The TT Multipurpose Pouch VL is a sturdy equipment bag with a 6-liter volume and a handle. It is designed with a width suitable for many 30-liter backpacks, and it features a main compartment with a two-way zipper, a zip compartment on the front, and a hook & loop patch for color-marked and writable strips. The pouch can be attached to modular backpacks using the large, coverable hook & loop areas on the outside. The Teledyne FLIR Black Hornet Nano Drone is currently being used globally by numerous military organizations. In 2022, the UK and Norway shipped $9 million worth of Teledyne FLIR Black Hornet micro drones to Ukraine.  The Black Hornet provides the dismounted soldier with enhanced ISR and situational awareness in a package that is nearly silent with a loiter time of 25 minutes.

Teledyne FLIR Defense has teamed with Primordial Labs to develop and implement voice command control of the Black Hornet. The innovative technology eliminates the need to use remote controllers thus simplifying deployment and control of the drone in the field. The technology can also be integrated into a COP application.

Company’s production capacity set to undergo 50% increase by 2025; 100% by 2030

Grenoble, France, May 10, 2023 – Lynred, a leading global provider of high-quality infrared detectors for the aerospace, defense and commercial markets, today announces breaking ground on its new €85 million ($93.7M) industrial site to produce state-of-the-art infrared technologies. This is the biggest construction investment that the company has undertaken since it began manufacturing in 1986.
The project is financed by loans from the CIC bank and Bpifrance.
Lynred will double its current cleanroom footprint, totaling 8,200 m2 (88,264 ft2), primarily to meet two strategic objectives:

Obtain an optimal cleanroom cleanliness classification for its new high-performance products (hybrid detectors)
Increase the production capacity for its more compact industrial products (bolometers) used in multiple fields, including the automotive industry

This substantial investment will consolidate Lynred’s positioning as European market leader in infrared detection. It enables the company to play a key role within the European defense industrial and technological base, innately woven into strengthening French and European forces, for whom infrared detection is hugely important. With this, Lynred takes a step up in responding to the French government’s call to reorient European industry towards a ‘rearmament economy’ (FR).
To mark the ground breaking on May 10, Jean-François Delepau, chairman of Lynred, planted a holm oak tree.
“I am delighted to see our state-of-the-art industrial site come to life, consolidating our position as the second largest infrared detector manufacturer in the world. This will enable us to respond to growing market demand for next-generation infrared technologies, including in the automotive sector. It will allow us to contribute to bolstering France’s industrial sovereignty and, more generally, to improve our overall industrial performance. Above all, I wish to thank the Lynred teams involved in this major undertaking, as well as all our partners who have supported us, in particular our shareholders, Thales and Safran. Lynred is embarking on a new strategic pathway, both in terms of technology and dynamic growth,” said Mr Delepau.
The buildings are due for completion in the first trimester of 2025 and the site will be fully operational by the following October. This state-of-the-art industrial facility will comprise 8,200 m2 (88,264 ft2) of interconnected cleanrooms (twice the current surface area), 3,400 m2 (36,600ft2) of laboratories, a 2,300 m2 (24,756 ft2) logistics area, and a tertiary and technical area measuring 10,800 m2 (11,625 ft2).
Lynred is looking to increase its production capacity by 50% by 2025, in particular for its bolometer products, with a view to doubling capacity by 2030.
With these new cleanrooms the company will house all of its French production lines in  a single location. This will enable synergies amongst core competencies and optimize production flows.
The new buildings will be located on the current Lynred site in Veurey-Voroize, situated within the Grenoble area. They have been designed to ensure optimized energy management and environmental performance: even with 13,600 m2  (146,400 ft2) under construction, the volume of permeable surface will increase. The company will decrease its carbon footprint by 33% and will install 1,800 m2 (19,375 ft2) of solar panels. Moreover, the site will accommodate an additional 320 trees and more than 100 charging stations for electric vehicles (cars and bicycles) will be put in place, with more cycle parking added.

Existing oxygen supply systems are limited in extended high-altitude operations, restricting the effectiveness and reach of parachute missions.

Liemke Introduces German-Made Luchs-1 and Luchs-2 Thermal Optics

San Antonio, Texas (May 9, 2023) – Liemke, a leader in high-definition thermal imaging for hunting, is pleased to introduce the premium Luchs line of thermal optics. Made in Wetzlar, Germany, the Liemke Luchs (or Lynx as translated in English) incorporates the latest in thermal technology in these versatile devices that can be clipped onto any daytime riflescope or used as a handheld monocular. 

Fast and quiet with a startup time of only five seconds for both Luchs models, and a standby mode for immediate activation, the Luchs-1 has a 35mm lens with heat signature detection range of up to 1,750 meters while the Luchs-2 has a 50mm lens with heat detection up to 2,500 meters.

