True Velocity Introduces Composite-Cased 5.56x45mm Cartridge for Civilians
INITIAL CONFIGURATIONS OFFER REDUCED WEIGHT, EXTREME CONSISTENCY AND RUGGED RELIABILITY
GARLAND, Texas (July 17, 2023) – Texas-based ammunition manufacturer TV Ammo, Inc. (“True Velocity”) announced today the launch of its composite-cased 5.56x45mm cartridge, making the company’s advanced, lightweight ammunition available in the most widely consumed caliber in the U.S. commercial market.
Beginning in July 2023, True Velocity’s 5.56 round will be available for purchase at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s retail locations nationwide, as well as online at basspro.com and cabelas.com.
True Velocity will initially offer the 5.56 cartridge in the following three configurations, with additional options forthcoming:
True Velocity’s composite-cased ammunition is designed to offer extensive advantages over traditional brass-cased ammunition, including exceptional dimensional consistency, significantly enhanced accuracy, reduced heat transfer, and an approximate 30 percent reduction in weight over traditional brass-cased cartridges. The 5.56 line of products will be the first to be produced with True Velocity’s Generation 3 advanced manufacturing technology, offering a level of process control, precision and automation that is unprecedented in the ammunition industry.
“There are hundreds of millions of rounds of 5.56 ammo consumed in this country every year,” said True Velocity Chairman and Co-CEO Kevin Boscamp. “We’re extremely excited to make True Velocity’s composite case technology available to the shooters who rely on this caliber. I’m confident they will see very quickly what makes our ammunition superior.”
True Velocity’s introduction of a composite-cased 5.56x45mm product expands the company’s commercial line of ammunition, which was initially launched in multiple configurations of .308 Winchester in July 2021. The company expects additional new caliber introductions over the next year.

POLISH MOD TO ACQUIRE BATCH OF SPIKE LR MISSILES IN A NEW DEAL WITH RAFAEL & POLISH MESKO
August 6, 2023: The Polish Ministry of Defense, through its Armament Authority, announced that it is purchasing hundreds of SPIKE LR Missiles through RAFAEL’s local industrial partner, MESKO, in a deal worth around 100 Million Dollars.
As RAFAEL’s local Polish industrial partner, MESKO has already manufactured SPIKE Missiles for the Polish MOD, and this will be the third such deal involving the SPIKE Missile Family. MESKO and RAFAEL have collaborated in working with the Polish market since 2003, allowing for the sale of completely “Poland-ized” missiles to be provided for the Polish user. The robust local manufacturing capabilities have provided the Polish MOD with over 3,000 SPIKE missiles that are entirely Polish-made.
The legacy of success between RAFAEL and MESKO has brought about yet another achievement. Through 20 years of joint work, the companies have helped support the Polish defense establishment in securing the country’s valued assets and providing its armed forces with the most sophisticated technology of its kind in the world.
In keeping with RAFAEL’s global strategy, the support of local industry and allowing for not only technology transfer but also know-how has brought about another example of local industrial success and a thriving global partnership. Slim, High-Performance Light Designed for Easy Pocket Carry, One-Handed Use
EAGLEVILLE, PA, August 3, 2023 – Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting, launched the USB-C rechargeable Wedge® XT, the latest in its line of high-performance everyday carry (EDC) lights. Delivering up to 500 lumens for two hours on high, and measuring just 4.25 inches, the new light features a flat, low-profile design that allows for concealed carry in either pocket, and a tactical push-button tail switch for easy, one-handed use.
“Like the popular Wedge® EDC light, the unique, ergonomic design of the Wedge XT makes it the perfect concealed carry light for patrol duty, tactical maneuvers, and automotive, industrial, or DIY uses,” said Michael F. The new light features an intuitive tail switch that provides tactile control over the light’s momentary or constant-on operation. A Five-Tap™ lockout feature of the switch also prevents the light from turning on inside a pocket or bag. A handy deep-pocket clip secures the light to any pocket or other places for easy access.
The Wedge XT uses power LED technology to provide two output levels: On High, it offers 500 lumens, 1,900 candela, an 87-meter beam distance and a run time of two hours. The Low setting provides 50 lumens, 200 candela, a 28-meter beam distance and a run time of 11 hours. A TEN-TAP® programmable switch allows users to select from two different programs: high/low or low/high.
The Wedge XT features an integrated 950 mAh lithium polymer cell battery that can be conveniently recharged in the light by plugging the included USB-C cord into the waterproof USB port. The battery fully recharges in six hours; red and green indicator LEDs above the charge port provide charge status.
Made from rugged anodized aluminum and featuring a polycarbonate lens, the Wedge XT balances durability with performance. Measuring 4.25 inches long and 1 inch high, it weighs 2.62 ounces with the battery. It is IPX7-rated for waterproof operation to one meter; it also is impact-resistance tested to one meter.

