During the 2026 SHOT Show®, Project ChildSafe encourages attendees to bring firearm safety to their communities and share what firearm safety means to them

LAS VEGAS — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, and its Project ChildSafe® initiative announced today that Project ChildSafe representatives will be at SHOT Show to share secure storage resources and the “Top Five” ways attendees can bring firearm safety to their communities.

“Secure storage — including the use of gun locks — is the best way to help prevent firearm-related accidents, misuse and suicides. That’s why Project ChildSafe was formed over 27 years ago, and why NSSF is proud to host Project ChildSafe at the SHOT Show again in 2026,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO and Chairman of the Project Childsafe Foundation.

One of the most frequently asked questions about Project ChildSafe, especially among members of the firearm and outdoor industries, as well as individual gun owners, is, “How can we be involved?” Project ChildSafe’s presence at SHOT Show this year has been specifically designed to answer that question. Attendees, influencers and media are encouraged to visit the Project ChildSafe Booth (#40148) to learn more and take action on any and all of these five options:

1. Engage with our Project ChildSafe In Your Communities map by pinning your hometown and helping us bring the program to your area. This initiative collaborates closely with local leaders and organizations to address each community’s unique needs and help spread firearm safety messages through trusted local channels.

NSSF Praises Interior Secretary’s Initiative for Opening Public Lands to Hunting


WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises the announcement by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to open lands managed by the Interior Department for hunting and fishing unless otherwise restricted by law, public safety or “resource protection.” The initiative was a result of NSSF working closely with the Department of the Interior to produce a policy that benefits those who directly invest in wildlife conservation.

The “open until closed” initiative, conveyed through Secretarial Order 3447, will benefit sportsmen and women across the nation. The much-needed update prioritizes public access and conservation goals over anti-hunting and preservationist special interests. In short, the new initiative focuses on empowering conservationists who are most invested in perpetuation of wildlife and public access to public lands.

“Secretary Burgum is delivering for hunters and conservationists through this announcement,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President for Government & Public Affairs. “NSSF has long advocated for public lands to be accessible to the American public, especially for hunting. Wildlife conservation decisions must be anchored in sound science that benefits healthy animal populations and the ability for Americans to enjoy the public lands for which they pay. We are grateful to Secretary Burgum for his commitment to remove barriers of entry to the outdoors and incentivize proven wildlife conservation strategies.”

The Secretary’s initiative includes opening all public lands managed by the Interior Department, including National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs), to hunters and anglers unless a specific reason is cited requiring that they must remain closed. This approach will reflect state hunting and fishing regulations instead of incrementally opening new opportunities. Specifically, this new initiative outlines that these refuges were acquired by, created for and are maintained and improved by investments by hunters through the Pittman-Robertson federal firearm and ammunition excise taxes, along with fees collected from the purchase of Federal Duck Stamps.

To date, the firearm industry has invested over $29 billion, when adjusted for inflation, since 1937 toward wildlife conservation. These excise taxes, paid by the manufacturers, are dedicated solely for the conservation of wildlife, the habitats in which they thrive, hunter education programs and construction of new, or expansion of existing, recreational target shooting ranges to promote safe and responsible firearm skills, handling and ownership. These 10 to 11 percent excise tax dollars collected for the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act are specifically designated to be used by state wildlife agencies for conservation and related purposes. Collectively, the firearm industry, purchasers of firearms and ammunition and hunters are the greatest source of wildlife conservation funding.

Critical to this initiative, too, is the elimination of alternative ammunition requirements to be used on NWRs, which was forced by the Biden administration without sound scientific evidence to justify the burdensome rule. Instead, The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will only require alternative ammunition in areas where a detrimental impact to wildlife populations has been proven by field data. The USFWS will continue to support incentive programs that allow hunters to choose the ammunition that best meets their needs.

The new 507-PROMAX is a direct expression of that mindset. It is built for high-tempo shooting where split times shrink, transitions get wider, and sight tracking becomes the deciding factor. With an enlarged window, a forward-leaning sunshade, and a purpose-built Performance Reticle System, the 507-PROMAX provides competitive and performance-driven shooters with more usable information in every presentation, without adding clutter or gimmicks.

