ANOKA, Minnesota – January 16, 2024 – The U.S. Navy has selected Federal Ammunition as a contract awardee for 7.62x51mm rifle ammunition.
“Federal continues to position itself as a trusted supplier for the U.S. Military and Special Operations,” said Peter Gillette, Federal’s Director of International LE & Military Sales. “We are excited for this contract win. It validates the quality of our products, thoroughness of our testing procedures, and dedication to hard work from our American factory workers.”
The cartridge selected during the two-year contract term is the Mk316 Mod 0, 7.62x51mm, 175-grain precision match rifle load. The ordering period is for a total of two years. The ammunition will be produced by Federal at the Anoka, Minnesota facility.
“In general, our match ammunition has a legendary reputation for extreme accuracy, shot after shot, lot to lot. It is trusted time-and-time-again by police and military marksmen,” continued Gillette. “Mk316 Mod 0 fits in perfectly with Federal’s history of producing extremely accurate ammunition held to tight tolerances required by strict U.S. Military specifications.”

The Type 10 is a WATCHTOWER Firearms SPEC OPS platform for long-range precision shooting. The Type 10 is based on the DPMS high-profile pattern and manufactured from high-grade 7075-T6511 billet aluminum. WATCHTOWER has upgraded the fire control group by incorporating Hiperfire’s EDT2 Heavy Gunner trigger — a single-stage semi-auto LE/SWAT AR upgrade. The TYPE 10 includes WATCHTOWER’s Tru-Black PVD coated 7.62x51mm NATO MPI-tested Durabolt BCG — our most robust, durable, and easy-to-clean coating. The barrel is a stainless steel 18-inch .308 Win. with 1:8 rifling featuring a mid-length gas system finished in a black nitride coating. Surrounding the barrel is the 15-inch S7M free-floating handguard with M-LOK attachment slots at five positions, 4 QD points, and a full-length 1913 Picatinny rail. WATCHTOWER’s Dragon Slay-AR compensating muzzle brake is incorporated at the end of the barrel, a device to mitigate recoil, finished in a Tru-black PVD coating. This rifle also comes with B5 Systems reinforced polymer pistol grip and buttstock.
Initially carrying an MSRP of $1,649.99, it is now available for $1,402.49 – a 15 percent savings.

Attendance at the conference will be limited to United States citizens who have been granted a SECRET or higher personnel security clearance and who have the need-to-know. Foreign persons and U.S. citizens employed by a foreign controlled company will be prohibited from attending.
The security procedure for USW Spring Conference involves two essential steps: first, complete the background form (required for individuals without a valid DOD CAC ID Card or a valid retired military ID), and second, submit your clearance through DISS. Please note, these steps cannot be completed onsite and must be completed by Thursday, February 29, 2024.
1. Background Form – For those who do not have a valid DOD CAC ID Card or Retired Military ID (if you have a CAC ID Card, do not complete this step)
If you do not hold a valid DOD CAC ID Card or Retired Military ID, submit your personal information using the instruction sheet through the DBIDS Website, this is a secure DOD Website. Please ensure you follow the instructions on the instruction sheet. Once you complete the online form, you will need to send the confirmation page to the POCs outlined in the instructions. The deadline to submit is Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Failure to complete the form and submit the confirmation page by the deadline will result in refusal or delayed entry to the base. Please be aware that the office where the form is processed is not situated on the base and may take up to 4 hours to receive approval.
2. Security Clearance
The deadline to submit your paperwork for security clearance is Thursday, February 29, 2024. Failure to submit your clearance information in time will result in the inability to attend the conference. For additional details on how to submit your clearance, please visit the security website.

On my way to a meeting, I made a quick stop at Magpul’s exhibit specifically to check out their steel P320 magazine. The new AMAG 17 SG9. This is a 17-round SIG P320 9mm handgun magazine featuring a heat-treated, stainless-steel alloy body with polymer sub-components. Magpul AMAGs come with a high-visibility, controlled-tilt follower, stainless-steel spring, flared floorplate that’s easily removable for cleaning and routine maintenance, paint-pen dot matrix for magazine marking, and capacity-indicator windows which begin at five (5) rounds, and continue along the spine of the magazine in one-round increments.

