GA-ASI DELIVERS FIRST NEW-BUILD MQ-9A TO USMC

SAN DIEGO – 16 May 2023 – Following delivery of the first two MQ-9A Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) that were procured upon the successful completion of a Company-Owned Company-Operated (COCO) Deployment Contract, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) are celebrating the delivery of the first new-build MQ-9A Extended Range (ER) UAS to Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) on April 19, 2023. The delivery of the first new-build MQ-9A ER is part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Unmanned Expeditionary (MUX) Program.

“It’s exciting to make this initial delivery to NAVAIR, which strengthens the relationship between GA-ASI, the USMC, and NAVAIR, while launching the MUX MALE (Medium-Altitude, Long-Endurance) Program of Record from concept into reality,” said GA-ASI Senior Vice President for MQ-9 Systems, Fred Darlington.

GA-ASI was selected by the USMC in 2022 to deliver eight MQ-9A ER UAS as part of the ARES Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (ID/IQ) contract.

The MQ-9A ER is designed with field-retrofittable capabilities such as wing-borne fuel pods and reinforced landing gear that extend the aircraft’s endurance to more than 30 hours while further increasing its operational flexibility. The aircraft provides long-endurance, persistent surveillance capabilities with Full-Motion Video and Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator/Maritime Mode Radar. An extremely reliable aircraft, MQ-9A ER is equipped with a fault-tolerant flight control system and a triple-redundant avionics system architecture. It is engineered to meet and exceed manned aircraft reliability standards.

The team sniper challenge was conducted at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with all proceeds from the match donated to The Special Forces Association, Chapter 38.

Columbia Falls, Mont. (May 2023) –On the heels of their win at the Dark Concepts Real World Sniper Challenge at the end of April, PROOF Research®’s Weapons Test Specialist Greg Hamilton and Sean Murphy of Nightforce Optics took first place at the first annual Legion Team Sniper Challenge held May 6 – 7, 2023 at the 5th Special Forces Group’s range complex at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The unique Special Forces stress shoot format was designed with the help of a sports psychologist in order to induce chaotic situations while being tested on target recognition, ranging, wind calling, non-standard shooting positions, problem-solving, and stress management. Most of the organizers and range officers for the inaugural match are current or former Army Special Forces and seasoned long-range competitors combining decades of field experience to create this two-man, two-day match. Thirty-plus teams, with a mix of civilian and military snipers/instructors, participated.

Hamilton shot as the primary shooter with a Barrett MRAD and PROOF Research pre-fit steel barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor. Murphy shot the secondary .223 carbine with a PROOF Research 18” stainless steel barrel.

“The Legion Team Sniper Challenge was a fast-paced and challenging event that required thinking and adapting to be successful. Our rifles delivered a high level of repeatable performance that enabled us to hit targets quickly and precisely, giving us an edge in the match, resulting in our second consecutive win in less than two weeks,” Murphy stated at the end of the match.

NSSF Praises Gov. DeSantis Signing Law Barring Tracking Codes for Firearm Retail Purchases

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for signing SB 214, a law that bars credit card companies from implementing a special Merchant Category Code (MCC) for credit card purchases at firearm retailers. Gov. DeSantis, and the Florida legislature, are ensuring that the privacy of customers at firearm retailers remains protected and is not collected to be used in an illegal backdoor firearm registry.

“Governor DeSantis is standing up against a ‘woke’ initiative borne from the efforts of antigun Wall Street banks and their gun control allies in the media to use lawful private transactions as a means to usher in gun control,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “No law-abiding American should be subjected to having their name and financial data being added to a government-accessible watchlist simply for exercising their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Governor DeSantis is ensuring that Floridians won’t be held captive by the radical ‘woke’ antigun agenda that seeks to weaponize credit cards in gun owners’ wallets against them. Gun owners should worry about what’s in their wallet, not who’s in their wallet.”

Florida’s SB 214 will ensure that the names of law-abiding firearm owners are not illegally recorded on a list or registry; prohibit a payment settlement entity, merchant acquiring entity or third party settlement organization from assigning a MCC classifying a merchant as a seller of firearms or ammunition; and authorize the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to investigate alleged violations of the law.

In late 2022, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) announced it would create a unique MCC, at the behest of Amalgamated Bank, which has been described as the Left’s Private Banker, that would allow credit card companies to monitor transactions at firearm retailers. Credit card companies suspended plans to implement the use of unique firearm retailer MCCs after significant opposition by NSSF and several state governments.

NSSF also thanks Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson for his leadership on this issue along with the bill sponsors, state Sen. Danny Burgess and state Rep. John Snyder.

Florida joins West Virginia, Mississippi and Idaho in enacting laws to protect firearm purchasers’ privacy when using credit cards at firearm retailers. Legislation similar to Florida’s law is pending in Congress.

SOF Week 2023: ANDURIL SENTRY A CONFIGURABLE INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM

With the expanding role of the UAV and SUAV on the battlefield, it’s essential that the defense sector deliver configurable intrusion detection systems effective against land, sea and air threats. To that end ANDRUIL introduced the SENTRY system. Unique to SENTRY is the ability to be configured for all applications and theaters of operations. Sentry uses artificial intelligence to provide highly accurate, persistent autonomous awareness across land, sea and air. With an AI-enabled edge processing, continuous 360 pan / tilt and a variety of radars and sensors, Sentry can autonomously identify, detect and track objects of interest to bring increased security to borders, military bases, oil and gas pipelines, airports and other critical infrastructure.

