What is I-Vis?

I-Vis is an advanced dye formulation process resulting in a new series of lens tints that markedly enhance visual performance while providing state-of-the-art ballistic eye protection.

Clara: Brings out color definition and contrast in brightly lit areas of white, gray, and blue found in snowy wooded areas, rocks, and mountains. It is modeled for use in northern Europe, Scandinavia, and the Baltics, and Poland. This lens will help the wearer better see the undulations of snowpack, identify recently covered tracks, estimate distances, and makes man-made structures, vehicles, and people stand out. Umbra: Designed to bring out color contrast in overcast, snow-covered scenes that are dominated by whites and grays found in snowy wooded areas, rocks, and mountains. It is modeled for use in northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltics, and Poland. This lens will help the wearer better see the undulations of snowpack, identify recently covered tracks, estimate distances, and makes man-made structures, vehicles, and people stand out. Skills4Life Provides Hunting Opportunities for our Nation’s Heroes-Maine Moose Hunt and La Fonda Ranch Dove Hunt

San Antonio, TX (October 18, 2022) Skills4Life is one of the core programs provided by Military Warriors Support Foundation. The goal is to deliver activities for combat-wounded heroes and Gold Star families. Their participation provides a chance to connect with other heroes and become involved in peer mentorship, the backbone of Skills4Life. The events range from golf outings, hunting, fishing, sporting, and family-oriented activities. Recently Skills4Life held two fantastic events. A Maine Moose Hunt was held on September 12th-19th, and on September 22nd-25th, combat-wounded veterans had the opportunity to participate in a dove hunt.

The 2022 Maine Moose Hunt was another amazing event for our nation’s Heroes. Everyone at Smoldering Lake Outfitters was top-notch, the food was excellent and the staff went above and beyond to make our Heroes feel welcomed.

During the hunt, Heroes were guided by some of Maine’s finest game wardens from across the state. This particular hunt is a depredation hunt to keep the moose out of the broccoli crops that are harvested fresh daily. The program has proven to be effective, and Skills4Life was privileged to support the local farmers.

Two of the four Heroes were able to fill their tags. Joe Guerrero got a young bull on the first evening hunt at sunset. Joe tagged the moose and sent it to the processor. Hero Brian Bentley filled his tag on a monster bull two mornings later! The biggest they had seen in the area in quite a while. Unfortunately, not all of the Heroes in attendance could get their sights on a moose. It was no surprise when the Heroes, who were lucky enough to tag out, shared their moose meat with the others. In the end, each Hero brought home plenty of meat to fill their freezers.

Also, this year, Skills4Life was honored to return to the La Fonda Ranch from September 22-25th. Sysco was generous and donated all the food for the hunt, so our Heroes had great meals! There’s always plenty to do there, from fishing in the pond, shooting at the range or hunting dove in the fields. Every Hero had an awesome time with plenty of birds flying; they were able to limit out every day. They even received some lessons in long-range shooting. As always, Skills4Life is already looking forward to going back next year.

La Fonda Ranch is a playground for the outdoorsman. All of the Heroes and other veterans joined in on the camaraderie. The facilities are top notch with beautifully decorated rooms and lodge. If you’ve been there once, you’ll want to go back.

Hatsan’s Highly Customizable Competition PCP Rifle – Factor RC

Rogers, AR (October 18, 2022) – HatsanUSA has brought a new highly-customizable competition PCP air rifle to the US market – the Factor RC. Available in .177, .22, and .25 calibers, it can be fine-tuned and tailored to various competitions and shooting styles. Among its many features is the ability to accept commercially available pistol grips and buttstocks made for modern sporting rifles and has a reversible cocking lever for ambidextrous operation.

You’ll find that the ergonomic pistol grip is covered in soft, durable rubber and is textured to provide maximum grip and control. The 5-position telescoping buttstock also features an elevation adjustable cheek rest that can be moved in 5mm increments up to 40mm tall or removed for low-profile optics. Hatsan’s famous fully adjustable Quattro Trigger includes a trigger pad that can be moved vertically and rotated left or right for maximum precision and comfort.

