NDIA’s Vital Signs 2023 Report is Available Now

From the Desk of President & Chief Executive Officer David L. Norquist

NDIA President and CEO, the Hon. David L. Norquist appeared before the House Armed Services Committee on February 8 to provide testimony on the health of the U.S. defense industrial base.
NDIA submitted Vital Signs 2023 as part of his testimony and we are delighted to share the report with you today.

Our annual report includes an exclusive survey of NDIA members who form the backbone of the DIB. It focuses particularly on the health of the defense industrial base as it relates to military readiness. The report identifies key industrial readiness indicators going in the wrong direction and highlights the issues our NDIA members identified as their top challenges.

This year’s report paints a concerning picture of an American defense industry challenged – in particular – by near-peer competitor threats. Following the Cold War, the peace dividend, and many years of focus on counterinsurgency, the U.S. finds itself challenged to maintain its leadership position in renewed great power competition.

We invite you to download this report that includes exclusive survey input from over 170 NDIA small, medium and large member companies, representing 35% of total defense spending in Fiscal Year 2022.
