SIG SAUER Electro-Optics ROMEO-M17 Receives NSN Designation
NEWINGTON, N.H., (October 19, 2023) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is honored to announce the ROMEO-M17 (RM17) red dot sight has been assigned a NATO Stock Number (NSN). This distinguished designation is part of the continued modernization efforts of the Modular Handgun System (MHS) Program. For inclusion on the MHS Additional Authorized List (AAL), the U.S. Army evaluated numerous pistol red dot sights, from multiple manufacturers, through vigorous environmental and performance evaluations and the RM17 and R2 achieved successful selection. In fact, the RM17 stood above the rest as the best performing and most durable sight evaluated. The issuance of the NSN to these products streamlines the procurement process for all NATO members and partner countries as an identified standardized material.
The ROMEO-M17 (NSN: 1240-01-713-9795) was developed from the ground up for the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System and is the ultimate aiming solution. The RM17 will withstand the rigors of the battlefield, featuring the proprietary SIG-LOC™ mounting system with bottom-mount technology and 5 interface points with the pistol slide, for an extremely strong and robust lock-up. Combined with the side-mounted battery the sight has an extremely low position when mounted to the slide, offering a full sight picture and co-witness with the existing standard-height iron sights.

The SIG SAUER Electro-Optics ROMEO-M17 is a mil-spec, fully enclosed and gas-purged red dot reflex sight with a distortion-free glass aspheric lens and is submersible to depths up to 35 meters. Other features include a new and very robust flexure-arm adjustment system made of the same Beryllium Copper found in many riflescope designs, and a housing that is forged and machined from 7075 Aluminum with an integrated loaded chamber indicator (LCI) gas deflector and machined anti-reflection grooves on all rear facing surfaces for reduced glare. The optic incorporates a high-efficiency point source red LED emitter, with 2 MOA dot/32 MOA circle reticle, independent brightness adjustment buttons, 15 brightness settings including night vision settings, and a side-mounted CR2032 battery compartment with a threaded battery cap so the optic does not need to be removed from the pistol for battery changes. The ROMEO-M17 has a minimum continuous runtime of 50,000 hours at medium brightness setting, and utilizes MOTAC™ (Motion Activated Illumination), MAGNETAC™ (Magnetic Activation), and D.A.R.C™ (Dark Adaptive Reticles & Coatings) technologies.