The Factor RC’s power output is also highly adjustable, featuring an externally adjustable pressure regulator with its output pressure gauge. A power level knob, on one side of the receiver, controls the amount of air transferred into the barrel. On the other side, a hammer preload adjuster helps fine-tune power output and cocking effort. The Factor RC features a removable 580cc carbon fiber air tank and is also equipped with a Foster-style quick-disconnect fill inlet. In place of the normal fill nozzle, an extended quick-disconnect is included. An integrated color-coded manometer allows the system pressure to be easily monitored at-a-glance.

The 23-inch-long precision rifled and choked barrel will ensure accuracy, while Hatsan’s QuietEnergy technology, full-length barrel shroud, will reduce noise output. A standard ½” UNF threaded muzzle piece is included to allow a larger sound moderator or air stripper to be added without modifications. To round out the Factor RC’s features, 2 high-capacity SwingLoad magazines (that can be linked together to facilitate faster mag changes) and a single-shot tray for precision loading are included, a picatinny rail is installed beneath the forearm, along with a combination optic system that will accept picatinny, Weaver, and 11mm dovetail mounts.

All these features add another level of precision and consistency that can place over 100 shots on target from a single fill and come in a package that weighs less than 8 lbs. For ultimate power, performance, customization, and competition – the Factor RC is it!

SOFTWARE ON GRAY EAGLE EXTENDED RANGE

SAN DIEGO – 18 October 2022 – U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft System Project Office and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) successfully performed the first flight test of a new U.S. Army Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) ground segment for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle Extended Range (GE-ER) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The test took place at Ft. Stewart, Ga. in coordination with Product Manager Endurance Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PdM EUAS) and the B Co, 224th were part of the U.S. Army-funded development efforts to upgrade and modernize the GE-ER.

GA-ASI successfully flight tested the new Ground Modernization Software Suite (GMSS) that was hosted on an Army prototype of a Gray Eagle Miniature Mission Interface (GEMMI) on Sept. 27, 2022. The flight test demonstrated the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), a multi-vendor suite that commands the automated takeoff and landing, flight modes and sensor control of the GE-ER. GA-ASI provided major software components, or Units of Portability (UoPs), to enable robust, safe aircraft control and performed system integration of the overall software suite. This achievement represents a huge step forward for the Army’s MOSA efforts by demonstrating the technical maturity of Open Architecture (OA) software to be able to control UAS with adherence to the Army’s Scalable Control Interface (SCI) System Architecture.

This event enabled critical risk reduction for the Gray Eagle 25M UAS, which integrates new advanced datalinks, OA avionics suite, updated communications equipment, and new HFE 2.0 engine with Brushless Generator capabilities onto the GE-ER with GMSS as the new control segment. GMSS will be used for all aspects of GE-25M UAS flight testing beginning in 2023. GE-25M UAS is designed for Multi-Domain Operations with its OA avionics suite and future capabilities, which will include Air-Launched Effects (ALE), advanced teaming, and new sensor modalities.

“GA-ASI, in partnership with the PdM EUAS and third-party vendors, is at the forefront of demonstrating the technical maturity of Army’s MOSA vision,” said GA-ASI Vice President of Army Programs Don Cattell. “GE-25M showcases the Army MOSA Transformation Office-led paradigm shift in how business is done to enable high reuse and portability of capability development across the Army enterprise.”

Fort Worth, Texas (October 17, 2022) – Few things are more frustrating than trying to fillet a fish with a dull or rusty knife. Not only is it incredibly dangerous, but it can also lead to consequences through infection or damage. It is simply more practical and safer to use a sharp cutting blade that results in predictable cuts. In a tackle box, knives do not stay rust-free for very long.

It is hard to deny the usefulness of a knife that can be used for utility and general purposes. The ability to change the fillet blade in two simple steps is even more useful. For this reason, True brings the Swift Edge Fish Fillet Kit to the North American market.

The 6-piece kit features a handle, three fillet blades, a molded sheath, and a soft storage case. The knife handle is made from thermoplastic rubber and larger in diameter than previous Swift Edge counterparts. The handle also houses a lanyard/carabiner mount on the rear. This design and material are more useful in wet and slippery environments as it provides a better gripping surface.

