Heckler & Koch has confirmed that a modified version of its G28 rifle has won the Army’s Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System contract. The contract calls for 3,643 to be produced. Total contract value is worth $44.5 million, which brings the selling price to approximately $12,000 per rifle. HK will also provide spare parts and support for the Army. The Army will make a minimum purchase of 30 rifles for quality assurance testing.
The modified G28 will be significantly lighter and shorter than the legendary M110 SASS from Knight’s Armament in Vero Beach, Fl. HK has not released the full specifications for the Army’s G28 so we’ll update you when the official specs are release.
