Rustic in appearance, this medium-sized belt knife can be used as a hunting or general woods/camp knife. The Bear features a 4.5-inch 80CrV2 high carbon steel blade meant for toughness and ease of sharpening. The tumbled acid wash finish looks aged and will be enhanced as a natural patina forms.
The saber grind keeps the blade thin enough to excel at slicing, while the extra meat near the spine makes the .125” (1/8”) thick blade tough and resilient as a Bear. There’s no need to be shy about batoning the Bear through seasoned hardwood in the absence of an axe. The added 90-degree spine scrapes tinder and a ferro rod with authority. And it peels carrots and spuds for real camp cooking.
Comfort first. If you are apprehensive about knives with small handles, this is the one for YOU. A nearly 5-inch handle offers plenty of room for extra-large and gloved hands. The oval cross-sectioned accommodates anyone worried about hot spots from sharp angles and finger grooves. For a secure textured grip, carry The Bear proudly sporting black or green burlap micarta, or keep it natural with red oak scales.

GA-ASI ESTABLISHES NEW COLLABORATION AGREEMENT WITH LEIDOS IN AUSTRALIA
Represents a Continuation of Business Relationship With Cobham Australia
SAN DIEGO – 01 March 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and Leidos have agreed to continue the successful business relationship previously held between GA-ASI and Cobham Australia. With Leidos’ acquisition of the Cobham Special Mission business in October 2022, Leidos has now assumed the role of GA-ASI’s primary Australian industry collaborator for defense and security business.
The arrangement will support discussions relating to a Defence Armed Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, and the Australian Border Force future crewed/uncrewed aircraft system under the Civil Maritime Capability Program.
Discussions are also underway between Leidos and GA-ASI for cooperation on further defence projects in Australia and opportunities in the U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is pleased to announce that Birchwood Casey, part of GSM Outdoors, has again shown its support for the First Shots® introduction-to-target-shooting program with a generous donation of 10,000 Shoot-N-C targets.
First Shots is an introductory and refresher program made available through host target-shooting ranges across the country. With interest in firearm ownership at record high levels, First Shots programs are meeting the demand for education and experiences in the classroom and on the range.
Birchwood Casey has been a longstanding partner of First Shots. The company has a 70-year history of providing professional-grade gun care and refinishing products to its customers, as well as its Shoot-N-C targets. For 2023, Tasmanian Tiger is expanding its range of tactical equipment for professional military and police. Several new backpacks will be on display, including the TT Medic Mascal Pack (Mascal = Mass Casualty), the TT Modular Tac Pack 28L, and the TT Survival Pack. The TT Medic Mascal Pack is designed for simultaneous first aid treatment of many injured persons when they cannot be treated individually immediately. For this purpose, the backpack features four IFAK pouches on the front for quick access, and the interior layout is designed to be stocked with materials for emergency operations involving many injured people.
The TT Modular Tac Pack 28L, which can be equipped with modules, is also suitable for loading with more weight due to the reinforcement of the back system with a PP plate and an aluminum rail. For this purpose, it can also be supplemented with the sturdy TT Molle Hip Belt. The backpack has a main compartment with various mesh pockets as well as MOLLE hook-and-loop areas for individual equipment and MOLLE on the front pocket and sides.
The TT Survival Pack is an escape and survival backpack for personal equipment. It comes with six interior pockets of varying sizes with transparent lids, a dual-sided rain cover (one side with stripes in warning orange), and a Tac Marker. Two hidden hooks can be used to attach plate carrier panels or other pouches. Simple shoulder straps, as well as carrying handles, can be stowed when the backpack is stored in vehicles.

SPRINGFIELD, MA., (2/28/2023) – Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: SWBI), a leader in firearm manufacturing and design, is proud to introduce its new folding pistol carbine, the M&P® FPC™.
Chambered in 9mm, the optics-ready FPC has a length of 30 ⅜ inches and a compact folded length of 16 ⅜ inches. It comes equipped with three double-stack M&P pistol magazines, including one 17-round and two 23-round mags. This new carbine features an integrated recoil buffer system, ½-28 threaded muzzle, and in-stock magazine storage for making reloading fast and efficient. The horizontal folding mechanism of the FPC provides a locking latch to enable secured transport and prevents interference with most top-mounted optics or accessories.
“The team at Smith & Wesson aimed to design a pistol carbine that was compatible with various M&P series pistol magazines. We exceeded that initial desire by introducing side-folding mechanics that deliver a unique compact feature and allow the user to keep their sight system mounted on the gun both in the folded and extended positions. Extra magazine storage in the buttstock, familiar M&P fire controls and reliable palmswell grip adaptors all make this new pistol carbine a great addition to the M&P family,” said John Myles, Senior Manager of New Products.
Additional features include a handguard with an upper Picatinny rail and M-LOK® slots for accessory mounting capabilities, a flat-face trigger design that offers a crisp single-action trigger break, and four interchangeable palmswells for maximum comfort. The M&P FPC also comes with a carrying bag designed with multiple Velcro® storage compartments to secure additional equipment for easy transport. This new folding pistol carbine is proudly made in the U.S.A. and has an MSRP of $659.00.

