GA-ASI COMPLETES FINAL QUALIFICATION TEST FOR HFE 2.0 ENGINE
200-HP Heavy Fuel Engine Will Be Used for Gray Eagle 25M
SAN DIEGO – 19 November 2024 – On Nov. 13, 2024, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), completed its final qualification test for its new 200-horsepower heavy fuel engine at its El Mirage, California, flight facility. The Heavy Fuel Engine (HFE) 2.0 is a highly reliable low-maintenance engine with a 40 percent increase in service life providing longer maintenance-free operational periods. The engine will provide the horsepower and electrical power required to meet the demanding performance needs of the new Gray Eagle 25M for Multi-Domain Operations (MDO).
The three-week qualification test of the HFE 2.0 engine is aligned with the Federal Aviation Administration’s endurance test requirements (FAA 14 CFR 33.49) as the FAA’s primary performance standard for engines to be used in commercial aviation. Over the last 18 months, HFE 2.0 excelled in strenuous durability testing that included 2,450 full power cycles simulating high stress conditions during three extensive test profiles of 200, 400, and 651 hours. Additionally, the engine completed 50 hours of flight testing across the flight envelope.
“This test is the culmination of the extensive durability and flight test program for the HFE 2.0 engine,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “It’s been great to see the outstanding test results that have validated the design and development of the HFE 2.0 engine we have worked on so passionately for the past seven years and to bring this world-class engine to the Gray Eagle fleet.”
GA-ASI and its General Atomics Europe affiliate partnered with global leaders in high-performance engines — supported by propulsion technology innovator Cosworth — to develop an engine on the company’s internally funded research and development program. GA-ASI also brought in General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems to design and build the engine’s dual brushless generator, which will dramatically reduce field maintenance and is designed to be a drop-in replacement for the existing generator. The enhanced generator will deliver over 50 percent more electrical power to support newly available payloads for the MDO mission.
After completion of the FAA engine endurance test, next steps call for the U.S. Army certification process to allow authorization of the HFE 2.0 for use on the existing fleet of GA-ASI’s Gray Eagle Extended Range (GE ER) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) as a replacement for the 180-horsepower engine that is reaching its end of life. HFE 2.0 is also the cornerstone of the modernized Gray Eagle 25M (GE 25M) UAS currently being produced under a U.S. Army-funded program to support future MDO UAS missions.

HatsanUSA Expands its Hydra QE Line with the Hydra Arrow – a PCP Arrow Launcher
Rogers, AR (November 18, 2024) – Building on the success of Hatsan’s Hydra QE multi-caliber PCP air rifle, HatsanUSA is introducing the Hydra Arrow. With the ability to shoot commercially available 20” crossbow arrows with .30” inner diameter, this new arrow launcher will turn heads. Available in a durable synthetic stock with texturing for better grip and control. It features the patented Versi-Cal Technology, an interchangeable caliber system that allows the shooter to trade calibers with a single thumbscrew.
The VCT system couples a caliber-specific receiver and barrel into a single interchangeable module, enabling the scope to remain mounted and zeroed in with each caliber used. A knurled screw located at the rear of the receiver locks the upper module onto the lower receiver, allowing caliber changes in just a few seconds. The Hydra Arrow also features Hatsan’s 2-stage, fully adjustable, match Quattro trigger.
The Hydra Arrow is built with an arrow shroud, onboard storage clips, and tip protectors for two arrows. A Monte Carlo-style cheek rest rises to just the right height for use with scopes. The rubber buttpad is elevation and fit angle adjustable for a custom fit for each shooter. Built with a long combination optics rail (11mm & 22mm), you can add your choice of optic or use the included flip-up fiber optic sights. Shooting at up to 220 FPS and 45 FPE, the Hydra Arrow has a fixed 165cc air cylinder that fills up to 200 BAR and can provide up to 35 powerful shots. This bolt-action, modular platform is easy to carry and shoot, and with the arrow mod, it weighs in at a balanced 9.5 lbs. The Hatsan Hydra QE is also available in .177, .22, or .25 calibers – with additional barrel/receiver modules available separately.

The Masterbilt holster series combines our finest-quality premium leathers with the skills of our most experienced craftsmen. The Masterbilt series is the pinnacle of leather holster construction, unrivaled by anything on the market. Masterbilt holsters get their final drying on a last, a solid form around which the holster is dried. They’re ready to go – right from Galco – with little or no break-in required. With detailed hand molding and full-grain leather lining, Masterbilt holsters are not only beautiful, but supremely functional.
Constructed of our finest, fully-lined premium steerhide, the Thunderclap features detailed hand-molding for both secure retention and a beautiful appearance. The smooth leather lining provides increased tactile feedback on the draw while easing wear on more-delicate handgun finishes. The refinement of leather lining is not only practical – it also enhances the overall look and feel of a hand-crafted premium holster.
The Thunderclap’s mild forward cant gives it a fast, wrist-locked draw stroke, while the reinforced opening provides easy, one-handed return to the holster. Relieved at the base of the trigger guard, it allows a full firing grip in the holster. The metal-reinforced tunnel-style belt loop provides excellent rigidity during carry and on the draw, and the trailing belt slot aids with concealment – even with large defensive handguns. A molded sight rail prevents snags on the draw.
Equally at home concealed with an EDC pistol or worn openly with a barbeque gun, the Thunderclap is sure to impress friends – or help defeat enemies!

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In celebration of our American freedoms, NSSF®—The Firearm Industry Trade Association—has opened a truly American auction featuring everything from one-of-a-kind firearms to exclusive hunting and shooting experiences.
Being held online now through January 24 at nssf.org/auction, NSSF’s Celebration of Freedom Auction features more than 30 bucket-list items that can’t be found anywhere else.
Among the items up for bid are a seven-day dream safari in Africa that will come to life in the pages of Peterson’s Hunting magazine, skeet-shooting lessons and dinner with a four-time Olympic skeet gold medalist, highly collectible firearms from America’s finest manufacturers, lunch with a NASCAR legend (and a private tour of his renowned race shop) and much more.
“This is up there with the greatest auctions I’ve ever seen,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. “The entire industry rallied together to bring this auction to life to support all that NSSF is doing to ensure a bright future for America’s gun owners and the industry that makes exercising our Second Amendment rights possible.”
All funds generated by the auction will support NSSF’s #GUNVOTE® voter registration, education and get-out-the-vote campaign aimed at making sure gun owners continue to have their voices heard and ensuring a strong future for our American freedoms.
The auction is open now through the conclusion of NSSF’s SHOT Show® on January 24 at nssf.org/auction.
