NSSF Recognizes the Four Sheriffs in Congress During National Police Week 2023

U.S. Representatives pictured left to right: U.S. Reps. John Rutherford (R-Fla.), Mike Ezell (R-Miss.), Troy Nehls (R-Texas) and Clay Higgins (R-La.)

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, recognized four former sheriffs serving in Congress as Real Solutions.® Champions during National Police Week 2023. U.S. Reps. John Rutherford (R-Fla.), Mike Ezell (R-Miss.), Troy Nehls (R-Texas) and Clay Higgins (R-La.) were presented awards for their contributions to keeping communities safe in their law enforcement and Congressional careers. These four Congressmen embody the ethos of NSSF’s Real Solutions. Safer Communities.® campaign to ensure firearms remain beyond the reach of those who cannot be trusted to possess them while respecting and preserving Second Amendment rights.

“NSSF is proud to recognize these four Members of Congress who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting their communities – first while wearing a badge to enforce laws in their counties and presently as representatives of their districts in Congress,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “NSSF’s Real Solutions campaign focuses on firearm industry-led efforts to improve community safety by ensuring firearms remain beyond the reach of prohibited individuals and those suffering through suicidal ideations or a mental health crisis. These programs save lives, reduce crime and make our communities safer while respecting the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. These Congressmen live those values of service to protect and preserve life in our communities while guaranteeing constitutional rights.”

NSSF’s Real Solutions. Safer Communities. campaign creates safer communities through proven partnerships with law enforcement, elected officials and community leaders. The programs include:

· Project ChildSafe® – a partner program with law enforcement in all 50 states and five U.S. territories that has distributed over 40 million free firearm safety kits, including locking devices to ensure firearms are secured when not in use.

· Operation Secure Store® – a partner program with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to improve security at firearm retailers to deter firearm burglaries and robberies.

· Don’t Lie for the Other GuyTM – an ATF-partner program to warn the public against the crime of “straw purchasing” a firearm for someone who can’t legally do so on their own.

· FixNICS® – the firearm industry-led effort to ensure all disqualifying background information is submitted to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

· Suicide Prevention – NSSF’s partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to encourage gun owners to have a “brave conversation” and intervene before a moment of crisis to prevent suicide by firearm.

Congressman Rutherford introduced the NSSF-supported bipartisan Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) Protection Act, H.R. 2620, which would strengthen and enhance criminal penalties for thefts of firearms from federally licensed firearm retailers. This legislation sends a strong message to those violent criminals engaging in these illicit activities and helps provide for safer communities, assists law enforcement and protects the livelihoods of firearm retailers.

Hobie® Eyewear Floating Collection Delivers Value & Spares Loss

Hobie® Eyewear Floating Collection Delivers Value & Spares Loss

Oceanside, CA (May 17, 2023) – Little is more disheartening than inadvertently dropping a favored pair of sunglasses into a river or lake and helplessly watching style and sun protection sink out of sight. That’s why Hobie® Eyewear created an entire Floating Collection of fishing and outdoor lifestyle sunglasses.

“I tell everyone that if you haven’t lost a pair of sunglasses to the drink, then you haven’t spent enough time on the water. With our Floating Collection, you have peace of mind that one of your most crucial pieces of equipment will rise to the surface and stay with you on your next adventure,” said Dylan Coates, Marketing Manager for Hobie® Eyewear.

The sunglasses’ floatability stems from our proprietary blend of frame and lens materials. It is important to note that quality nor durability is not sacrificed for affordability and being lightweight. Hobie® Eyewear’s engineering, material choices, and understanding of eyewear allow for the creation of premium sunglasses that are light enough to float and can be sold at a surprising cost, with prices starting at $89.99.

“Like most fishermen or boaters, I’ve left many glasses at the bottom of the lake. Not only does it hurt your wallet, but it’s not great for the environment either, said Stephen Vaughan, Sr. Director of Product Development.

The Floating Collection prevents lost sunglasses from littering lakes and rivers, aligning with Hobie® Eyewear’s ongoing sustainability efforts.

“It can also put a real damper on your fishing day if you don’t have a spare pair. With our Floating Collection, these concerns are a thing of the past. That means less time squinting and more time fishing,” Vaughan said. “Furthermore, our floating glasses don’t sacrifice styling or functionality with bulky-looking frames or obnoxiously large air chambers like other brands. They look great on your face and just as beautiful when they’re sitting on the surface of the water instead of the bottom.”

