepal. TEAM5 is a non-profit SOFMED veteran foundation providing medical relief to some of the world’s most overlooked populations in hard-to-reach places.

The Nepal expedition, originally scheduled before COVID-19 restrictions, was finally launched in March of this year. The TEAM5 team, consisting of a highly trained medical team comprised of professionals from the USA, UK, Croatia, and Nepal, are all volunteers. Many TEAM5 volunteers traveled over 25 hours in flight to arrive in Katmandu, only to then ride in a 4×4 for an additional 12-hours in order to reach the campsite. After reconciling some political challenges, the team still faced Nepal’s notoriously famous tough terrain. Moving the team from low-ground camps to high-altitude camps, coupled with 95-degree days with 100 percent humidity did not deter TEAM5 members from reaching out to as many patients as possible.

TEAM5 founder and team leader, Eric Linder, said, “TEAM5 is comprised of all volunteers. Members take their holiday vacations away from their families to help those less fortunate. This was, no doubt, a very challenging mission, both mentally and physically, but our team, created from several countries, including the USA, United Kingdom, Croatia, and Nepal, all worked seamlessly to provide advanced western care to those who would never have had the opportunity before.”

Tasmanian Tiger’s Silver Sponsorship supported TEAM5 through financial and product donations. The enhanced Beretta 1301 Tactical is the newest iteration of Beretta’s premier law enforcement and home-defense semi-automatic shotgun series. Engineered to be ultra-reliable and easy to use, this modern tactical shotgun features enlarged controls, a cold hammer-forged, back-bored barrel, and Beretta’s ultrafast BLINK gas operating system with a cross tube gas piston that allows for 36% faster cycling than its competition.

Right out of the box, the new 1301 features an oversized charging handle, a large highly textured bolt release, and an oversized reversible safety button. These features make it easy to use in all weather or lighting conditions as your hands will always be able to positively and safely grip it and operate the controls. Also, the aggressive checkering on the forend makes it easy to gain a secure grip even while wearing gloves.

The 1301 Tactical features a robust, protected ghost-ring system with an interchangeable front sight, which gives the user the opportunity to adapt it to any use – no matter the conditions. An interchangeable choke system allows for maximum flexibility based on use and needs. An OptimaBore HP Improved Cylinder (flush configuration) is included with this package as well as a factory 7+1 capacity one-piece magazine tube (with correct 2.75″ shells – certain shells may be beyond 2.75″ in OAL and will reduce capacity to 6+1).

The stock is adjustable for length-of-pull with provided spacers to ensure that it will always come up naturally to your shoulder and point easily. Drop and cast are adjustable as well. For additional customization, the receiver offers an aircraft-grade, aluminum MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail that makes it easy to add optics with modifications to the shotgun.

GA-ASI News: GA-ASI Prepares ELINT and COMINT Capabilities for RIMPAC Exercise

GA-ASI PREPARES ELINT AND COMINT CAPABILITIES FOR RIMPAC EXERCISE

SAN DIEGO – 23 June 2022 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) completed a series of Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), Communication Intelligence (COMINT), and Link 16 payload flight test events near Palmdale and Edwards Air Force Base in California in preparation for Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022 exercise. The sensors were integrated onto GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Unmanned Aircraft System, which will be featured at RIMPAC 2022.

RIMPAC is the world’s largest international maritime exercise involving more than 40 ships and 150 aircraft from 27 partner nations. The 2022 exercise will take place late June to early August in Hawaii and Southern California.

“GA-ASI is proud to be participating in the U.S. Navy’s RIMPAC exercise,” said GA-ASI Vice President of DoD Strategic Development, Patrick Shortsleeve. “SeaGuardian is the ultimate unmanned system for maritime security, with its multi-domain Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), targeting Signal Intelligence (SIGINT), and sonobuoy monitoring and control. The Edwards AFB test flights helped ensure and enhance the accuracy of our systems ahead of the exercise.”

The flight tests near Palmdale and Edwards AFB were conducted April 20-June 9, 2022. The ELINT payload on SeaGuardian is supplied by Sierra Nevada Corporation and the COMINT payload is made by L3Harris Technologies.

SeaGuardian is the maritime version of GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian®. The MQ-9B line of UAS provide industry-leading endurance and interoperability with allied partners. What differentiates SeaGuardian is its advanced maritime Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capability, which features a multi-mode maritime surface-search radar with Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar imaging mode, an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities, and a High-Definition, Full-Motion Video sensor equipped with optical and infrared cameras.
