Why would I use the CUBL?

The CUBL has the ability to Cant the holster position and adjust the draw angle. Our CUBL has a + or – 10 degree cant from nominal, which means the holster can run parallel with your leg and up to 20 degrees behind the operator.

What should I consider when selecting a ride height for the CUBL?
A number of factors can influence your ride height choice. Departments may require it as part a uniform code holster usage and body type also play a role. Often, finding the right ride height for you depends on where your natural draw position is on the holster. Ultimately, ride height comes down to a personal preference.

What are the different ride heights and where is the gun placement?

Low-ride:

The low-ride UBL (Universal Belt Loop) option is approximately 1.5” lower than the mid-ride option

The low-ride UBL places the butt of the pistol just below the belt line and is considered the fastest position to draw from because it is closest to the hand at a resting position.

Mid-ride:
The mid-ride UBL is the most popular, and suitable choice for all-around duty or patrol use
The mid-ride option generally places the butt of the pistol even with the belt line, which makes it a more comfortable fit when driving in a car or doing office work than the low-ride UBL.

High-ride

Approximately 1.5” higher than the mid-ride option and is often called “detective carry.”

It places the butt of the pistol above the belt line and is very comfortable for sitting in a vehicle or doing office work

Will the CUBL work with the Quick Locking System (QLS)?

Yes, the CUBL will work with all Safariland Quick Locking System kits. The QLS22 Receiver Plate will mount onto the UBL in the same position that the holster is located to work with a holster equipped with the QLS19 holster fork.

What holsters are compatible with the CUBL?

All Safariland 3-hole or “T” patterned holsters can be installed on the CUBL.

Beware of non-American made Guns

Did you know there are numerous foreign gun manufacturers that go to great lengths to make American’s (like you and I) believe their weapons are American made when they aren’t?

Why do these manufacturers want you to think their firearms (and their parts) are American made?

Could it be because American made firearms and parts are a higher quality than foreign made?

I have nothing against products made in other countries being sold in the U.S.

However, buying shoes made in China might be a good idea, purchasing a China made firearm that is illegal for Chinese citizens to own might not be such a good idea. Especially when that firearm may one day have to save your life.

This may be politically incorrect to say, but certain gun manufactures from other countries are making a killing on our 2nd Amendment. It is illegal to sell their product in their country, so they come to the U.S.

When it comes to firearms here’s two good reasons why you should use American made:

Traditionally, American gun engineering has been the gold standard for firearms, our engineering methods are mimicked by others because they are the best.
U.S. made parts are easily accessible. If a manufacturer offers an unlimited lifetime warranty on a firearm, that warranty does not guarantee how fast your gun will be fixed or replaced if need be. If all the parts are manufactured in the US, in-house, it could be more expedient than acquiring foreign parts.

L3Harris and Air Tractor Sky Warden Team Selected for USSOCOM Armed Overwatch Contract

MELBOURNE, Fla. — U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has selected L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) and Air Tractor, Inc.’s AT-802U Sky Warden™ system for its Armed Overwatch program. Award of the Indefinite Quantity, Indefinite Delivery contract includes a cost ceiling of $3 billion. The program includes delivery of up to 75 manned, fixed wing aircraft, with an initial program contract award of $170 million.

The fleet of modern multi-mission aircraft will address SOCOM’s need for a deployable, sustainable single-engine fixed-wing, crewed and affordable aircraft system. It will provide close air support, precision strike, armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), strike coordination and forward air controller requirements for use in austere and permissive environments. The aircraft will be used in irregular warfare operations.

“An important part of our Trusted Disruptor strategy is listening closely to combatant commanders’ needs, and responding faster than the evolving threats,” said Christopher E. Kubasik, Chair and Chief Executive Officer, L3Harris. “We want to deliver game-changing, modular solutions to U.S. special operators for their hardest missions, and Sky Warden does just that.”

