Designed for improved speed and accuracy in any light, the R3D 2.0 features a notch and post design with two rear tritium dots and a high-contrast, Orange or Green dual-illuminated Glow Dot front sight that is wider than many on the market at 0.145”. The Glow Dot’s self-luminous tritium vile glows in low or no light for 12 years and is surrounded by XS’ proprietary photoluminescent dot material that absorbs ambient light to glow in low light. This makes the front sight brighter than the two rear tritium dots and, combined with the wide notch, provides more visible indexing for increased precision and accuracy.

FAA Extends Remote ID Enforcement Date Six Months
Drone pilots who are unable to comply with the broadcast requirement of the Remote ID Rule will now have until March 16, 2024, to equip their aircraft. After that date, operators could face fines and suspension or revocation of pilot certificates.
In making this decision, the FAA recognizes the unanticipated issues that some operators are experiencing finding some remote identification broadcast modules.
Drone pilots can meet this deadline by purchasing a standard Remote ID equipped drone from a manufacturer or purchasing a Remote ID broadcast module which can be affixed to existing drones that do not have Remote ID equipment.
Remote ID acts like a digital license plate and will help the FAA, law enforcement, and other federal agencies find the control station when a drone appears to be flying in an unsafe manner or where it is not allowed to fly.

NSSF Warns New Mexico Governor Against Enforcing Unlawful Public Health Order
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is warning New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to not attempt to enforce her Public Health Order requiring the state’s Regulation and Licensing Division to conduct monthly inspections of licensed firearm retailers to ensure compliance with all sales and storage laws, in addition to unconstitutionally banning the Second Amendment right to bear arms in public spaces.
“There is no other way to say it other than the entire order is blatantly unlawful,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “New Mexico’s governor does not have the authority to suspend rights protected by the Constitution for a falsely-labeled public health crisis. No where in New Mexico statute, or in regulations, does the authority exist for state officials to inspect firearm retailers. This order is devoid of any legal basis and the government of New Mexico should reconsider taking action on this unlawful order.”
There is no New Mexico statute, nor any New Mexico regulations, on compliance or storage requirements. Firearm retailers in New Mexico are heavily regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and are subject to federal laws and regulations governing the lawful and constitutionally-protected commerce in arms. New Mexico’s governor and the state Regulation and Licensing Division have no authority over the federal agency’s regulations.
Therefore, any such state “inspection” would be standardless and disrupt and harm the business operations of licensed dealers who are regulated and inspected by ATF. Should the state attempt to inspect any federal firearms licensee in the state pursuant to this unlawful order, NSSF will immediately file a legal challenge to enjoin this unlawful conduct.

GA-ASI Poised to Begin LongShot Flight Testing Phase
SAN DIEGO – 11 September 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is poised to begin the flight-testing phase on the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) LongShot program. Begun in 2020, General Atomics was competitively awarded a contract to develop DARPA’s concept for disruptive air combat operations through demonstration of an air-to-air weapons capable air vehicle. The concept seeks to significantly increase engagement range and mission effectiveness of current 4th gen fighters and air-to-air missiles.
Over the last three years, GA-ASI has iterated on numerous vehicle designs to optimize performance and will complete the design enroute to flight testing in 2024. The testing will validate basic vehicle handling characteristics and lay the foundation for follow-on development and testing.
“We are extremely excited to get in the air!” said Mike Atwood, Senior Director of Advanced Aircraft Programs at GA-ASI. “Flight testing will validate digital designs that have been refined throughout the course of the project. New Kastinger brass catcher.
The Kastinger brass catcher will save you from having to pick up your cases after your shooting sessions. Designed to offer a permanent view on the ejection chamber, this accessory catches 100% of the cases and has a 30-shot capacity bag with a zip for emptying. Compact and ergonomic, it is designed not to cause discomfort during handling or dynamic shooting, whether for right- or left-handed shooters. Designed for the French Army HK416 (other models to be confirmed), this brass catcher simply attaches on the side picatinny rail via a clip system.
Ecological and hygienic
Developed in response to the French Army’s need to allow soldiers to train in compliance with new environmental and ecological standards, this accessory allows you to stop leaving cases behind, whether after shooting sessions or training with blanks ammunition. Casings contain toxic and polluting components, making them dangerous for both humans and the environment (compliance with the Natura 2000).
Thanks to its ventilated design, this case recuperator disperses the gases coming out of the weapon during firing so that they are not released onto the user when the brass catcher is opened.
Increased safety
Using this accessory also makes training safer. This system eliminates the risk of falling due to casings on the ground during urban combat. It also eliminates the possibility of incidents caused by the projection of casings. Finally, the Kastinger brass catcher, being a perfect solution for the management of shooting waste, prevents any third party from picking up cases left on the ground after training.
Low position
The Kastinger brass catcher has a high position, in front of the chamber, to catch the casings, and a low position to access to the chamber.
This lower position means you can react quickly in the event of a jamming scenario, as well as being able to control your chamber by touch when it’s dark or when visibility is limited.
The transition between the two positions is made quickly and smoothly.