Where most pistol optics require shooters to adapt their stage plan to a fixed reticle, the 507-PROMAX allows the reticle to adjust to the shooter. At the heart of the system is Holosun’s Performance Reticle System (PRS): a precise 2 MOA center dot anchored by selectable 8, 20, and 32 MOA circles in Red, Green, or Gold. That geometry isn’t decorative; each ring becomes a visual reference that serves a specific role. A bo2 MOA circle helps the eye catch sight faster on the draw and stay locked through recoil. Intermediate 8- and 20-MOA circles give the shooter indexing tools for partials, awkward positions, or fast transitions across steel arrays. On demand, the optic can be set up as a clean dot, a coarse circle, or a layered reticle that matches the stage and the shooter’s style.

The housing and window work quietly in the background to support that reticle. Built from 7075-T6 aluminum, the 507-PROMAX maintains the durability shooters expect while carving out a noticeably broader sight picture than the previous 507COMP. The 0.91 × 0.67-inch window is framed by a forward-leaning sunshade that helps cut glare and preserve contrast on the reticle in inconsistent lighting, whether that’s bright outdoor bays, artificial indoor light, or mixed environments where the shooter moves from dark to light in a single run. Weighing in at just 1.55 ounces, the optic maintains a balanced feel on the slide. It sits on the familiar RMR footprint, maintaining compatibility with pistols already cut to that pattern.

Power and controls are built for people who’d rather spend their time shooting than babysitting an optic. A CR1632 battery delivers up to 50,000 hours of operation, backed by Holosun’s Shake Awake™ and reticle memory so the sight wakes up where the shooter left it. A forward-facing light sensor reads ambient conditions from the target’s direction, not just from behind the gun, helping keep the PRS reticle appropriately bright when moving from shade to sun or from dim stages into hot lights. Manual control is there when you want it, but the goal is straightforward: the dot should be the last thing you think about as the buzzer sounds.

MRAD® Covert – Precision Without Compromise

Transforming tactical mobility and precision for the most discreet operational environments, the MRAD Covert redefines what a compact precision rifle can achieve. Featuring a compact folding stock configuration, the MRAD Covert disassembles effortlessly to fit within a bag or backpack, enabling exceptional concealment and rapid transport for government users, while remaining easy to handle for sporting shooters and hunters without sacrificing accuracy or reliability. From the factory, the MRAD Covert is configured in either .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor with a 17-inch barrel and delivers 5-shot sub-0.85 MOA accuracy. Designed for military operators, law enforcement teams, and long-range enthusiasts, the MRAD Covert maintains the full suite of MRAD features and capabilities in a compact form factor optimized for discreet carry. Each rifle ships with an Eberlestock® Adapt backpack or can be tailored to meet end-user requirements using a variety of flexible transport solutions.

Barrett Precision Ammunition – .50 BMG

Barrett also announced the expansion of its Precision Ammunition line with the introduction of .50 BMG Precision Ammunition, joining the existing .416 Barrett offering. Engineered for extreme accuracy and long-range consistency, the new .50 BMG cartridge features a 660-grain MTAC projectile producing approximately 2,800 feet per second from a 32-inch barrel. Manufactured to the industry’s tightest production tolerances, Barrett Precision Ammunition utilizes hand-selected match-grade projectiles, premium primers, climate-stable powders, and precision cases to ensure exceptional consistency and performance.

Designed to deliver optimized external ballistics, reduced drag, minimal wind drift, and extended supersonic range, Barrett Precision Ammunition offers unmatched terminal performance and energy retention at extreme distances. REC10® Returns to the Lineup

After being placed on production hold due to Barrett’s prioritization of its MRAD MK 22™ contract, the REC10 returns to the lineup by popular demand. Redefining premium precision and resilience, the REC10 is a direct-impingement, semi-automatic rifle developed through advanced engineering and rigorous testing to perform in the most demanding conditions. Featuring fully ambidextrous controls, an optimized gas system designed to minimize recoil, and premium hardware throughout, the REC10 delivers exceptional accuracy, durability, and tactical versatility for professional and civilian users alike.

From the factory, the REC10 is available in .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor with either a 16-inch or 20-inch barrel configuration and delivers 5-shot sub-MOA accuracy. The REC10 is scheduled to be available for purchase beginning mid-2026.