The configuration depicted in the picture above is the company’s Long Range Sentry Tower. It uses a total of four continuous wave radar modules operating in the Ka frequency range. FURIOSA ULTRA

Also new are 10” extended length M-LOK™ rails, a wider barrel channel that accommodates barrels up to 1.25” in diameter, and an integrated, full-length Arca rail.

The shoulder stock retains the cheek and length-of-pull adjustability of the original while adding a new vertical grip, thumb rest and integrated bag rider.

The Furiosa Ultra chassis is milled from aircraft-grade aluminum for maximum strength and the stocks are crafted from American Walnut for vibration suppression and durability.

Furiosa Ultra accepts Remington® 700 short action footprinted actions including clones and custom actions and is available for $1399.99 MSRP.

TITANO
WOOX enters the benchrest and F-Class shooting arena with the Titano, featuring the company’s new Suspense™ adjustable stabilizer system.

The predominant fore end with a flat, 3-inch wide floor ensures a steady shot, and the wide barrel channel accommodates large calibers with barrels up to 1.25” in diameter. The shoulder stocks sports a new vertical grip, thumb rest, adjustable cheek riser and length-of-pull, plus an integrated bag rider.

The Titano chassis is milled from aircraft-grade aluminum for maximum strength and the stocks are crafted from American Walnut.

The Teledyne FLIR Black Hornet Nano Drone is currently being used globally by numerous military organizations. In 2022, the UK and Norway shipped $9 million worth of Teledyne FLIR Black Hornet micro drones to Ukraine. The Black Hornet provides the dismounted soldier with enhanced ISR and situational awareness in a package that is nearly silent with a loiter time of 25 minutes.

Teledyne FLIR Defense has teamed with Primordial Labs to develop and implement voice command control of the Black Hornet. The innovative technology eliminates the need to use remote controllers thus simplifying deployment and control of the drone in the field. The technology can also be integrated into a COP application.

Named Campus, Lynred’s new state-of-the-art industrial facility will meet growing market demand for advanced infrared technologies, notably for automotive sector, whilst bolstering French industrial sovereignty in field
Company’s production capacity set to undergo 50% increase by 2025; 100% by 2030

Grenoble, France, May 10, 2023 – Lynred, a leading global provider of high-quality infrared detectors for the aerospace, defense and commercial markets, today announces breaking ground on its new €85 million ($93.7M) industrial site to produce state-of-the-art infrared technologies. This is the biggest construction investment that the company has undertaken since it began manufacturing in 1986.
The project is financed by loans from the CIC bank and Bpifrance.
Lynred will double its current cleanroom footprint, totaling 8,200 m2 (88,264 ft2), primarily to meet two strategic objectives:

Obtain an optimal cleanroom cleanliness classification for its new high-performance products (hybrid detectors)
Increase the production capacity for its more compact industrial products (bolometers) used in multiple fields, including the automotive industry

This substantial investment will consolidate Lynred’s positioning as European market leader in infrared detection. It enables the company to play a key role within the European defense industrial and technological base, innately woven into strengthening French and European forces, for whom infrared detection is hugely important. With this, Lynred takes a step up in responding to the French government’s call to reorient European industry towards a ‘rearmament economy’ (FR).
To mark the ground breaking on May 10, Jean-François Delepau, chairman of Lynred, planted a holm oak tree.
“I am delighted to see our state-of-the-art industrial site come to life, consolidating our position as the second largest infrared detector manufacturer in the world. This will enable us to respond to growing market demand for next-generation infrared technologies, including in the automotive sector. It will allow us to contribute to bolstering France’s industrial sovereignty and, more generally, to improve our overall industrial performance. Above all, I wish to thank the Lynred teams involved in this major undertaking, as well as all our partners who have supported us, in particular our shareholders, Thales and Safran. Lynred is embarking on a new strategic pathway, both in terms of technology and dynamic growth,” said Mr Delepau.
The buildings are due for completion in the first trimester of 2025 and the site will be fully operational by the following October. This state-of-the-art industrial facility will comprise 8,200 m2 (88,264 ft2) of interconnected cleanrooms (twice the current surface area), 3,400 m2 (36,600ft2) of laboratories, a 2,300 m2 (24,756 ft2) logistics area, and a tertiary and technical area measuring 10,800 m2 (11,625 ft2).
Lynred is looking to increase its production capacity by 50% by 2025, in particular for its bolometer products, with a view to doubling capacity by 2030.
With these new cleanrooms the company will house all of its French production lines in a single location. This will enable synergies amongst core competencies and optimize production flows.
The new buildings will be located on the current Lynred site in Veurey-Voroize, situated within the Grenoble area. They have been designed to ensure optimized energy management and environmental performance: even with 13,600 m2 (146,400 ft2) under construction, the volume of permeable surface will increase. The company will decrease its carbon footprint by 33% and will install 1,800 m2 (19,375 ft2) of solar panels. Moreover, the site will accommodate an additional 320 trees and more than 100 charging stations for electric vehicles (cars and bicycles) will be put in place, with more cycle parking added.

TAMPA, FL (MAY 9, 2023) – Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies business (NYSE: RTX), introduced its OXYJUMP™ NG oxygen supply system for use in high altitude jumps by parachutists. The OXYJUMP NG system’s breakthrough technology enhances mission capabilities with a longer gliding distance, improves jumper safety, is easy to use and contains significant size and weight advantages over legacy systems.

Existing oxygen supply systems are limited in extended high-altitude operations, restricting the effectiveness and reach of parachute missions.

Utilizing Collins’ oxygen pulse technology – already certified by one NATO country – the OXYJUMP NG system provides customers with a smaller, lighter weight solution which automatically adjusts oxygen levels to enable longer mission profiles.
