AG Composites Privateer Stock on Ballistic magazine’s 2023 Top Rifle
OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. (Dec. 1, 2023) — For the second time this year, a prominent publication has named the Wilson Combat NULA Model 20, featuring an AG Composites Privateer composite stock, as its best new rifle of 2023. This time it’s Ballistic magazine, with the results detailed in the magazine’s special edition Ballistic Best Guns of the Year issue in an article titled “Ballistics’ Best Rifles: Bolt Action Hunters,” by author Jay Langston. This follows the same rifle named Best New Rifle of 2023 in Field & Stream magazine in an article written by that magazine’s Shooting Editor, Richard Mann.
“Once again, a prominent shooting publication has selected the amazing Wilson Combat NULA Model 20, featuring our Privateer composite stock, as the best of the best,” said Matt Tandy, AG Composites owner. “This custom-crafted stock design is a big part of the rifle’s superior overall handling characteristics and pinpoint accuracy, which this stock can do when added to any rifle. With the NULA 20, Wilson Combat was able to add a hinged floor plate, as well as reduce the rifle’s base price more than 20 percent over the rifle’s original version. That’s a win for both the manufacturer and consumer.”
In Ballistic magazine, reviewer Rich Modzelewski – a former combat marine and trained gunsmith who currently owns a gun shop – said, “This is a great rifle that’s very light. The stock profile is on point and prevents muzzle flip … just a hardy push rearward.”
In the Field & Stream review, author Mann noted, “The AG Composites’ stock was stiff enough to allow you to tightly torque into a shooting sling for support without the stock pressing against the barrel or causing a point-of-impact shift. Another wise carryover from the NULA design is the negative drop on the stock’s comb. The heel of the stock is higher than the nose of the comb and just about a quarter inch below the bore line. This helps direct recoil straight back, and it allows you to get a good cheek weld with proper eye alignment through the riflescope. But also very important, it allows the comb of the stock to simply slide past your cheek bone during recoil as opposed to pounding into it.”

GA-ASI AND USMC COMPLETE FIRST MQ-9A WTI TRAINING CLASS
MAWTS-1 Graduates Will Be Employed as MQ-9A Experts
SAN DIEGO – 30 November 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) teamed up to conduct flight training for Marines that was completed on Oct. 29, 2023. The seven-week course on the operation of MQ-9A Block 5 Unmanned Aircraft System was given to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. The students participated in Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course 1-24, which is a comprehensive course designed for selected pilots and enlisted aircrew that incorporates Marine Corps planning along with implementation of advanced air and ground tactics.
WTI, recognized as an advanced, graduate-level program, provided standardized, advanced tactical training, and played a crucial role in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics both over land and in maritime environments. The Marines were trained using a GA-ASI-supplied MQ-9A, and the graduates of WTI will now go on to be the experts in MQ-9A Block 5 employment in their squadrons.
The training is a critical part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Unmanned Expeditionary (MUX) Medium-Altitude, High-Endurance (MALE) program meeting Full Operational Capability (FOC). GA-ASI is a committed partner in helping the USMC meet this critical program milestone.
“We congratulate the new graduates of WTI and Semper Fi,” said GA-ASI Vice President of DoD Strategic Development Patrick Shortsleeve. “GA-ASI is proud to support the training of the MAWTS-1 aircrews in the use and utility of the MQ-9A platform.”
Renowned for its fault-tolerant flight control system and triple-redundant avionics system architecture, the MQ-9A UAS embodies the industry’s highest standards of reliability and performance, surpassing those of many manned aircraft.
GA-ASI has delivered nine MQ-9A UAS to the USMC so far. Four of these MQ-9A aircraft are actively engaged in operational missions, playing a vital role in supporting mission-critical Marine Corps objectives. The USMC awaits delivery of 11 additional aircraft, which will fulfill their goal of three squadrons by 2025.

