LAND FORCES MOVES TO MELBOURNE FOR 2024 AND BEYOND

The LAND FORCES International Land Defense Exposition, Australia’s premier land defense industry event, will move to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) for 2024 and beyond, as the event continues to grow.

Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2021 and 2022, LAND FORCES is the region’s largest land defense exposition, hosting 810 participating exhibitor companies and more than 20,000 trade visits over its three days in October 2022.

LAND FORCES has continued to grow with each presentation, selling out all available exhibition space in 2022 and prompting the move to Melbourne’s MCEC to accommodate growing interest in the planned LAND FORCES 2024. The first MCEC event is set for 11-13 September 2024.

Trial Operation Using SeaGuardian® RPA Scheduled to Begin in April 2023

SAN DIEGO – 27 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), the global leader in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), is pleased to be selected to support the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Medium-Altitude, Long-Endurance (MALE) RPAS Trial Operation Project. The project will feature GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SeaGuardian® and will begin in April 2023.

SeaGuardian will be used to conduct various tests to review adaptability to support JMSDF’s manned-unmanned teaming missions and its level of manpower reduction. The Japanese government announced that Japan Coast Guard and JMSDF will be exchanging the data obtained by the MQ-9Bs operated for each of the government’s branches.

“We’re pleased to support the JMSDF’s trial operation with our SeaGuardian UAS,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We know there is a need in Japan and worldwide for affordable long-endurance airborne surveillance in the maritime domain.”

SeaGuardian features a multi-mode maritime surface-search radar with an Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imaging mode, an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, and a High-Definition – Full-Motion Video sensor equipped with optical and infrared cameras. This sensor suite enables real-time detection and identification of surface vessels over thousands of square nautical miles and provides automatic tracking of maritime targets and correlation of AIS transmitters with radar tracks.

SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian® are revolutionizing the long-endurance RPAS market by providing true all-weather capability and are built to achieve Type Certification based on STANAG-4671 (NATO standard) airworthiness compliance. Today, the American Suppressor Association Foundation (ASA-F) and Silencer Shop helped file a lawsuit against the State of Illinois, alleging that Illinois’ ban on suppressor ownership and possession is an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment.

“The American Suppressor Association Foundation has always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding Americans to possess and own suppressors. After last summer’s Bruen ruling, we knew it was time to get to work on a case that would apply the Second Amendment’s protections to the States,” said Knox Williams, ASA-F’s Executive Director.
“This case argues that suppressors are covered by the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms, and that Illinois’ flat-out ban on suppressor ownership is therefore unconstitutional,” said Chris Boeck, ASA-F Board Member and General Counsel of Silencer Shop. “We’re optimistic the courts will agree with our interpretation, and extend the right to own suppressors to the people of Illinois. Suppressors offer critical hearing protection, reduce recoil, and improve accuracy. They facilitate communication and situational awareness while hunting, at the range, and during urgent moments of self-defense. They make firearms safer.”
Williams continued, “the standard of review laid out by the Supreme Court in its Bruen decision last summer requires Illinois to justify its ban on suppressor ownership by showing that the ban is consistent with ‘the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.’ Since there has never been a nationwide ban on suppressor ownership, and since suppressors are neither dangerous nor unusual, we are confident that Illinois will not be able to justify its ban to the court.”
Illinois’ ban on suppressors is on borrowed time. ASA-F and Silencer Shop are confident that this lawsuit will open up the door to legal suppressor ownership in the Prairie State.

Validation Flight Satisfies the Cold Weather Operational Capability
Needs for Nordic Countries

SAN DIEGO – 24 February 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) successfully performed Cold Weather Validation (CWV) using a company-owned MQ-9B SkyGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) in late Jan./early Feb. 2023, adding to the cold weather experience of the MQ-9 family of systems. The system’s ground servicing actions, maneuvers, and flights were based out of GA-ASI’s Flight Test and Training Center (FTTC) in Grand Forks, N.D. SkyGuardian is being proposed to multiple Nordic countries for their Defence and Security needs. The CWV flight test widens and accelerates the global operational implementation for SkyGuardian, especially for countries that need to operate in cold conditions.

To prepare for the CWV, SkyGuardian was put in a “cold soak” that kept the aircraft at a temperature well below -21°C/-5°F for 12 hours, then prepared for ground maneuvers and flight through a de-icing process using de-icing and anti-icing fluids. In a second scenario, SkyGuardian transitioned from a climate-controlled hangar to engine start and system checks under basic cold conditions (temperature below -21°C/ -5°F ambient air). For the first flight, the outside temperature was below -21°C/-5°F. All scenarios were successfully and consistently conducted in impressive time, relying on standard de-icing and anti-icing procedures, fluids, and support equipment, a testament to the systems’ high readiness and responsiveness.

“Among the many transformative features of our MQ-9B line of RPA is the aircraft’s ability to perform in extreme temperatures,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We welcome the cold weather operational capability requirements from Nordic countries, as the MQ-9B is built for all-weather global missions, and we’re thrilled to have MQ-9B perform so impressively under these demanding cold conditions. The CWV, coupled with our recent Low Earth Orbit (LEO) SATCOM flight tests, demonstrate how our aircraft can successfully perform missions in the Arctic region, which is becoming a clear security priority for NORAD and NATO.”

GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian® are revolutionizing the long-endurance RPAS market by providing all-weather capability and certification, with full compliance with STANAG-4671 (NATO UAS airworthiness standard). This feature, along with our operationally proven, collision-avoidance radar, enables flexible operations in civil airspace.

In addition to the Nordic countries, SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian have garnered significant interest from customers throughout the world. The UK Ministry of Defence selected MQ-9B SkyGuardian for its Protector program, and the Belgian Ministry of Defense signed a contract for SkyGuardian. The TRX Bronco Hunter uses the Black Creek TRX Short action, which can be chambered in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor. It is guaranteed to shoot 1 MOA with suggested commercial ammunition and is fitted with a TriggerTech REM700 field trigger, making it one of the smoothest shooting rifles available in its class.
The MRX Bronco, on the other hand, is a versatile, compact rifle that is ideal for range shooting and small game hunting. It features a 16.5 inch, medium weight barrel and a M-LOK compatible handguard. The rifle feeds from AR15 magazines and can be chambered in 300BLK, 7.62×39 or 5.56.. The MRX Bronco is fitted with a TriggerTech REM700 field trigger and is guaranteed to shoot 1.2 MOA with suggested commercial ammunition.The MRX Bronco comes with a collapsible PDS (Personal Defense System) stock for easy on the range adjustment.

EAST ALTON, IL (February 22, 2023) — Team Winchester made its mark with an elite showing at the recent Jack Link’s Cup held at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, Florida, with strong performances from Desi Edmunds and Connor Daniel.
The event hosted more than 950 top sporting clays shooters from 10 different countries.
Edmunds, showed why she remains one of the top female competitors in the country racking up an amazing four, first place finishes in the following categories: Ladies North Prelim Champion, Ladies FITASC Champion, Red Prelim Lady Champion, and Blue Prelim Lady Champion.
Connor Daniel took home top honors in the Junior FITASC class and the Open FITASC event, an amazing accomplishment given Daniel is only 15 years old. Daniel also claimed Runner-Up in the Sub-Junior Main Event while Kayla Wilgus claimed third.
Team Winchester Captain Zach Kienbaum claimed the 5-Stand event, as well as finishing behind Daniel to claim Runner-Up in FITASC. Eric Harvey placed third in the Main Event.