High-Lumen, Long-Range Light Offers Switch Redundancy, Battery Versatility
EAGLEVILLE, PA, October 19, 2023 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting tools, introduced the ProTac® Rail Mount HL-X Pro gun-mounted light, providing up to 1,000 lumens, 50,000 candela, and an extreme beam reach of 447 meters. The new light features an innovative Jack-Cap™ tail cap switch that offers both push-button or remote pressure switch operation, and also offers battery versatility, allowing users to choose between two different battery types.
The lightweight, low-profile ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Pro features a rugged, integrated rail clamp designed to rapidly and securely attach to rifles, carbines and sub-machine guns with a MIL-STD 1913 (Picatinny) or, by using the included M-LOK® mount, to M-LOK or M-LOK compatible rail systems. It is powered by either two 3-volt CR123 lithium batteries or one Streamlight rechargeable SL-B26® lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack. This multi-fuel option allows for use of primary disposable batteries if the rechargeable cell is out of power.
“This newest addition to the ProTac family of weapon-mounted lights is the ‘whole package,’” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “It not only functions as a high lumen light, but with its 50,000 candela and long beam reach, it also puts more light on a target at a distance. This makes it a powerful tactical tool for law enforcement professionals, military personnel and other first responders as they perform room clearing, search operations and other maneuvers under low-light conditions. Its innovative tail cap switch provides switch redundancy, offering both a push-button switch and a port for a remote pressure switch. And users can choose between rechargeable and disposable batteries, depending on preference or availability.”
The new light mounts to a broad range of weapons safely and securely by means of a one-handed, snap-on and tighten interface that permits users to keep their hands away from the gun muzzle. The light’s multi-function, push-button tail switch offers momentary and latching constant on operation; the optional remote switch is available in momentary only and momentary/latching versions. Both allow for one-handed operation of the light’s momentary, constant on or strobe modes. The light is also TEN-TAP® programmable to allow for selection of three different programs: high/strobe (factory default), high only, or low/high.
The ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Pro uses the latest in power LED technology for extreme brightness. When using the SL-B26 battery pack, the light delivers 1,000 lumens, 50,000 candela and a 447-meter beam distance on high. On low, it provides 60 lumens, 3,100 candela, and a beam distance of 111 meters.
When using CR123A batteries, the new light runs for up to 1.25 hours on high and 21 hours on low. With an SL-B26 battery pack inserted, the light’s run time is up to 1.75 hours on high and 24 hours on low. The run time for the strobe feature is up to 3.5 hours depending on the type of battery used.
The new light is fabricated from 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum with Type II MIL-Spec anodized finish. It measures 5.43 inches in length and weighs 6.6 ounces with two CR123 batteries and 7.2 ounces with the SL-B26 rechargeable battery pack. When using the standard push-button switch, it is IP67-rated for waterproof operation to one meter for 30 minutes, and is IP54-rated for water-resistant operation with the remote pressure switch installed. Extensively live-fire tested, the light is impact-resistance tested to two meters.
The ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Pro is available as a Light Only or as a System, which includes a remote pressure switch, Jack-Cap tail switch, remote retaining clips, double-sided tape, zip ties and a M-LOK® mount.
It has an MSRP that ranges from $210.00 to $266.00 depending on the configuration and includes Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

ESCORT BTS Bullpup Shotguns are Built to Last
Rogers, AR (October 19, 2023) – The ESCORT® BTS Bullpup offers all the perks of the VTS series shotguns in a more compact, portable package. This next-generation shotgun is available in either 12 ga or .410 cal and is offered in either black or FDE Cerakote. Their compact nature makes these shotguns an excellent choice for field use or home defense.
The 12-gauge models feature an 18” barrel with removable chokes, including an extended cylinder bore choke brake that helps tame recoil with heavy shots or slugs. Also included are full and improved cylinder flush-mount chokes, with additional options available from HatsanUSA. Each gun ships with two 5-round magazines, but an optional 2-round magazine is also available. The gun’s SMART Valve Piston will cycle 7/8 oz to 2 oz magnum loads in 2 ¾” and 3” magnum rounds, credited to its self-regulating design.
The .410 models feature a 20” barrel with a fixed cylinder choke, suitable for both shots and slugs. This shotgun is one smooth operator, offering the same recoil-absorbing characteristics as the larger caliber models. The BTS ships with two 5-round magazines, but an optional low-capacity mag holds three shells. The gas operation performs similarly; standard and magnum loads cycle smoothly and reliably without requiring external adjustments.
The length of any bullpup is an advantage over traditional designs. Using the same gas-piston system as the other VTS shotguns, the BTS Bullpup is slender, with smaller dimensions. The synthetic barrel cover features Hatsan’s patented ThermoDefend technology that absorbs and dissipates heat while containing the gas operating system. A DuraDefend magazine enhances the durability against extended use.
The BTS Bullpup provides an exceptional shooting experience with enhanced ergonomics and thoughtfully laid-out controls. Recoil is expertly managed between a soft rubber buttpad and a long recoil spring. The soft rubber pistol grip is removable and can be exchanged for one of many currently available aftermarket options to suit the individual user. The tough polymer lower receiver also doubles as the forend grip, with soft rubber inlays for improved handling.
The BTS Bullpup features a one-piece carry handle sight that can be replaced with the included flip-up sights for a lower profile or when using mounted optics. Picatinny rails are also located on either side of the forend to accommodate a variety of accessories. The reversible charging handle provides the capability for ambidextrous use.
As with all ESCORT shotguns, the barrels are proof-tested at the factory to ensure quality and durability. The hard chrome and/or Cerakote coatings look great and are built to withstand the harshest conditions. HatsanUSA offers a 5-year limited warranty with all ESCORT firearms.

