The WalkAbout 3.0’s open top allows a very fast draw, while the reinforced mouth allows a smooth and easy return of the gun to the holster. The WalkAbout 3.0’s belt clips are adjustable for cant, making it suitable for the strongside, crossdraw, or appendix carry positions.
The WalkAbout 3.0’s attached magazine carrier has a more pronounced angle than previous versions. This angle allows pistols with most carry-style red-dot optics to clear the spare magazine’s floorplate when drawing, and has the secondary benefit of allowing a faster draw of the magazine when reloading, especially from the appendix carry position.
The ambidextrous WalkAbout 3.0 is supplied with two types of interchangeable tuckable clips. The first is the UniClip™, designed to go over the belt, but which also works well without a belt. Virginia Beach, VA [May 7, 2024]—Heroes on the Water, Tidewater Chapter (HOW), a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting veterans and first responders in finding solace through therapeutic kayak fishing outings, proudly announces the success of its recent fishing tournament. Held at a private lake in Smithfield, Virginia, the event brought together veterans, supporters, and community members for a day of camaraderie, competition, and celebration of our nation’s defenders.
Travis Lucas, Patrick Soderholm, and Billy McGowan were among the standout participants, showcasing remarkable skills throughout the tournament. Travis Lucas, a former 12 Bravo Combat Engineer for the VA Army National Guard, emerged as the Biggest Fish winner, reeling in an 18.5-inch largemouth bass weighing 2lbs 8oz. Travis’s dedication to service and his passion for angling was evident as he clinched this trophy.
Patrick Soderholm, Coordinator of the Heroes on the Water Tidewater Chapter and a US Navy Submarine veteran with nine years of service exemplified leadership and commitment both on and off the water. Despite his responsibilities as an essential part of the Navy’s Fleet support Submarines overhaul team at SUPSHIP Newport News, Patrick participated enthusiastically, embodying the spirit of the organization.
Billy McGowan, a retired Navy submarine torpedo man who served for 20 years and retired as Chief, showcased his expertise by winning the Most Fish Caught during the tournament. With an impressive tally of 11 largemouth bass, Billy’s skill and determination inspired all in attendance. His relentless pursuit of excellence mirrored the values HOW and its community uphold.
The event, made possible by the generous support of the volunteers for Heroes on the Water, provided a platform to bond, relax, and find solace in the therapeutic waters of kayak fishing. Firearm Industry Surpasses $17 Billion in Pittman-Robertson Excise Tax Contributions for Conservation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, celebrates firearm and ammunition manufacturers topping $17 billion in excise tax contributions to the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund since its inception in 1937. When adjusted for inflation, the total is more than $27.38 billion. The latest Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) Collection report released by the Department of the Treasury, covering the 4th Quarter Calendar Year 2023, indicates that firearm and ammunition manufacturers contributed more than $222 million.
“The entire firearm and ammunition industry celebrates this milestone that demonstrates our commitment to wildlife conservation for all Americans,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “The firearm and ammunition industry knows the conservation of wildlife and the habitats in which they thrive are invaluable. They are critical to future generations taking part in hunting and the recreational shooting sports traditions and learning about their vital importance. This manufacturing industry, which produces firearms and ammunition for law-abiding citizens, also produces the funding upon which our wildlife depends and is vital for future generations to enjoy.”
The firearm and ammunition industry added $1 billion in conservation tax contributions in just one year. NSSF announced Firearm and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) contributions have totaled more than $1 billion annually for the past three years.
The Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund, commonly known as the Pittman-Robertson fund, is funded by excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers on their products, as well as archery equipment manufacturers. The excise tax is set at 11 percent of the wholesale price for long guns and ammunition and 10 percent of the wholesale price for handguns. The excise tax, paid by manufacturers and importers, applies to all firearms produced or imported for commercial sales, including recreational shooting, hunting or self-defense. The tax is administered by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) of the Department of the Treasury, which turns the funds over to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).
USFWS deposits the Pittman-Robertson revenues into a special account called the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund administered by the USFWS. These funds are made available to states and territories the year following their collection based on a statutory formula. Earlier this year, NSSF announced that USFWS apportioned over $1.6 billion to the states for wildlife conservation projects, of which $944 million was sourced from Pittman-Robertson excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers.
These 10 to 11 percent excise tax dollars collected since 1937 under the Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act are specifically designated to be used by state wildlife agencies for conservation and related purposes. Collectively, purchasers of firearms and ammunition, hunters and the industry are the greatest source of wildlife conservation funding.

TrellisWare Releases Latest Software with Support for Multiple Waveforms
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, April 29, 2024 — TrellisWare Technologies, Inc. announced today the release of the latest software upgrade to its family of Software Defined Radios (SDRs). The new software supports the installation of multiple waveforms, including TSM® and Katana™, at the same time, with seamless waveform switching providing access to both waveforms as users’ missions require. This multi-waveform capability expands the TrellisWare ecosystem to better support a variety of mission types and additional future waveforms to meet evolving user needs.
The TSM waveform provides interoperability with over 120,000 fielded TSM-enabled systems for a resilient wideband Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) that supports simultaneous voice, positional information reporting, streaming video, and other data services. The Katana waveform enables a resilient narrowband MANET that operates in highly contested radio communication environments while supporting simultaneous voice, positional information reporting, and low-bandwidth data services across a multi-hop network scalable to hundreds of nodes.
TrellisWare’s latest software release provides the following new features:
• Multiple waveform support – New functionality allows multiple waveforms to be installed on TrellisWare radios, allowing the user to switch between waveforms directly from the radio. Additional waveforms and software support will be available in upcoming releases.
• Katana waveform fully supported on all TrellisWare radio models (separate license required) – Enables all TrellisWare radios (including the TW-650 TSM Shadow® Core Board Module and TW-880 TSM Ghost™ Embedded Module) to run the Katana waveform, supporting integration into a wide range of partner systems, including small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).
• Complete accessory support – TrellisWare radios can now leverage all TrellisWare radio accessories when operating the Katana waveform, including the TW-1760 Wi-Fi dongle that enables wireless connectivity to end-user devices (EUDs).
• Simplified setup – The TrellisWare Management Tool (TMT) is now available in versions that support radio configuration for both TSM and Katana waveforms. Additionally, for radios hosting multiple waveforms, over-the-air cloning (OTAC) can transmit both the TSM and Katana presets from one radio to support quick configuration of large quantities of radios.
“Our TSM waveform has significantly evolved over the past decade, with increased network capacity now supporting 32 Mbps throughput and quadrupling the possible network size to well over 800 nodes in a single 1.2 MHz frequency channel. This has expanded interoperability to a mixed-security ecosystem that now comprises over 120,000 systems,” said Marcus Urie, director of product management. “TrellisWare’s latest software now enables users to install our highly resilient Katana waveform option alongside TSM to allow switching between TSM and Katana networks on the fly as their missions require.”

The company has sold the longtime reloading brand to Hodgdon Powder.
ANOKA, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Revelyst, a collective of world-class maker brands that design and manufacture performance gear and precision technologies and a segment of Vista Outdoor Inc. (NYSE: VSTO), today announced the sale of RCBS, the company’s Oroville, California-based reloading brand, to Hodgdon Powder Co. Inc., a Shawnee, Kansas-based supplier of smokeless and black powder substitute propellants.
RCBS is a leading manufacturer of ammunition reloading equipment for hunters, competition shooters and sporting enthusiasts. Through this transaction, Revelyst found the right home for RCBS with Hodgdon, a market leader in American manufacturing, smokeless powder, clean black powder substitute and now reloading equipment.
