GA-ASI TEAMS WITH SMX TO WIN ARIES TASK ORDER AND CONTINUE AFRICOM SUPPORT

SAN DIEGO – 14 October 2022 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and its MQ-9A Remotely Piloted Aircraft will continue to support prime contractor SMX who was recently awarded a task order to provide U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) mission and intelligence analysis operations. GA-ASI is a major subcontractor to SMX for the AFRICOM Reconnaissance Intelligence Exploitation Services (ARIES) task order with an estimated value of $2.3 billion (inclusive of option periods).

The new award has a seven-year period of performance and will allow SMX and its teaming partners to extend their support through 2029 if all option periods are exercised. The contract will cover continued ISR services for AFRICOM using six MQ-9As produced by GA-ASI, which will make up three lines with two aircraft each. The MQ-9As are supplied by GA-ASI as part of a Company-Owned, Company-Operated (COCO) lease agreement. GA-ASI is the world’s leading manufacturer of RPA systems, radars, and electro-optic and related mission systems solutions. Team Blaser’s Haylyn Hanks Wins 2022 Ladies National Sporting Clays Championship

San Antonio, Texas (November 14, 2022) – Team Blaser’s Haylyn Hanks hit 279 out of 300 clays with her Blaser F3 to win the 2022 National Sporting Clays Championship in the Main Lady division, topping 211 competitors. Hosted by the National Sporting Clays Association, the event was held October 27-30, at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas.

Hanks is currently a sophomore at Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School where she is a business management major. She shoots on the university’s trap and skeet team and has been on Team Blaser for six years.

“Our entire company congratulates Haylyn on this impressive win,” said Jason Evans, CEO, Blaser Group. “She is not only an incredible competitor but a wonderful person and a joy to have on Team Blaser.”

Grand Island, NE (November 14, 2022) – Hornady makes reloading quick and easy with the Lock-N-Load® AP™ (Auto-Progressive) system. Set up the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP (Auto-Progressive) system and calibrate for the shooter’s specific load, then start filling the ammo cans quickly and reliably. This professional grade system helps let shooters reload hundreds of rounds per hour.

This automatic indexing, 5-station progressive press features Hornady’s patented Lock-N-Load bushing system. Dies lock in place with a twist, secured by six locking lugs. To change calibers, twist the die counterclockwise, remove it and insert the next preset Lock-N-Load die and bushing. Because they remain set in their Lock-N-Load bushings, the dies remain precisely as set – in perfect, solid alignment.

Pull once, and the shell plate delivers five cases upward to their respective position in the process. The auto indexing function moves the plate half a stage on the down stroke and half on the up stroke, making for ultra-smooth functioning compared to other presses that do all their indexing on the down stroke. Every pull of the handle delivers precise measures of powder, bullet seating, priming and ejection, resulting in a perfectly loaded cartridge.

Experienced reloaders will feel the difference the first time they use the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP. The unit’s Power-Pac Linkage System multiplies and accelerates leverage, giving reloaders more power with less effort, letting you smoothly reload without arm fatigue.

The 29-pound unit mounts quickly and securely to a favorite level bench with two 5/16-inch bolts. All reloaders need to begin are dies and shell plates. The quick-change bushing system allows easy transitions. Go from loading .223 Rem. to .45s in fewer than five minutes. A case-activated powder drop dispenses measured powder charge only when a cartridge case is present. The Lock-N-Load powder measure uses quick-change metering inserts that allow reloaders to switch from one powder to another with the push of a button. Add one to each die set for the ultimate in quick changeovers. Changing from large to small primers is similarly straightforward. Swap out the primer seater punch, the primer shuttle, and the feed tube.

Finished cartridges reliably eject with every stroke via the EZject™ System. If reloaders need to pull, replace or insert a case from the plate at any time, the case retainer spring provides fast, easy access at any point in the process.