Luchs thermals have a whisper-quiet calibration procedure with a rapid refresh rate of 50 Hz and are easy and intuitive to operate. Both models feature a 1024×768 OLED color display and a 640×512 12 µm VOx sensor for high contrast and detailed images.  The Luchs-1 delivers a large field of view of 22 meters at 100 meters and an image that completely fills within the daytime riflescope at 2x magnification. The Luchs-2 has a field of view of 15.4 meters at 100 meters. Two image modes provide optimal detail rendition in varying weather conditions and there are five color modes, including an Extra Dark mode setting for glare-free images at night.

Easy and intuitive to operate, the Luchs thermal units have internal memory of 32 GB and a Wi-Fi function for live streaming via an app. Users can capture photos and videos of their hunt on the internal memory even while streaming live, and these can be transferred later via USB-C port. The built-in rechargeable battery has a run time of up to 9 hours and the three-position switch – On/Standby/Off – can be used to extend battery life in the field.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, celebrated a milestone achievement after announcing firearm and ammunition manufacturers topped $16.1 billion in excise tax contributions to the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund since its inception in 1937. When adjusted for inflation, the total is more than $25 billion. The latest Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) Collection report released by the Department of the Treasury, covering the 4th Quarter Calendar Year 2022, indicates that firearm and ammunition manufacturers contributed more than $235 million, the third-highest 4th calendar-quarter in history.

“The entire firearm and ammunition industry should celebrate this truly outstanding achievement and take pride in this announcement,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “The firearm and ammunition industry understands the conservation of wildlife and the habitats in which they thrive are invaluable. They are critical to future generations taking part in hunting and the recreational shooting sports traditions and learning about their vital importance. The Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund, funded significantly by taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers, is responsible for the restoration and recovery of America’s iconic game species across the country, including the Rocky Mountain elk, whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, wild turkey and a variety of waterfowl. These contributions have also facilitated the remarkable recovery of the majestic American bald eagle, of which there are now more than 316,000 in the lower 48 states. The firearm and ammunition industry is filled with pride to achieve this landmark for conservation funding and the role our industry plays to ensure America’s wildlife is perpetuated for future generations.”

The astonishing total represents more than $1 billion contributed to conservation since announcing crossing the $15 billion contribution threshold just 12 months ago. It was less than one year before that remarkable achievement that NSSF announced Firearm and Ammunition Excise Tax contributions surpassed $14 billion.

The Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund, commonly known as the Pittman-Robertson fund, is funded by excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers on their products, as well as archery equipment manufacturers. The excise tax is set at 11 percent of the wholesale price for long guns and ammunition and 10 percent of the wholesale price for handguns. The excise tax, paid by manufacturers and importers, applies to all firearms produced or imported for commercial federal law enforcement sales, whether the purpose is for recreational shooting, hunting or personal defense. The tax is administered by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) of the Department of the Treasury, which turns the funds over to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).

USFWS deposits the Pittman-Robertson revenues into a special account called the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund administered by the USFWS. These funds are made available to states and territories the year following their collection based on a statutory formula.

These 10 to 11 percent excise tax dollars collected since 1937 under the Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act are specifically designated to be used by state wildlife agencies for conservation and related purposes. Collectively, purchasers of firearms and ammunition, hunters and the industry are the greatest source of wildlife conservation funding.

U.S. Patriot Bravery Tour Stops at West Point, New York

U.S. Patriot, a GALLS® company, is on a 25 military base tour across the country this spring and summer, celebrating US Military Service Members for their bravery and service to our country. The Bravery Tour will stop at West Point on May 12th for another amazing celebration event.

Lexington, KY (May 2023) – U.S. Patriot, a GALLS® company, and one of the largest military suppliers of uniforms, boots, and gear, is currently on its 25 military base U.S. Patriot Bravery Tour. The tour honors former and current military members and their families with a special event at each stop along the 6,800-mile journey.

On May 12th the U.S. Patriot Tactical Bravery Tour team will be at the West Point base exchange, located at 1204 Stoney Lonesome Road, West Point, NY.  The event will feature food, drinks, promos, giveaways, and a chance to win the 2023 Jeep® Wrangler Willys 4×4 the U.S. Patriot team is traveling in. The event is open to all former and current military members and their families.

“The purpose of this tour is to meet our customers face-to-face, get to know our troops, and bring their voice directly into how we serve them better for their tactical gear needs.,” Mike Fadden, CEO of U.S. Patriot, said. “There is no better way to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who serve our country than to meet them in person, celebrate their stories and create a fun and memorable event they can enjoy with their families.”