The Hobie® Eyewear Floating Collection includes five frame designs – Monarch Float, Mojo Float, Bluefin Float, Coastal Float, and Mariposa Float – each with multiple lens color options.

Monarch Float sunglasses can be worn with or without removable side shields to block extra light or open peripheral views, depending on the situation. The Mojo Float models are extra-large, with a wrap-around design to block peripheral light. Bluefin Float, also a wrap-around style, is Hobie® Eyewear’s first XXL frame, creating an ideal fit for more prominent faces and maximizing protection. Coastal Float sunglasses offer style to match an outdoor lifestyle. Mariposa Float is Hobie® Eyewear’s first women’s floating frame. Mariposa Float models are large, designed to block peripheral light, and feature premium polarized nylon lenses.

These models are designed with sportsmen and women in mind and offer an outstanding choice for all outdoor adventures. Hobie® Eyewear Floating Collection sunglasses, like all Hobie® sunglasses, are backed by a consumer-friendly lifetime warranty.

Since 1982, Hobie® Eyewear has made being on the water easier and more enjoyable – pioneering a better, clearer, and more precise kind of vision. Merging expertly crafted designs with premium polarization, durability and innovative technologies has been at its core, following in the footsteps of visionary creator Hobie Alter. Hobie’s growing product catalog includes the ultra-light Floating Collection, HydroClean™ repellent lens coatings and Quick-Swap Interchange lenses to fit every outdoor enthusiast’s needs. Fisher Pen Company® Introduces Axiom Space® Branded Pens Ahead of the AX-2 Launch

Boulder City, NV (May 16, 2023) – Fisher Pen Company® products have always been known for supreme reliability and thoughtfully constructed designs. As the company is always looking for more ways to take the excellence of its pens to the next level, the brand also looks to partner with space exploration innovators. This is just what Fisher did by recently partnering with Axiom Space® to become the pen boarding the crewed AX-2 flight to the first international commercial space station. To commemorate this groundbreaking collaboration, Fisher introduces three new pens extending classic lines with Axiom branded logos ahead of takeoff.

Fisher Space Pen began collaborating with NIC Industries in 2022. In this ambitious project, NIC’s revolutionary Cerakote® Elite Series technology met Fisher’s classic M4 and Bullet Space Pen. With the success of the initial models in Matte Black, Tungsten, OD Green, Flat Dark Earth, and Black Cherry, Fisher presents its products in an exciting new Cerakote color this year.

Cerakote is an innovative coating method that creates a thin layer of ceramic and polymer on the surface to protect the material from corrosion and enhance its functionality. Across industries, Cerakote technology has proven to be superior to other coating methods for its corrosion resistance and temperature stability. Moreover, Cerakote comes in hundreds of beautiful colors that can make any surface more visually pleasing. With Cerakote, an unusual combination of exceptional performance and extraordinary visuals is achieved.

The Elite Series rivals Teflon® with unmatched abrasion, corrosion, and chemical resistance while giving this Bullet Space Pen a premium look and feel in an ultra-thin coating layer. Sacrificing durability and strength for aesthetics and feel is a non-issue within Fisher’s revolutionary new series of pens. The Elite Navy Cerakote Bullet Space Pen comes available in a classic design, and additionally with an attached matte black clip. Rest assured that your Elite Navy Cerakote Bullet Space Pen will last a lifetime and will look and feel great in your hand throughout.

Due to its convenient and seamless activation and versatility, the Cap-O-Matic pen has been the most popular among professionals working in a physically-involved, ever-moving, and fast-paced environment, such as first responders, adventurers, and law enforcement. Now offered in Elite Navy Cerakote, the rugged dependability of this timeless pen delivers longevity without sacrificing a great aesthetic. The Axiom branded logo is an added bonus for space enthusiasts, commemorating this new partnership between both brands ahead of many innovations to come.

Outside of the new Navy Elite Cerakote lineup, Fisher also introduces an updated version of the AG7 Astronaut Space Pen. For this project, Fisher has taken the time-tested classic and plated it in sleek black titanium nitride, increasing its resistance to scratching and giving it an intriguing, stealthy appearance while donning the Axiom Space logo. This is the exact pen being used by Axiom Space astronauts while on all their future missions. This new generation of the iconic AG7 Space Pen paves a path forward for everyday-carry and space travel enthusiasts.

