NEWINGTON, N.H., (July 27, 2023) – SIG SAUER, Inc. congratulates Team SIG professional shooters Daniel Horner and Lena Miculek for their impressive performances at the recent USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals. Daniel Horner earned the inaugural first place finish in the newly established Modern Division, while Lena Miculek defended her High Lady title and became the first female to break the top five finishers in the overall Tactical Division.

Daniel Horner, Team SIG professional shooter commented, “I came to this years’ nationals with a mission to reclaim a title after a very close loss last year. The course of fire was extremely challenging, and my skill was tested at every stage of the match. However, I was able to rely on my training and SIG equipment to reclaim a national multi-gun title and deliver a victory for Team SIG.”
Horner competed with a P320-DH3 pistol with a ROMEO1PRO optic, M400-DH3 rifle with a TANGO6T riflescope and SIG 9mm Match Elite competition ammunition, and 5.56 MARKSMAN ELITE Match Competition Ammunition.
Lena Miculek, Team SIG Professional shooter added, “since the launch of Rose by Sig Sauer my focus has been on taking my experience as a professional shooter to provide support and education to the Rose community. This multi-gun nationals brought me back to my roots and the beginning of my own firearms journey; I returned to my family trade of competition shooting to not only defend my Tac-Optics High Lady title but earn a top five overall ranking, raising the bar yet again for women in the firearms world. Nothing is sweeter than getting to celebrate shared success alongside my teammate Daniel Horner, and my father Jerry Miculek. New training, camaraderie, encouragement, and the joy of shared success are just a few of the things I experienced at this multi-gun national that I can’t wait to bring back to the Rose Community.”

Hammer Bullets are turned on a CNC lathe and use a unique solid copper blend that is designed for maximum terminal performance. Each Hammer Bullet used in Weatherby production offerings are tailor-made for Weatherby ammo. These are called Hammer Custom Bullets (HCB). HCBs in the Weatherby line-up feature unique bullet weights and not the standard 140 gr, 180 gr, etc. the industry is used to seeing. During development and testing these custom weights produced the best accuracy and highest velocity making the Weatherby & Hammer a deadly combination. HCBs are a modification of the Hammer Hunters and are optimized for Weatherby’s large-capacity cases and superior ballistics. The bearing surface of Hammer bullets incorporates the patented PDR design (parabolic drag reduction). A continuous parabolic up and down curve, from the shoulder to the boat tail, reduces friction in the bore which equates to decreased pressure and the ability to achieve higher velocities. The PDR design on the bearing surface has proven to be very consistent and forgiving. Upon impact, HCB’s are designed to shed their pedals to create multiple wound channels while the main mass of the bullet continues to mushroom. This results in a devastating wound channel and unmatched terminal performance.
Swift Sciroccos are a bonded bullet with Swift’s signature black tips. Designed for hunting and long-range efficiency, its sleek design and high ballistic coefficients produce flat trajectories for downrange hunting, making it a perfect match for Weatherby Cartridges. Its pure copper jacket is progressively tapered to control expansion throughout a wide range of velocities, this means you get great terminal performance even at longer ranges. The jacket and core are bonded with Swifts proprietary bonding technology.
Berger Elite Hunter bullets are made with the longest possible Hybrid ogive (nose). As the bearing surface ends, the tangent ogive begins, resulting in much less sensitivity to seating depth. As you move beyond the tangent ogive, the shape changes to a secant ogive, maximizing efficiency in the wind. The long-nosed Elite Hunter projectiles produce the highest possible Ballistic Coefficients. Elite Hunter bullets also incorporate a slightly thinner J4 Precision hunting jacket, which allows the projectile to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before rapidly expanding. Upon expansion, the projectile sheds most of its weight producing extreme hydrostatic shock and a massive wound cavity in the vital area. Berger Elite Hunter bullets dump their energy where it is most effective – inside the animal.
With the handloader in mind, Weatherby will also offer premium Weatherby brass for each cartridge. The 50 count offerings will feature tight powder capacity tolerances for precision loading. These premium brass offerings are extremely consistent which helps maintain a low standard deviation in velocity.

