EAGLEVILLE, PA, March 13, 2024 – Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting, announced today the promotions of Eric Pike to Director of eCommerce and Digital Shelf Architecture, Kevin Burger to Director of Automotive and Hardware, and Geoff Evans to Sales Director, Canada.

Eric Pike, formerly the Director of Automotive and Hardware, will now direct Streamlight’s eCommerce strategy, focusing on ensuring a consistent shopping experience across all digital platforms. He will also be responsible for Streamlight’s third-party reseller program to onboard and manage qualified partners, and oversee the company’s data governance and standardization protocols.

Pike joined Streamlight in 2003 as National Accounts Manager and later moved into the role of Director of Automotive/DIY. Over the last 18 years he also managed the company’s Amazon sales presence, strengthening the company‘s digital brand, user experience, and digital growth. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from North Adams College.

In his new role as Director of Automotive and Hardware, Kevin Burger will be responsible for sales and distribution within the Automotive/DIY division, providing input for the annual sales and operating plans and direction for the market’s National Account Mangers and Manufacturer’s Representative Agencies.

Burger joined Streamlight in 2008 as a National Sales Manager in the company’s Automotive/DIY division. Over the years he played a key role in building and managing Streamlight’s automotive accounts and partnerships and also worked on various cross-divisional marketing activities for the Sporting Goods and Federal/Military markets. Burger is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies, minoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice.

Geoff Evans has accepted the new position of Sales Director, Canada with responsibility for developing and managing sales and distribution tactics and initiatives for Streamlight’s Industrial/MRO, Fire/Emergency Response, Law Enforcement, Sporting Goods, Automotive, DIY and Federal/Military markets. He will work closely with the company’s Canadian Manufacturer’s Representative Agencies to maximize sales coverage and performance. He will also continue to manage the Streamlight relationship with distributor W.W. Grainger’s operations in the US.

Evans joined Streamlight in 2007 as Regional Sales Manager for the Midwest Region and was promoted to National Accounts Manager/Fire Market Specialist in 2016, and to Canadian Market Manager in 2019. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University as well as a Certified Professional Sales Certification from the Institute for Professional Advancement in Chicago, Illinois.

FAAs Remote ID Discretionary Enforcement Policy Ends March 16.

Attn Public Safety: Drone Pilots Must Comply with Remote ID!

The FAA’s policy for exercising discretion in determining whether to take enforcement action for drone operators who were not able to comply with the Remote ID Rule ends on March 16, 2024. Operators who do not comply after that date could face fines and suspension or revocation of their drone pilot certificates. Public safety officials can visit the FAA’s compliance program website to learn more about enforcement. Additionally, the FAA’s Public Safety and Government webpage provides information on authoritative guidance.

Remote ID applies to drones which are required to be registered or have been registered with the FAA, including those flown for recreation, business, or public safety, and drones that are foreign-registered.

Why is Remote ID necessary?
Remote ID is necessary to ensure the safety and security of the national airspace system by distinguishing compliant airspace users from those potentially posing a safety or security risk. Remote ID also helps to lay the foundation for routine advanced operations such as package delivery and flying beyond visual line of sight.

What do I need to do?
There are three ways to comply with Remote ID:
1. Operate a Standard Remote ID Drone – a drone produced with built-in Remote ID broadcast capabilities; or
2. Operate a Drone with a Remote ID Broadcast Module – a device with Remote ID broadcast capabilities that can be attached to a drone; or
3. Operate at an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) – areas where drones without Remote ID broadcast capabilities can operate.

How do I know if my drone or broadcast module is Remote ID compliant?
1. Go to the FAA UAS Declaration of Compliance website
2. Click on “View Public DOC List”
3. Filter by “RID” and “Accepted”
4. Search for your drone or broadcast module

My FAA-registered drone or broadcast module broadcasts Remote ID but is not on the Public DOC List, am I Remote ID compliant?
No, even if advertised as “Remote ID ready” or uses other verbiage, only drones or broadcast modules listed on the FAA DOC are in compliance with the rule.

