SANTA BARBARA, CA (August 16, 2023) – The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara and Cohiba handmade cigars are pleased to announce the debut of The Cohiba Experience at The Bacara, the first of its kind cigar lounge in the US.

Following a launch event on August 11th, 2023, the Cohiba cigar lounge will be open to hotel guests, club members and the public, Wednesday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Overlooking the resort’s sprawling grounds and offering breathtaking ocean views, The Cohiba Experience is outfitted with hand-painted murals, comfortable seating, firepits and a walk-in, cedar-lined humidor, set against the backdrop of the hotel’s Spanish Mission architecture. NSSF Files Amicus to Inter-American Court of Human Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, filed an amicus brief in response to a request for an advisory opinion submitted by Mexico to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR). NSSF argues the Court should decline Mexico’s invitation to issue an advisory position as Mexico is attempting to use the Court to bolster their erroneous $10 billion lawsuit against U.S. manufacturers and undermine the bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) passed by Congress in 2005.

That case is being considered on appeal by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit after being dismissed by a U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Mexico brought a second case against five Arizona-based firearm retailers, baselessly accusing them of illegal international firearms trafficking. A motion to dismiss the case is pending.

“Mexico is attempting to improperly influence sovereign U.S. Courts by co-opting an international human rights court that has no jurisdiction on the pending appellate decision,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Mexican authorities failed to disclose this $10 billion lawsuit against U.S. manufacturers, a result of their own failures to confront narco-terrorists on their side of the border, which are responsible for the horrific crimes and illegal international firearms trafficking. Mexico is attempting to co-opt the IACHR without having to answer how firearms are lawfully made and sold in the United States but illegally trafficked across the border through illegal criminal networks and corrupt government officials.”

NSSF is sympathetic to the plight of the Mexican people, but it is a consequence of their own government, not of lawful U.S. companies.

Mexico’s request for an advisory position from the IACHR Inter-American Court of Human Rights reveals the disdain for the sovereignty of U.S. law and Constitutionally-protected freedoms. Mexico’s abuse of the IAHCR is an attempt to attack the sovereign jurisdiction of U.S. Courts to attempt to compel a favorable decision that would trample on Constitutionally-protected rights and punish the lawful firearm industry in a manner that is specifically prohibited under U.S. law.

The IACHR has previously noted in rejection of other previous advisory opinions that it avoids, “being used as a mechanism to obtain an indirect ruling on a matter that is in dispute or being litigated at the domestic level.”

Mexico’s rush to judgement is a transparent attempt to levy the IACHR against U.S. Courts to inflate a weak legal theory.

The firearm industry is strictly regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). All firearms lawfully-made and lawfully-sold at retail are accompanied with an ATF Form 4473 attesting the purchaser is not a prohibited individual, which is verified by an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verification.

NSSF has longstanding, decades-old partnerships with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and ATF for the “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy TM” straw purchase prevention program and Operation Secure Store® to assist firearm retailers in protecting their inventory against burglary and robbery.

Wixom, MI – The Trijicon RMR® created the standard for what a miniature rugged reflex optic should be. Built on the foundation of the Trijicon RMR Adjustable LED model, the RMR HD features a large, clear lens made from tempered glass and has the same footprint as the RMR. The larger lens provides an unobstructed view of the target and aids in finding and tracking the reticle more easily.

In auto mode, the RMR HD’s advanced forward-looking light sensor automatically adjusts dot brightness to the target environment for effective use in any lighting scenario, including the use of a weapon light. The auto-brightness range can also be customized so that the auto mode will vary in a higher or lower range depending on the user’s preference, and a button “lock out” mode will keep the RMR HD in auto mode even if a button is inadvertently pressed.

With nine brightness settings, controlled by larger, more responsive buttons, the user can also easily select which brightness level they would like when in manual mode and “lock-in” that setting indefinitely if they choose.

The RMR HD features a top-loading battery compartment, allowing the RMR HD’s single CR2032 battery to be replaced quickly and easily without the need to re-confirm the zero of the optic. The battery will provide over three years of continuous use at the dot-only brightness setting 5 of 9 at 70ºF.

The RMR HD is compatible with all existing RMR mounts and optics-ready pistols and is designed to fit many existing optics-ready duty holsters. The RMR HD is also sized to work with optic-height co-witness sights built for the current RMR or SRO.

The patented RMR-shape of the forged 7075 T-6 aluminum housing absorbs recoil and other impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens. Built with Trijicon’s precision engineering expertise, the optic’s elevation and windage adjustments are audible, precise, and repeatable, without the need for any special tools. The optic is waterproof up to 66 ft., is drop tested, vibration tested, and will operate in extreme temperatures.

Following the spinoff of its Outdoor Products business, Vista Outdoor will be rebranded as The Kinetic Group, whose name, logo and NYSE ticker “HUNT” were unveiled today along with an inspirational video in an employee town hall in Lewiston, Idaho.

Sporting Products President and CEO Jason Vanderbrink revealed the new company name, logo and ticker symbol while re-emphasizing ammo leadership, community support and conservation.

The new name of the Outdoor Products company will be released in the coming weeks.

