The TT Medic Transporter is a transportable pouch panel to extend the TT Medic Range.

Knoxville, Tenn. (January 2023) – Tasmanian Tiger®, a tactical nylon line of products distributed exclusively for the US market by Proforce Equipment, Inc., has expanded its Medic product line with the addition of the TT Medic Transporter. It is a transportable pouch panel that contains one large panel (41.3×20.8 in/105x53cm) that can divide into four smaller panels. The pouches include one dump pouch, three transparent pouches with zip compartments, and five transparent pouches. Labels include two BREATHING, two BLEEDING, two AIRWAY, two IV/IO, one MEDICATION, and one HYPOTHERMIA.

The TT Medic Transporter features four durable handles with a robust no. 10 zipper. There are three MOLLE hook & loop adapters to secure hook & loop pouches. The transparent pouches are all detachable and can be interchanged. Some of the transparent pouches have two compartments and various loops. The large, long pockets on the backs of the panels all have attachments to secure to tents, vehicles, and more.

The Italian Navy orders 36 IDV Amphibious Armoured Vehicles (VBA)

IDV will be supplying 36 Amphibious Armored Vehicles (VBA) Personnel Carrier to the Italian Navy. IDV’s state-of-the-art amphibious vehicles will reinforce the fleet of San Marco Marina Brigade (BMSM) and will effectively increase the Sea Projection National Capability.

On December 22^nd, the Directorate of Land Armaments signed a contract with IDV for the supply of 36 Amphibious Armored Vehicles (VBA) to the Italian Navy. The contract comes as part of the program to renew and extend the vehicles’ fleet for National Defence, aimed at increasing the Sea Projection National Capability of the Italian Navy.

The VBA is an 8×8 all-terrain vehicle, capable of being launched and recovered from an amphibious vessel in open ocean and offering at the same time excellent mobility and high-level ballistic, anti-mine and anti-IED protection.

The 700HP FPT Cursor 16 engine, combined with an automatic 7-speed gearbox and an H-driveline, derived from the Centauro and the VBM Freccia, provides the VBA with a maximum on-road speed of 105 km/h, while the two rear-mounted hydraulic propellers guarantee the navigation beyond “Sea State 3” and a top speed of 6 knots.

The platform is equipped with a HITROLE Light remote turret, supplied by Leonardo, with a 12.7mm caliber weapon and latest generation C4 systems.

The VBA for the Italian Navy is based on the SUPERAV 8×8, the amphibious vehicle platform used for the US Marine Corps’ ACV (Amphibious Combat Vehicle), which is provided in partnership with BAE Systems.

GA-ASI Flies Multiple Missions Using Artificially Intelligent Pilots

GA-ASI FLIES MULTIPLE MISSIONS USING ARTIFICIALLY INTELLIGENT PILOTS
AI Flights Featuring Avenger® Advance CCA Ecosystem

SAN DIEGO – 11 January 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) further advanced its Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) ecosystem by flying three unique missions with artificially intelligent (AI) pilots on an operationally relevant Open Mission System (OMS) software stack. A company-owned Avenger® Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) was paired with “digital twin” aircraft to autonomously conduct Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) multi-objective collaborative combat missions. The flights, which took place on Dec. 14, 2022, from GA-ASI’s Desert Horizons flight operations facility in El Mirage, Calif., demonstrate the company’s commitment to maturing its CCA ecosystem for Autonomous Collaborative Platform (ACP) UAS using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This provides a new and innovative tool for next-generation military platforms to make decisions under dynamic and uncertain real-world conditions.

The flight used GA-ASI’s novel Reinforcement Learning (RL) architecture built using agile software development methodology and industry-standard tools such as Docker and Kubernetes to develop and validate three deep learning RL algorithms in an operationally relevant environment. RL agents demonstrated single, multi, and hierarchical agent behaviors. The single agent RL model successfully navigated the live plane while dynamically avoiding threats to accomplish its mission. Multi-agent RL models flew a live and virtual Avenger to collaboratively chase a target while avoiding threats. The hierarchical RL agent used sensor information to select courses of action based on its understanding of the world state. This demonstrated the AI pilot’s ability to successfully process and act on live real-time information independently of a human operator to make mission-critical decisions at the speed of relevance.

For the missions, real-time updates were made to flight paths based on fused sensor tracks provided by virtual Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) models, and RL agent missions were dynamically selected by operators while the plane was airborne, demonstrating live, effective human-machine teaming for autonomy. This live operational data describing AI pilot performance will be fed into GA-ASI’s rapid retaining process for analysis and used to refine future agent performance.

“The concepts demonstrated by these flights set the standard for operationally relevant mission systems capabilities on CCA platforms,” said GA-ASI Senior Director of Advanced Programs Michael Atwood. “The combination of airborne high-performance computing, sensor fusion, human-machine teaming, and AI pilots making decisions at the speed of relevance shows how quickly GA-ASI’s capabilities are maturing as we move to operationalize autonomy for CCAs.”

The team used a government-furnished Collaborative Operations in Denied Environment (CODE) autonomy engine and the government-standard OMS messaging protocol to enable communication between the RL agents and the LVC system. Utilizing government standards such as OMS will make rapid integration of autonomy for CCAs possible.

