The Escort AS is gas-operated, semi-automatic, and chambered in a 3-inch magnum. An eye-pleasing Turkish walnut stock and a 28-inch, oxidation-resistant, chrome-plated barrel also come standard on both guns. Like other Escort series shotguns, AS models include Hatsan’s FAST Loading System, enabling faster and easier loading with one hand without the need to change shooting positions. The loading switch acts as both a carrier latch release for loading and the bolt release when the bolt is locked back. Each gun also incorporates a Smart Valve Piston that will flawlessly cycle ⅞-ounce to 2-ounce magnum loads in 2 ¾-inch and 3-inch magnum rounds. This patented design is so user-friendly that hunters can mix heavy and light loads in the same magazine without a hiccup.
Each shotgun has a rubber buttpad for excellent recoil absorption, with spacers to extend the length of pull and stock shims that allow for generous adjustment of drop and cast for a better fit. An anodized aircraft alloy receiver with an 11-mm groove for optics mounts, 7-mm checkered and ventilated anti-glare rib, manual cross-button trigger safety, and brass bead sight all say the Escort AS is built on quality. Included are five chokes (F, IM, M, IC, CYL) and a 4+1 magazine capacity.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is adding to its robust offerings at SHOT Show® with a first-ever state Attorneys General Forum to discuss the legal landscape and what is being done by the leading law enforcement officers in several states to fight back against Second Amendment and firearm industry attacks by the Biden administration by the leading law enforcement officers in several states. The forum, called “Badges, Boots and Beer” will focus on ongoing legal questions and the amici briefs these attorneys general submitted to the courts challenging many of the proposed and final rules by the Biden administration.

These attorneys general are the leading law enforcement officials in their states and are riding high in the saddle to keep the gun control predators at bay. The Attorneys General Forum will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 4-5 p.m. at the Great Outdoors Plaza, Caesars Forum.

Eliason, previously with Bushmaster and Windham Weaponry, brings 34 years of executive-level sales experience to Hydra Weaponry.
Hermon, Maine (December 2023) – Hydra Weaponry, Maine’s largest firearms employer, designers, and manufacturers of the truly modular MARCK-15 Hydra® Weapon System, announce industry executive, Mark Eliason, has joined Hydra Weaponry as the new vice president of sales and marketing.
Eliason began his career in the firearms industry at Bushmaster. When CEO Richard Dyke sold Bushmaster to Cerberus Group in 2006, the company was moved out of Maine. Dyke reopened the Bushmaster facility under the new name Windham Weaponry and Eliason became VP of Sales and Marketing for the new company.
Ironic as it may seem, Hydra Weaponry is a return home for Eliason. His former boss Dyke purchased a small Maine-based firearms company called Gwinn Firearms, founded by Mack Gwinn Jr, a Vietnam Special Forces officer turned firearms designer and manufacturer. This company became known as Bushmaster. Gwinn developed the first Bushmaster pistol and rifle. Eliason recalls his first job putting together guns in Dyke’s basement in high school.
“There is a minimal learning curve for me in joining Hydra Weaponry since I have been working with variants of the original Bushmaster and modular rifles with Windham,” Eliason said. “I am looking forward to this new adventure working with Hydra Weaponry, a Maine company that manufactures innovative and versatile firearms products.”
Eliason will be drawing on his 34 years of experience in sales and marketing to increase brand awareness among distributors and dealers, as well as, create sales and marketing programs for the growing line of Hydra Weaponry firearms.
“We are very excited to have Mark on our team,” Mack Gwinn III stated. “He has the experience and relationships already built within our industry to help give our brand access to critical sales channels.

The NDIA Undersea Warfare Division is excited to announce the return of the Spring Undersea Warfare Conference in San Diego. In response to pressing global security requirements, the classified conference will emphasize kill chain capabilities to support undersea overmatch through joint capabilities. Our Day Two sessions are organized around this theme, with sessions relevant to the Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, and Assess (F2T2EA) model.

