NSSF to Host 2nd Annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, will host several governors at SHOT Show® 2023 to speak about the importance of the firearm industry to their state, efforts to attract firearm and ammunition-related businesses, and the benefits of firearm-related businesses to their state economies.
NSSF’s Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), will take place at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas from Jan. 17-20, 2023. The Governors’ Forum, hosted by NSSF’s Lawrence G. Keane, Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs and General Counsel, will take place in the Murano Room, 3rd Floor of the Venetian Expo from 1-2 p.m. (Pacific Time), Jan. 18, 2022. The forum is open to industry media and will include questions from attendees. No RSVP is required.
“This unique opportunity to hear directly from governors of the importance of the firearm industry and issues important to them was a resounding success last year. We wanted to create another event to welcome these governors to speak directly with show attendees and industry media,” said Lawrence G. NSSF Rejects City of Buffalo’s Frivolous Lawsuit Against Firearm Industry Members
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, rejects the false premise of the lawsuit brought by the City of Buffalo against several firearm manufacturers, distributors and retailers. The accusations are without any legal merit and are an obvious attempt by city officials to deflect attention and shift responsibility for their failure to enforce the law against criminals by casting blame on a Constitutionally-protected and most highly-regulated industry in the nation today.
“The junk lawsuit by the City of Buffalo attempts to deflect attention for illegal activities by criminals by laying blame at the feet of the firearm industry, which is following the law,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “This is no different from the frivolous and unsuccessful lawsuits filed against firearm manufacturers in the late 1990s and early 2000s by crime-ridden big-city mayors across the country. Those lawsuits failed because they were legally and factually baseless. But they did, however, result in Congress passing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act in 2005 by a broad bipartisan margin.”
The recently passed New York public nuisance law, upon which Buffalo’s lawsuit is based, is a transparent and unconstitutional attempt to defy the will of Congress. A lawsuit challenging the Constitutionality of the New York public nuisance law is now before a federal appellate court in Manhattan.
New York’s “public nuisance” law would subject members of the firearm industry to civil lawsuits for the criminal misuse or unlawful possession of firearms in New York that were lawfully sold after a criminal background check, that the industry supports. This was the same failed tactic ushered in by New York’s disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo when he served as Housing and Urban Development Secretary in the Clinton administration and attempted to use these lawsuits to impose on the firearm industry a “death by a thousand cuts.” The public nuisance law was signed by the former governor shortly before he was driven from office.
This lawsuit also ignores that NSSF, The Firearm Industry Trade Association representing firearm manufacturers, distributors and retailers, proactively works hand-in-hand with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to prevent illegal “straw” purchases of firearms and firearm thefts from retailers. That is just one of the multiple firearm safety efforts the firearm industry’s Real Solutions. Safer Communities® campaign, which also includes safe storage of firearms in the home, suicide prevention and improving background checks for lawful firearm purchases.
New York’s law and this lawsuit distort principles of liability clearly established as bedrock principles of Tort Law. The bipartisan 2005 Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which has been upheld as Constitutional by U.S. Courts of Appeal, specifically forbids these lawsuits.

NSSF Denounces U.S. Senate Confirmation of Operation Choke Point Architect to FDIC
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, condemned the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Martin J. Gruenberg as Chair and Member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Gruenberg led the FDIC from 2011-2018, during which the Obama administration conducted the illegal Operation Choke Point scheme to deny banking services to firearm businesses. NSSF opposed his confirmation in the strongest terms as he has already demonstrated a lack of respect for the law and unparalleled disdain for the Constitutionally-protected firearm and ammunition industry.
“The Senate’s confirmation of Martin Gruenberg is a flagrant disregard for his role in illegally using the levers of government to force discriminatory banking policies on the firearm and ammunition industry,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “His culpability in shepherding this illegal operation was not only previously investigated by Congress but was also highlighted by Senate Banking Committee Republicans. Mr. Gruenberg’s leading role in creating, administering and punishing the firearm industry through illegal means simply because he, President Barack Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder found this industry politically-disfavored clearly disqualified him from being reconfirmed to a position of public trust.”
Under the Obama administration, an initiative called “Operation Choke Point” was launched by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Department of Justice (DOJ) to stop financial institutions from offering services to some regulated industries in an attempt to choke off banking services. This operation, which represented an abuse of the agencies’ statutory authority, was first aimed at non-depository lenders (so-called payday lenders) but expanded to ammunition and firearms sales, tobacco sales and pharmaceutical sales, among other industries.
The goal of the operation was to coerce banks, third-party payment processors and other financial institutions into closing or denying business accounts of clients that the FDIC has classified as “high risk” or as a “reputational risk” for the financial institution. According to a House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform investigation, the FDIC, “equated legitimate and regulated activities such as coin dealers and firearms and ammunition sales with inherently pernicious or patently illegal activities such as Ponzi schemes, debt consolidation scams, and drug paraphernalia.”
The FDIC included federally licensed firearm retailers and other companies in the firearm and ammunition industry – some of the most heavily regulated businesses in the country – on this list of risky businesses without any evidence or justification. In fact, in its guidance to banks, the agency “justified itself by claiming that the categories had been previously ‘noted by the FDIC.”
Working with the DOJ, the FDIC guidance targeting the law-abiding firearms industry and others was included on DOJ subpoenas. This sent a message to banks that they were to remove those clients from their services or risk a federal investigation.