Atlanta Campaign Targets Illegal Gun Purchases
NSSF, ATF, DOJ Emphasize ‘Don’t Lie for the Other GuyTM’
ATLANTA — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, together with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), announced a month-long public education campaign reminding the Greater Atlanta area public about stiff penalties facing individuals convicted of unlawful firearm purchases. The “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” campaign is in its 23rd year and drives home the message that anyone making an illegal firearm purchase faces a federal felony penalty of up to 15 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. An additional 15 years can be added if the straw purchase is made with the intent of trafficking across state lines. The program is funded in full by the firearm industry. Atlanta was chosen for this specific campaign by ATF.
“The firearm industry has always been fully committed to keeping firearms out of the hands of those who should not possess them. We are proud to launch this public awareness campaign in Atlanta and of our more than two-decade cooperative relationship with ATF, DOJ and the entire law enforcement community to assist them in their efforts to reduce criminal acquisition of firearms,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi.
The Atlanta area “Don’t Lie” campaign will total more than 21.6 million gross media impressions running across a pool of 132 digital billboards, posters and transit shelters, as well as MARTA bus and rail inventory in key locations throughout the region with the message: “Buy a gun for someone who can’t and buy yourself 15 years in jail. Don’t Lie for the Other Guy.” The campaign also includes more than 500 radio spots playing on four major FM stations. On social media “Don’t Lie” advertisements will run across Facebook and Instagram, in addition to geofenced mobile display ads, generating an additional 3 million impressions.
To legally purchase a firearm, a person must pass an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System verification, or NICS check, and fully comply with all state and local laws. When a criminal is illegally trafficking in firearms or knows they cannot pass this check, they may try to induce a friend or acquaintance to make the purchase for them. This is a straw purchase and is a felony.
The “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” program also involves educating firearm retailers to better detect and prevent straw purchases by providing “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” retailer kits containing a training video and information for storeowners and staff, as well as point-of-purchase displays aimed to deter illegal straw purchasers.

SAN DIEGO – 19 October 2023 – During a ceremony at ADEX (Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition) on Oct. 18, 2023, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. Keegan, who has been serving as Vista Outdoor’s interim CFO since November 2022, is well known by investors and analysts and is highly respected across the industry. His financial leadership and expertise have been especially valuable since Vista Outdoor announced it will separate into two businesses. These assets make him the ideal candidate to lead Revelyst’s financial team and join the management team alongside the Outdoor Products segment’s recently appointed CEO, Eric Nyman.

Vista Outdoor Enters into Definitive Agreement to Sell Sporting Products Business to Czechoslovak Group for $1.91 Billion

ANOKA, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Vista Outdoor Inc. (NYSE: VSTO) (“Vista Outdoor”), the parent company of 41 renowned brands that design, manufacture and market sporting and outdoor products to consumers around the globe, today announced a definitive agreement to sell its Sporting Products business to Czechoslovak Group a.s. (“CSG”) for an enterprise value of $1.91 billion in an all-cash transaction subject to customary closing conditions. This transaction represents the next step in Vista Outdoor’s plan to split the company into separate entities, which was previously announced on May 5, 2022.
CSG is a leading industrial technology holding company, operating within five strategic business segments, including defense, aerospace, ammunition, mobility and business. CSG is 100% owned and led by Michal Strnad, who has transformed it into a leading Czech industrial group with a strong international footprint. CSG employs more than 10,000 people worldwide and it owns and manages a diverse portfolio of industrial and trade companies across the defense and civil sectors.