L3Harris expects to rapidly modify last summer’s Armed Overwatch prototype demonstrator into the production configuration and provide for customer weapon system testing in approximately six months. Production of new, fully-modified, Armed Overwatch mission-configured aircraft will begin in 2023 at L3Harris’ Tulsa, Okla. modification center, following initial production at Air Tractor’s Olney, Texas aircraft manufacturing facility. Six new aircraft will be delivered under the low-rate initial production Lot 1.

“Sky Warden will bring powerful and affordable close air support, precision strike, armed ISR, and command and control capabilities directly to special operations forces in the battlefield,” said Sean Stackley, President, Integrated Mission Systems, L3Harris. “We are ready now to begin work on this modern, multi-mission system for the SOCOM Armed Overwatch program.”

The production-ready Sky Warden system is tailorable for a variety of mission requirements to meet U.S. mission needs.

NEWINGTON, N.H., (August 22, 2022) – Sig Sauer has determined that portions of Lot No. JDAR0815 of SIG SAUER 9MM, 115gr, Elite Ball, FMJ (SKU E9MMB1-50), may have powder charge variations that could result in a bullet remaining in the barrel (I.e., a bullet-in-bore obstruction). Firing a subsequent bullet into a bore obstruction could cause firearm damage, rendering the firearm inoperable and subjecting the shooter and bystanders to a risk of serious personal injury.

Ammunition from this lot should be removed from use immediately and segregated from other ammunition until it can be returned to SIG SAUER.

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute®, Inc., (SAAMI®), is pleased to announce it has developed suppressor thread and socket drawings and made them publicly available, without restriction, on SAAMI.org.

“With suppressors gaining in popularity among recreational shooters, SAAMI is leading the way in developing technical and compatibility guidelines for manufacturing this equipment,” said SAAMI President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “I am proud of the SAAMI team for developing and making this resource publicly available.”

The development of new suppressor thread and socket drawings aligns with SAAMI’s overall mission to create manufacturing standards that serve industry’s interests of compatibility, reliability and interchangeability. By creating a uniform set of guidelines for both the threads on the muzzle and the internal socket of the suppressor, or other attached device, manufacturers and users can be assured devices compliant to the standards will work together.

“It is exciting to see SAAMI expanding its reach for the benefit of American sport shooters by providing technical guidance in the field of sound suppression and methods of attachment for muzzle devices,” said Alan Serven, SAAMI’s Senior Director of Technical Affairs.

Showcased at Shot Show 2022, the new LPVOs 1-6X24 and 1-8X24 (with a choice of two reticles) bring up the lower magnification end of Brownells’ line of outstanding optics. In September I’ll be bringing you my review of the 1-6X24 model. I’ll say it right of the bat, this is one impressive optic, the Japanese glass is outstanding as is build quality. it’s also a unique offering in that Brownells chose the battle proven donut reticle. WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded $2.7 million to support research on how drones can assist in disaster preparedness and in emergencies.

“Every second counts in an emergency, and this funding will allow drones to safely and more quickly deploy in moments when minutes matter,” said Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen.

The research will explore the use of drones in providing effective and efficient responses to different natural and human-made disasters. It will address coordination procedures among drone operators from federal agencies as well as state and local disaster preparedness and emergency response organizations. The five universities and their award amounts are:

University of Alabama Huntsville $828,070
New Mexico State University $400,000
North Carolina State University $200,000
Kansas State University $145,000

Today’s announcement is the third round of Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE) grants, which brings the total to 20 grants valued at $21 million for Fiscal Year 2022.

The ASSURE Center of Excellence is one of six that the agency has established to help advance technology and educate the next generation of aviation professionals. Research conducted through ASSURE is focused on helping the drone community safely grow and integrate into the nation’s airspace.

Earlier in 2022, Secretary Buttigieg outlined six key Innovation Principles the Department of Transportation will apply when fostering transportation technologies. Specifically, while continuing to commit to the highest standards of safety across technologies, these awards demonstrate the Department’s commitment to exploring ways to leverage innovation to help communities and public sector partners through experimentation.

More than 850,000 recreational and commercial drones are in the active drone fleet, and that number is expected to grow.