EAST ALTON, IL (November 14, 2022) — The 2022 NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester, concluded in October at the NSCA National Championships. Team Winchester members lined the podium including Anthony Matarese, who claimed the yearlong points race. The 2022 NSCA National Champion, Zach Kienbaum, finished runner-up, while 2021 NSCA National Champion, Joe Fanizzi, locked up third on the podium.
On the Junior side, Fanizzi took top honors, while Connor Daniel was the Sub-Junior Champion. Kayla Wilgus also finished runner-up in the AA class points race.
The Winchester Ladies Cup coincides with the tour, and the ladies class champion was Karen Shedd, with Madison Sharpe and Haylyn Hanks taking second and third respectively.
The 2023 Championship Tour begins in March with the U.S. Open Sporting Clays in Tucson, AZ. Sport shooters of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. Since March 1997, Henry Repeating Arms has been building America’s favorite lever-action rifles, honoring the country’s military heroes, and proudly supporting the organizations dedicated to bettering the lives of those who have fought and served. The recent string of donations is preceded by several more that occurred throughout the Summer, with the company donating a total of $175,000 to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in June, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in July, the American Legion in August, the Shadow Warriors Project in September.

GA-ASI, SES AND HUGHES TEAM UP TO DEMONSTRATE NEXTGEN SATCOM ON MQ-9B SKYGUARDIAN®

Higher Data Rates Increase Security and Robustness for RPA

SAN DIEGO – 10 November 2022 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), SES and Hughes Network Systems (HUGHES) worked together to successfully demonstrate multi-orbit satellite communications (SATCOM) using a GA-ASI-supplied MQ-9B SkyGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). The demonstration took place on Oct. 20, 2022, at GA-ASI’s Desert Horizon flight operations facility in El Mirage, Calif. The higher data rate SATCOM transmission featured SES’s multi-orbit satellite communications service leveraging high-throughput, low-latency Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Geostationary (GEO) fleet, and was powered by a Hughes HM series software-defined modem and Hughes Resource Management System.

“This demonstration proves the importance of next generation SATCOM for operators of our aircraft,” said GA-ASI Senior Vice President for MQ-9 Systems, Fred Darlington. “As we expand into new and more intricate payloads for our RPA, we’ll require higher data rates that provide the bandwidth, security and robustness to operate our sensors.”

The demonstration used SES’s O3b MEO system that provides fiber-like carrier-grade performance, scalability, and resilience that set the path to widely leveraging open architectures and achieving network sovereignty. SES’s multi-orbit fleet that delivers global coverage, high-throughput, low-latency and increased levels of security, was leveraged to show how unmanned aircraft, such as the GA-ASI MQ-9 series, can maintain high-workload, mission-critical connectivity and resiliency, even in contested environments. During the demonstration, the connectivity service seamlessly roamed between O3b MEO and AMC-15 GEO satellites. Later this year, SES will be launching its second-generation MEO system, O3b mPOWER, to further support governments through unprecedented performance, waveform-agnostic service and enabling network sovereignty.

“We are very proud of our partnership developed over the years between SES, GA-ASI and their government customers. Innovation is the key in supporting transformational changes in the ISR services, and this demonstration is one more example of how the industry can work together to bring something special to market,” said Will Tong, Vice President of Strategic Government Initiatives and head of the Aero ISR market at SES. “Together with GA-ASI, we were able to prove out new levels of secure, flexible and high-performance multi-orbit services for ISR, with 10x performance on a significantly smaller form factor, with increased resiliency and security for the end users.”

Integrated onto the MQ-9B, the milspec Hughes HM System modem (HM400) powered the MEO and GEO SATCOM with Low-Probability of Intercept/Low Probability of Detection (LPI/LPD) modes for the resiliency necessary in congested and contested environments. Together with the Hughes Resource Management System, the HM400 automatically optimized and switched satellite signals smoothly and within seconds, demonstrating a near real-time capability that enhances the military’s Primary Alternative Contingency Emergency (PACE) planning.
