Inside the walls of SIG SAUER is a team of individuals dedicated to the pursuit of innovation. In October of 2022, the Australian Defense Forces selected the SIG SAUER P320 as their new sidearm as part of a program to modernize the ADF’s small arms. The program, known as The Lethality System Project (LAND 159) will equip the ADF with next-generation weapon systems, surveillance and target acquisition equipment, ammunition, and support systems to ensure ADF ground combatants maintain a capability advantage over potential adversaries to 2030 and beyond.
For the Australian Defense Forces, the SIG Special Weapons Group utilized a P320 variant similar to the U.S. Military’s M18. This edition of the P320 has been designated SIGP320978 and represents the first offering in the SIG Special Weapons Group Program. NSSF’s Project ChildSafe and Local Leaders Launch “Project ChildSafe Louisville” to Promote Firearm Safety
NSSF and partners to distribute 6,000 free gun locks to Kentucky residents to encourage secure firearm storage and help prevent accidents
LOUISVILLE, KY., December 11, 2024 – NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, and its Project ChildSafe® program today announced the launch of “Project ChildSafe Louisville” in collaboration with Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, Mayor Craig Greenberg, the Louisville Metro Police Department and various state and city leaders and local organizations. The comprehensive citywide initiative aims to promote responsible firearm ownership and secure firearm storage practices across the community to prevent accidents, thefts and misuse, including suicide.
“Secure firearm storage is a critical step in protecting our communities from accidents and keeping them safer,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “That’s why we’re honored to be working with so many partners to give away thousands of gun locks and educational materials across the city. Firearm accidents are preventable — our hope is that what begins here in Louisville will spread across the region and entire state of Kentucky to help raise awareness of how gun owners can practice secure firearm storage in the home and in vehicles.”
“We’ve all seen and heard the news about Aubree Goss, the three-year-old girl who lost her life here in Louisville when she found an unsecured gun,” said Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg. “Her death was preventable, and we can honor her memory by making sure this kind of tragedy never happens in our city again. I am calling on our community to join this effort and safely secure any guns in your home.”

During a press conference at the Louisville Metro Police Department Third Division headquarters, city officials and local leaders gathered to emphasize the importance of simple, everyday actions gun owners can take to help prevent firearm-related accidents, thefts and suicides. Following the press conference, five gun lock distribution events were held throughout the community, allowing Louisville residents to pick up free Project ChildSafe® gun locks and learn about other secure storage devices at local sites, no questions asked.

NSSF to Host 4th Annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, proudly announces the 4th Annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show® 2025 is shaping up to host several state governors to discuss the importance of the firearm industry to their states, Second Amendment rights of their citizens and their insights to challenges and opportunities ahead for gun rights in the United States.
Confirmed for the Governors’ Forum is (in alphabetical order of states):
NSSF is hosting the Governors’ Forum, moderated by Sean Davis, CEO and Co-Founder of The Federalist, to discuss the importance of the industry to their state, the legislative landscape and what can and should be done to protect the industry from gun control special interests threatening the firearm and ammunition industry and Second Amendment rights. More governors may be added to the forum as schedules permit.
“These governors are the leading voices for protecting Second Amendment rights and the firearm and ammunition industry that provides the means for Americans to lawfully exercise those rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “NSSF’s Governors’ Forum provides a unique opportunity for SHOT Show attendees and industry media to hear directly from those governors, especially in a year when the nation will transition to a new Trump presidential administration. NSSF has regularly welcomed governors to SHOT Show, but the Governors’ Forum is a rare chance to hear directly about the issues and opportunities facing the firearm industry and Second Amendment freedoms to their states.”

The 10mm cartridge was designed in response to the cataclysmic 1986 FBI Miami shootout in which FBI agents using 9mm caliber pistols were seriously outperformed. The caliber was later decommissioned as it was found to be too recoil-heavy for trainees and the 10mm pistol grips were too large for smaller-handed agents. The .40 S&W was developed and replaced the 10mm, although it is still used by many law enforcement officers for its greater firepower and flat shooting. Handgun hunters have increasingly switched out to 10mm firearms, including the full-sized GLOCK 20 10mm pistol.
