NSSF Urges President-Elect Trump to Disband White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is urging President-elect Donald Trump to take decisive action to disband the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and put an end to government-funded efforts to infringe upon the Constitutionally-guaranteed Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. This office, installed under President Joe Biden, never addressed criminal misuse of firearms. Instead, it squandered taxpayer dollars and employed former gun control lobbyists to minimize the American rights to keep and bear arms and propose policies to harass and damage the American firearm and ammunition industry.
President-elect Trump might consider replacing this office with one dedicated to the advancement and preservation of the Second Amendment.
“President-elect Trump has the ability to stand strong with law-abiding Second Amendment supporters and wipe away this unprecedented abuse of government authority that has been used as a blunt instrument against rights that are protected by the U.S. Constitution,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “Nowhere else, within the U.S. Government, are taxpayers forced to fund efforts to denigrate their rights protected by the law. This office was established to appease the special-interest gun control lobby and donors. The Biden-Harris administration has used this office to attempt to justify their unconstitutional and whole-of-government attacks on Second Amendment rights and the industry that makes those rights possible to exercise. This office must no longer exist after January 20, 2025.”
The Biden-Harris administration established The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention in September 2023 under the direct supervision of Vice President Kamala Harris as the “gun control czar.” From this office, the Biden-Harris administration promulgated policy positions that are egregiously counter to the rights of law-abiding citizens. Staffed by Stefanie Feldman as Director, she once boasted on X that President Biden would defeat firearm manufacturers that he once labelled “the enemy” by overturning the Protection of Lawful Commerce In Arms Act (PLCAA). She posted, “As president, he’ll defeat them again. And, he’ll repeal the non-sensical liability protection for gun manufacturers.”
Greg Jackson serves as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director, who was previously a gun control advocate for the far-left George Soros-backed Tides Foundation Community Justice Action Fund.
The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is also staffed by Rob Wilcox, a former lobbyist for antigun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety. Everytown supports bans on entire classes of firearms and bankrupting the firearm and ammunition industry through frivolous lawsuits.
The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention never addressed the issues of criminal misuse of firearms, instead had fingerprints on President Biden’s ill-advised attack on funding for hunter safety courses in public schools, which was blocked by Congress, and is embroiled in a scandal that it colluded with Everytown for Gun Safety to force GLOCK, Inc., to alter handgun designs and coordinated with the City of Chicago to bring forth a frivolous lawsuit when the company refused to acquiesce to the corrupt pressure. The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is under investigation by the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee. To date, this office, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), have yet to comply with subpoenas issued by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.).

GRAY EAGLE STOL MAKES HISTORIC FIRST FLIGHT FROM SHIP TO LAND
Short Takeoff and Landing UAS Operates from South Korean Warship
SAN DIEGO – 13 November 2024 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) logged another aviation milestone on Nov. 12, 2024, when its Gray Eagle STOL aircraft took off from a South Korean warship and landed at a ground base – the first-ever such mission for an aircraft of this type. Working with our GA-ASI’s in-country partner, Hanwha Aerospace, Gray Eagle STOL launched from the South Korean navy’s amphibious landing ship Dokdo underway at sea off the coast of Pohang, South Korea. The Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) then flew to Pohang Navy Airfield and landed normally.
Gray Eagle STOL – which stands for short takeoff and landing – is the only medium-altitude, long-endurance aircraft of its kind with the ability to operate from large-deck warships such as amphibious ships and aircraft carriers, as well as short and unimproved fields on land. The test with the South Korean military further validates the aircraft’s capability and versatility.
“We applaud the South Korean navy for its foresight in examining the unique capability of GE STOL for its fleet. This demonstration illustrates the ability of the GE STOL to safely operate on many types of aircraft-capable ships, which opens myriad new ways our allies can use this UAS to support multi-domain naval operations,” said GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue.
Hanwha Aerospace is engaged with General Atomics to support national defense with proven, state-of-the-art technology suited for a multi-domain warfare environment, contributing to global security alongside allied nations in response to rapidly growing threats.
“The demonstration is a crucial step in verifying how the GE STOL can contribute to defense capabilities, and I am honored to witness this alongside the Republic of Korea Navy, to whom I extend my deepest gratitude for conducting the test,” said Hanwha Aerospace CEO and President Jae-il Son. “Hanwha is fully committed to making bold investments, fostering collaboration, and providing steadfast support in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) business.”
The Ministry of National Defense for the Republic of Korea is initially evaluating GE STOL for its ability to meet its emerging military requirements. South Korean navy, army and other officials were asked to evaluate Gray Eagle STOL and supported the test.
“The demo highlighted the versatility of STOL aboard a warship, in the Dokdo, designed not for fixed-wing aircraft but solely for helicopters. Gray Eagle STOL’s flight proves that navies can add significant new capability without costly major modifications to their existing warships,” said South Korean Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Yang Yong-mo.
Gray Eagle STOL is highly common with the classic Gray Eagle aircraft, substituting a different engine, wings, control surfaces and landing gear. Gray Eagle STOL is General Atomics’ name for the production variant of the historic aircraft demonstrator known as Mojave.
In November 2023, GA-ASI and Mojave performed a demonstration of STOL takeoff and return landing aboard an aircraft carrier in an event with the UK Royal Navy’s HMS Prince of Wales, which is smaller than a typical U.S. aircraft carrier at 932 feet long (284m) and 240 feet wide (73m). The Dokdo class is considerably smaller than the Prince of Wales, only 653 feet long (199m) and 102 feet wide (31m).