Pre-installed is a 7-½ inch fillet blade. The kit also includes 6-inch and 9-½-inch fillet blades. Despite being a fillet-specific kit, the handle also accepts blades from the True Hunt Processing Kit. All blades can quickly be changed by moving the toggle lock on the back of the handle and depressing the release tab. All blades are 5Cr13 steel with a titanium nitrate coating for extra durability and hardness.

Housing the knife safely is a molded sheath. On the top of the sheath is an integrated sharpening sod for easy use and quick honing. An integrated belt sheath makes it easy to carry safely. The sheath is compatible with the 6-inch and 7-½-inch blades only. When not in use, a nylon storage wrap holds all of the contents securely, so they can be placed in a larger kit or box when necessary.

All these independent blades fit into the Swift Edge thermoplastic rubberized handle designed for use in wet environments that require an unwavering grip. The hook, fillet and butcher knives are made from 5Cr13 steel finished in a titanium nitrate coating. The bone saw is made from 65Mn steel for additional hardness and wear resistance, while still being finished in titanium nitrate.

As with all Swift Edge knives, the blades can be changed with the patented 2-step process. This includes toggling the switch on the rear of the handle and depressing the blade release. To install, insert the new blade until the release snaps into place. The handle is also compatible with all the Fillet Kit lengths. The handle has an integrated lanyard and carabiner loop.

A molded plastic sheath is included with the 6-inch fillet blade. In addition to a molded plastic clip, a sharpening rod is incorporated into the design. Every item can be stored in an included nylon storage wrap. This reduces both the size of the items and the locations each tool can be stored.

It is easy to see why a versatile and compact kit is essential for a hunter. The entire Hunt Processing Kit saves space by utilizing the Swift Edge system. Regarding what you may be seeing/hearing in the news about changes to Merchant Category Codes (MCC) as they relate to firearms retailers, in summary, your business with us has not been affected. Your transactions continue to fall under the Sporting Goods Retailer category.

Over the last several weeks there has been a lot of media attention on the subject of Merchant Category Codes (MCC) and the tracking of firearms purchases by the credit card processing companies. Because of this media coverage and subsequent confusion on the subject, we wanted to reach out to you and give you a little more information and let you know how this impacts your business with Creedmoor Sports. In September, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) announced that they would publish a new MCC within their current listing for Firearms Retailers. The ISO publishes the list of MCCs that are used by the credit card processors to classify all businesses that utilize credit cards for transactions. This classification is then part of the data maintained for the credit card transactions. Based on this, we contacted our processing company to verify that our MCC has not changed. This was confirmed and Creedmoor Sports is classified as a Sporting Goods Retailer, just as we have been for many years. NSSF Praises U.S. House Range Access Act Introduction

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praised the introduction of the Range Access Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. This legislation, introduced by U.S. Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah), would increase and improve outdoor recreation opportunities across the nation while improving infrastructure and driving economic growth in rural communities.

“NSSF commends Congressman Moore for introducing this vitally important legislation to increase access for the public to practice marksmanship at safe recreational shooting ranges,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “This legislation, that would require the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management have at least one qualifying recreational shooting range in each National Forest and BLM district, is crucial to ensuring safe public recreational shooting. Congressman Moore’s bill would also benefit conservation by reducing pollution at non-dedicated ranges on federal public lands while also generating additional Pittman-Robertson revenue.”

The immediate benefit of this legislation is providing public access to safe recreational shooting ranges, especially in rural areas. Background checks for firearm sales saw a record of 21 million in 2020 and another 18.5 million in 2021. So far, background checks for firearm sales in 2022 are on pace for the third strongest year on record, with background checks topping 1 million for 38 consecutive months. Those gun owners, many of whom are first-timers, are in need of safe and modern ranges to practice marksmanship skills.

