San Antonio, TX (July 25, 2023) –Over the years a collection of used cars, boats, and tractors have taken up valuable space in the yard and on the farm, and now it’s time to figure what to do with them? Donate them.

Donating used vehicles, tractors, boats, ATVs and RVs to Military Warriors Support Foundation is a great way to support an organization that is dedicated to positively affecting the lives of combat-wounded veterans.

Generous donors and supporters make the mission of Military Warriors Support Foundation’s (MWSF) possible. Donations help significantly change the lives of combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star families. Contributions go toward housing, vehicles, and support that are all part of each unique MWSF program. These programs go on to help our heroes in different ways.

One program that Military Warriors Support Foundation offers is the Skills4Life program. Skills4Life provides recreational outings and peer-to-peer mentorship through hunting, fishing, and golfing adventures. This program provides a great opportunity for combat-wounded veterans to connect and find comaraderie through outdoor activities. The Vehicles4Heroes program receives donated cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, ATVs, and even RVs, and then these vehicles are sold at auction. These donations can be in any condition—working, needs minor or major repair, wrecked, or undriveable. Vehicles4Heroes welcomes them all. The money from the auction sale goes directly into the programs Military Warriors Support Foundation offers.

The process of donating is simple; just fill out the online donation form, and our partners at Flexco Fleet Services will contact you to arrange all the details. Military Warriors Support Foundation and Flexco Fleet Services handle the process entirely, from arranging the pickup of the vehicle to managing the title transfer process. Barnett was founded in the early 1960’s by David Barnett’s Father in the industrial market town of Willenhall, West Midland, England. As a boy, David Barnett visited his father’s workplace, often after school, waiting to be taken home. For his seventh birthday in 1972, his father brought back from America a tubular band slingshot. The new contraption was so different from all the things he had seen from classmates and neighbors.

Mesmerized by the slingshot, he couldn’t wait to kill some vermin with the “Pocket Full of Power.” Armed with marbles, David Barnett set out amongst the overloaded trash bins in the backyards of the local buildings as he set his sights on the numerous Black rats that scavenged in the area.

“One day, I was in luck and hit one so square, it slid up against the wall and started screeching loudly, bouncing up and down until it finally froze still. As I walked over to it with the excitement of the kill, it started screeching loudly again, and to my horror, the ugliest and biggest Black rat I had ever imagined ran in and started tearing it apart, 10ft from me. Looking at me with a bald, fire-burnt red face, it hissed, unflinching and unafraid,” recalled David Barnett.

To this day, half a century later, he still remembers that day so vividly. It wasn’t long after that that the family business started to make slingshots. So, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Barnett and to try to put this “demon” to rest, David Barnett has decided to relive the excitement of a young boy’s adventures with slingshots with the King Rat Slingshot designs.

The King Rat line of Barnett slingshots includes the Havoc, Havoc Hunter, Cobra, Black Widow, Black Widow Hunter, and Ambush models. Upcoming Review–Streamlight’s ProTac 2.0

The T.V. series, Dragnet, first appeared in 1949 and was last aired in 2003. It was one of the best cop shows ever produced. In that series L.A.P.D.’s Joe Friday, played by John Randolph Webb, often said:

…there are over 5,000 men in this city who know that being a policeman is an endless, glamourless, thankless job that’s gotta be done. I know it, too, and I’m damn glad to be one of them.”

SAN DIEGO – 24 July 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) congratulates the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) on achieving a significant milestone of surpassing 20,000 flight hours with their Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Unmanned Expeditionary (MUX) Medium-Altitude, High-Endurance (MALE) MQ-9A Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).

To date, GA-ASI has delivered eight MQ-9A UAS to the USMC. Two of these MQ-9A aircraft are actively engaged in operational missions, playing a vital role in supporting mission-critical Marine Corps objectives. The USMC awaits delivery of 12 additional aircraft, which will fulfill their goal of three squadrons by 2025.

Waterfowl TSS / S3 Steel Blend

These devastating “duplex” loads combine No. 9 or 7.5 Tungsten Super Shot with various shot sizes of APEX’s S3 zinc-plated steel shot.

APEX S3 Steel features perfectly uniform pellets for optimum patterning in a steel load, and when combined with ultra-high-density TSS, helps deliver a harder hitting payload and improved terminal performance to reduce crippling. Available in 12 gauge and 20 gauge.

APEX also offers the popular Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blend load of No. 8 TSS and No. 3 S3 Steel in 12 gauge only.

Waterfowl S3 Steel

APEX’s Waterfowl S3 Steel is zinc plated for improved performance in a steel load. Normal steel shot has tiny voids and uneven surfaces from the manufacturing process. APEX’s zinc-coating fills these voids and imperfections creating consistently rounder pellets. The zinc also acts as a lubricant resulting in more consistent pellet drop when loading and greatly reduces the chance of pellet “bridging” where one pellet becomes locked with another. The reduced friction also allows for better movement of the pellets against each other in the firing process, resulting in fewer stray pellets known as fliers. The same advanced Tungsten-grade wad system used in the TSS line is also used in the S3 shotshells and, when combined with APEX’s premium zinc-plated steel, delivers superior patterning in a steel load. Available in 12 gauge and 20 gauge.