LAND FORCES MOVES TO MELBOURNE FOR 2024 AND BEYOND
The LAND FORCES International Land Defense Exposition, Australia’s premier land defense industry event, will move to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) for 2024 and beyond, as the event continues to grow.
Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2021 and 2022, LAND FORCES is the region’s largest land defense exposition, hosting 810 participating exhibitor companies and more than 20,000 trade visits over its three days in October 2022.

Trial Operation Using SeaGuardian® RPA Scheduled to Begin in April 2023
SAN DIEGO – 27 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), the global leader in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), is pleased to be selected to support the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Medium-Altitude, Long-Endurance (MALE) RPAS Trial Operation Project. The project will feature GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SeaGuardian® and will begin in April 2023.
SeaGuardian will be used to conduct various tests to review adaptability to support JMSDF’s manned-unmanned teaming missions and its level of manpower reduction. The Japanese government announced that Japan Coast Guard and JMSDF will be exchanging the data obtained by the MQ-9Bs operated for each of the government’s branches.
“We’re pleased to support the JMSDF’s trial operation with our SeaGuardian UAS,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We know there is a need in Japan and worldwide for affordable long-endurance airborne surveillance in the maritime domain.”
SeaGuardian features a multi-mode maritime surface-search radar with an Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imaging mode, an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, and a High-Definition – Full-Motion Video sensor equipped with optical and infrared cameras. This sensor suite enables real-time detection and identification of surface vessels over thousands of square nautical miles and provides automatic tracking of maritime targets and correlation of AIS transmitters with radar tracks.
SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian® are revolutionizing the long-endurance RPAS market by providing true all-weather capability and are built to achieve Type Certification based on STANAG-4671 (NATO standard) airworthiness compliance. This feature, along with GA-ASI’s operationally proven collision avoidance radar, enables flexible operations in civil airspace.

Today, the American Suppressor Association Foundation (ASA-F) and Silencer Shop helped file a lawsuit against the State of Illinois, alleging that Illinois’ ban on suppressor ownership and possession is an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment.
“The American Suppressor Association Foundation has always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding Americans to possess and own suppressors. After last summer’s Bruen ruling, we knew it was time to get to work on a case that would apply the Second Amendment’s protections to the States,” said Knox Williams, ASA-F’s Executive Director.
“This case argues that suppressors are covered by the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms, and that Illinois’ flat-out ban on suppressor ownership is therefore unconstitutional,” said Chris Boeck, ASA-F Board Member and General Counsel of Silencer Shop. “We’re optimistic the courts will agree with our interpretation, and extend the right to own suppressors to the people of Illinois. Suppressors offer critical hearing protection, reduce recoil, and improve accuracy. They facilitate communication and situational awareness while hunting, at the range, and during urgent moments of self-defense. They make firearms safer.”
Williams continued, “the standard of review laid out by the Supreme Court in its Bruen decision last summer requires Illinois to justify its ban on suppressor ownership by showing that the ban is consistent with ‘the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.’ Since there has never been a nationwide ban on suppressor ownership, and since suppressors are neither dangerous nor unusual, we are confident that Illinois will not be able to justify its ban to the court.”
Illinois’ ban on suppressors is on borrowed time. ASA-F and Silencer Shop are confident that this lawsuit will open up the door to legal suppressor ownership in the Prairie State.

GA-ASI PERFORMS COLD WEATHER VALIDATION USING MQ-9B SKYGUARDIAN®
Validation Flight Satisfies the Cold Weather Operational Capability
Needs for Nordic Countries
SAN DIEGO – 24 February 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) successfully performed Cold Weather Validation (CWV) using a company-owned MQ-9B SkyGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) in late Jan./early Feb. 2023, adding to the cold weather experience of the MQ-9 family of systems. The system’s ground servicing actions, maneuvers, and flights were based out of GA-ASI’s Flight Test and Training Center (FTTC) in Grand Forks, N.D. SkyGuardian is being proposed to multiple Nordic countries for their Defence and Security needs. The CWV flight test widens and accelerates the global operational implementation for SkyGuardian, especially for countries that need to operate in cold conditions.
To prepare for the CWV, SkyGuardian was put in a “cold soak” that kept the aircraft at a temperature well below -21°C/-5°F for 12 hours, then prepared for ground maneuvers and flight through a de-icing process using de-icing and anti-icing fluids. In a second scenario, SkyGuardian transitioned from a climate-controlled hangar to engine start and system checks under basic cold conditions (temperature below -21°C/ -5°F ambient air). For the first flight, the outside temperature was below -21°C/-5°F. All scenarios were successfully and consistently conducted in impressive time, relying on standard de-icing and anti-icing procedures, fluids, and support equipment, a testament to the systems’ high readiness and responsiveness.
“Among the many transformative features of our MQ-9B line of RPA is the aircraft’s ability to perform in extreme temperatures,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We welcome the cold weather operational capability requirements from Nordic countries, as the MQ-9B is built for all-weather global missions, and we’re thrilled to have MQ-9B perform so impressively under these demanding cold conditions. The CWV, coupled with our recent Low Earth Orbit (LEO) SATCOM flight tests, demonstrate how our aircraft can successfully perform missions in the Arctic region, which is becoming a clear security priority for NORAD and NATO.”
GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian® are revolutionizing the long-endurance RPAS market by providing all-weather capability and certification, with full compliance with STANAG-4671 (NATO UAS airworthiness standard).