EAST ALTON, IL (July 26, 2023) — As the Official Ammunition of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA), Winchester continues its commitment to one of the longest running shooting events in the world, the Grand American Championship.
More than 10,000 competitive shooters and spectators from across the country will journey to Sparta, Illinois for the 2023 ATA AIM Youth Championship and Grand American World Championship, which runs July 27-August 12.
“It’s the Super Bowl of trapshooting and Winchester has been a part of this historic event since 1899,” said Jason Gilbertson, director of marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “Winchester has once again teamed up with the Grand American shell house, bringing in truckloads of the world-famous AA® shotshell target load, the venerable Super-Target® target load and AA Diamond Grade® Elite Trap featuring 8% Antimony shot, which is suited specifically for long-yardage shooters.”
The two-week “Grand Event” kicks off with the AIM Grand Championships, a youth shooting competition where kids from elementary school through college compete against others in their class in Singles, Doubles and Handicap Trap events. After the AIM event, individuals of all ages begin the 11-day Grand American Trap Shoot which consists of daily events like the Winchester AA® Class Singles.
Team Winchester members Matt Bartholow, Foster Bartholow, Harlan Campbell, Keith Ditto and young phenom Dagen Voigtman will be battling thousands of talented shooters in their quest for more championship rings. The Bartholow Brothers will also be hosting their famous youth clinic on Sunday, July 30 by the ATA Grand Stands.

The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) seeks a new part-time executive director. Resumes will be accepted until the position is filled. The executive director is responsible for the organization’s overall management and for leading and directing the implementation of the organization’s philosophy, mission and strategic goals and objectives. The POMA executive director reports to the board of directors and shall help the board fulfill its function in governing the organization.
Primary Functions/Accountabilities:
Leadership & Management:

· Board Administration and Support – Advise and inform the board in all facets of operation, including, but not limited to, governance, accountability and proper procedure conducive to a nonprofit association; acts as liaison between board and staff

· Program and Service Delivery – Work with staff to deliver annual business programs to members, which includes, but not limited to, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products and services, identify, evaluate and propose new courses of action to provide value to media and corporate membership.

· Annual Conference: Work directly with potential host locations for the Annual Conference to include RFP management and is responsible for ensuring locations for events and hotel space meet POMA’s requirements. Conduct regular meetings as needed with the Board Conference Committee, staff and local site (CVB, hotel, etc.) to ensure all conference tasks are executed. Assist members with questions, registration issues, hotel reservations, etc.

· The executive director must attend any in-person and online events hosted by POMA.

· Human Resource Management – Effectively manage the organization’s employees or contractors according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws, regulations and industry best practices.

· Fundraising (nonprofit specific) – Oversee fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources (including non-dues income), establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation.

· Membership Recruitment and Retention – Work effectively to grow membership and retain members through positive communications and customer service. Oversee Membership Committee duties as listed

· Actively engage and energize POMA volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations and funders.

· Lead, coach, develop and retain the nonprofit’s high performance; ensure effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate program components to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders and other constituents.

· Financial, Tax, and Risk Management – Work with accountant to reconcile books and report financials to the board monthly. Work with accountant to recommend yearly budget for board approval and prudently manage the organization’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations and industry best practices.

· Community and Public Relations – Ensure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented to relevant stakeholders in a strong, positive image. Raise the organization’s visibility through the development and implementation of a sustainable marketing campaign geared to its various constituencies and the public. Deepen and refine all aspects of communications- from web presence to external relations- to create a stronger brand.