Do I need to update my drone’s registration with Remote ID information?
If your drone or broadcast module is listed on the public DOC list, you need to register or update your existing drone registration through FAADroneZone to include the standard Remote ID drone or Remote ID broadcast module serial number. The Remote ID serial number is not the same as your drone’s serial number. Drone owners should check with their manufacturer for additional information.
Part 107 pilots need to register each drone individually. Therefore, each drone must have its own Standard Remote ID or Remote ID broadcast module serial number.

SAAMI Adds HAZMAT Special Permit Information to Website

SHELTON, Conn. — The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute®, Inc., (SAAMI®), has published a new webpage on SAAMI.org dedicated to providing HAZMAT Special Permit information to users.

HAZMAT Special Permits are documents issued by the United States Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to ensure the safe transportation of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) when not otherwise permitted in the Hazardous Materials Regulations.

The new SAAMI HAZMAT Special Permit page lists Special Permits relevant to the transportation of ammunition and components. Each of the Special Permits is listed and includes a description about what the Special Permits authorize. Also provided is information on how to look up a Special Permit and how to apply for Party Status.

“We’ve added this information in response to requests from SAAMI member companies,” said Joe Bartozzi, SAAMI’s President & CEO. “In making this information easily available, we are fulfilling a component of SAAMI’s mission to help ensure ammunition and components are transported safely throughout the world.”

The new webpage is called HAZMAT Special Permits and is located under Transportation and Storage Regulations Information.

February Conference Focused on Modular Open Systems Approach for UAS 

SAN DIEGO – 13 March 2024 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) hosted an Open Architecture Symposium on Feb. 29, 2024, at its headquarters in Poway, California. At the symposium, government and industry speakers highlighted the tools, communities, and partners required to put Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) into practice in the development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). More than 80 attendees from approximately 30 organizations attended the event, which featured addresses from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Chief Digital & Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO), and industry speakers, as well as demonstrations of GA-ASI’s open architecture efforts.

“Open Architecture is key to GA-ASI systems,” said GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue, who spoke at the event. “The Department of Defense’s MOSA efforts are building products that are quicker to integrate and faster to iterate. This enables best-of-breed competition and forms the basis for delivering new capabilities, such as mission autonomy, across our platforms.”

The symposium highlighted a large cross-section of government and industry. GA-ASI appreciated the support and participation of guest speakers from more than a dozen companies. The conversation covered lessons learned from experienced integrators of Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) and Open Mission Systems (OMS) capabilities, highlighted the diversity of products aligned to MOSA technical standards, and spotlighted growing autonomous capabilities built on open foundations. The Symposium highlighted the rich ecosystem, challenges, and opportunities surrounding open architecture initiatives across the Department of Defense.

The new Gray Eagle 25M (GE 25M) brings MOSA to the Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)-capable system to ensure incremental enhancements can be made at the speed of emerging threats. Rapid integration of technology enables GE 25M to act as an information quarterback, receiving data from multiple reconnaissance assets, employing launched effects, and extending communications networks. GE 25M flew for the first time in Dec. 2023 and adheres to MOSA principles, leveraging modernized avionics, data links, sensor integration, and a laptop ground control station.

NEWINGTON, N.H., (March 12, 2024) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is honored to announce the full ROMEO2 kit has been assigned a NATO Stock Number (NSN: 1240-01-717-4679) and officially placed on the MHS Additional Authorized List (AAL).  This distinguished designation is part of the continued modernization efforts of the Modular Handgun System (MHS) Program and proliferation of SIG SAUER accessories designed and engineered to enhance the M17 and M18 platforms.

For inclusion on the MHS Additional Authorized List (AAL), the U.S. Army evaluated numerous pistol red dot sights, from multiple manufacturers, through vigorous environmental and performance evaluations and the ROMEO2 and the previously awarded ROMEO-M17 (NSN: 1240-01-713-9795) each achieved successful selection.  The issuance of the NSN to these products streamlines the procurement process for all NATO members and partner countries as an identified standardized material.

