TROPHY APS SELECTED FOR LEOPARD 2 A8 MBT CONFIGURATION
Trophy APS selected as the baseline APS of the new Leopard 2 A8 MBT configuration with first contracts awarded for Germany and Norway
Frankfurt, September 6th 2023 – EuroTrophy GmbH announces that it has been awarded a contract from KNDS (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems) for the Leopard 2 A8 programs for Germany and Norway. KNDS is the result of the association of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter, based in Germany and France and forming the European leader in Land Defense systems. The active protection system Trophy has been selected by KNDS as part of its new standard configuration defined as “Leopard 2 A8.”
With this achievement, Trophy has become the most successful active protection system integrated on Western Main Battle Tanks including Leopard 2, Abrams M1 and Merkava IV, as well as lighter platforms such as the Namer APC and other wheeled and tracked IFVs.
During February 2023, the Norwegian Defense Materiel Agency (NDMA) had commissioned KNDS with the delivery of 54 Leopard 2 A8 Main Battle Tanks, all to be equipped with the Trophy active protection system. Furthermore, in May 2023, the Federal Acquisition Office of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) has signed a framework agreement with KMW for the delivery of up to 123 Leopard 2 in A8 standard configuration.

BLM Announces $3.5 million partnership with Mule Deer Foundation
Clearfield, Utah (September 6, 2023): The Bureau of Land Management joined partner organizations yesterday to announce Inflation Reduction Act investments and collaborations for six large-scale restoration and conservation efforts.
BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning was joined by leaders of the Mule Deer Foundation, and Trout Unlimited to make the announcement and share details about how the investments will help local western communities. This includes funding for potential projects in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Steve Belinda, Chief Conservation Officer, for the Mule Deer Foundation, said “MDF has enjoyed a meaningful partnership with BLM for many decades now and this continuations will allow MDF to move forward with landscape scale habitat work which will have broad reaching benefits to both communities and animal species”. Mr. Belinda went on to say “the organization is looking at “multiple places” to conduct projects across southern Utah, the Utah-Idaho border, and Colorado to help mule deer herds in the area. These would be in coordination with federal, state, and tribal organizations, as well as private landowners”.
As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, these partnerships will help BLM implement critical conservation projects in sagebrush, forest, grassland, desert, and aquatic ecosystems through a collaborative approach with Tribes, States, and other partners. The investments will leverage additional funding, connect to local communities, and ensure the long-term success of restoration efforts on public lands.
The Inflation Reduction Act provides funding to address driving issues around the wildfire crisis and to establish actions to increase resiliency in habitats in the face of climate change. MDF will partner with BLM through our Priority Herds and Landscapes Initiative which will help reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires and increase habitat functionality for mule deer and other species that rely on sagebrush ecosystems. These actions will help MDF further deliver on its mission and ensure public lands are available for the enjoyment of all Americans.