· Find, Fix, Track, Target (F2T2) in support of Undersea Overmatch
Capabilities, CONOPS, and technologies that can be employed to Find, Fix, Track, and Target (F2T2) in support of Undersea Overmatch. Of particular interest are emerging technologies that can be rapidly fielded or existing capabilities that can be used in new and novel ways.
· Kinetic Effects
New or evolved kinetic effectors can enable more targeting and planning options. This session will explore new kinetic effects that are available now or projected to be operational within the next five years. Of equal interest are kinetic effects enabled by new uses of or combinations of existing capabilities. Where possible, the presenter should provide thoughts on how the proposed effects will change options available to planners and operators.
· Non-Kinetic and Unconventional Effects
Non-kinetic and unconventional effects provide planners more options when preparing for or responding to geopolitical events. This session will explore new and emerging technologies and how these capabilities can be employed. Of equal interest are non-kinetic and unconventional effects enabled by new uses of or combinations of existing capabilities. Where possible, the presenter should provide thoughts on how the proposed effects will change options available to planners and operators.
· AI|ML as an enabler for Undersea Overmatch
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are enablers of undersea warfare decision superiority. This session will explore how AI|ML can enhance our ability to maintain undersea overmatch. Where possible, the presenter should provide thoughts on how the proposed effects will change options available to planners and operators.
Individuals are required to submit a concise abstract of 5,000 characters or less by January 8, 2024. Abstracts must be UNCLASSIFIED and cleared for Distribution A. Authors will be notified whether their abstract has been accepted by February 1, 2024. Why a Fillet?

During a recent Congressional Fly-In, Vista Outdoor joined OIA and other industry representatives to promote passage of the outdoor recreation legislative package.
ANOKA, Minn. — Vista Outdoor Inc. (NYSE: VSTO), the parent company of 42 renowned brands that design, manufacture and market sporting and outdoor products to consumers around the globe, today announced its support of the EXPLORE Act — or Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences Act — a package of bills specific to the outdoor recreation industry. The bill was introduced in late November by House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.), House Committee on Natural Resources Ranking Member Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and an 18-member bipartisan group.
Vista Outdoor, along with other outdoor industry stakeholders, urges Congress to pass the EXPLORE Act, formerly known as America’s Outdoor Recreation Act (AORA), to boost local and regional economies, protect public lands and increase access to outdoor recreation for all.
“Policies within the EXPLORE Act will enable long overdue permit streamlining, update outdoor recreation infrastructure, improve mountain bike trails and increase access to green spaces in underserved communities,” said Fred Ferguson, Vista Outdoor’s VP of Public Affairs and Communications. “These policies have strong bipartisan support and are commonsense solutions to maintain and enrich the places we love most.”
Joining Ferguson in Washington for meetings and advocacy were members of Vista Outdoor and several of the company’s Outdoor Products brands. They included Vishak Sankaran, Group President, Outdoor Accessories and Golf, Vista Outdoor; Jeff Sposito, President, Stone Glacier; and Diane Bristol, VP Community and Culture, Simms Fishing Products.
On Dec. 7, Vista Outdoor Corporate Communications Manager Eric Smith joined leaders from the Outdoor Industry Association and other outdoor businesses to push for passage of the bill. Smith, who is a member of OIA’s Recreation Advisory Council, and representatives from REI Co-op, Orvis, NEMO Equipment and OIA’s general counsel discussed the benefits of the legislation with key Congressional staff on Capitol Hill.
Below are several key provisions in the EXPLORE Act that Vista Outdoor and other outdoor stakeholders have been pushing Congress to pass:
SOAR Act: This bill intends to create parity within permitting, including on guided bike trips, fundamentally improving the way people access and experience the outdoors.
BOLT Act: Long-distance bike trails are one of the fastest-growing segments of gravel riding, and this bill will attract more users to federal lands.
Range Access Act: Recreational shooting and hunting have grown to include more diverse and active shooting sports participants. Expanding range infrastructure will promote safety, minimize dispersed target shooting and support wildlife conservation funding, as target shooting is the leading contributor to Pittman-Robertson.
The fight for passage of the EXPLORE Act has been ongoing. Last fall, every brand in Vista Outdoor’s portfolio called on leadership in Washington to pass AORA. In March, Ferguson delivered remarks before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Federal Lands, asking leadership in Washington to pass several groundbreaking recreation bills.
And last May, when the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources was making progress on AORA by reporting the legislation out of committee, Vista Outdoor sent a letter to the Committee’s two ranking senators — Joe Manchin, D-W.V., Chairman, and John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Ranking Member — to thank them for supporting and championing the bipartisan legislation that will benefit the now $1.1 trillion outdoor recreation industry.