With their compact sizes and timeless designs, these space pens are still beloved by everyday-carry enthusiasts. All write in extreme temperatures ranging from -30 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, through water and grease, from any angle, and in zero gravity.

The MQ-9A ER is designed with field-retrofittable capabilities such as wing-borne fuel pods and reinforced landing gear that extend the aircraft’s endurance to more than 30 hours while further increasing its operational flexibility. The aircraft provides long-endurance, persistent surveillance capabilities with Full-Motion Video and Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator/Maritime Mode Radar. An extremely reliable aircraft, MQ-9A ER is equipped with a fault-tolerant flight control system and a triple-redundant avionics system architecture. It is engineered to meet and exceed manned aircraft reliability standards.

HOME HOLSTERS AMMO CARRIERS BELTS FAQ

Galco’s Concealable 2.0 for the SIG-Sauer P365XL and Spectre Comp w/wo red dot!

May 2023

Now available for the SIG-Sauer P365XL and Spectre Comp w/wo red dot!

Galco’s Concealable™ 2.0 is a thoroughly modern version of the strongside belt holster!

Building on over four decades of success with the original Concealable, the 2.0 version is updated for 21st century gun carriers. Cut low at the front, the new design accommodates most popular carry-style red dot optics. The raised sweat guard protects the wearer’s body from the pistol, and the pistol from the body’s natural perspiration. A mild butt-forward cant offers an easy draw from behind the dominant-side hip while also enhancing concealment with larger defensive pistols.

The Concealable 2.0’s unique two-piece construction is contoured on the body side to the natural curve of the hip, keeping all the molding on the front of the holster, allowing for significantly more comfortable carry and a narrower profile than an ordinary pancake type holster.

Hand-molded to fit specific handguns, the Concealable 2.0 features a deeply hand-molded exterior for excellent retention properties and superior appearance, firing grip accessibility for speed, and double-stitched seams for long-lasting durability.

Constructed of premium steerhide in black or tan, it’s made to fit belts up to 1 1/2″.

PROOF Research® Greg Hamilton and Nightforce Optics Sean Murphy Win 1st Place in First Annual Legion Team Sniper Challenge

The team sniper challenge was conducted at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with all proceeds from the match donated to The Special Forces Association, Chapter 38.

Columbia Falls, Mont. (May 2023) –On the heels of their win at the Dark Concepts Real World Sniper Challenge at the end of April, PROOF Research®’s Weapons Test Specialist Greg Hamilton and Sean Murphy of Nightforce Optics took first place at the first annual Legion Team Sniper Challenge held May 6 – 7, 2023 at the 5th Special Forces Group’s range complex at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The unique Special Forces stress shoot format was designed with the help of a sports psychologist in order to induce chaotic situations while being tested on target recognition, ranging, wind calling, non-standard shooting positions, problem-solving, and stress management. Most of the organizers and range officers for the inaugural match are current or former Army Special Forces and seasoned long-range competitors combining decades of field experience to create this two-man, two-day match. Thirty-plus teams, with a mix of civilian and military snipers/instructors, participated.

Hamilton shot as the primary shooter with a Barrett MRAD and PROOF Research pre-fit steel barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor. Murphy shot the secondary .223 carbine with a PROOF Research 18” stainless steel barrel.

“The Legion Team Sniper Challenge was a fast-paced and challenging event that required thinking and adapting to be successful. Our rifles delivered a high level of repeatable performance that enabled us to hit targets quickly and precisely, giving us an edge in the match, resulting in our second consecutive win in less than two weeks,” Murphy stated at the end of the match.

PROOF Research and Nightforce Optics were sponsors of the event.

PROOF Research is a well-known brand within the precision rifle community and is one of the leading barrel brands used by champion competitors in the Precision Rifle Series (PRS) and National Rifle League (NRL). Developed to enhance mission success for our warfighters, PROOF Research’s carbon fiber barrels are designed for long-range accuracy, performance, and reliability under any environmental condition.

NSSF Praises Gov. DeSantis Signing Law Barring Tracking Codes for Firearm Retail Purchases

NSSF Praises Gov. DeSantis Signing Law Barring Tracking Codes for Firearm Retail Purchases

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for signing SB 214, a law that bars credit card companies from implementing a special Merchant Category Code (MCC) for credit card purchases at firearm retailers. Gov. DeSantis, and the Florida legislature, are ensuring that the privacy of customers at firearm retailers remains protected and is not collected to be used in an illegal backdoor firearm registry.