An excellent companion to the Big Iron Belt Holster, the SB24 features Galco’s Center post buckle design and double rows of stitching.
The Center Post buckle is a design within our Flat Back Belt Collection. The open-architecture buckle is investment cast in our in-house foundry. Its unique post-style attachment allows it to lie flat for a neat and crisp appearance. The buckle is solid brass on tan belts, nickel-plated solid brass on black belts.
The Flat Back name is derived from how flat the belt sits when worn, compared to traditional mechanical or plate buckle belts. Traditional belts require the leather strap to be wrapped around the buckle attachment point, creating three belt layers when worn, versus only two layers with the Flat Back Belt design.
The belt strap is constructed of two layers of steerhide with a double row of stitching. Seven holes spaced 1″ apart allow a broad range of fit and adjustment.
Available in tan with a solid brass buckle, or black with a nickel-plated solid brass buckle.

One of the issues that discourage shooters from dry fire practice is the fact that every time you press the trigger you need to rack the slide to reset the trigger, well those days are gone and now you can dry fire until you drop without ever having to rack your slide. All you need do is purchase a DryFireMag for your specific platform and you’re good to go. The company currently manufactures the DryFireMag for most Glock full frame & Slim line pistols, Springfield XD, Smith & Wesson M&P and Sig Sauer P320.

Now, nine years later, Thea is a recognizable firearms instructor specializing in handgun training, and has started a series of women-only training courses that introduce women to responsible firearm ownership and defensive shooting.

The Strike Modular Chassis (SMC) – BRAVO for SIG Sauer P320 by Strike Industries is a new lite version of the MOST MODULAR P320 (SMC Alpha) Chassis in the WORLD at a fraction of the Alpha’s price. Customer feedback was heavily weighed and taken into consideration when we developed this chassis so when we say the Bravo was made with the user in mind, we mean it.
The new SMC Bravo is made of Polymer Extreme™ which is durable and lightweight — intended to receive P320 FCU’s and slides to complete the entire ensemble. This time around users can fully utilize their P320 optics-ready slides to effortlessly install their red dot sights! In terms of upgraded features in the Bravo, the ergonomics have improved with a textured grip which now includes a built-in flared magwell to assist with quick and smooth reloads.
Our optional Ambidextrous Side Charging Handle with a Slide Cover Mount for the P320 is also compatible so each Bravo user can decide which side they want to rack the slide with. This chassis also more universally accepting of many different types of P320 magazines. Users will enjoy the integrated gas pedal above the Picatinny rail to help fight muzzle flip, allowing for faster follow-up shots.
Derived from the SMC Alpha, the Bravo remains consistent as it comes with the SMC Rear Module Backstrap molded onto the new chassis as one solid piece. It offers users rear ambidextrous QD sockets and a Picatinny rail mount, perfect for attaching various accessories like our Strike Dual Folding Stock/Brace. The ambi QD sockets in the rear can be used with slings and can even have a lanyard or paracord strung through it (in case you want to hang this up somewhere quickly accessible).

Shot Show 2024 : ACE The Virtual Reality of Shooting
Computer based training and simulation is at its infancy and in vogue. In the coming years, that technology will see explosive growth. Why, because it makes sense!
Virtual Reality training increases proficiency by increasing the frequency of training, it is cost effective, eliminating the need for ammunition and elaborate facilities and it facilitates the creation of targeted training objects via software or AI integration. At this year’s Shot Show, I met with Noah from ACE VR to learn about the company’s system.
Using the ACE system requires three steps:

You’ll need a Meta Quest 2 or 3 VR Headset. Ace is compatible with both, which are the most common and affordable on the market today.

You’ll need buy an Ace Club Membership. The Ace Club Membership gets your Ace Arctus Handset and access to the Ace VR App.