NSSF Celebrates Lawsuit Challenging Maine’s 72-Hour Delay on Second Amendment Rights
WASHINGTON, D.C. – NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, celebrated the announcement that a lawsuit has been filed against Maine’s Attorney General Aaron Frey, seeking declarative and injunctive relief from state authorities enforcing Public Law 2023, Chapter 678, Maine’s new 72-hour waiting period law that denies law-abiding Mainers the ability to take possession of a newly-purchased firearm after they pass an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verification. The Plaintiffs have moved for a preliminary injunction to halt enforcement of the law while the challenge is ongoing.
The 72-hour waiting period law was included in a larger gun control package that was enacted by Gov. Janet Mills in August. Several plaintiffs are challenging Maine’s 72-hour delay period by demonstrating that it violates their Second Amendment rights and are asking the court to strike down the law as unconstitutional.
The lawsuit against Attorney General Aaron Frey was filed by several individuals, federally licensed firearm dealers (FFLs), and an organization that provides firearm training. One of the plaintiffs is a domestic-abuse survivor and certified firearm instructor who offers self-defense classes to victims and survivors. The law now prevents the women she assists from adequately defending themselves against abusive partners who pose a credible and imminent threat to their physical safety, as it forces them to wait three days to secure a firearm even when they clear the NICS background check. Likewise, another plaintiff—a federally licensed firearm dealer—has been forced to delay sales to qualified individuals with time-sensitive needs, including a single woman who was being stalked and a married couple whose home was burgled. These stories are emblematic of the countless number of individuals whose rights have been denied and whose safety has been put in jeopardy due to Maine’s 72-hour waiting period.
“This law is nothing more than an attempt to deny law-abiding Mainers their Constitutional rights while doing nothing to stop criminals who ignore these ineffective laws. Rights delayed are rights denied and this law, signed by Governor Janet Mills, is exemplary of the efforts by gun control advocates who only wish to put in place roadblocks for law-abiding citizens who wish to exercise their Second Amendment rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “Waiting period laws such as Maine’s have no historical pedigree whatsoever and would have been incomprehensible to the Founding Fathers. Over the past four years, millions of law-abiding Americans felt the need to purchase a firearm due to concerns about their safety and they should not be denied the ability to do so because of an arbitrary time requirement, when their life could be in danger.”
NSSF supports this effort to vindicate the Second Amendment rights of Mainers and is monitoring the lawsuit.

Barnett’s Hyper Raptor Crossbow Delivers Devastating Performance at a Disruptive Price

Barnett’s Halo System eliminates cable crossing and cam lean to create perfectly balanced string travel for superior accuracy. Additionally, arrows are held secure with Barnett’s Soft Lok™ Floating Bristle Arrow Retainer System, and CNC machined aluminum flight track provides consistency shot after shot.
The Hyper Raptor utilizes a metal-injected molded trigger and TriggerTech™ Frictionless Release Technology (a $200 value). The TriggerTech trigger features a reliable, crisp, 3-pound pull for consistent shots and improved accuracy, while an Anti-Dry Fire (ADF) system and a nock sensor ensure the crossbow is loaded correctly. Additionally, the Rope Hold Roller Ball technology keeps the RCD rope in place as you attach hooks to string for more consistent cocking. For hunters looking to use a CCD, Barnett offers a compatible Hyper Raptor CCD buttstock.
Comfort and customization add the finishing touches to the Hyper Raptor. Multiple features, like the finger safety reminders above the pass-through forend with Verti-Grip palm rest, enhance hunter-friendly ergonomics. An adjustable length-of-pull buttstock and a padded, micro-adjustable cheek rest ensure a perfect length-of-pull and proper scope-to-eye alignment.