How To Select The Right Rifle Bullet
How To Select The Right Rifle Bullet

Not all bullets are created equal. It’s not just a matter of quality, either. Some hold together and pass directly through the target, others mushroom, and some fragment. Each has a place and Federal builds them all. Use this guide to choose the right bullet for your hunt.
Lead Soft Points
Soft point bullets that consist of a lead core wrapped in a copper jacket have been the bread-and-butter of big game hunters for most of modern ammunition history. The design works. It’s accurate, consistent, less expensive to build (and buy), and provides all the terminal performance most situations demand, for the species and distances most hunters shoot.
This broader category is further divided into cup-and-core and bonded bullets. Like their name implies, cup-and-core bullets are formed by pouring molten lead into a pre-formed jacket. Federal Power-Shok is a classic example. Its bullet expands aggressively on impact, which is ideal for taking down medium-size, relatively lightly built game like deer and antelope.
Federal Premium’s Berger Hybrid Hunter loads are another example. The bullet design blends the low drag of a match-grade target projectile with that of a traditional hunting bullet capable of filling the freezer. A nose shape referred to as a hybrid tangent-secant ogive means exceptional accuracy across a range of cartridges and rifles.
Although they’ve taken countless larger animals like elk, moose and bears, all cup-and-core bullets can start to break apart on contact with heavy bone and other tissue, making shot placement critical. That’s where bonded projectiles come in. Unlike cup-and-cores, the copper jacket is electrochemically fused to the lead core at the molecular level. This largely prevents the bullet from breaking apart on impact with tough tissues. It’s important because a bullet that sheds mass loses energy much faster than one that stays intact. So, a bullet that retains weight will penetrate deeper than a bullet of the same size that breaks off bits of jacket and core.
That’s the case with Terminal Ascent. These match-grade bullets promise remarkable accuracy, and the bonded construction ensures deep penetration on close targets and the toughest game. Trophy Bonded Tip is another powerhouse that offers extremely high weight retention.
For the whitetail crowd, Federal Fusion is the leading bonded bullet. It’s molecularly bonded copper jacket and pressure-formed core ensure maximum weight retention and deep penetration. Since the jacket and core don’t separate on impact, the bullet performs better when it contacts heavy bone.
Copper Monoliths
Although they were largely created in response to areas that require the use of lead-free ammo, copper bullets carry benefits beyond simple legality. Unlike traditional projectiles that consist of at least two components—the jacket and the core—copper projectiles like Federal Premium Trophy Copper, Barnes TSX and Federal Power-Shok Copper are a single piece. That fact, coupled with the copper-alloy material’s metallic properties, results in almost 100 percent weight retention. This can be a huge benefit for hunting large game.
Hunters should know, however, that copper bullets don’t expand as easily as their lead counterparts. This isn’t an issue at most distances, but it can lead to terminal performance shortcomings if you anticipate extremely long shots, where the bullets have slowed to a point that doesn’t produce adequate expansion.
Explosive Expanders
If you’re targeting varmints and predators, you want a bullet that’s nearly a polar opposite from what you’d use on big game. Since the animals are small and shots are long, accurate, flat-shooting bullets are best, and there’s no need for tough, powerful bullets that penetrate deep. The best bullets for the job feature thin jackets that fragment violently on impact. Not only does this quickly take down the animal, but it minimizes penetration and damage to the pelt if you’re hunting for hides.

Polymer Tips
If you’re wondering where polymer tips come in, that’s a good question. You’ll find them in use across all of the bullet categories we’ve discussed thus far. Polymer-tipped bullets are great for various reasons, one being better aerodynamics and a higher ballistic coefficient. The better the bullet penetrates the air, the more velocity and energy it retains. This means the bullet drops less and gets pushed off course less by wind—both of which makes it easier to place shots at long range.
The tip also initiates expansion, pushing back into the bullet’s nose on impact and forcing open the petals. Terminal Ascent uses the proprietary hollow-core Slipstream tip to start expansion even at low velocities.
Full Metal Jackets
Before we wrap up, let’s make something clear: Full metal jackets have no business being used for big game hunting. Built with a soft lead core surrounded by a heavy-duty metal outer shell that prevents expansion on impact, FMJs pass straight through without expanding, which likely means a wounded animal.
But they’re great options for sighting in, honing your shooting skills or competing. Federal’s American Eagle lineup is where to look if you’re searching for a quality full metal jacket. The bullets are great for high-volume shooting due to their inexpensive nature, which is a result of how easy they are for the manufacturer to load.