N.D. ANG’S 178TH ATKS NAMED RPA SQUADRON OF THE YEAR
SAN DIEGO – 16 December 2022 – The North Dakota Air National Guard’s 178th Attack Squadron (ATKS) was recognized as the General Atomics Remotely Piloted Aircraft Squadron of the Year at an event hosted by the Mitchell Institute on Dec. 9, 2022, at the Fargo Air Museum in Fargo, N.D. The award is given annually to the Squadron that distinguishes itself through its deployment of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) in meritorious service. The 178th was selected from a field of more than 30 RPA squadrons and it’s the first time an ANG Squadron has received the award.
In 2021, the 178th Attack Squadron continued to solidify their position as the trail-blazing MQ-9 unit by leading in innovation, capabilities, and modernization. The “Happy Hooligans” have completed their unprecedented 15th straight year of 24/7/365 combat operations while supporting both U.S. Central Command and U.S. Africa Command. They have distinguished themselves in current combat operations while advocating for MQ-9A relevancy in strategic competition.
Additionally, the Hooligans have accelerated change across the Joint Force via innovative Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) and live-fly MQ-9 training. Twenty-one supported units from each of the four services, operating in three different Combatant Commands, have partnered with the 178th to advance readiness and improve RPA employment. Furthermore, the Happy Hooligans are the enterprise leader as the producers of the most Live-fly Continuation Training. NSSF Releases New ‘Partner with a Payer’ Videos Highlighting Industry, State Agencies and USFWS Cooperation on Conservation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has added two new videos to its “Partner with a Payer®” resource library highlighting the cooperative efforts of the firearm industry, state wildlife agencies and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) to help sustain the nation’s natural resources.
Partner with a Payer is an initiative of USFWS. NSSF and industry companies participate in the program to strengthen ties between all excise tax-paying manufacturers—firearms and ammunition, archery equipment, marine and sportfishing equipment—and the state agencies that use these funds to conserve wildlife and habitat. These excise-tax dollars are placed in the federal Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Fund for annual distribution to the states.
The seventh video in the Partner with a Payer series features a tour of the Nosler, Inc. Ammunition Facility and focuses on the Pacific Northwest Health Laboratories as an example of more than 35 research facilities across the country that monitor the health of all wildlife and develop responses to emerging diseases. Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Funds support these labs and “help us do everything,” said one scientist, paying for research positions, lab buildings and equipment, field testing supplies and much more.
The eighth video in the series focuses on the Federal Premium Ammunition company, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Pittman-Robertson excise taxes that are applied to all sporting arms and ammunition in support of wildlife and habitat conservation.
Since 1937, when the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act was enacted (known as the Pittman-Robertson Act), the manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and archery equipment have paid more than $15.8 billion on their products for the benefit of wildlife conservation and restoration, hunter education and development of shooting ranges. Since 1939, Wildlife Restoration and Hunter Education Apportionments adjusted for inflation through the year 2021 equate to $22.5 billion.
Tom Decker, Wildlife Biologist, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, has said these excise taxes have literally changed the nature of America. Through the Partner with a Payer program, players in every part of the story are gaining a new appreciation of what their partners in this wildlife and conservation effort do to make it work.
NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi said, “It is an incredible model of conservation funding that benefits all Americans, not just hunters and target shooters, and helps ensure sustainable wildlife and habitat for future generations. Our industry’s contributions to this program are something we’ve long been proud of, and we want the employees of companies and state agencies to be also, which is why we’re proud to be involved with the Partner with a Payer program.”
Partner with a Payer arranges for industry employees to see conservation science taking place in the field, such as at black bear research projects. “These connections between industry professionals and state agency scientists and researchers build long-lasting appreciation for each other’s work and also the funding that makes so much of what we enjoy possible,” said Bartozzi.

Hornady’s Lock-N-Load® Power Case Prep Center provides all-around versatility, saving time and bench space by rolling all necessary case preparation functions into one unit. The powerful trimmer is micro-adjustable to .001 (one-thousandth) of an inch and capable of trimming cases measuring from ¾-inch to 3¼-inch. Precision trimming often results in minuscule metal shavings. Cultivated meat, also known as cultured meat, is genuine animal meat (including seafood and organ meats) produced by cultivating animal cells directly in a lab. This production method eliminates the need to raise and farm animals for food. Cultivated meat is lab grown meat there is no animal cells involved. Are you digesting this?
What is the benefit?
Traditional beef production makes lots of methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide, so-called greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Lab-grown meat could reduce these emissions significantly.

BELIEVER is making an initial planned investment of $123.35 million in Wilson County, located approximately 40 miles east of Raleigh, N.C., and includes plans to create over 100 new jobs over the next three years. The facility will utilize proprietary, custom-made bioreactors that can achieve high cell densities and yield based on patented processes. In addition, the state-of-the-art facility will feature an R&D and innovation center, a contemporary kitchen to host tastings, as well as offices and conference room spaces.

This special edition of 250 pcs, designed for the 25th anniversary of the brand, maintains the shape of the original knife but with up-to-date materials and finishing.
K1 has a modified spear point blade, whose tip is a combination of tanto style at 40° and a more traditional European style, resulting in a very sharp but solid hybrid. It also has a sharp false edge that makes it very effective at thrusting. It has a high bevel that allows a very efficient cutting edge.
The blade can be recognized for its hole on the blade, which makes the knife significantly lighter without compromising its sturdiness. It is made of Böhler N690, heat treated at 58 HRC, to reach the best combination of edge retention and resistance. It has a satin finish and a flat grind.
The Anticorodal anodized handle has a lighter design compared to its original – a design that characterises Extrema Ratio knives – but it keeps the arched shape and the lateral “bump” of the K1, allowing an excellent grip in bot saber and reverse mode.
The bottom part of the handle is curved to create a sort of hook for easily and rapidly pulling the knife out of the sheath, whereas the pommel stick out as a triangular glass breaker that can become a lanyard hole.
The leather sheath is the exact replica of the original, retaining its features of rapid and easy extraction. The knife can be carried upwards underarm, horizontally with a belt or tactically in the leg.