City of Industry, CA (August 3, 2023) – It is well known that solar backup optics are just that, a backup. Generally, a solar panel attached to an optic will power the optic reticle and not charge the device battery. These solar panels do not mitigate the need for battery changes but can act as an ambient power supply for the reticle or a backup if/when a battery fails. This changes now as Holosun releases the SCRS in 2023.
The SCRS (Solar Charging Rifle Sight) advances Holosun’s SCS technology, creating an all-new, ultra-compact 20mm tube sight designed for rifle applications. The HCS handle is made in Forprene, an elastomer that meets the “NATO standard” for its exceptional resistance to extreme conditions.

GA-ASI MOJAVE STOL UAS COMPLETES FIRST DIRT OPERATION
Mojave Demonstrates Takeoff and Landing Versatility on Unimproved Surface
SAN DIEGO – 03 August 2023 – On August 1, 2023, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) completed multiple successful takeoffs and landings with its Mojave Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) on a dirt strip near El Mirage, Calif.
The ability to take off and land on unimproved surfaces demonstrates Mojave’s departure from traditional fixed-wing aircraft’s dependance on prepared runways. This new capability provides greater versatility and allows the aircraft to operate in areas previously deemed unsuitable for UAS operations.
“Being able to execute missions in austere locations with runway independence opens the operational envelope for commanders across all services and geographic locations,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “Mojave can do this while retaining significant advantages in endurance and persistence over Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) and manned aircraft.”
The flight tests were the first-ever Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) on a dirt surface for Mojave. Takeoffs were performed in as little as 586 feet; and short landings were completed in as little as 335 feet. The tests were primarily focused on gathering terrain feedback using Mojave, not achieving the shortest distances possible.
Tracing its lineage from the MQ-1C Gray Eagle and MQ-9 Reaper, Mojave is a technical demonstrator with STOL capability, making it a versatile expeditionary UAS. Adhering to Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) principles, Mojave leverages the modernized avionics, data links, sensor integration, and laptop ground control station of GA-ASI’s Gray Eagle 25M program. These features – along with Mojave’s enlarged wings with high-lift devices, combat-proven 450-HP turbine engine, and ruggedized landing gear – make it ideal for semi-improved surfaces with a small ground support footprint.
Mojave provides options for forward-basing operations without the need for typical airport runways or infrastructure, so it can be rapidly deployed from and recovered to non-traditional discrete locations. To extend operational reach, Mojave can fit into a C-130 and be rapidly assembled and employed. These innovations make Mojave the perfect UAS to perform Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA), attack, and contested logistics support missions.
Designed to be rapidly deployable and expeditionary, Mojave’s tailored features include a ruggedized airframe that enables operations in austere conditions and weatherization that enables flight in wider environmental windows. Robust wing storage means it can carry up to 16 Hellfire or equivalent missiles, assorted munitions, Launched Effects (LEs), or logistical resupply pods. Mojave can provide greater operational flexibility while still being equipped with a multi-sensor suite that includes Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Synthetic Aperture Radar/Ground Moving Target Indicator (SAR/GMTI), Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) to support land or maritime missions throughout Joint All-Domain Operations (JADO).