The tour will be interactive, and the military service members will be encouraged to leave their unit’s memorabilia on the Jeep, making it one-of-its-kind by the end of the tour. At the conclusion of the tour, the Jeep will be given away through a sweepstake random drawing to one lucky winner. All active-duty military members, national guard members, reservists, military retirees, military veterans, and dependents of active-duty military members are eligible to enter the sweepstakes. JFD SHOWCASES NEW TACTICAL DIVING VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY AT SOF WEEK 2023 AHEAD OF DELIVERY TO US PARTNER

JFD – part of James Fisher and Sons plc – has launched its advanced four man tactical diving platform, Shadow Seal, during SOF Week 2023, ahead of delivery to United States partner Blue Tide Marine (BTM) for demonstration and training purposes.
Shadow Seal is an adaptable and extremely capable lightweight Tactical Diving Vehicle (TDV) able to transport a pilot, navigator and two passengers in surface, semi submerged and submerged mode with a range of 80nm.
Shadow Seal offers unparalleled underwater maneuverability to Special Operations Forces required to covertly cross the expanding offshore and littoral water gap. Adaptable to suit a variety of ISTAR and combat requirements, the platform provides sophisticated protection to complex, high value platforms and critical infrastructure.


A strategic partnership with BTM was announced in March 2022 as part of JFD’s commitment to expanding its US presence and subsea maritime capability. BTM subsequently purchased the first production model of Shadow Seal to provide local demonstration and training services – significant milestone in JFD’s journey towards a full turnkey US capability, inclusive of TDV provision and follow on support services throughout the product lifecycle.

JFD has been working closely with the BTM team during production at JFD’s facility in Glasgow, UK, and final in-water trials, FATS (Factory Acceptance Trials) and HATS (Harbor Acceptance Trials) are currently underway prior to delivery to BTM in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in coming months. JFD will continue to offer support and training as the craft is delivered to the US.

Shadow Seal was first developed by Ortega Submersibles in The Netherlands which was acquired by JFD in 2019 and has since undergone further development and rigorous trials. JFD has combined 40 years’ experience within the subsea domain with proven technology; found within JFD’s Carrier Seal which is in operation with a number of the World’s Navies. Recent upgrades included in the latest Shadow Seal include expansion of available battery power enhancing range and endurance capacity of the craft.
JFD will be exhibiting alongside BTM at SOF Week 2023 on 8-11 May 2023, and will be displaying a prototype model of Shadow Seal (MK1D) on Stand 501 at the Tampa Convention Centre. SOF Week is an important opportunity for JFD US to promote its world-leading capabilities in the underseas sector, and our UK and US team will be on hand to discuss Shadow Seal and wider JFD Special Operations capabilities.

USSOCOM has been engaging with their defense sector business partners at an annual conference held in Tampa, home for USSCOM headquarters, for well over ten years.  In 2021, USSOCOM expand the event to a broader convention for the entire SOF Community, akin to an “AUSA National Meeting” for the U.S. Army, and its maiden voyage will occur in May 2023.  The exhibition hall will open on Tuesday, 9 May through Thursday 11 May. SOF Week 2024 is schedule for 6 May – 9 May

TAMPA (April. 28, 2023) – Flyer Defense, the designer of the ultimate light tactical ground mobility vehicle will unveil its latest configuration of the Flyer 72-Heavy Duty (Flyer 72-HD) at the new SOF Week convention in Tampa.

Integrated with the exMHR/Hero-120 configuration kit, or “Hunter Killer,” the featured Flyer 72-HD boasts an on-the move self-contained strike capability, from onboard detection and tracking to pinpoint strike capability. This year, the Flyer 72-HD will be equipped with the exMHR Enhanced & Extended Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar from Leonardo DRS and Hero-120 loitering munition system from Mistral and UVision. 

Combined with the pinpoint strike capabilities of the Hero-120, the exMHR Doppler radar technology further transforms the armored Flyer platform, protecting its occupants from both long and short-range threats.

The “Hunter Killer” is the latest in a string of new Flyer configurations as the company continues to expand platform capabilities while maintaining a live production line.

Flyer Defense will make its home in Booth #1505 for the duration of the show. The Flyer 72-Utility variant will also be on display, equipped with the Hero-120 configuration kit in Mistral Group’s Booth 111 just outside of the convention center.

L3Harris’ Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment (VAMPIRE) is a low-cost, vehicle agnostic, rapid weapon deployment solution that gives ground forces the ability to quickly and accurately engage targets. The Department of Defense announced VAMPIRE as part of security assistance package under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative in August 2022.

VAMPIRE also features the WESCAM MX-10 RSTA electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) independent stabilized sighting system. The WESCAM MX-10 RSTA provides ISR overmatch and is ideal for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition missions from amphibious, armored combat and reconnaissance vehicles.