“Governor DeSantis is standing up against a ‘woke’ initiative borne from the efforts of antigun Wall Street banks and their gun control allies in the media to use lawful private transactions as a means to usher in gun control,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “No law-abiding American should be subjected to having their name and financial data being added to a government-accessible watchlist simply for exercising their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Governor DeSantis is ensuring that Floridians won’t be held captive by the radical ‘woke’ antigun agenda that seeks to weaponize credit cards in gun owners’ wallets against them. Gun owners should worry about what’s in their wallet, not who’s in their wallet.”

Florida’s SB 214 will ensure that the names of law-abiding firearm owners are not illegally recorded on a list or registry; prohibit a payment settlement entity, merchant acquiring entity or third party settlement organization from assigning a MCC classifying a merchant as a seller of firearms or ammunition; and authorize the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to investigate alleged violations of the law.

In late 2022, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) announced it would create a unique MCC, at the behest of Amalgamated Bank, which has been described as the Left’s Private Banker, that would allow credit card companies to monitor transactions at firearm retailers. Credit card companies suspended plans to implement the use of unique firearm retailer MCCs after significant opposition by NSSF and several state governments.

NSSF also thanks Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson for his leadership on this issue along with the bill sponsors, state Sen. Danny Burgess and state Rep. John Snyder.

Florida joins West Virginia, Mississippi and Idaho in enacting laws to protect firearm purchasers’ privacy when using credit cards at firearm retailers. Legislation similar to Florida’s law is pending in Congress.

SOF Week 2023: ANDURIL SENTRY A CONFIGURABLE INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM

Posted on Friday, 12 May, 2023 by twobirdsflyingpub

With the expanding role of the UAV and SUAV on the battlefield, it’s essential that the defense sector deliver configurable intrusion detection systems effective against land, sea and air threats. To that end ANDRUIL introduced the SENTRY system. Unique to SENTRY is the ability to be configured for all applications and theaters of operations. Sentry uses artificial intelligence to provide highly accurate, persistent autonomous awareness across land, sea and air. With an AI-enabled edge processing, continuous 360 pan / tilt and a variety of radars and sensors, Sentry can autonomously identify, detect and track objects of interest to bring increased security to borders, military bases, oil and gas pipelines, airports and other critical infrastructure.

The configuration depicted in the picture above is the company’s Long Range Sentry Tower. It uses a total of four continuous wave radar modules operating in the Ka frequency range. This array provides simultaneous 360-degree detection with sufficient resolution to detect and track Group 1 through Group 3 UAVs.

Group 1
Size: Small
Maximum Gross Takeoff Weight (MGTW) (lbs.): 0-20
Group 2
Size: Medium
Maximum Gross Takeoff Weight (MGTW) (lbs.): 21-55
Group 3
Size: Large
Maximum Gross Takeoff Weight (MGTW) (lbs.): <1320

The SENTRY system has a range of 2–4km for Group 1 and Group 2 threats and 15 km for Group 3 and larger threats. It’s powered via solar panels and when fully configured weighs approximately 1500 lbs..

The Compact Ready Vault model, the smaller of the two in the series, is sized for storing two pistols and up to three shotguns or rifles.

RAPiD Safe Ready Vaults use patented RFID lock-opening technology. Swiping an RFID-equipped wristband, key fob, or decal over the safe’s sensor instantly opens the vault door. A programmable digital keypad and mechanical key offer additional entry methods. An AC-powered lock with battery backup provides 24/7 protection and rapid access. Programming RFID locks add the convenience of opening multiple safes with the same tags.

The new RAPiD Safe Ready Vault with WiFi wirelessly sends entry notifications through the Hornady app to a phone or other portable device. This feature alerts owners to critical information about authorized (and unauthorized) vault entries.

The safe’s internal SQUARE-LOK™ walls create a customizable organizing system that allows the included gun racks and other SQUARE-LOK™ accessories to be mounted in numerous configurations to maximize storage. Add-on accessories compatible with SQUARE-LOK™ include Hornady Security LED lights, magnetic hooks, hygrometers, and dehumidifiers. A padded neoprene floor mat prevents slipping, allowing guns to be stored upright, while the coated gun racks keep long gun barrels and pistols spaced apart, preventing damage in storage.