Expanded Finish Offerings

For 2026, Barrett is expanding its Cerakote® finish offerings across its flagship rifle platforms. Every M107A1®, Model 82A1®, and MRAD® rifle can now be ordered in five new solid finishes: White, Blaze (Red), Liberty (Blue), Burnt Bronze, and Sniper Green. In addition to these new solid colors, customers may also select optional Woodland Camo or Grey Urban Camo patterns. Barrett’s standard finishes, including Black, Tungsten Grey, FDE, and Coyote, remain available, and additional products are currently being evaluated for future color expansion.

GERMANY BUYS EIGHT MQ-9B SEAGUARDIAN® RPA THROUGH NSPA

NSPA Supports NATO Countries in the Acquisition and Sustainment of GA-ASI’s Advanced Multi-Domain RPA

SAN DIEGO – 12 January 2026 – Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support and the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) have announced the procurement of eight MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI). The program includes four Certifiable Ground Control Stations. First delivery is expected in 2028.

Germany joins a growing list of NATO countries that have selected GA-ASI’s advanced MQ-9B RPA for its multi-domain capabilities with exceptionally long range and endurance. The platform provides pole-to-pole satellite control and de-icing capabilities to enable missions in cold climates. SeaGuardian features two multi-mode surface-search radars that deliver wide-area maritime surveillance, with an option to add Anti-Submarine Warfare capability. Additionally, MQ-9B’s in-house-developed Detect and Avoid System aids its ability to fly in unsegregated airspace for domestic civilian operations, making it highly versatile for operations from Germany.

In 2025, MQ-9B became the first large RPA to obtain a Military Type Certificate from the UK’s Military Aviation Authority, certifying its safe operation without geographic restrictions, including over populous areas.

“We’re thrilled that Germany has joined the list of NATO countries that have selected MQ-9B SeaGuardian,” said GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue. “The proliferation of MQ-9B in Europe delivers commonality between NATO countries and for Germany, it will provide opportunities for interoperability with their fleet of P-8As.”

The acquisition negotiation was executed on behalf of Germany by NSPA, which has developed a contractual framework through the MQ-9 Support Partnership (MIC SP) for supporting cooperation amongst its member nations and enabling the procurement of MQ-9B for NATO Allies and Partners. NSPA has added MQ-9B to its portfolio of defense systems to contract on behalf of NATO nations, with the goal of enhancing interoperability for joint training and operations.

MQ-9B includes the SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian® models as well as the Protector RG Mk1 that is currently being delivered to the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force (RAF). GA-ASI also has MQ-9B procurement contracts with Belgium, Canada, Denmark, India, Japan, Poland, Taiwan and the U.S. Air Force in support of the Special Operations Command and is looking forward to welcoming Germany to that group. MQ-9B has also been featured in various U.S. Navy exercises, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, RIMPAC, and Group Sail.

Mission94 Firearms Education Center Recognized as NSSF Five-Star Range

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has awarded Mission94 Firearms Education Center with its coveted Five-Star rating for range excellence. Five stars is the highest rating in NSSF’s star-rating system, which evaluates shooting facilities based on appearance, management, shooting sports development and amenities.

Located in Kenosha, Wis., Mission94 opened in October 2024 and has quickly grown into a leader in its community with a strong emphasis on responsible firearm ownership through training and education, while also exploring the unique history behind firearms and the Second Amendment.

“Mission94 has numerous standout qualities — first-class customer service, a strong focus on education, friendly and knowledgeable staff and a state-of-the-art facility — making it a worthy addition to NSSF’s family of Five-Star shooting ranges,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Member Development. “Mission94’s commitment to excellence and creating both positive and memorable experience for patrons of all skill levels encourages repeat visits and long-term participation.”

Mission94 is outfitted with two state-of-the-art training bays. A 25-yard training bay (10 lanes) features a target carrier system able to send out targets to varying distances and includes pre-programmed drills for training. Each lane in this bay is equipped with a camera system, enabling range guests to view a zoomed-in display of shot placements. The display also has a color-coding ability to distinguish between different arms or shooters using the same target. The 50-yard training bay has five lanes and a customizable target carrier system. Each bay is outfitted with a comprehensive HVAC system, delivering cleaner air than what range guests would breathe outside.