City of Industry, CA (September 5, 2023) – Modular firearms are nothing new. They’ve been around for well over 100 years. Despite this, SIG successfully developed one of the most modular pistols. So successful that the US Armed Forced uses a variant of these modular pistols as the M17/18. The civilian model of the M17/18 is the SIG P320, a pistol that can be customized for concealed carry, competition, or just plinking at the range. Users can attach a pistol optic with their milled slides for some of the best and most consistent loadouts.
The SCS-320 (Solar Charging Sight) is designed for P320 optics-ready handguns and other DPP footprints. It takes the already well-designed P320 and augments it for optimal performance. The new optic attaches directly to the slide without needing an adapter plate. For perfect reticle illumination, the unit uses multidirectional light sensors in complement with a solar charging system to adjust brightness automatically. The SCS can operate indefinitely using an internal, rechargeable 20,000-hour battery, meaning you will never need to change batteries again. While brightness is automatically calibrated, an intensity override function locks the optic into a high-brightness mode for 30 minutes.
Three reticle options are available for the SCS320; MRS 32 MOA circle with 2 MOA dot, standalone 2 MOA dot, or standalone 32 MOA circle. Adjustments are 1 MOA per click with a full +/- 30 MOA travel range.
The aspheric glass lens provides zero distortion and is protected in the 7075 T6 aluminum housing and nitrogen purged for the best results. To be as watertight as possible, the SCS320 is IPX8 certified. 0.90×0.63 inch window provides a large area of view with superior optics availability.
For those shooters who want to incorporate one of the best and newest long-life optics for their P320 pistol, the SCS320 is made to fit the bill. Constructed of durable, virtually maintenance-free Kydex, the Triton™ 3.0 is fast on the draw, slender in profile, and easy to conceal!
A raised sweat guard protects the wearer’s body from the handgun, and the handgun from perspiration. The holster is cut low to accommodate most carry-style red dot sights. Included with the Triton is an optional, height-adjustable claw-type stabilizer for those gun carriers who prefer it.
The belt clips are adjustable for cant and suitable for strongside and crossdraw. The Triton 3.0’s improved appendix carry position offers the option of the 2.0’s previous ride height plus a lowered neutral cant position for gun carriers who prefer an even deeper ride.
The Triton 3.0 is supplied with two types of interchangeable tuckable clips. The first is the UniClip™, designed to go over the belt, but which also works well without a belt. With Forward Flux Blowback Reduction technology, 80% of gases are reduced from the shooter’s face and the life of the rifle is dramatically increased. Also, the Flash Lite end cap allows for maximum visual signature reduction in low light and dark environments. In addition, the Clutch-Lok QD provides a tapered quick detach that keeps all fouling out of the threads and utilizes a cam system to insure your suppressor always comes off and never comes loose.
Key SIG Suppressor Features
Additive manufacturing was the key to opening a new design window to eliminate gas blowback in the SIG Suppressor systems. With internal geometry that reduces 80% of blowback, the irritating gases in the shooter’s face are pushed forward leaving the shooter with a clear view even with the shortest barrel rifle designs. This also significantly reduces the fouling in the firearm, reducing erosion over time and making the rifle cleaner and parts longer lasting.
Going undetected, the future of suppressors requires it. Utilizing a change in the internal geometry and a Flash Hider end cap, SIG Suppressors offer the lightest signature of any suppressor on the market.
SIG SAUER’s Clutch-Lok system was designed with the idea that a QD should be removable even after thousands of shots. But the weak point of most designs is it allows the system to rattle loose from shooting in order for it to be removed by hand.

On Sunday October 1st, SIG SAUER Academy will be hosting the 4th Annual Mogadishu Mile event. This is the 30th anniversary of the infamous Battle of Mogadishu during the Somali Civil War.
This year starts with a first-hand account of The Battle of Mogadishu from former U.S. Ranger, Aaron Williamson. This hour-long seminar will be followed by a 1-mile commemorative run around the Academy grounds. Participants have the option to walk or run through the obstacle course.

EAST ALTON, IL (September 1, 2023) — Team Winchester sporting clays shooters made their presence known at the National Sporting Clay Association (NSCA) North Central Regional held at the Northbrook Sports Club in Hainesville, IL.
Team Winchester members Desirae ‘Desi’ Edmunds and Connor Daniel posted top scores among a stacked field of extremely talented competitors. Daniel continued his hot streak, winning the Sub-Junior Main event. His score also ranked high on the open leaderboard. Desi Edmunds shot consistently well all week, placing runner-up in the Winchester Ladies Cup. Winchester employee and Shooting Sports Coordinator, Donny Ballard, took home the win in the True Pair event with a perfect score of 50.
“The Northbrook Sports Club once again put on a tremendous shoot. It’s a terrific venue that showcases the excitement of sporting clays,” said Jason Gilbertson, Director of Marketing for Winchester. “We’re proud to have Team Winchester and so many competitors at this event shooting the famous AA shotshells.”

Our virtual Tech 101 educational series is back after a three-month break following our inaugural Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference & Exhibition.
We relaunch this series with “Interoperability 101” with Jessa Lee, Chief Technology Officer at Apogee Research, on September 7, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET. In this session, Ms. Lee will discuss how integrating complex systems is crucial for an effective 21st-century military and for the implementation of concepts of Mosaic Warfare, but sometimes very difficult to achieve. Ms. Lee will describe how pursuing greater interoperability can lead to efficient, modular, and adaptable defense capabilities, through a discussion of the technical fundamentals of software, hardware, and network interoperability, as well as discussing real-life examples of ongoing efforts to enhance US forces’ and defense systems’ interoperability.