This new comprehensive support system for First Shots hosts provides many benefits, including being able to recover startup costs and build program momentum. Hosts must be NSSF members to benefit from these incentives.
First Shots is a long-running NSSF program designed to increase participation in the shooting sports by providing introductory and refresher target-shooting experiences in a safe, supportive environment. First Shots classes are fun and memorable, and they provide the perfect opportunity for first-timers, new gun owners and former participants to confidently enjoy target shooting.
Funding and Much More
NSSF funding for First Shots partners, which was previously limited to marketing co-op efforts, is now available to qualifying NSSF member ranges, instructors and shooting sports organizations to help cover a variety of expenses related to First Shots hosting efforts. Hosts are eligible to receive $15 per First Shots participant, up to a maximum of $1,500. The amount of funding that qualifying hosts may be awarded is at the sole discretion of NSSF.

NSSF Rebukes Sens. King and Heinrich MSR Ban Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, flatly rejects the Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion (GOSAFE) Act, which would ban the sale of Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) and most other semi-automatic rifles. This proposed legislation is clearly unconstitutional, as the U.S. Supreme Court held in Heller that entire classes of firearms cannot be banned from legal sale and possession by law-abiding citizens. The bill was introduced today by U.S. Sens. Angus King (I-Maine) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.).
“The legislation introduced by Senators King and Heinrich is openly defiant of the rights protected by the U.S. Constitution. There is no path forward for legislation of this nature that would deprive law-abiding citizens the ability to lawfully possess the firearm of their choosing and the full spectrum of their Second Amendment rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “This legislation is a knee-jerk reaction to a travesty for which the American public is still demanding answers as to why the Lewiston murderer, who clearly showed signs of mental instability and professed to violent threats, was allowed by state and federal agencies to continue to possess firearms. Depriving law-abiding citizens of their Constitutional rights for the criminal acts of a depraved individual doesn’t make our communities safer.”
The legislation introduced by Sens. King and Heinrich would ban the sale of commonly owned gas-operated, semiautomatic rifles that can accept detachable magazines. The bill would also place a federal limit on magazine capacity, a measure that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found had no appreciable effect on crime reduction during the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.
The murderer in Lewiston, Maine, was identified by military authorities while training in New York as having shown signs of violent criminal intent and was involuntarily committed to a mental health facility by authorities for two weeks before being released. Federal law should have prohibited the possession of firearms but there was clearly a failure to properly report and act on this information. The murderer reportedly made threats of violent attacks against a National Guard facility in Maine. New York State Police were notified and reacted to the verbal threats made by the murderer, as well as Maine State Police. While the investigation is ongoing, it appears that neither the military nor either state law enforcement agency reported these instances to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
NSSF championed the FIX NICS Act, which compelled federal agencies and incentivized state authorities to submit all disqualifying records to FBI NICS. The law was named after NSSF’s FixNICS® initiative to change the law in 16 states and in Congress to get all disqualifying records submitted to FBI NICS to ensure firearms remain out of the hands of those who cannot be trusted to possess them. The FIX NICS Act was signed into law by President Donald Trump after the U.S. Air Force failed to submit disqualifying records of the murderer in Sutherland Springs, Texas, who should have been disqualified from purchasing firearms before his crimes. The failure of the U.S. Air Force to follow the law and submit several instances of disqualification resulted in the background check system being incomplete.
There are over 24.4 million MSRs in circulation since 1990, which are used daily for lawful purposes, including self-defense, hunting and recreational target shooting.

IDV delivers the first MTV “12kN” vehicle to the Dutch Armed Forces
In 2019, IDV has signed a contract with the Dutch COMMIT to provide 1,185 medium multirole protected vehicles within the “12kN & RCWS” project. The delivery ceremony of the first unit was held on November 30th, 2023, at the NEDS exhibition in Rotterdam in presence of Vice Admiral Jan Willem Hartman, Commander of the Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) and National Armaments Director.
IDV, a company of Iveco Group, delivered the first 12kN vehicle to the Dutch Armed Forces. The handover ceremony of the Manticore, which is the name given to the 12kN vehicles by the Dutch Armed Forces, was held during this year’s edition of the NIDV Exhibition for Defense and Security (NEDS) in presence of Vice Admiral Jan Willem Hartman, Commander of the Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) and National Armaments Director.
The delivery of the first vehicle represents an important milestone in the consolidation of the strategic partnership between the Dutch MoD and IDV, further emphasizing the company’s commitment to playing an important role in the multirole vehicle segment for defense and homeland security missions.