In addition, GA-ASI used a General Dynamics Mission Systems’ EMC2 to run the autonomy architecture. EMC2 is an open architecture Multi-Function Processor with multi-level security infrastructure that is used to host the autonomy architecture, demonstrating the ability to bring high-performance computing resources to CCAs to perform quickly tailorable mission sets depending on the operational environment.

This is another in an ongoing series of autonomous flights performed using internal research and development funding to prove out important AI/ML concepts for UAS.

The features and benefits of this new sight are voluminous. The built-in photo sensor adjusts the brightness of the 3mm red dot automatically depending on the outside/inside light conditions. There is no rubber push button which easily damages during extended usage; the device is all-the-time ready to go. A built-in motion sensor will switch the device automatically on or off, extending battery life up to an astounding 25,000 hours. Also, the battery is placed in a sealed drawer on the side of the device, making it unnecessary to dismount the device and zero it again when changing the battery. The battery drawer can be removed without tools, and the time to change the battery is less than one minute. Also, the windage and elevation turrets offer tactile clicks by turning and adjusting them with a small tool. The user can feel each of the clicks which ensures the adjustments needed for precise zeroing.

Measuring just .90 inches tall x 1.04 inches wide x 1.6 inches long (23×26.5×40.6 mm) and weighing a scant 0.78 oz. (22 grams) – nearly 15 percent less than comparable sights — the GPO Spectra Pistol Dot Sight will mate with virtually any modern semiautomatic handgun, or it comes with a picatinny rail mount for any modular sporting rifle. The polymer lens measures 0.87 x 0.63 inches (22 x 16 mm). It features a black anodized aluminum housing, is fully waterproof, and is powered by a single CR1632 battery.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo to Join NSSF’s 2nd Annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is proud to announce that Nevada’s Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo will join the 2nd Annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show® 2023.

NSSF welcomes Gov. Lombardo along with several other governors to speak about the importance of the firearm industry to their states, efforts to attract firearm and ammunition-related businesses, and the benefits of firearm-related businesses to their state economies.

NSSF’s Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), will take place at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas from Jan. 17-20, 2023. The Governors’ Forum, hosted by NSSF’s Lawrence G. Keane, Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs and General Counsel, will take place in the Murano Room, 3rd Floor of the Venetian Expo from 1-2 p.m. (Pacific Time), Jan. 18, 2022. The forum is open to industry media and will include questions from attendees. No RSVP is required.

“This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from governors of the importance of the firearm industry and issues important to them and was a resounding success last year. We wanted to create another event to welcome these governors to speak directly with show attendees and industry media,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF SVP & General Counsel. “NSSF has regularly welcomed governors, but this is a truly special chance to gather these governors in one space to speak about the importance of a growing and vibrant firearm industry to their states.”

· Sig Sauer established ammunition production in Jacksonville in 2017 and recently announced it would expand production.

· Fiocchi Ammunition announced in 2020 it was establishing production in Little Rock.

· Florida

· Dark Storm Industries is relocating production from Oakdale, N.Y. to Titusville, Fla.

· Georgia

· Norma Precision Ammunition announced in 2022 it was establishing a U.S. headquarters, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution presence in Garden City, Ga.

· Remington Firearms announced the company will establish a new headquarters and expand production in LaGrange.

· Taurus USA moved to Bainbridge, Ga., in 2019 from Florida.

· Check-Mate Industries moved from Babylon, N.Y. to Thomasville in 2018.

· Iowa

· Les Baer moved from restrictive Illinois to LeClaire, Iowa, in 2007.

· Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT) left Illinois after 40 years to relocate to Iowa in 2019.

· Mississippi

· Olin Corporation’s Winchester Ammunition moved most production from East Alton, Ill., to Oxford in 2011.

· North Carolina

· Sturm, Ruger and Co. expanded production in Mayodan in 2013.

· Pennsylvania

· Kahr Arms moved their headquarters to Greely, Penn., from New York after the state rushed through passage of the SAFE Act.

· South Carolina

· American Tactical Imports relocated 100 jobs and its manufacturing from Rochester, N.Y., to Summerville, S.C., in 2013.

· PTR Industries l eft Connecticut for Aynor in 2013, where it set up shop.

· Tennessee

· Smith &Wesson announced it is establishing a new headquarters and production facilities in Marysville, Tenn.

· Beretta moved firearm production and engineering and design to Gallatin, Tenn., from Maryland in 2015 over concerns of increasingly strict gun control legislation.

· Texas

· Mossberg expanded production in Eagle Pass, Texas, in 2013, instead of growing its New Haven, Conn., plant.

· Colt Competition moved from Canby, Ore., to Breckenridge, Texas, in 2013.

· Wyoming

· Magpul Industries left Boulder, Colo., after the state passed magazine restrictions and moved production to Laramie, Wyo.

· Weatherby Inc.’s Adam Weatherby announced at SHOT Show in 2018 he was moving the company from California to Sheridan, Wyo.

· Accessories maker HiViz announced in 2013 they were leaving Fort Collins, Colo., over restrictive gun control legislation to Laramie.

· Stag Arms announced in 2019 they were opening their new facility in Cheyenne, Wyo., after leaving their former headquarters in New Britain, Conn.

· Kel-Tec announced plans in 2022 to expand production and bring 250 jobs to Rock Springs, Wyo.