Transaction Details
The transaction values the Sporting Products business at an enterprise value of $1.91 billion, on a cash-free, debt-free basis with a normalized level of working capital, and is supported by $1.11 billion of fully committed debt financing with the remaining amount funded by CSG. The valuation is approximately 5x enterprise value to Sporting Products FY24 EBITDA, including estimated standalone costs. To effect the transaction, Vista Outdoor will separate its Outdoor Products business from its Sporting Products business, and CSG will merge one of its subsidiaries with Vista Outdoor (holding only the Sporting Products business), with current public stockholders of Vista Outdoor receiving shares of Outdoor Products (recently rebranded as Revelyst) and approximately $750 million in cash in the aggregate. This will be treated as a taxable sale of a stockholder’s Vista Outdoor shares for the Outdoor Products shares and cash consideration they receive in the merger, allowing stockholders to recover tax basis and recognize built-in gain and loss in their Vista Outdoor shares. Relative to a divestiture of Sporting Products as an asset sale, this structure has corporate level tax of approximately $50 million versus approximately $380 million for a divestiture as an asset sale and allows for the tax-efficient return of cash to stockholders.
The transaction is expected to close in calendar year 2024, subject to approval of our stockholders, receipt of necessary regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
Upon closing, Vanderbrink will remain CEO of the Sporting Products business and the U.S. headquarters will remain in Anoka, Minnesota. In connection with the transaction, the company’s approximately 4,000 employees who represent four factories and the consumer brands CCI, Federal, HEVI-Shot, Remington and Speer will continue their heritage of community and conservation support through local and national organizations.
Outdoor Products
Upon completion of the sale of the Sporting Products business to CSG, Vista Outdoor’s Outdoor Products business will become Revelyst, Inc. (“Revelyst”), an independent publicly traded company trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “GEAR.” Revelyst will leverage meticulous craftsmanship and cross-collaboration across its portfolio of category-defining brands. Sporting Products
Sales are expected to be between $347 million and $352 million, a decrease driven by a challenging economic environment for consumers and market normalization which resulted in pressures across multiple categories.

Outdoor Products
Sales are expected to decrease to a range of $325 million to $330 million. The decline was driven by decreased buying across all business units as channel partners continue to be cautious with purchasing due to inventory levels and as consumers are pressured by high interest rates and other short-term factors, partially offset by inorganic sales contribution.
Operating income is expected to be in the range of $11 million to $15 million as retailers continue promotional pricing to move through inventory resulting in lower sales and bottom-line pressure.

US Patriot Announces 2023 Bravery Tour Winner
U.S. Patriot, a GALLS® company, completed a 6,800-mile, 25-military base tour, and has announced the lucky winner of the tour Jeep and $10K.
Lexington, KY (October 2023) – In May 2023, U.S. Patriot, a GALLS® company, launched a four-month, 25-military base Bravery Tour celebrating U.S. military Service Members, past and present, and their families for their service, bravery, and sacrifice. The U.S. Patriot team, which includes several U.S. military veterans, drove a 2023 Jeep® Wrangler Willys 4×4 wrapped in a beautiful red, white, and blue U.S. Patriot livery across the nation.
The tour interacted with the military service members, celebrating everything they do for our nation. The tour also brought their voice directly into how U.S. Patriot serves them better for tactical gear needs. Several service members left their unit’s memorabilia on the Jeep, making it one-of-its-kind in the nation.
Today, Karen Igglehart, SGT-US Army, was announced the winner after a random drawing from the hundreds of thousands of entries received. Igglehart was presented with the keys to the JEEP and a check for $10,000 at the U.S. Patriot store in Fort Stewart, Georgia. Igglehart enlisted in the US Army in 1982 and served 12 years as an E-5 Noncommunications Interceptor/Analyst in Bravo Company, with the 224th Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Stewart, GA.
“I knew that every entry counted. My husband joked that I was wasting my time. However, I entered every day, and today, I’m beyond excited to be the lucky winner of the JEEP and $10,000! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind interacting with the U.S. Patriot team. About the Webinar
While high energy lasers (HELs) have intrigued the public, policymakers, and military leaders for decades, these weapon systems have often struggled to make it past the testing stage of development. A notable example, the Air Force’s Air Borne Laser (ABL), was capable of megawatt power and had successfully shot down several ballistic missiles, yet struggled to achieve desired range, beam quality, and cost effectiveness, and was subsequently shut down. However, recent years have seen promising advancements in laser technology, particularly with solid-state and fiber lasers. Substantial funding is now dedicated to the development of HELs, and it is increasingly likely that this technology will transition to programs of record. In all likelihood, laser technology will have a permanent and increasingly important role to play in future defense strategies. This presentation will discuss the basics of laser technology, illustrate the importance of laser weapons to the Department of Defense (DoD), and provide an overview of ongoing DoD and government activities to develop and deploy laser technology.