EAST ALTON, IL (July 24, 2023) — International Skeet shooter and Team Winchester member Dania Vizzi claimed Gold at the ISSF World Cup in famed Lonato, Italy. The range in Lonato is legendary for attracting the world’s best talent and serving as a challenging venue for shooters at the top of their game. The gold medal win for Vizzi adds to her momentum moving into the Spring 2024 selection match, which will decide who will represent the United States at the Paris Olympics.
Vizzi earned a spot at the Italy World Cup based on her Silver medal finish at the 2023 Spring Selection competition. San Antonio, Texas (July 24, 2023) – Team Blaser’s Haylyn Hanks delivered a world-class performance in Gant, Hungary last week to win Ladies Champion at the 45th Annual World FITASC Sporting Championship. Held July 13 – 16, Hanks outperformed 82 ladies from around the world in this international clay target shooting championship to shoot a 175/200 and take home the gold.

USAF FLIES WITH ANGRY KITTEN JAMMING POD

SAN DIEGO – 20 July 2023 – The U.S. Air Force flew a remotely piloted aircraft equipped with an Angry Kitten® ALQ-167 Electronic Warfare Countermeasure Pod for the first time on April 27, 2023. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. integrated the pod onto the aircraft.

The Angry Kitten EW Pod is supplied to the U.S. Air Force by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) and has flown on other Department of Defense systems, including F-16s. GA-ASI integrated the EW pod in less than nine months at no cost to the U.S. Air Force by using a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement.

“It was great to see the Angry Kitten Pod on an Air Force platform for the first time,” said GA-ASI Vice President of DoD Strategic Development Patrick Shortsleeve. “Flying this EW capability on an MQ-9A demonstrates its possible use on future aircraft.”

The Air Force plans to continue flying with Angry Kitten Pods over the next 12 to 24 months to develop the best Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to leverage EW capabilities in support of the Joint Force and partner nations.

NSSF Praises House Committee for Standing with Hunters

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee for standing with America’s hunters and blocking anti-hunting and antigun special interests seeking to ban the use of traditional ammunition on federally-managed public lands.

“The approved language on the Interior appropriation bill is a significant victory for which NSSF has been advocating on behalf of sportsmen and women. This bill, when finally approved, will block attempts by the Biden administration to kowtow to special-interest groups to limit access to hunting on public lands by forcing hunters to purchase more expensive and less-available alternative ammunition,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The Biden administration, in concert with anti-hunting groups, has been forcing through federal rules to ban the use of traditional ammunition on federally-managed lands that are devoid of scientific evidence that it causes detrimental impacts to wildlife conservation. The people’s representatives in Congress have had enough of government bureaucracies and special interest groups running roughshod on the American public. NSSF is grateful to Chairman Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) for his principled stand for America’s original conservationists.”

The House Appropriations Committee approved language included FY24 Interior Department spending bill that includes a provision preventing the Biden administration from using funds to enforce bans on traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle on federal lands or waters for hunting or fishing activities unless certain conditions are met. NSSF has been a leading critic of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife (USFWS) Proposed and Final Rules offering a bait-and-switch deal to outdoorsmen and women. USFWS published a Final Rule and proposed another, that opens more hunting and fishing opportunities but bans the use of traditional lead ammunition. However, those rules lack sound site-specific, peer-reviewed scientific evidence that traditional ammunition is detrimental to wildlife conservation.

NSSF continues to support the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, S. 1185, legation introduced by U.S. Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and a similar bill, H.R. 615 by U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.), to make these protections for outdoorsmen and women hunting on federal public lands permanent.

The firearm and ammunition industry is the leading funder of wildlife conservation in America. The firearm and ammunition industry has paid over $16 billion, or $25 billion when adjusted for inflation, for wildlife conservation and habitat restoration since 1937, through the 10 and 11 percent Pittman-Robertson excise taxes paid by manufacturers. Last year, over $1.1 billion of the $1.6 billion apportioned to the states from USFWS was directly sourced to taxes paid by the firearm and ammunition industry.

Those funds have been responsible for the remarkable wildlife conservation successes in America, including whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, Rocky Mountain elk and waterfowl. Nongame wildlife also benefits from these conservation efforts, including the incredible recovery of the American bald eagle, which faced extinction in the 1970s but is now removed from both the Endangered and Threatened Species Lists.

SHOT University Issues Call for Presentations

LAS VEGAS — SHOT UniversityTM has issued a call for presentations for its educational sessions at the 2024 NSSF® SHOT Show®. SHOT University will take place January 23-26, during the 2024 NSSF SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SHOT University is the highly regarded offering of educational sessions that share models of success with the goal of elevating industry professionalism and success across many business types. SHOT University attracts decision-makers primarily from firearm industry retailers and shooting range businesses, with professionals from the conservation community, manufacturers, suppliers and trade media also attending.

Presentation Details

Proposed presentations must meet the 1-hour per session timeframe and should include at least 15 minutes of dedicated time for questions and answers from the audience.

Presentation proposals that are interactive in nature and include handouts (such as course booklets and/or whitepapers) are strongly encouraged.

Presentation submissions are due by September 1, 2023. All submissions received after this date will not be considered.

Presenters will be notified of acceptance via email by September 8, 2023. Presentations selected are at the sole discretion of the NSSF.