Fering scoops defense contract to develop military-spec Pioneer
Electrified utility vehicle start-up Fering wins contract to supply military versions of its Pioneer
The Pioneer is ideal for tactical and reconnaissance duties due to its lightweight, modular platform and ease of transportation
Micro-grid capabilities and silent running open up new operational opportunities
Electrified all-terrain vehicle start-up Fering has secured a contract to develop and supply a military version of its innovative Pioneer 4×4.
The British company will build and supply special prototypes for evaluation ahead of full production, working closely with a specialist tactical unit. These will be built alongside civilian versions of the vehicle.
In addition to the unique flexibility offered by the Pioneer’s innovative design, defense buyers are especially interested in the opportunities to create ‘micro grids’ in remote locations using the Fering’s electrified powertrains.
The Pioneer is the brainchild of ex-Ferrari and McLaren engineer Ben Scott-Geddes, who has repurposed supercar and racing technology to create an off-road vehicle which is light, easily transportable, and unusually efficient.
It uses an ultra-lightweight architecture incorporating what is believed to be the world’s first carbon-fiber utility chassis. Mated to aluminum structures, the carbon chassis provides excellent resistance to corrosion and structural fatigue, extending the vehicle’s service life compared to conventional alternatives.
Besides the low weight, its supercar-inspired engineering means the Pioneer offers class-leading interior space for improved occupant comfort and equipment storage, but the exterior dimensions mean it can be easily transported by air. This is especially attractive to the defense sector, where quick deployment times to inaccessible areas are vital.
Once in ‘theatre’, the Pioneer is uniquely capable in harsh terrain, has a high payload and is able to survive ‘off grid’ for thousands of miles without needing refueling supplies thanks to its high efficiency and large fuel and battery capacities.
Ben Scott-Geddes said: “Our original design brief of creating the ultimate sustainable all-terrain vehicle has inevitably attracted the attention of the military. We developed the Pioneer to be sustainable in terms of its carbon footprint, making it efficient, compact and light in weight, and these are all qualities which are also prized by the defense industry.
“We have received funding to create military prototypes which will be assessed in the field. We are working closely with a specialist unit to ensure these vehicles meet and exceed their operational requirements.”
The Fering’s modular design structure allows it to be quickly and easily customized for specific mission requirements, with simple integration of specialist systems and powertrains, and multiple body configurations of single-cab, double-cab and more.
For example, all Pioneers are capable of silent and low-heat operation which can give a tactical advantage in combat situations. The hybrid version has four battery boxes that are easily accessible and can be dismounted from within the cabin, enabling them to provide quick battery swaps and localized, off-grid power supplies. This ability to ‘offboard’ power also allows the Pioneer to act as a forward operating base to support equipment required for extended operations.
While stationary, a Pioneer’s generator engine can supply up to 42kW for 60 hours without refueling. It can also provide 30kW while mobile, supplying charge to devices and smaller vehicles such as electric motorbikes and drones.
The Pioneer’s outer body materials are also easily interchangeable to suit mission requirements. These include Fering’s innovative technical fabric, which offers excellent noise and thermal insulation qualities and can carry its own Kevlar light ballistic protection. The Pioneer can also include solid panel body work with optional additional armored solutions.
The Pioneer’s fully adjustable independent suspension with an onboard tire inflation system provides impressive handling characteristics and optimum off-road capabilities, even when heavily laden.
Pilot production of the Pioneer has already begun at Fering’s new factory and headquarters in Battersea, London.
The Pioneer
Despite its imposing appearance, Fering’s Pioneer is no larger in any direction than a typical delivery van and is around the same length as a BMW 3-Series. It also weighs the same as a family hatchback and almost half the figures for some electric and hybrid 4x4s, with a curb weight of 1,650kg.
Power to the axles is provided solely by two electric motors – unusual for an off-road vehicle. But they are perfectly suited to the task, providing instant torque, controllability, and reliability. They provide a total of 800Nm of torque; far more than a comparable diesel 4×4.
A battery provides a zero local emission, electric-only range of around 50 miles. The Pioneer’s range extender generator is then available. Unlike conventional electric vehicles, the powerpacks are designed to survive in extreme temperatures.
Customers will be able to specify their vehicles to be configured with different combinations of battery pack and range extender fuel to cater for local conditions and operational needs.
The Pioneer’s unique and distinctive appearance is partly due to the use of fabric for many of the body panels. This special material is similar to that used in hiking boots and marine sails, making it light in weight, strong and easy to repair. It also has far better insulation properties – for both noise and heat – than traditional metal or composite.
The next stage of Fering’s development will see the Pioneer going into low volume production in early 2024, followed by larger scale batch production in 2025.