This legislation has the added benefit of supporting wildlife conservation and improving recreational shooting access. Recreational shooting is tied to approximately 85 percent of the Pittman-Robertson excise taxes currently being paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers, making it a major driving contributor to wildlife conservation. Since the Pittman-Robertson excise tax was enacted in 1937, firearm and ammunition makers have paid $15.3 billion for conservation, construction and improvement of public recreational shooting ranges. Adjusted for inflation, that figure tops $23 billion.

EAGLEVILLE, PA, October 13, 2022 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting, launched the Syclone® Jr., an ultra-compact rechargeable work light that fits in tight spaces for a variety of identification and repair uses. Hands-free or hanging, the body of the light can rotate 360 degrees in its U-shaped magnetic base and can be easily adjusted with one hand. Weighing just 2.0 ounces and delivering up to 210 lumens and 8.5 hours of run time, it also provides the convenience and cost savings of USB rechargeability.

The new light features both high and low beams and uses a cool white LED for maximum illumination. The light can stand on its weighted base, which also includes magnets for attaching to metal surfaces for hands-free lighting. A handy folding hook to hang the light is also provided for added versatility.

“The Syclone Jr. is small but mighty, with a rotating body that aims light where it is needed, even in the tightest spaces,” said Streamlight Chief Revenue Officer Michael F. And because it uses a USB rechargeable battery, it offers among the lowest operating costs of any area light of its type and size.”

On the high setting, the new light delivers 210 lumens, 1,550 candela, and a 3.75 hour run time. On low, it provides 85 lumens and 600 candela, with a run time of 8.5 hours. Featuring a lithium-ion 1000 mAh cell, the Syclone Jr. offers effortless battery charging by pulling open the rubber USB cover and plugging the charge cord into the light’s micro-USB port. Charge times vary depending on the voltage the USB source provides. The light also can be recharged in 4.5 hours with an AC wall charger.

The Syclone Jr. features tough thermoplastic construction with an elastomer button, and an acrylic, gasket-sealed lens. It has an IPX4-rated design for water-resistant operation and is impact-resistant tested to 2 meters.

Weighing just 2.0 ounces, the light measures 2.04 inches in length, 2.25 inches in width, and is 1.14 inches thick. The new Syclone Jr. has an MSRP of $63.60 and comes with a two-year warranty.

Lonoke, Arkansas – October 13, 2022 – Team Remington celebrates a strong performance at the NSSA’s World Skeet Championship 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. Remington Ammunition’s entire skeet team won places at this year’s championship event. Athletes Lauren Burge, Clay Baldwin and Houston Deshotels in particular secured top finishes in the competition.

Lauren Burge secured the Lady High Overall (HOA) title for Team Remington. In addition, team shooter Clay Baldwin presented an impressive performance finishing as the World 20 Gauge Champion. Houston Deshotels won a victory in every event, including 4th in the HOA competition, 3rd in the 28GA event and 3rd in the 20GA Mini-World.

“Our elite shooters represented Big Green with an outstanding performance at this year’s World Championship,” said Mike Hampton, Remington’s Team Manager. “This competition showcased our shooters’ extreme talent to a huge audience. We’ve had a big year and it continues to get better as Team Remington keeps coming out on top.”

Running from September 30 through October 7, 2022, the World Skeet Championship allowed Remington’s team of unmatched shooters to deliver clay-crushing results at the National Shooting Complex. Thanks to a variety of Remington loads, the skeet shooters have shown the world that Big Green stays on top.

The PSTS-22 planning team continues to monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation as the health of our event participants, members, and partners remains our top priority. We are committed to following the guidelines and precautions as outlined by the Attendees can expect to see the following at NDIA events:

PROOF OF VACCINATION: All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test within three (3) days of arrival. Details for securely providing documentation will be provided shortly on the event website.
MASKS: Fully vaccinated attendees are encouraged to wear face masks but, in accordance with CDC guidance, may make that choice for themselves. If you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a face mask in public places.
WAIVER: All registrants are required to sign the COVID-19 waiver during the online registration process. Attendees may disclose their vaccination status at the time of signing.
SOCIAL DISTANCING: Additional venue space will be available to allow for attendees to spread out. Timed badge pick-ups will be implemented to reduce crowding at registration.