ANOKA, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Vista Outdoor Inc. (NYSE: VSTO), the parent company of 41 renowned brands that design, manufacture and market sporting and outdoor lifestyle products to consumers around the globe, today announced its new name and identity that will be effective following the planned spinoff of Vista Outdoor’s Outdoor Products business.

Post-spin, Vista Outdoor will be rebranded as The Kinetic Group, a name that surfaced among employees during the naming process and represents the energy behind the company and its leading ammunition brands. The Kinetic Group will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the stock ticker “HUNT,” and the brand will feature original logo artwork of a North American ram. Sporting Products leaders unveiled The Kinetic Group’s branding to employees during an employee town hall on Aug. 10 at the CCI-Speer ammunition factory in Lewiston, Idaho.

“The performance of our products is so often measured in energy on target. Kinetic energy is the force behind our world-class brands and exhibits the spirit of the 4,500 American workers who represent our company,” said Jason Vanderbrink, Sporting Products President and CEO. “The process of developing a new company name and identity has been exciting and inspiring. The rebranding of Sporting Products is one of several milestones for Vista Outdoor as the company plans to separate its Sporting Products and Outdoor Products segments. In the Sporting Products segment, Vanderbrink was named CEO of the segment in April to go along with his title of President. In July, he was appointed to the Vista Outdoor board of directors, and he will be a director on The Kinetic Group’s board of directors post-spin. Joining Vanderbrink on The Kinetic Group’s leadership team are Andy Keegan (CFO) and Jeff Ehrich (General Counsel and Corporate Secretary).

In the Outdoor Products segment, Eric Nyman will begin as CEO of the segment on Aug. 21, and he will be CEO of the new Outdoor Products company post-spin. The new Outdoor Products company will be led by Nyman and a dedicated management team that he will hire. Vista Outdoor will announce the name of the new Outdoor Products company in the coming weeks, followed by the unveiling of the company’s branding at Investor Day in October in New York City.

Gary McArthur will continue as interim CEO of Vista Outdoor until the completion of the spinoff. McArthur will focus on completing the separation of Vista Outdoor’s Sporting Products and Outdoor Products segments in calendar year 2023, in addition to overseeing Vista Outdoor’s corporate, administrative and financial reporting functions, risk management, stockholder engagement, and ensuring strategy cohesion and coordination across both segments. McArthur will continue serving on the board of directors of Vista Outdoor until the separation and will become the chair of the Outdoor Products company’s board of directors post-spin.

Separation Update

On May 5, 2022, Vista Outdoor announced that the company plans to separate its Outdoor Products and Sporting Products segments into two independent, publicly traded companies. The company is on track to execute the separation in calendar 2023. The Form 10 has been confidentially submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The Top Shot Sub-Junior program will recognize the top 4 competitors and each will receive 25 cases of Winchester AA® target shotshells, as well as a gear package. The year-long points race winners will be announced at the conclusion of the National Championship in San Antonio, Texas, on October 29, 2023.

NSSF Challenges Unconstitutional Illinois Law Attacking Free Speech, Blame-Shifting on Crimes

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, filed a legal challenge to Illinois’ unconstitutional law that seeks to muzzle firearm manufacturers’ and retailers’ First Amendment right of free commercial speech and to regulate industry members’ commercial conduct in every state of the Union. Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the Firearm Industry Responsibility Act into law and NSSF immediately filed its challenge.

“The flawed logic of this unconstitutional law is second only to the contempt for which the authors and Governor Pritzker hold for the Constitutionally-protected right of the citizens of his state to keep and bear arms,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “This law bans commercial free speech, which is protected by the First Amendment. It also requires firearm manufacturers and retailers to establish undefined ‘reasonable controls’ to prevent criminals from lying on background check forms. The irony is that the firearm industry works hand-in-hand with the ATF and Justice Department to prevent illegal straw purchases of firearms while the governor signs laws that set criminals free on the streets to prey on the innocent citizens of Illinois. Just like Governor Pritzker’s signature on a law banning cash bail, this law empowers criminals and punishes those who obey the law. We are confident that this unconstitutional law will not survive.”

Illinois’ Firearm Industry Responsibility Act criminalizes First Amendment-protected commercial free speech by banning advertising with vague definitions of “intent to appeal to minors.” Gun control politicians in Illinois are attempting to restrict law-abiding citizens from passing on safe firearm handling and shooting skills to the next generation by squelching ability to depict it in advertising. Only adults over the age of 18 can legally purchase a long gun and only adults over 21 can legally purchase a handgun.

This law also victimizes lawful firearm manufacturers and retailers for crimes committed by remote third parties. This law would allow lawsuits against firearm retailers for being the victims of “smash-and-grab” burglaries and robberies.

This law shifts the blame of responsibility for an illegal straw purchase from the criminal committing the crime to firearm manufacturers and retailers. The law requires manufacturers and retailers to employ ill-defined “reasonable controls,” yet each and every retail firearm purchase requires a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Form 4473 to be completed and signed by the purchaser attesting that the intended recipient of the firearm is, in fact, the purchaser. Lying on that form is a federal felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The firearm industry partners with the ATF and the Justice Department on the “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy TM” program to warn the public of the punishment for this crime. Individuals flouting the law are responsible for their criminal actions and must be held accountable. No business can be held responsible for the illegal and criminal acts of those who consciously choose to violate the law.
