American prominence in the world can be traced to its talented and industrious labor force, but in 2022 we are at risk of losing that prominence to countries like China. We need to revive Made in the U.S.A. again, but doing that requires a firm commitment from consumers and the financial sector. Our academic institutions need to produce fewer sociology, history and psychology majors and more engineering, physics, mathematics, natural science and computer science graduates, but that effort begins at the secondary academic levels, and we cannot assume that it will happen with parental absentia.