Ready Vaults use heavy-duty steel construction and five hardened locking lugs engineered to withstand a barrage of attacks, including prying, dropping, picking, sawing, and targeted hinge attacks. Ready Vaults exceed ASTM international safety standards for security. Pre-drilled mounting holes allow additional security for mounting a heavy household object.

Hornady Security specializes in innovative firearms security storage solutions like RAPiD Safe Ready Vaults. The Ready Vault Series is ideal for the homeowner with a few pistols and long guns or someone who needs a secondary safe.

FIRST LOOK: SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 9MM 1911 OPERATOR

Mike Mills

It has been said the 1911 is the most perfectly designed pistol ever made. If you might question that, just consider the fact that today in the year 2023 people still talk about the legendary trigger, ergonomics and feel of a 1911. By my quick count, that’s more than 110 years. With that in mind, it’s almost crazy how popular they still currently are. Looks like John Moses Browning knew what he was doing.

Lynred breaks ground on new €85M industrial site for infrared technologies

Named Campus, Lynred’s new state-of-the-art industrial facility will meet growing market demand for advanced infrared technologies, notably for automotive sector, whilst bolstering French industrial sovereignty in field
Company’s production capacity set to undergo 50% increase by 2025; 100% by 2030

Grenoble, France, May 10, 2023 – Lynred, a leading global provider of high-quality infrared detectors for the aerospace, defense and commercial markets, today announces breaking ground on its new €85 million ($93.7M) industrial site to produce state-of-the-art infrared technologies. This is the biggest construction investment that the company has undertaken since it began manufacturing in 1986.
The project is financed by loans from the CIC bank and Bpifrance.
Lynred will double its current cleanroom footprint, totaling 8,200 m2 (88,264 ft2), primarily to meet two strategic objectives:

Obtain an optimal cleanroom cleanliness classification for its new high-performance products (hybrid detectors)
Increase the production capacity for its more compact industrial products (bolometers) used in multiple fields, including the automotive industry

This substantial investment will consolidate Lynred’s positioning as European market leader in infrared detection. It enables the company to play a key role within the European defense industrial and technological base, innately woven into strengthening French and European forces, for whom infrared detection is hugely important. With this, Lynred takes a step up in responding to the French government’s call to reorient European industry towards a ‘rearmament economy’ (FR).
To mark the ground breaking on May 10, Jean-François Delepau, chairman of Lynred, planted a holm oak tree.
“I am delighted to see our state-of-the-art industrial site come to life, consolidating our position as the second largest infrared detector manufacturer in the world. This will enable us to respond to growing market demand for next-generation infrared technologies, including in the automotive sector. It will allow us to contribute to bolstering France’s industrial sovereignty and, more generally, to improve our overall industrial performance. Above all, I wish to thank the Lynred teams involved in this major undertaking, as well as all our partners who have supported us, in particular our shareholders, Thales and Safran. Lynred is embarking on a new strategic pathway, both in terms of technology and dynamic growth,” said Mr Delepau.
The buildings are due for completion in the first trimester of 2025 and the site will be fully operational by the following October. This state-of-the-art industrial facility will comprise 8,200 m2 (88,264 ft2) of interconnected cleanrooms (twice the current surface area), 3,400 m2 (36,600ft2) of laboratories, a 2,300 m2 (24,756 ft2) logistics area, and a tertiary and technical area measuring 10,800 m2 (11,625 ft2).
Lynred is looking to increase its production capacity by 50% by 2025, in particular for its bolometer products, with a view to doubling capacity by 2030.
With these new cleanrooms the company will house all of its French production lines in a single location. This will enable synergies amongst core competencies and optimize production flows.
The new buildings will be located on the current Lynred site in Veurey-Voroize, situated within the Grenoble area. They have been designed to ensure optimized energy management and environmental performance: even with 13,600 m2 (146,400 ft2) under construction, the volume of permeable surface will increase. The company will decrease its carbon footprint by 33% and will install 1,800 m2 (19,375 ft2) of solar panels. Moreover, the site will accommodate an additional 320 trees and more than 100 charging stations for electric vehicles (cars and bicycles) will be put in place, with more cycle parking added.

About Lynred