Helping to keep our military safe when they are in theatre, D1xTM, a passive laser warning receiver, protects operators from snipers, UAVs and many other battlefield platforms.
D1X™ is a passive laser warning receiver. It is designed to detect, and coarsely locate laser emissions in the field, from laser pointing/illuminating devices and rangefinders. The device enhanced safety and survivability for today’s battlefield environment covering all classes of commercial and military laser devices.
D1X™ will alert its wearer of laser emissions in visible, nearIR and SWIR through selectable audible, visual, and tactile feedback. The device can also be connected to a management system or provide laser warning for a defensive aid platform via USB C port.
To protect operators from attacks, a sensor can be used and integrated into various battlefield solutions to enhance safety as well as mitigate friendly fire incidents be alerting the operator of incoming laser emissions. D1X™ has an extremely low false alarm rate with a typical response time of less than 50 milliseconds. The system can be used as worn front of back or attached to a helmet.

The sale, led by Tomahawk Robotics, provides the US DoD with Tomahawk’s common controller for unmanned systems, augmented by Athena AI’s Mission Module.
Athena AI is a featured AI partner in Tomahawk Robotics’ Kinesis command and control software ecosystem. Kinesis gives you the freedom to control the robotic platform you need to get the job done – all from a single interface and while integrating with your TAK/ATAK teammates. Athena AI’s role in the partnership is to leverage networked robotic platforms to extend soldiers’ sensory perception. The Athena AI Mission Module monitors platform video feeds and autonomously detects mission critical information, such as threats or objects of interest. Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Fla. (May 8, 2023) OTTO Engineering announced the launch of the first tactical spatial audio product for dismounted warfighters. E.S.P. (Enhanced Spatial Positioning) is a push-to- talk (PTT) switch designed for dynamic environments and the needs of individual operators. The solution was developed to enable users to mentally focus on an individual directional audio source, even if other channels are active simultaneously.
In high-stress environments, traditional audio traffic from multiple sources can compete in the tactical operator’s ear, leading to auditory overload and retention loss. Spatial Positioning creates separation and provides mental clarity.
Independent testing published by the Audio Engineering Society (AES) on the occurrence of attention redirection and speech intelligibility in multi-talker communication confirms that spatial separation of audio can reduce cognitive load and help operators maintain situational awareness.
“In a natural listening environment, the human auditory system uses cues to localize and externalize sound sources. When listening, we can discern the sound source, where it’s coming from, and when multiple sources are presented concurrently. We’re able to attend to a specific source through what is called the ‘cocktail party effect,’” says Dan Stanek, Vice President and General Manager of OTTO’s Communications division. Stanek continues, “This is the ability of the brain to focus on a specific source in the presence of other competing sources, such as when a person is in a noisy room at a cocktail party. Audio segregation like this occurs because of several factors, but the strongest is the distinct spatial location of the independent audio sources.”
The operator hears each channel distinctly from Left, Left- Front, Right-Front, and Right associating a physical position with each unique audio source. This untangles competing streams and increases comprehension so warfighters can maintain situational awareness and focus on mission objectives.
This first-of-its-kind solution is compatible with major radio platforms and offers modular compatibility with vehicular and airbase intercoms (ICS). E.S.P. meets MIL-STD-810G specifications and is software/firmware upgradeable allowing for future channel position options, ATAK PTT functionality, and more.

The two events, from Aug. 1-3 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland, will bring together representatives from the FAA, other government agencies, international aviation experts, industry leaders and academia. The presenters and panelists will discuss the latest information and advancements related to the diverse uses of drones and the safe integration of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft, like air taxis, into the National Airspace System.

This year’s Drone Symposium theme is “Time to Accelerate.” Sessions and workshops will focus on how the FAA continues to safely integrate drones while creating a regulatory framework to accelerate advanced operations such as beyond visual line of sight and UAS Traffic Management (UTM).

Honoring the Legacy of America’s Finest since 1980


Tampa, FL, May 8, 2023 – Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) is a non-profit organization with an enduring promise to the children of fallen Special Operations (SOF) Personnel and the children of all service members awarded the Medal of Honor to fund education for children of fallen Special Operations Warriors.
Founded in 1980, SOWF has supported the over 1700 children who have lost a parent during the last 43 years of fighting, funding their education from “cradle to career”, in other words from pre-school to college. And, while the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are over, SOWF continues to support the children, including fully-funding college attendance for nearly 1100 eligible students. Grace Goetsch, a surviving daughter from a SOF veteran, is indebted to the support from SOWF: “Thanks to Special Operations Warrior Foundation, I have attended college debt-free, helping to take the burden off my mother’s shoulders and allowing me to succeed—in and out of the classroom!”