The Speaker
Dr. Donald A. Shiffler, Jr is Chief Scientist of the Directed Energy Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. He serves as the senior science and technology advisor for the directorate’s research and development of high energy airborne lasers, airborne high power microwave systems and dense plasmas, long-range non-lethal weapons, laser communication systems, and sophisticated optical system technologies for space situational awareness.
As Chief Scientist, Dr. Shiffler oversees the directorate’s research in support of the development of transformational defense concepts. Dr. Shiffler identifies research gaps and analyzes advancements in a broad variety of scientific fields relevant to directed energy technology and imaging research technologies. He encourages new and innovative initiatives, as well as adjustments to existing directed energy programs to meet current, emerging, and future Air Force needs. These technologies develop and transition into military systems for the Air Force and the Department of Defense.
Dr. Shiffler’s career with the AFRL began in January 1995 at the Philips Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, in the areas of High-Power Microwave sources, pulsed power, and explosive pulsed power. His research has focused on HPM technology, including basic physics, HPM sources, pulsed power, vacuum electronics, and novel materials. Dr. Shiffler’s work directly enabled the Counter-electronics HPM Advanced Missile Project Joint Capability Technology Demonstration. His career includes experience as a research scientist and professor in academia. Dr. Shiffler has published more than 55 referred technical papers in national and international publications. He has presided over numerous conferences, has 13 domestic and international patents on five continents, and led several Cooperative Research and Development Agreements, demonstrating transition of research to industry.

Young Homicide Victim Posthumously Receives Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from University of Nevada, Reno (UNR)
The posthumous degree was presented to Markisha Hibbler’s mother at a special dinner hosted by The Retired Investigators Guild (the RIG) on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, in Reno, Nevada.

Reno, Nev. (October 2023) – The Retired Investigators Guild (the RIG) and the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) jointly presented a posthumous Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in Markisha Hibbler’s name to her mother, Tinker Davis, at a dinner hosted on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, in Reno, Nevada. It was previously announced that a perpetual scholarship was established in Hibbler’s honor at UNR. Hibbler was the first person in her family to attend college and was working toward her nursing degree at UNR when she was murdered in the early morning hours of Sept. 19, 2015. The case was originally classified as an accident until it was assigned to Detective Mike Marty, then the lead homicide investigator for the Nevada State Police. Marty’s expertise and diligence revealed the true cause of death and led to the capture and incarceration of Markisha’s killer.
Marty, who today is the co-founder and CEO of the RIG said, “What our team and sponsors did leading up to this event is something that will ensure the memory of this young homicide victim will live forever. It is evidence that we have what it takes to make a difference in helping the victims and survivors of violent crimes.”
“Markisha always helped people in need, it is why she was going to college to become a nurse. This special gift the RIG has given to our family means Markisha will keep helping people. My family is so grateful for this,” commented Davis.
Donna Knotek, Executive Director of Development at UNR, and University President Brian Sandoval were instrumental in granting the posthumous degree and establishing the perpetual scholarship in Hibbler’s name.
