40 years of RAID, a long-standing partner of PGM Précision
This year, the RAID, an elite unit of the French national police, celebrated its 40th anniversary. This was an opportunity for us to salute this prestigious unit, a long-standing partner of PGM Précision.

1991: creation of the Ultima Ratio with and for the RAID
In 1991, the RAID, an elite unit of the French national police founded 6 years earlier, was looking for a high-precision rifle to equip its snipers.
To meet this need, Gilles Payen, a gunsmith, worked closely with the RAID’s snipers to design an extremely precise weapon that could be used in the most delicate situations.
This partnership in the service of excellence gave birth in 1991 to the first PGM Precision rifle, called “Ultima Ratio”, “last resort” in Latin, in reference to these elite shooters who only intervene in a crisis situation as a last resort, when all other options have been exhausted.
PGM Précision was created by Gilles Payen and his two partners two years later, in 1993.

Exceptional longevity
Commissioned by the RAID in 1991, the first generation of Ultima Ratio accompanied the high-precision shooters of this elite unit, called “Omega shooters”, on the most demanding missions for 31 years.
Thanks to its design allowing the interchangeability of its parts, and its very high manufacturing quality, the Ultima Ratio has benefited from an exceptional lifespan by evolving to adapt to the needs of operators.
2022: creation of the new generation Ultima Ratio with and for RAID.
In 2022, 31 years after the manufacture of the first Ultima Ratio for RAID, PGM Précision presents the new generation of this now legendary weapon.
Designed again in close collaboration with RAID snipers, the new generation Ultima Ratio takes the founding principles of its predecessor on a new, modernized chassis to offer the best ergonomics.
Demonstrating RAID’s confidence in the reliability and precision of PGM rifles, this collaboration in the design of the new PGM Ultima Ratio is also in line with our philosophy of working with the most demanding shooters to offer the solution best suited to operational needs.

Designed for the most demanding shooters, the PGM Ultima Ratio is a very high precision multi-caliber rifle.
Available in many calibers (308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5×47 Lap, etc.) this weapon is capable of handling targets up to 1,000 meters.
Folding stock on the slide side, integrated ARCA rail, height-adjustable and removable stock stand, etc…. more than 34 years of evolution have made the Ultima Ratio a benchmark in ergonomics.
Interchangeable barrel in 30 seconds:
A founding principle of the PGM Ultima Ratio, the barrel can be replaced in just 30 seconds using a simple hex key.
It is thus possible to adapt your weapon to different missions by changing the type of barrel or caliber with the greatest simplicity.