The ROMEO2 is a Red Dot Reflex Sight that features a molded glass aspheric lens with high-performance coatings for superior light transmittance and zero distortion, available with a 3 MOA, 6 MOA, or Circle/Dot reticle, and offers D.A.R.C. (Dark Adaptive Reticles and Coatings) technology to provide ideal reticle brightness and target clarity during the day and while using a Gen3+ night vision device.  MOTAC™ (motion-activated illumination system) automatically turns the optic off when not in use, and automatically turns it back on when it detects motion, and MAGNETAC™ (Magnetic Activation) automatically turns the optic off when holstered in a compatible holster, and on when drawn.   The sight has a 7075-aluminum housing and comes with two (2) steel shrouds for three (3) different optic configurations, to include fully enclosed and sealed.  A spring-loaded side battery tray with push-button release allows a battery change without the need to remove the optic from the firearm.

Additionally, the approved MHS AAL ROMEO2 kit includes Berry-compliant wrenches, an X-RAY3 green suppressor-height front night sight to co-witness with the integrated rear sight on the ROMEO2 housing, and a plug to fill the hole in the rear of the MHS slide when the sight plate is removed.

A thoroughly modern version of the strongside belt holster, Galco’s Concealable™ 2.0 Belt Holster is now available for the Glock 48!

Building on over four decades of success with the original Concealable, the 2.0 version is updated for 21st century gun carriers. Cut low at the front, the new design accommodates most popular carry-style red dot optics. The raised sweat guard protects the wearer’s body from the pistol, and the pistol from the body’s natural perspiration. A mild butt-forward cant offers an easy draw from behind the dominant-side hip while also enhancing concealment with larger defensive pistols.

The Concealable 2.0’s unique two-piece construction is contoured on the body side to the natural curve of the hip, keeping all the molding on the front of the holster, allowing for significantly more comfortable carry and a narrower profile than an ordinary pancake type holster. Hand-molded to fit specific handguns, the Concealable 2.0 features a deeply hand-molded exterior for excellent retention properties and superior appearance, firing grip accessibility for speed, and double-stitched seams for long-lasting durability.

NSSF’s Protect Liberty PAC Announces Major Contribution From the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers Ahead of 2024 Election
$25,000 NASGW Contribution Buoys Protect Liberty PAC‘s Efforts for Election Day to Protect Americans’ Freedoms and Liberties, Including Our Second Amendment Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The NSSF’s Protect Liberty Political Action Committee (Protect Liberty PAC) received a major contribution from the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) that will be utilized to help identify and support the election of candidates who are dedicated to preserving and protecting liberty, freedom and the Constitutional rights of all Americans. The $25,000 contribution from NASGW will buoy Protect Liberty PAC’s efforts ahead of the November 2024 election to ensure voters in key battleground states and congressional districts across the country are informed about candidates who will fight for their Constitutional rights and not carry out a “woke,” progressive, far left political agenda that threatens those rights.
“We are extremely grateful for NASGW’s generous contribution and belief in Protect Liberty PAC’s mission to elect candidates who will fight for our liberties and freedoms, including the Second Amendment,” said Lawrence G. Keane, Protect Liberty PAC’s Treasurer. “There’s a long road ahead before Election Day in November. Protect Liberty PAC is a federally registered “super PAC” founded in 2023 by NSSF. Protect Liberty PAC is an independent-expenditure only political committee and can accept unlimited personal and corporate contributions from companies in or outside of the industry, so long as they do not have federal contracts. Protect Liberty PAC will expressly advocate for the election or defeat of specific candidates and that advocacy will be completely independent of any candidate or political party.
Contributions to Protect Liberty PAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.  Federal law requires Protect Liberty PAC to use its best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and the name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year.  Protect Liberty PAC can accept unlimited personal and corporate contributions.  However, contributions from foreign nationals, federal contractors, national banks, and federally chartered corporations are prohibited.

The ICON Performance Knit Shirt is designed with an enhanced construction that sets a new standard in fishing apparel.