San Antonio, TX (July 25, 2023) –Over the years a collection of used cars, boats, and tractors have taken up valuable space in the yard and on the farm, and now it’s time to figure what to do with them? Donate them.
Donating used vehicles, tractors, boats, ATVs and RVs to Military Warriors Support Foundation is a great way to support an organization that is dedicated to positively affecting the lives of combat-wounded veterans.
Generous donors and supporters make the mission of Military Warriors Support Foundation’s (MWSF) possible. Donations help significantly change the lives of combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star families. Contributions go toward housing, vehicles, and support that are all part of each unique MWSF program. These programs go on to help our heroes in different ways.
One program that Military Warriors Support Foundation offers is the Skills4Life program. Skills4Life provides recreational outings and peer-to-peer mentorship through hunting, fishing, and golfing adventures. This program provides a great opportunity for combat-wounded veterans to connect and find comaraderie through outdoor activities. The Vehicles4Heroes program receives donated cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, ATVs, and even RVs, and then these vehicles are sold at auction. These donations can be in any condition—working, needs minor or major repair, wrecked, or undriveable. Vehicles4Heroes welcomes them all. The money from the auction sale goes directly into the programs Military Warriors Support Foundation offers.
The process of donating is simple; just fill out the online donation form, and our partners at Flexco Fleet Services will contact you to arrange all the details. Military Warriors Support Foundation and Flexco Fleet Services handle the process entirely, from arranging the pickup of the vehicle to managing the title transfer process. Durable
The foundation of the SFT9 begins as a solid block of the highest quality T6-7075 Aluminum that is precision machined on computer-controlled machining centers until all that remains is the finished one-piece solid frame. The solid frame design is more rugged than other firearm designs with a modular grip/frame construction and thinner, with a width of only 1.155 inches. The reduced diameter of the Wilson Combat Solid Frame along with the TRAK grip strap texture improves recoil control and reduces muzzle flip during rapid fire.

Tarpon Springs, FL (July 25, 2023) – New for 2023, Barnett® presents a full line of King Rat Slingshots sure to bring adventure to hunters of all ages. The King Rat series is rooted in David Barnett’s childhood and draw from over 60 years of hunting and adventure.
Barnett was founded in the early 1960’s by David Barnett’s Father in the industrial market town of Willenhall, West Midland, England. As a boy, David Barnett visited his father’s workplace, often after school, waiting to be taken home. For his seventh birthday in 1972, his father brought back from America a tubular band slingshot. The new contraption was so different from all the things he had seen from classmates and neighbors.
Mesmerized by the slingshot, he couldn’t wait to kill some vermin with the “Pocket Full of Power.” Armed with marbles, David Barnett set out amongst the overloaded trash bins in the backyards of the local buildings as he set his sights on the numerous Black rats that scavenged in the area.
“One day, I was in luck and hit one so square, it slid up against the wall and started screeching loudly, bouncing up and down until it finally froze still. As I walked over to it with the excitement of the kill, it started screeching loudly again, and to my horror, the ugliest and biggest Black rat I had ever imagined ran in and started tearing it apart, 10ft from me. Looking at me with a bald, fire-burnt red face, it hissed, unflinching and unafraid,” recalled David Barnett.
To this day, half a century later, he still remembers that day so vividly. It wasn’t long after that that the family business started to make slingshots. So, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Barnett and to try to put this “demon” to rest, David Barnett has decided to relive the excitement of a young boy’s adventures with slingshots with the King Rat Slingshot designs.
The King Rat line of Barnett slingshots includes the Havoc, Havoc Hunter, Cobra, Black Widow, Black Widow Hunter, and Ambush models. One of the highlights of Shot Show 2023, in the optics arena, was the introduction of RITON’S 5 Tactix 1-10X24 LPVO. This long-awaited first focal plane optic was designed as a bridge between the lower magnification Low Power Variable Optics and the long range engagement variable optics. Its 10X of magnification allows for a more precise longer range engagement. The 3OT tree reticle and integrated throw lever system makes this new offering from RITON OPTICS a winner for 2023.

Upcoming Review–Streamlight’s ProTac 2.0
The T.V. series, Dragnet, first appeared in 1949 and was last aired in 2003. It was one of the best cop shows ever produced. In that series L.A.P.D.’s Joe Friday, played by John Randolph Webb, often said:
